THE goto outdoor store in town. All workers are very knowledgeable in a variety of outdoor activities and have tested much of what is sold in the store. If you have questions there are quick answers or, you can spend the next hour getting educated on your next multi day backpacking trip. Great people and great gear.

I bought one of the original JetBoil stoves when they first came out from here... it's 2025 now and I still have it, still take it backpacking and even car camping regularly.

Of course, just about anyone can sell you a jetboil, especially now, but at the time it was the latest and greatest, so to speak, and one of the folks working there already had half a dozen outings with theirs, including in colder weather and was able to answer some good questions and was happy to share some personal pros and cons.

That's just one item of many that I've bought from Bighorn. I live in Butte now, but I'm so happy to see Bighorn is still in business. I have other good quality items that were recommended by staff here that I bought as a teenager/early 20-something that now, even in my 40s, still make regular backpacking trips with me.

Anyone can sell you gear, but the personal recommendations and maintenance tips that the staff at Bighorn made to me as a young hiker have made all the difference. Thanks for the stuff, but more importantly, thank you all for your time and genuine, heart-felt recommendations, even the non gear related ones; hiking suggestions and such too.

Bighorn houses the best bike shop in town! Jay knows everything about bikes and he took the time to explain things to me. I was dropping off my Trek 7000 for a tuneup and Jay spent time with me to make sure it got done the way I wanted. A 25 year old bike came out of there in better condition than when it was new. Jay also let me know that any detail or tuning that wasn't right would be taken care of anytime. It's winter and I can't ride right now, but I have every confidence that if I find something wrong when summer comes, he'll remember and take care of me. I have a strong feeling that nothing will be wrong, because that's how Jay made me feel. I will be back, though! And recommend you to my friends.

My wife and I are on a cross country bike packing tour. She’s had 5 flats over the first 3 weeks. Stopped by Bighorn Outdoor Specialists as soon as we got into Great Falls. Jay had just the new tires we needed. He took great care of us, also putting on new tubes and sealant as well. We were in and out in less than an hour. Thanks for all the help, Jay!!!

Such a fantastic locally owned outdoor shop. Everyone is super friendly, incredibly helpful, and really easy to talk to. They are always welcoming but never pushy. And they have a great selection of my favorites…. like Darn Tough socks to boot!

They are very helpful salespeople who are fun to talk to and knowledgeable. I love shopping locally, and they make the decision to shop locally easily. They consistently have employees that can help you regardless of what outdoor fun you want to have.

Came in looking for an attachment for my air pump, they didn't have exactly what I needed, but the gentleman who helped me was able to find a hose that I could attach to my old one ! Super thankful for the help! Very wonderful customer service from the whole staff in there!

Friendly staff, nice selection of camping gear, hiking, climbing gear, car roof boxes and attachments, kayaks, nice selection of backpacking backpacks, and bear spray. Dog friendly. Would recommend and return.

Never heard of the place until this last weekend. Needed a tent pole replacement kit. North 40 revered me to Bighorn. Called and asked and they had the replacement poles. (Carbon fiber)drive there and Shelly helped me with the pile, a patch kit for my tent and showed me the clearance room. Went upfront to pay and after Shelly helped me so professionally and was attentive, I asked if she knew about hiking boots. She replied she was very knowledgeable. I’ve been looking for boots for about two weeks. Scheels of great falls lost a sale when I asked two different associates about boots but they didn’t know anything. When Shelly told me about the different boots and asked what I wanted in a boot, she got me a 10.5 and a 10.5 wide. The wide is what I needed. She asked if I was happy with them and I said yes. She insisted on testing them for comfort and after a test I walked out of the store with an 11 wide boot, tent pole repair kit, and a tent patch kit. For $190 pair of boots, they earned my business. Shelly even helped me with some hiking trails to take my dogs on and camp. Top notch place of business, customer service through the roof, and amazing people.

I feel horrible I forgot his name, but the service I received purchasing new shoes for work as a CNA was above and beyond. He knew exactly what I was talking about and helped me find what I really needed for my job!!! I bought two pairs even!!! Thank you so much!!!

Awesome experience. Even though they didn't have what I needed the help was fantastic. The gentleman that helped me with a seat post was awesome. Customer service is key. I will be back to shop for future items.

Service is Top Notch from people who actually know what they are talking about. The gear they sell is only the BEST, but if there is a problem they take care of you better than any other business. Unlike other companies and their employees, these guys take pride in what they do. The best part is, you don't have to pay extra for this service. More often then not, their prices are the same or better then the competition. So if you love the outdoors, and you want the BEST, this is the place to go!

One of the things I love about shopping here is that they know their gear! The staff is helpful and always has great advice.

Gear is not about ownership. It is about service, and knowledge. You can buy gear anywhere online, usually cheaper, but you don't get service. You don't get local knowledge as to where to go and where you might use it. Chris and his staff know their gear, know where to go and will help you get the most out of your experience. Get that from an online store

Every member of the staff is so helpful. Doesn’t matter what I’m looking for, they ask questions to find out what I really need and match me with the right equipment/shoes/general stuff. They also make excellent gift suggestions!

THE best place in N Central MT for all outdoor recreation needs. What they don't carry (which isn't much), they will find for you. Exceptional service.

Big Horn is one of a kind. All star customer service and attention to detail. Bought an Arc Teryx jacket, and in a rush got the wrong size. Brought it back the next morning, no hassles no grief. Just friendly service. Great Falls is lucky to have this shop.

This is the best place to get equipment for all your outdoor activities. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and I have always been happy with everything I've gotten! They always have great product recommendations. Only place I buy, and I also feel great about keeping my money local. I like helping a privately owned local business, not some big Corporate Place.

The staff truly are wonderful people. I won a sleeping bag from them last month and we buy all our backpacking gear here. Every time we come in they know us and want to hear about our latest adventures. They treat everyone like family, I’ve never had any sort of rude or slightly bad experience here. Hiking the CDT & needed new shoes. Drove into Great Falls and found this AMAZING store. They had EVERYTHING I needed (& then some). The owner was so very helpful & knowledgeable about the shoes & what I needed them for. He took time helping me & didn’t make me feel like he was in a hurry to get to the next customer. That is Much appreciated! The other staff in the store were also very kind & professional. It is SO refreshing to do business with folks like this. Wonderful experience here. The staff made themselves available for questions without hovering or condescending. We found what we wanted and got some great recommendations. Prices were all reasonable, and stock was well organized. We were very happy to find this excellent outfitters.

The people at Bighorn Outdoor Specialists have some good Back Packers equipment. I visit their store for camper freeze dried food occasionally. Today I found Pepper beer and rice freeze dried camping packages. I hopes it's like the Italian Pepper Steak I like.

Very knowledgeable, sales staff use what they sell or welcome feedback on anything they haven't used themselves. Very impressed with selection based on quality. Friendly shopping with education on products available in person which I think is better than online. Check them out if you're in the market for outdoor gear!

Amazing store. Chris was helpful over the phone and helped install a great roof rack on my truck. This is a great example of why you should support local family businesses! Very thankful for this store and it's staff.

Incredible selection for a small family owned business. Staff is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I always enjoy going in there, chatting with staff, and finding what I'm looking for. They also rent equipment like kayaks, SUPs, and skis to name a few.
