If you are looking for a roofer, you cannot find a finer one than Derek Moyes of Accountable Roofing Services Ltd. Our original cedar shake roof was 30 years old and we had a leak from the kitchen skylight. I did a lot of research on Homestars and made a list of a number of roofing companies, including Accountable Roofing Services Ltd. I was impressed by the high praise that Derek received from his satisfied customers. There was one review in particular that caught my eye where a senior had noticed Derek's crew working on a house down the street from his home. The senior had a minor repair that he needed done on his roof so he walked down to Derek's job site and told him about it. Derek accompanied the senior back to his home and did the repair right then and there while his crew continued working on the other house. If I recall correctly, the cost of the repair was $160. He was busy with a job, but he made the time to help out the senior in need. This told me a lot about his character.

For that reason, I called Derek first and asked him for a quotation on the cost of repair, if possible, and the cost of replacement with asphalt shingle. I also asked him to look at the 6 skylights and the kitchen skylight in particular since it was leaking. He provided us with quotations to replace the 6 skylights and to repair the cedar shake roof as well as a quotation for a totally new asphalt shingle roof, including 6 new skylights. What impressed me was his honesty in providing me with a repair quotation which was a fraction of the cost of a new roof. In the end, my wife and I opted for a new roof with GAF HD shingles and 6 new skylights.

The work on the new roof with GAF HD shingles including installation of 6 new skylights was started on August 5 and completed in 4 working days. Derek is a very detail oriented person and kept us informed throughout the process. He took many pictures and it was obvious from looking at them that he was meticulous in making sure that he did a perfect job. We have a lot of flowerbeds, small trees and bushes in our garden around our home and Derek made sure that everything was properly covered and protected. Derek was there every day not only supervising by doing some of the work himself. He was the last person to leave every day. After the crew did a once over on our lawn to pick up nails and debris, Derek went over it again in detailed fashion to make sure that everything was picked up. He and his crew always tidied all of their equipment and supplies at the end of each day so that our property was not left looking like a construction site.

I think that Derek's company Accountable Roofing Services Ltd. is the only one which comes with a 20 year leakproof warranty. I believe that other companies offer a 10 year warranty. GAF shingles also come with a warranty and Derek attends to registration of the warranty after completion of the job so that the customer does not have to worry about it.

As I said, I made a list of the roofing companies with high ratings on Homestars with the intention of calling them after speaking to Derek first. I did not follow through with this plan. After speaking with Derek, I did not need to contact the other companies. I felt completely comfortable dealing with Derek who is a completely honest and upstanding guy. With Derek, customers come first.

We are very happy with our new roof and skylights. He provided us with a lot of pictures and even took a short drone video of the new roof!

Water appeared in my ceiling. I called Derek and he came out the next day, diagnosed the issue and it turned out there was a leak in one of my gutter areas. Accountable Roofing Services recently converted our cedar shake roof to asphalt shingles. From start to finish, Derek oversaw the work in a most professional, knowledgeable and reliable manner. Derek visited the job site regularly to ensure things were progressing smoothly and communicated regularly with us. Every day, Derek and his crew (Dan, Heidi, Ed) left the job site clean and tidy that even the neighbours commented to us as to how neat things were left during the roofing process. Never have we had someone so meticulous with work and attention to detail including inspection and corrective action to ensure quality.
