We had a great experience at Windy Chevy! Eric is very friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and overall a fun guy to talk to. Jess worked with us to get what we wanted and went above and beyond to help us out on a time crunch. They had lost the original tech report done on the vehicle of purchase but they were professional and were able to run another one right away. Excellent customer service. Highly recommend!

Ellensburg Chevrolet is the only place I’ll purchase a vehicle because of the amazing experience I receive every time I’m there. This is our third vehicle from them and I couldn’t recommend them more.

Absolutely Do Not Recommend – Go to Yakima Instead

We purchased a vehicle from Windy City Chevy on July 5, and by July 7, the battery was dead. We brought the car back to have the codes cleared, and although things seemed to be running fine for a couple of days, DEF system codes began again on July 9.

We returned the vehicle to the service department, where it sat for nearly two weeks. During that entire time, it was only worked on for maybe three days total. The rest of the time, it felt like we were completely forgotten.

Communication was abysmal. The service department never called us with updates — we had to chase them down daily. Evan, our supposed point of contact, was completely uncommunicative even when we were sitting in the building. When I called Jessica from sales on the first visit, she said she’d call back within the hour — she never did, and then ignored me entirely while I was waiting with two young kids in their un-airconditioned waiting room (it was 90° inside).

Neither the sales nor service departments showed any concern or accountability. The sales team was unapologetic, and service acted like we were a nuisance. For a dealership that claims to perform a multi-point inspection, this experience was unacceptable.

I would never recommend buying a car from Windy City Chrysler. If you’re considering it, do yourself a favor and drive to Yakima. It’s just 40 minutes away and will save you weeks of frustration. This place is unprofessional, disorganized, and completely lacks customer service. Avoid at all costs.

I like the car but wish it was a 2 door a larger vehicle you have more room for junk you've gotta clean out every few weeks

Windy Chevrolet's service department provided exceptional services during the repair of my vehicle. They were patient and understanding even when my insurance company wasn't. They kept in touch with me on the progress of my insurance claim and the repair of my vehicle. It was a long five months waiting for my insurance company to approve the repair of my vehicle, but Windy Chevrolet stood with me and got my insurance company to approve my repair. I highly recommend this dealership to anyone needed repairs to their vehicle.

Battery died on a drive heading east. Got jumped and they were the closest dealership/service shop to where I was. They got me in, checked the battery, got it replaced, and had me on my way within an hour. Everyone was friendly. Great experience overall.

I am so thankful Windy Chevrolet was able to help me. I was passing through town and my check engine light came on on my Subaru. They were able to fit me in, run a diagnostic and let me know what was going on. Thank you so much, Evan!

I developed a leak in the upper radiator hose while heading for vacation at Banks Lake. I was very happy that they could get me in to replace the hose. I was surprised to find out that it would cost $560.00 for the job. If I had been home, I could have done the job for under $50.00. They used an aftermarket hose that I could buy at NAPA auto parts for $21.00. I know a business has bills to pay, but I'm glad it wasn't a water pump.

They were very happy to help me and got me in the car I wanted…Only thing I would have liked to see done differently is for them to put some gas in it as I had a 90 mile drive back home and there was only a quarter tank of gas in the car (70 miles) plus there was no windshield wiper fluid in the car…They also said it has a back up camera, which is true, but the monitor is all scrambled when the car is in reverse so that function doesn’t work…Very helpful people though.

We had a great experience with most of the staff. Ron, Cade and Eric were just as great as could be. We broke down while traveling just outside of Ellensburg, and had called the dealership looking for a recommendation for a good mechanic in the area. Ron put his computer on the car, let us know the error codes and we could discuss the problem and make an informed decision right there.
We chose to trade in our vehicle and they put us in a car that met our needs, helped by keeping us in budget, moving our belongings, and even our bike hitch and bikes over to our new vehicle.
The only sour taste was working with Dustin in Finance. We did not want to purchase the extended warranties and even after telling him no three times. He couldn’t explain to us clearly what we were purchasing, and didn’t have information that we could read to help us understand what we purchased.
After we left the dealership, and in working with our auto insurance provider, determined to purchase the gap coverage from them, and purchase the wrap around coverage from a third party. Dustin took a day and a half to return a phone call, and when he did indicated he couldn’t cancel the coverage without us returning to the dealership (we live on the west side of the Cascades).
Ron has us taken care of, the coverages have been removed from our auto loan without a return trip to Ellensburg, and we will be leaving a five star review, and look forward to driving across the mountains the next time we need a vehicle.

If you shop here prepare for highway robbery. They sold us a Nissan Maxima 204k miles, listed price was $2495, but when we got there they tried to charge us $5,000, in addition to all the fees that were tacked on. The car wasn't even detailed, it's dirty as hell. To top it all off, when we went to pick up the plates, they didn't even put the plates on for us.

Took advantage of my family when we were in a difficult position. Worst car dealership experience we've had.

These guys were my last hope before having to travel to a dealership in Spokane or Seattle. I came in for an oil change and as I did with 3 other dealerships, I asked them to check out my transmission for irregular shifting and a leak in my roof. They found and fixed both issues in a timely manor and kept me updated the whole way! I am very satisfied with the process and glad that I gave them the chance to make things right! In today's market and with vehicles being so expensive, I'm glad I founda place I can finally trust! A HUGE thank you to Lily and Ron!!!

Had a great experiance today at Windy Chevy, had them cut me a spare key and program an extra keyfob as I bought my '23 Trail Blazer used and it onlt came with one key and fob. Everything works perfect and now that we're a 2 GM family, we'll be getting our issues taken care of there!

My husband brought his truck here for repairs because it started leaking transmission fluid and he didn’t want to drive it dry. There was also a check engine light and we wanted to get that addressed as well. We had it towed there, and have an extended warranty which covered it. We dropped it off and waited OVER 7 WEEKS to get it back. 7 weeks! They kept saying “oh we’re just waiting on xyz, it should just be another day or two” and they kept making excuses every time we called (about twice a week). We had contacted the warranty company, and they said the dealership wasn’t following up with them and that’s why it was taking so long. When we went in to pick it up, it was dead, and wouldn’t start! They made us wait for a tech to be available to jump it and it still had the check engine light on. Awful customer service, nothing but excuses, and it was always someone else’s fault but their own every time we talked to someone. Apparently they had a change in management in the meantime, and while the new manager was nice enough, he again all the excuses and said he didn’t know about the issue or how long it had been there. Not to mention whenever my husband called and was patient and kind on the phone, the girl at the front desk would hang up on him when he asked to be transferred to the service department to check on the status of his truck. We’ve never had a worse experience and have told everyone we know to steer clear. Bring your business anywhere else but this dumpster fire.

Overall a nice quick service experience for a LOF. I was in and out in 50 minutes. The desk agent was friendly and took care of my appointment. The waiting area was nice and had small snacks. I am torn a bit now because I usually travel to Yakima for my services and in the end staying here local cost about $40 more. I'm not taking a star from the review for that. I'm assuming because Windy was not my purchase dealer ?

We have bought multiple times from all three dealerships in town. Don’t buy from here. As a long time generational resident of Ellensburg this company does not live up to the standards of our community, the respect and commitment to honesty that Ellensburg hold dear in businesses here. Very disappointing to have this kind of business since their ownership change in this town. I recommend using others in town that are locally owned and understand this town is what keeps them in business long term.

I brought my recently purchased 2019 2500HD in for service and multipoint inspection. Aaron in was friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. He understood what I wanted and offered input and suggestions for creating a good service baseline. They took time to do the work right, provided a detailed report in the end, and even gave me a shute ride while the truck was I service. Cost was a bit high but reasonable. A good experience all around.

This problem is two part. last year I caught the transmission leak before it was bad, drove to the dealership and waited 40 plus days to replace small part by part to get the leak fixed. Now a year later the same part blows out while driving, all the transmission fluid gone, transmission slipping so bad it wont move. Oil is all over vehicle and my small boat. Got the truck towed by GM roadside service to dealership. Same thing same leak, this time it takes just about 8 days. The dealer says its good to go now problems. Everybody on the planet knows this transmission is compromised. Now I know this is not the dealers fault they are at the directive of GM. I go pick up the truck and the dealer says oh GM figured out the issue and has a redesigned cooler line. ( that should of been notified and recalled directly to me this would not of been a problem) Now I can not trust a new vehicle with under 21K miles. The final, I walk to my truck STILL covered in tranny oil, THATS Terrible dealer service I know of NO dealership that would do that!

I went into Windy Chevrolet on December 30, 2022 in desperate need of a good used vehicle. Upon selecting one, I asked about its maintenance record and timing belt/chain status. They assured me it was not an issue. I laid $1500 down and financed the rest. The car lasted only 8 weeks before the timing belt failed on the highway, destroying the cylinder heads. I can't afford an engine rebuild, nor a new engine. I'm now making monthly payments on a dead vehicle that Windy Chevrolet will not stand behind. Horrible experience. Horrible business.

Update: it's now been 30 months, and I've corresponded with them 4 times, including a recent attempt on Dealerrater.com. They won't stand behind the vehicle they unloaded on me. All they offered (in June 2023) was to put me in ANOTHER, more expensive vehicle, absoring the dead car's loan balance into an new, inflated loan at what is surely to be a ridiculously high APR...in exchange for my removing this honest online review. To be clear, they want to bleed me for more money AND they want me to remove this factual review. Bottom line: Windy Chevrolet knowingly sold me a piece of refurbished trash and they now refuse to do the right thing. The least they could do is refund my $1500 down payment. Let's see if they are decent enough to offer that. As of July 2025, there has been no attempt at a down-payment refund.

I am a long-time resident of both Yakima and Ellensburg, and I will tell everyone I know exactly what happened to me at Windy Chevrolet.

Don't be fooled by dealer-promoted "positive" reviews on this and other review websites. AVOID this dealership in 2025 and beyond.

This good rating is ONLY because of Ron Stratton and Aaron Murdock. Though i know there are other good people at this dealership these guys are the GREATS and the reason I keep coming back! the type of people i could BBQ on the weekends with. When the dealership sold i was not willing to take and additional price increase and had started to place another order with another dealership. When Kayla from GM called me i told her i was moving on as well, i wasnt looking for a handout - it just came down to good faith at this point. Ron got us back to the original agreement even though i said i wasnt coming back. It is only because of Ron and Aaron that im willing to eat my words and swallow my pride because of my relationship with them along with Zach and Mackenzie back at the shop. These 4 assets...Heartbeat of America, maybe? Definitely the heartbeat of Windy Chevrolet!!! Glad that i stayed with this group.

Pricing questions
1. What is the average roof replacement cost for a residential home?
+-

The average roof replacement cost for a residential home typically ranges from $7,000 to $15,000, depending on factors such as roof size, chosen materials, roof pitch, and labor rates in your area. Premium materials or complex designs may increase the price.

2. How much does it usually cost to replace the roof of a commercial building?

The cost to replace the roof of a commercial building typically ranges from $5 to $12 per square foot, depending on several factors such as roof size, material, labor rates, building type, and local code requirements.

3. What factors affect the overall roof repair cost?
+-

Several factors influence roof repair cost, including the extent of the damage, roof accessibility, material type, labor costs, and whether it’s a general repair or an emergency fix. Minor repairs can start around $150–$400, while major repairs may exceed $1,500.

4. What is the typical roof leak repair cost, and how is it calculated?

Service questions
1. Should I stay home during roof replacement?

It's not necessary to stay home during roof replacement. Roofing work is noisy and can cause vibrations inside the house, which might be uncomfortable. Most homeowners choose to leave during major parts of the project, but our team ensures safety and keeps you updated, whether you're home or not.

2. How long does roof replacement take?
+-

The timeline for a roof replacement typically ranges from one to three days, depending on the size and complexity of the roof, weather conditions, and material type. Larger or more intricate roofs may take a bit longer, but we always aim for efficient, timely completion.

3. How to hire a roofing contractor?
+-

To hire a roofing contractor, start by researching local companies with good reviews and proper licensing. Request quotes from multiple contractors, verify their insurance and certifications, and ask for references. Always ensure you get a written contract that outlines the scope of work, timeline, and payment terms.

4. How to check if a roofing company is legit?
+-

Check if a roofing company is legit by verifying their business license, insurance, and local certifications. Look for memberships in professional associations, read customer reviews, and ask for recent project references. A legitimate company will be transparent and provide all documentation upon request.

5. How to choose a roofing company?
+-

When choosing a roofing company, consider their experience, customer reviews, warranty offerings, and quality of materials. Make sure they provide clear communication, detailed estimates, and a solid portfolio of completed projects. Local expertise is also a major advantage for understanding regional roofing needs.

6. How do you know if your roofing contractor is ripping you off?
+-

Warning signs that your roofing contractor might be ripping you off include vague contracts, pressure to pay large upfront deposits, lack of proper documentation, and unexplained price increases. Always ask for itemized estimates and written guarantees, and avoid contractors who avoid answering your questions directly.
