Wilton construction did an amazing job on my home after we had severe water damage in both the master bathroom and garage. Initially things were a little shaky after the remediation portion of the job where there were some communication issues but it seemed to be more on my insurance company than Wilton construction themselves. Bryce did a wonderful job on the remediation. Doug did an amazing job getting contractors in fast and was able to meet our deadline to sell our home while providing excellent customer service and quality workmanship. Hailey did a great job making sure the guys stayed on top of things throughout the progress insuring no steps were missed. Thank you Wilton for helping us in a time of need! I wish I had more pictures to show how great everything came out but we literally moved out the day things were completely finished to prepare for the new home owners.

Had water damage in master bath and decided to remodel the whole room. Brian and his crew did a great job. We had some unique requests and they came through. Gave us a time frame and it was met! Very respectful of our home and cleaned as they worked. Would recommend. Wish I could post pictures of the final project.

I had an excellent experience with Wilton Construction! From start to finish, Hailey and Jesse were incredibly professional, responsive, and knowledgeable. They guided me through the entire mitigation process with clear communication and made a stressful situation much easier to handle. The Wilton team arrived promptly and ensured everything was done thoroughly. I highly recommend them to anyone in need of mitigation services—thank you, Hailey and Jesse, for your outstanding service!

The worst. If you use them plan to settle for a lot. After tens of thousands of dollars the original problem still existed.. but not after they got a lot of add ons to drive the price way up via insurance claim. They attempted to say they were finished at one point and I mentioned that the water damage in the main room (the entire reason they were there to begin with) was still there. They literally had to go in for an additional claim amount or they wouldn’t fix it. . With all of the other work left to be done and the amount of stuff that wasn’t broken prior that they broke during the 5/6 months this lingered I still came out of pocket to have someone else do the final repairs and to repair things that initially weren’t even broken. It just wasn’t worth dealing with people like this and the mismanagement of the entire project any more.. I mean, what else would be broke if they completed? The icing: While I waited on the additional and last check from the insurance company the owner had the nerve to send a demand letter.. lol … on work that per our contract agreement was “finished” months after the deadline, I never mentioned that or made waves over it and I paid someone else to finish the work they didn’t do. I just felt it best to wait for the last check to arrive before I paid the small remaining balance.. which I discussed with them in advance and they had said was fine. Anyway, you get the point. I could stay here all day itemizing the mistakes and bad decisions on their part. Find someone else to work on your home.

Wilton Construction did remediation and restoration services to our bathroom after water damage. All services were performed from remediation to tiling and painting. Their crews were always on time, helpful, patient, and respectful. It was a breath of fresh air for us as we have had many bad experiences in the past from other companies for other construction jobs.
Their office was great to work with and were good about keeping in contact with us and our insurance company. We are extremely pleased with all their work, and would highly recommend Wilton for your construction needs.

We had water damage to our half of our house due to a hot water heater. They replaced carpet and dried the floors, so we thought. After two years our subfloors started rotting. We found out that the subflooring was never replaced. Then they said it was the dryer not properly ventilated. When it's obvious the floors rotted because the insulation wasn't replaced and it held the moisture which is from the hot water heater flooding floors. The black paper held the moisture in the floors causing them to rott. We have lived here 27 years and the dryer has never been an issue..

We had a pipe burst on Christmas Day while we were away that caused a good amount of damage. We were completely overwhelmed! Scott and his team (Taryn, Sara, Adam, and Heather) quickly came out and cleaned up everything. They didn’t leave a single thing for us to worry about! I am very grateful for them!

We have been trying to get Wilton to fix multiple issues with work they have done on our home for three months. They continuously tell us that they will schedule work, and then do not make any progress for weeks at a time. They are dishonest about when things will be scheduled, extremely difficult to communicate with, and do not answer the phone or respond to voicemails the majority of the time. Every time someone tells me I will hear back from them they never call back or make any progress scheduling work until I call multiple times and eventually manage to get ahold of someone. Extremely disappointed with the quality of work, customer service, and dishonesty of this business. We have water damage caused by their poor repairs and no idea when or if it will ever be looked at or fixed by them.

I would like to start by saying, "you never get a second chance to make a first impression" I say that as my very first phone call to Wilton Construction was answered by Hailey, I proceed to tell her we had storm damage needed siding repair and replacement as well as the roof and porch. Hailey said she would have someone get back to me. As the day went on Hailey called back to set up an appointment with a gentleman named Marcus. I appreciated her swift response and the fact that I got a quick appointment for estimates. Hailey called the day before to remind me and if I was not unavailable she left a detailed message, and that my friends is the first impression Spot on. Marcus came out with his roofer to do an estimate. They were both friendly, informative and brought to our attention things we did not see as far as damages. Marcus responded to my insurance company right away, never a delay. My insurance company was also impressed by the quick responses and paper work needed. Never a delay. Another first impression. We then dealt with Kelly she sent us our contract to sign, Kelly was professional , explained and addressed any concerns we had to make the process swift. She called me right away when I sent an email with questions. Great personality. Another first impression. We had few concerns getting the roof tiles to match and the siding to match since home is 15 yrs old, BUT Marcus worked it all out and the work was done in timely manner. All Wilton workers who came out to complete the job were friendly, professional and cleaned up as if no one was ever there. Another first impression. Once work was complete we were so satisfied , we hired Wilton Construction to redo our porch steps, beams, partial floor on the front porch. This was not covered by insurance it was normal wear and tear. Wilton gave us a fair price and we had them do the work. Our porch looks great and everyone who comes by notices right away that the porch and house were done and we get great compliments. Brian and his partner did a great job and again , all was cleaned up like no one was there. The porch guys were so friendly. Another first impression. I know this all sounds good and some will say "yeah right " or think its an exaggeration but I will say this. I have been in the Mortgage field for 33 years. I worked for a Broker firm for 11 years that had a builder so I am familiar with problems people have when having work done or being able to contact someone when needed. Not all builders are the same, so I get it if you think this is unbelievable. I assure you , you can do a ride by anytime and see the work for yourself. The curb appeal is great and the repairs are visibly done and the house looks great. I would recommend Wilton Construction to anyone looking for a quick , professional repair to their property. As a matter of fact , we are having Wilton come back in the spring to repair the back deck boards, and as always Marcus responded immediately and I already have my estimate for same. My last contact was Taryn, to discuss how we liked our end result and she was absolutely friendly and a great final first impression. Wilton Construction stands by their work and really care about your home.

Wilton performed a major bathroom remodel job in which they mitigated significant water damage, replaced the subfloor, repaired joists, and tiled the newly replaced subfloor. They apparently only guarantee their work to 1 year, after that you can expect nothing from them. The tile they placed cracked across the length of the entire room, only 1.5 years after installation. Wilton has ignored all of my emails on this issue and apparently refuses to back their work. I highly recommend avoiding this company. Their work and professionalism appeared fine initially, but the quality proved to be poor and they have no customer support outside of the meager 1 year guarentee.

I run an Animal Hospital in Colonial Heights, Wilton came out to assess some mold issues we were having. They were quick and efficient in mitigating the mold and replacing the affected ceiling tiles. They were also able to pinpoint a leak in our roof and gave us several options on repairs that were cost effective and long-lasting. They were mindful of our business hours and did not disturb our workflow. I will forever be using this company!!

Sadly, I am posting this for a second time after noticing my review had been taken down. The original was posted in 2018, but after a friend needed a renovation company I noticed my review on Google had been removed for some strange reason. So here it is once again as originally stated (good thing I keep copies):

So after over 4 years I feel absolutely comfortable writing this review. We were referred to Wilton via our insurance company after a pipe burst in our attic. I should have known after a few weeks this wasn't a good fit, but we just wanted the job done and our house back to normal. Immediately after the work was done we had issues with billing. The insurance company paid us and we in turn were to pay Wilton. When I asked for a detailed invoice, there was a lot of hesitation, but I finally got it. They were billing for work that was never performed, and materials that were never purchased, so I paid them what we owed them (after much dispute) minus the stuff they didn't do or buy. We had to have another contractor come and finish some minor things they either missed or messed up. Now 4 years later we are having things redone that they did (drywall seems on the ceiling and some walls, caulking around baseboards, repainting due to peeling). Strangely there are no seems coming apart from the original workmanship of the house, nor is there any other caulking at baseboards to be redone other than that Wilton had their hands in. If I had it to do all over again, I would not choose Wilton despite my insurance company's suggestion. Do your homework before you are in crisis mode like we were!

*** edited 6/2/20 My "aged" review (per the owner) still holds true since one of the major sources of contention remains with your "team." Mr. Marcus Thompson still works there in a rather prominent position, I might add; so why would I expect anything different 7 years later?

Wilton Construction is amazing. My family was without an oven for two months. The installation of the new oven required alterations in cabinetry and new electrical work. A few days before installation a different company cancelled due to COVID. Bryan Lynch with Wilton was at my house within a day of me contacting them and had my new ovens installed within a few days. Bryan was professional, timely, communicated well, and provided skilled services. They put my mind at ease during a stressful situation. I highly recommend and will use them again.

While I was on vacation, I received a frantic phone call telling me the kitchen faucet in my rental house had leaked for nearly a week! Panic immediately set in. After speaking with several companies, I contacted Jesse at Wilton Construction and knew immediately he could guide me through this catastrophic disaster. He and Kyle promptly came out to survey the house and mitigate any additional damage. Jesse is very customer oriented, extremely knowledgeable, helpful and honest! His crew was always polite and professional. Jesse walked me through the process, gave me a very detailed quote and assisted me in filing my claim. He would checked in with me at regular intervals during the work, so I was always informed of what was going on. There was never a phone call or text to which he did not immediately respond. This team really cares about helping people, and did a fantastic job! I feel so fortunate to have discovered this great Wilton team and highly recommend them! If I could, I would give them 10 stars. Thanks guys!

With no hesitation at all, I fully recommend Wilton for your next remodel or, gosh forbid for your next water/fire damage. They are outstanding. And I have exceedingly high standards!

From their down to earth estimator, Marcus, whose humor and professionalism constantly put my mind at ease...to the project manager, Brian, who was at my house diligently checking on minute details [and I am PICKY!] ... each workman was as highly skilled, CLEAN, respectful and efficient as you could possibly want. Even the rare subcontractor was fully aware of Wilton's high standards and worked just as hard.

Let me put it this way, it's not fun to have a huge dishwasher leak create extensive damage. No, it's incredibly stressful. But Wilton made it as painless as possible. And the finished product is stunning. Worthy of an Archie Digest spread! I would use them again in a heart beat!

I just used Wilton Construction for the second time, and was pleased with their service. The first time I used them to remodel my kitchen and master bath which looked great. This time they remodeled two more bathrooms. Their quotes are fair and competitive. Their timeline is realistic, and they go above an beyond to make sure the customer is satisfied. I highly recommend them, and will be using them for any future projects.

Wilton Construction Inc. was my Hallelujah! My project manager and his team of painters, plumbers, demolition, electricians, cleaners, etc. were all punctual, courteous and respectful of time constraints. My project manager made a very complex project simplified and made sure that I was involved in every step and decision of this process. They also accommodated us with schedule changes. I would recommend Wilton Construction to anyone who is planning to take on the big task of remodeling, renovating and/or reconstructing their homes.

My husband and I had them come in and redo our basement by adding a bathroom. They were very easy to work with from start to finish. The project manager met us onsite to go over what we were looking to complete in the space. Within a couple weeks we were given a detailed billing of the cost. On a side note we had 5 other contractors come out and go over the scope of work, and NONE of them contacted us or provided us with an estimate for work. Once the contract was signed, we were provided a timeline of when we could expect the different trades in the house. They stayed true to the timeline, and there was a problem with ordering material, they would reach out to me and let me know. Everyone that we interacted with there were super nice, informative and very professional. I would highly recommend them for any restoration services you need.

I scheduled an appointment for an estimate for hail damage to my home. The meeting went well. The appraiser stated that I would have a quote by Monday afternoon which was 3 days away. After 5 days I sent an email asking for an update and got no response. After 10 days I emailed again and included his manager in the email. This got a response but no results. I stated that it is fine if you are not interested in the job but it is polite to communicate that instead of providing false deadlines and having me anticipating a quote. The last communication from the appraiser stated that they were very eager to do the work and that I would receive the quote the following Monday. That last deadline has now been passed by two weeks. The initial meeting was a month ago and my time has been wasted and I have nothing to show for it. There was nothing to be gained by dragging me along with no intention of following through. Very unprofessional and complete lack of respect and communication.

I would not recommend this company. Granted, I only needed their services to put tarp over some wind damage so I cannot vouch for their construction; however, they were not professional in the slightest.
They were very quick to respond after I called them needing help. A wind storm blew shingles off my roof and a forecast for rain that night had me worried. Two men showed up probably an hour after I called. I asked straight forward how much the services would cost and they said "Don't worry about it. We'll send the bill to your insurance and they'll cover it."
The tarp was put in place maybe half hour or so after they arrived; however, they spent nearly an hour picking up shingles blown into my yard from the storm. I repeatedly told them I will get the shingles but they insisted that they will pick up the debris for me. After they finished, they asked me to sign a paper. The line beside the price wasn't filled out and I had asked again how much it cost. Again, I was told not to worry.

I noticed they were parked outside my house for about another hour. They weren't in their truck, it was just parked out there. My boyfriend remembers me saying on the phone "I wonder if they're trying to run the clock."

My insurance adjustor called about two weeks after the damage asking how much the tarp cost - apparently, they never sent a bill like they had told me. I called them for days and left voicemail after voicemail. A woman finally called back but only said someone would call me soon about the price.

Nobody ever called.

Two months after they had come to my house, a letter from them shows up. It's a bill for $615. No itemized list of how they got that number, just "you owe us this" by the end of the month. I was FLOORED because that is more than 1/3 of all the insurance money I got to fix my roof (which I couldn't fix because I didn't know how much money would be left after paying Wilton). I left more voicemails demanding an itemized list of how this costs so much. Two days later, a woman calls and mails me the cost. I was charged for two men and also charged for those two men working overtime for 2 hours. Now, I admit, they came on a weekend so I will pay the off-hour charge. However, why do I have to pay more because their worker is on overtime? Does a waitress charge more for a meal because she's on overtime? Or a nurse on overtime for their care? You pay the company for the product, the company pays the worker - not how much time it took them to finish.

Another problem I have with the bill is that I was paying those guys by the hour, not for the job of covering the damage on my roof. So I paid their wage + their overtime to pick up shingles and go wherever they went for an hour after finishing their job. Sounds like lazy workers to me. I will gladly pay for the work they did but I do not see how I'm responsible for how long it took them to do that job.

They may do good work but they will scam you and goof off while you pay them to be on the clock.

Pricing questions
1. What is the average roof replacement cost for a residential home?
+-

The average roof replacement cost for a residential home typically ranges from $7,000 to $15,000, depending on factors such as roof size, chosen materials, roof pitch, and labor rates in your area. Premium materials or complex designs may increase the price.

The cost to replace the roof of a commercial building typically ranges from $5 to $12 per square foot, depending on several factors such as roof size, material, labor rates, building type, and local code requirements.

3. What factors affect the overall roof repair cost?
+-

Several factors influence roof repair cost, including the extent of the damage, roof accessibility, material type, labor costs, and whether it’s a general repair or an emergency fix. Minor repairs can start around $150–$400, while major repairs may exceed $1,500.

4. What is the typical roof leak repair cost, and how is it calculated?

Service questions
1. Should I stay home during roof replacement?
+-

It's not necessary to stay home during roof replacement. Roofing work is noisy and can cause vibrations inside the house, which might be uncomfortable. Most homeowners choose to leave during major parts of the project, but our team ensures safety and keeps you updated, whether you're home or not.

2. How long does roof replacement take?
+-

The timeline for a roof replacement typically ranges from one to three days, depending on the size and complexity of the roof, weather conditions, and material type. Larger or more intricate roofs may take a bit longer, but we always aim for efficient, timely completion.

3. How to hire a roofing contractor?
+-

To hire a roofing contractor, start by researching local companies with good reviews and proper licensing. Request quotes from multiple contractors, verify their insurance and certifications, and ask for references. Always ensure you get a written contract that outlines the scope of work, timeline, and payment terms.

4. How to check if a roofing company is legit?
+-

Check if a roofing company is legit by verifying their business license, insurance, and local certifications. Look for memberships in professional associations, read customer reviews, and ask for recent project references. A legitimate company will be transparent and provide all documentation upon request.

5. How to choose a roofing company?
+-

When choosing a roofing company, consider their experience, customer reviews, warranty offerings, and quality of materials. Make sure they provide clear communication, detailed estimates, and a solid portfolio of completed projects. Local expertise is also a major advantage for understanding regional roofing needs.

6. How do you know if your roofing contractor is ripping you off?
+-

Warning signs that your roofing contractor might be ripping you off include vague contracts, pressure to pay large upfront deposits, lack of proper documentation, and unexplained price increases. Always ask for itemized estimates and written guarantees, and avoid contractors who avoid answering your questions directly.
