About the Business
What people say about “Wayne Homes Bowling Green Model Center”?
Customer feedback on Wayne Homes presents a mixed sentiment. While many customers appreciate the professionalism and helpfulness of the staff, particularly during the initial stages of the home-building process, there are significant concerns regarding communication and project management once construction begins. Negative reviews highlight severe issues with mismanagement, incorrect installations, and a lack of timely updates from the field managers. This divide suggests that while some customers are satisfied with their overall experience, others have faced considerable frustrations that impact their perception of the company.

If it weren’t for our great experience with Chelsea and the other ladies in the office at the start, we wouldn’t have chosen Wayne Homes for our new build. They were professional, helpful, and made us feel excited to begin. Unfortunately, things went downhill once construction started—especially after our original Field Manager, James, left. He communicated well, but after Stuart took over, we were left in the dark. Builder Signal stopped being used after drywall in October, and we had to reach out constantly for updates. Weeks would go by with no communication, leaving us frustrated and uncertain about our timeline.
From the beginning, we made our communication preferences clear. We’re not difficult to please—I’d rather hear bad news than no news. But weeks went by with silence, leaving us frustrated and uncertain. Most disappointing was how we were made to feel like an inconvenience. We didn’t expect special treatment, but we did expect professionalism and the level of service we were promised. The care and attention we experienced at the start completely disappeared once construction got underway.
We were never told distance might be an issue, so we were surprised when it suddenly felt like a challenge to get things scheduled for our house. Our build—45 miles from their office—felt like an afterthought. If that was going to be a challenge, it should’ve been disclosed upfront. Instead, we were left constantly following up to keep things on track.
Our dig day was June 27th. We had a newborn in late November, and we were told we’d be in by Christmas. We appreciated the optimism, but would’ve preferred a realistic timeline. Progress stalled for nearly six weeks during my maternity leave.
We finally closed April 15th—months past expectations—and had to reschedule the sale of our previous home multiple times. I work in construction, so I understand delays due to weather, subcontractors, and utility installs. But with better communication, we could’ve navigated it more efficiently. Instead, we were left guessing and chasing updates.
Throughout the build, we had four different Field Managers. Tim, who stepped in at the end, was a bright spot—responsive, professional, and a big help in wrapping things up.
Most of the trades were great. The electricians, drywaller, and painters were phenomenal—I’d recommend them to anyone. The plumbers, though, were a constant frustration. It seems like they come and go as they please, with no accountability from Wayne Homes. We were told they’d caused issues on other builds and were being considered for replacement, but they remained on our project and caused two significant delays. Though our water lines were eventually handled, the repeated stalls added stress and dragged the timeline even further. If this was a known issue, it should’ve been addressed more proactively.
That said, we are very happy with how everything looks. The finished product is beautiful, and we’re so glad to finally be in our home.
When problems came up, they did eventually get resolved—but only because we caught them ourselves and followed up persistently. After our original Field Manager left, we had to start making regular trips to the site just to stay informed and ensure things were getting addressed. This was incredibly inconvenient because we lived an hour out of the way, and we were told that’s exactly why they use Builder Signal—to provide real-time updates without homeowners needing to be on-site. It was incredibly frustrating. We began this process with high hopes, thanks to our initial experience, but after framing, it was obvious our project was no longer a priority.
If your build is close to their office and you’re willing to act as your own Field Manager, maybe you’ll have a better experience. But for us, it was exhausting and disappointing. I unfortunately cannot recommend Wayne Homes.
Dropped by Wayne Homes today while headed to Toledo for some fun. Stopped by Schumacher in December. These homes are quite impressive and nicely decorated. Was basically trying to get some ideas. Erin helped us out and was very friendly and professional. The middle model is impressive. I could almost just live in the basement of it.
The ladies at the office are great. Heidi, our Design Consultant was very detailed when going over plans and picking finishes. Things we didn't even think about, she did! Overall we are in love with our home. The contractors Wayne Homes used did a great job. Any concerns we had our field manager, David addressed right away. Even being in our home now for a month, we keep in touch with David. Majority of the issues we encountered were with things that Wayne Homes doesn't deal with (water, sewage, electric hookups on our land). Even though they didn't have part of that, they still helped and gave advice on how to proceed. It took approx 9 months form our dig date to move in. Each step of the way we were able to look at the work being completed as well as add anything we wanted on our own. I would build with Wayne Homes again.
