Utmost Renovations recently completed re-building the chimney on my house. The price was excellent, and the work was superb. I was able to pick out the color of the brick (red), so it went with the brick on the front of my house, and it looks wonderful. Mark worked with me in terms of when to start, and the crew was very friendly, super competent, and also did a fantastic job of cleaning up. Couldn't be happier!

Impressed with the company from the time I got the estimate until the jobs were completed. Had chimney work done and sealed, lentil on garage door and tuck pointing on brick. Also loose brick on fireplace. Always communicated with me on the progress of the jobs and how it looked. Showed up at good times to do the work and cleaned up afterwards. This is a great company and would recommend them that needed any kind of masonry work done .

Utmost Renovations is prompt and dependable, their skilled workers display an obvious pride in their craft. My very old house required some tuck pointing as well as repairing and adding a small span of wall. It is really lovely work. They matched mortar color the pointing was so well done. I was kept up to date on progress and completion time as well as an explanation of what was happening in real time. I originally had Utmost rebuild a chimney and knew they were the company to choose for the rest of this work. I don't believe you could find a better masonry firm in the Central Ohio area.

Just wanted to share a VERY positive experience I had with Utmost Renovations. Mark and his team restored 3 chimneys and several other brick walls on our historic brick home. Could not be more impressed with the quality of work, personal service and attention to every detail.

Our chimney had moisture issues, spalling bricks, old flakey internal damper, and a deteriorating paint-like moisture seal. After watching Utmost rebuild another chimney in our neighborhood and talking to the home owners, who were very satisfied and impressed with the work and workers, we contacted Mark Huffer at Utmost.
He came out, inspected the chimney and firebox and gave us a very reasonable estimate based on repairs rather than replacement and recommended sealing the entire chimney. We scheduled the work, his workers came out and in a couple of days repaired the affected bricks and shoulders, removed the old paint seal, tuck-pointed where needed, repaired the flue top and installed a new crown cap with damper that can be activated from inside the firebox. And finally, sealed the chimney against moisture.
Even with ordering the custom damper the whole process took three weekdays total. The Utmost team was professional, prompt everyday and always cleaned up afterwards.
We are VERY satisfied with Mark and Co.’s work and look forward to using our fireplace a lot more now.

They just finished up some spot work on our three story brick 100+year old house. They worked through despite all the rain and bad weather this last week. Looks good. Utmost Renovations was referred to me by my cousin who works in real estate in central Ohio. This company did a great job for me on two different projects. In a day and age where it is hard to find contractors who are willing to work and take on projects, Utmost Renovations rose to the occasion.
They were timely in response to my initial contact of them by phone and went on site to review the project needs. Giving me a timely and thorough assessment of what work needed to be done, how they would do it and an accurate cost analysis.
One project was masonry work on a 170 year old historical brick home. The other project was repairing brick chimneys on my father’s home that another contractor had made a mess of years ago and never completed the job properly. Different project scopes of need, but completed within 2 weeks of contacting them and getting the initial estimates.
The work was flawless. Completed by workers who were on time and knew what they were doing. They were courteous and respectful of my time and my property. They kept me updated on what they were doing and when. They cleaned up at the end of everyday before leaving and at the end of the projects. You would never know anyone had been there except for the incredible end result. Completing the work, doing exactly what they said they would do.

I have worked with Mark and his company on multiple occasions for my personal residence. I have never had a contractor that is so customer focused and prompt with updates. Mark was exceptional to work with in getting my estimate quickly. He called me within minutes of my online request and was very fair with pricing and his timetable. The work was completed professionally and well within the time frame specified. He even advised me on a less expensive route in one phase of my job. I have never had a contractor do that! We highly recommend Utmost Renovations for your masonry work. Our job entailed a complete redo of out front steps (including pouring new concrete base) from the street up to our limestone treads, repair of a walkway at the side of our house, and repair of two sets of back yard steps. We had had these areas repaired in the past by another masonry company and were thoroughly unsatisfied with the work. It was complete slop.

The first thing that impressed us was the responsiveness by Mark (the owner) and his son, Van, I don't think we waited more than 12 hours for a response to any of our questions/requests and each time the response was helpful. If we didn't understand something, they were patient and helped us through the explanation. Once we finalized the pricing and scope of work, they were able to get started on the work within a couple of weeks. The crew showed up on time every morning, no excuses. The entire job took about two weeks and the finished product looks great. They also did a great job cleaning up after the job was over.

Finding good contractors these days is no easy task. It is astonishing how many contractors don't return phone calls, don't show up for estimates, or don't care about their finished product. We had non of these issues with Utmost.

Our house was built in 1895, and we needed some bricks replaced and some mortar repaired. Utmost Renovations did an excellent job--we can't even see where the repairs were done. They also took steps to ensure no additional water damage to our masonry. And they did all this in 2-1/2 days for a very fair price. Wouldn't think of calling anyone else for masonry work.

Mark and his team are so wonderful! His son Gabe has done all the brick work on my home. I purchased an 1860 all brick home about 3 years ago. They are honest, fair and extremely professional! I asked Gabe to help with some heavy lifting around my yard. He did so with a smile on his face! Gabe even hung a window box for me and screwed it into the home. Purchased the proper nails himself and never asked for a refund. Truly a family oriented team and I am so happy this company is my company for my home!

This is second time we have hired Utmost Renovations to repair damage to our stucco and trim. They taped the drip edge (which was causing the water damage), sealed the window frame, replaced the damaged wood, installed and painted new stucco. They painted the stucco and trim, and put a bead of caulk to seal the edge. They also replaced and painted some damaged trim and stucco in other areas. The team was very professional and the cost of the job was reasonable given the scope of the work. Highly recommend!

We feel very confident recommending Utmost Renovations for masonry needs. Our project included the addition of a brick sitting wall and brick retaining wall. Mark was very helpful in the design process – providing recommendations that improved the result of the project. We did receive multiple quotes and felt Mark’s offer was fair and felt most assured that his work would be professional. Communication was very good. Mark, Bruce (Supt.) and their professional crew did a great job repairing and painting the exterior stucco and painting all of the metal trim and some of the gutters and downspouts on our large church facility. Mark was willing to work with us on his cost in order to accommodate our budget and he was very fair with the price for work we added during the course of the project. Challenged by an inordinate amount of rain in April and May, Bruce and his crew continued to work consistently whenever possible to complete the project in a favorable time. We are very pleased with the final results and highly recommend Utmost Renovations for any similar work.

We bought a brick home a few months ago that needed masonry work done. We spoke with our new neighbors who recommended Utmost. They told us they had two other mason companies do work incorrectly on their house, but said the third company was the charm as they found Utmost, who got it done right. We built our own house in Worthington OH and we spent a long time searching for the right company to install our limestone veneer. It was hard to find a company that was willing to install this product and could do it well. I would recommend Utmost to anyone that is looking to have masonry/stonework done on a historic home. We hired them to replace stone sills under two windows, and to also to do some tuck pointing and brick cleaning. They understand how to work with historic homes and know what materials are appropriate to use. Working with them was great and the crew was very professional and guided us through the process every step of the way. Before replacing the stones, we were shown samples of different materials and discussed exact measurements and placement. For the mortar work, we were shown mortar samples so that we could select the one that most closely resembled what was already on our house. I very much appreciated this level of communication because it eliminates unwanted surprises. I am very happy with how our house turned out, and I can’t even tell which bricks are original and which bricks were repaired!

As the Building and Grounds Trustee for the Mary E Babcock Library in Johnstown, OH, I can't come up with enough positive adjectives to adequately tell you how pleased we are with the job that Utmost Renovations did on the Tower portion of our building. Utmost Renovation’s attention to detail, their masonry expertise and customer satisfaction were exemplary.

The library building got a much needed refurbishing to the exterior of the Tower, and what a difference it makes! Van and Matt even took time to climb up inside the tower to help us ascertain if there might be any recent inside leaks and if so, where the leaks were coming from. They efficiently and with great skill did the spot-tuck-pointing on the tower bricks and capstones. In addition, they expertly caulked all the needed places including around and in the stucco circle on the front of the tower. To finish the job, they power washed and sealed the stones and bricks. Because of their skill and attention to detail, the Mary E. Babcock Library has been refurbished to once again be the jewel that it was originally intended to be.

In addition, Van and Matt had to contend with very busy foot traffic that interfered with their cordoned off work area since many elderly people were taking advantage of free AARP tax preparation at the library. Not only were Van and Matt patient but they went out of their way with kindness.

However, here is the amazing thing Van and Matt did without being asked. When they finished restoring the exterior of the building, the Icing on the Cake was that they decided to power wash and seal (because they had left over sealer)

1. our large, front Babcock stone street sign that had black stains,
2. the darkened Mary E Babcock lettering on the building,
3. the black and mud-stained white foundation stones along the front & service entrances, and
4. the “named” brick circle at our entrance that was badly stained by de-icing salt

What a thoughtful and much appreciated gesture on their part! Now the building is truly all spit and polished for everyone to enjoy!

My wife and I used Utmost Renovations to fix some deteriorating brick front porch and stone foundation in an old German Village home that we recently bought. The project hit some snags as chimney work is apt to do, but they were incredibly helpful and understanding as we figured out our best course of action. I don't normally write reviews and yet in this case I am compelled to do so. Utmost completed repairs on our residential chimney which stands 3 stories (2 flews). We needed a new cap, bricks repaired, and waterproofing. Mark provided us with an estimate that was reasonable, clear and concise and was able to schedule the work within a couple of weeks. His crew was efficient, professional, and careful with our property (needed a lift to get to it). If I could give 6 stars, I would because we had such a great experience with Utmost Renovations. We had Utmost repair 2 chimneys on our 1906 farmhouse. From our first contact to when the project started (ahead of schedule, no less), Mark was prompt, responsive, and informative. The guys that came out to do the work were on time, professional, and very polite and friendly. Our chimneys look the same--only better!--which is exactly what I wanted. I wanted to keep the original bricks and maintain the historical look, which Utmost made possible. I would definitely work with them again for any future masonry projects.

Upmost did great work at a reasonable price. Our home has a lot of masonry and we definitely plan on using them again!

Our older home (circa 1900) had a stone chimney that was falling apart. Upmost did a complete rebuild from the roof line up.

We had another local masonry company do some work the last summer. Our experience with Upmost was so much more professional. A lot more communication and the work was completed quickly and to our expectations.

Utmost Renovations did some residential chimney repair at my home after shoddy work by other companies had not remedied the issue. Mark (owner) was easy to work with and very responsive. The repairs took place over the course of three days and I could tell the crew did a thorough job (contrasting with other companies whose time on site was lacking given the cost of repairs). Utmost also left a clean job site after all was said and done, which I really appreciate. I would hire again and recommend to others.

First-rate experience from start to finish with work on our chimneys. The owner, Mark, was very responsive, providing by far the lowest of three estimates for repairing two chimneys, and clearly demonstrating expertise with older masonry. Access was challenging and required a big boom lift. The crew were excellent: communicative, skilled and very efficient. Utmost adapted to a last-minute request by me to tear down one of the chimneys instead of repointing it, which they did within the original quote despite requiring more people on site for a while. They did an excellent job repairing, and re-shingling the roof deck where the chimney had been.

We had a chimney leak that plagued us for several months. Easy to spot the damage being done, but extremely difficult to determine the source to eventually correct.
Several calls to numerous contractors brought plenty of 'guesses' and suggestions and even a few attempts to find and correct, with no success. We got everything from 'I think we got it' to 'get a new roof' (which is only 10 years old).
Utmost was the first, and only, company that actually took all the steps required (scaffolding, water testing, entering the attic, etc.) to effectively find and fix the problem.
Everyone at Utmost was courteous, timely, responsive, knowledgeable, careful, etc. Above all they were determined that they could, and would, fix the issue. After a few delays to wait out some freezing winter weather, they truly did. We have had several extremely windy and wet events since Utmost completed their work. At this point there are no signs of any continued issues.
I would HIGHLY recommend Utmost to anyone faced with such issues, wether simple or more complicated as ours was.

Utmost Renovations did a fantastic job on the repair of two chimneys. Both chimneys required extensive work including flashing repair, brick repair, mortar repair and sealing to the house. Not only did they ensure the chimneys were structurally sound and water-tight, but they ensured that all the motor repair color matched the house so it looks great as well. Additionally, Mark's team was able to promptly do our work, finished timely and when we found some extra cracks once a chimney cover was removed his team came back within a few days to repaid the cracks for no additional charge.

We hired Utmost consulting to repair the chimneys and the stone face of our house. The technicians did a very good job and we are happy with the results. The technicians and the owner Mark were responsive and answered all our questions throughout the process.

Utmost did stucco repair, chimney repair, and painting on our older house in 2019. Mark had clear communication and was very responsive to our questions. The work was done well and the price was fair. In the last month, we noted new stucco cracks from ongoing settlement. Mark came to look, and even though the job was small, outside warranty, and presumably unrelated to prior work, he agreed to repair. His crewman had the repair done within the same week and in the end Mark didn't charge. I really appreciate his commitment to help us with this.

I Hired these guys to rebuild a chimney that was crumbling on my roof. I was able to send photos of the chimney to obtain an estimate. I spoke to Mark directly. Mark and his team completed a project in 2018 (patio repair and traffic coating) and in 2021 (brick chimney rebuild). Both projects completed very professionally and at a fair price.

the job got done but some of the guys who did my chimney let all the concrete fall into my gutter and subsequently clogged my gutter i needed to get cleaned out. Mark offered to pay for the cleaning and was a very stand up guy. Good experience all around.

Utmost did an awesome job for us. We had a roof leak caused by a faulty patch job on our stucco by previous owners, Bruce and his crew worked with our roofing company to get the job done right. They blended everything back in perfectly with the rest of the house. They also cleaned, painted and sealed the rest of the house, and repaired some trim boards that were rotted. Mark, the owner of the company, was great to work with and very responsive, which is great these days when so many contractors don't return calls. His crew also cleaned and sealed our chimney. I hired someone else before Mark, that did not complete the work and took the downpayment and was hesitant in hiring someone else. Mark did a great job in matching the brick to my second chimney. Mark and his crew are very professional and return calls promptly. The work that was done looked amazing. His company put my faith back into hiring someone to get the job done.

I had a rather difficult time finding a stucco repair contractor I trusted to do a good job and for a fair price on a higher end home. Mark from Utmost Renovations was very responsive with the initial quote and all questions during the completion of the project. Chuck and Troy did an excellent job tuckpointing our nearly 100 yr old home. Chuck was able to match the color of the original mortar almost perfectly and the areas that were repaired blend right in beautifully! Great and professional group to work with. I had an issue with the brick corners of my garage lintel and decided to take care of it before it got worse. I contacted several masons and Utmost was the first contractor to get back to me. Mark was very honest about the amount of work he saw and his minimum job requirement. I hired him on honesty alone. We scheduled his crew (his sons and another mason) to come by. They communicated well, showed up when they said they would, and worked with me on the final solution to my recurring issue. Their work is solid. I give them high marks and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to someone looking for a mason. They are probably not the least costly, but are likely the highest value. I don't expect to have them back out for that issue again.

The Utmost team did everything right from start to finish. We were experiencing water issues with our chimney. After several hard rains the issue appears to be resolved. They communicated well throughout the process. And lastly, the left our hose on the front porch in better shape than they found it. It's a small thing but definitely counts for something.

Mark was quick to give me a quote on work to be done which included tearing down my chimney to the roof line, building it back up and then putting stucco on the new section which was rebuilt. The crew did a great job matching the stucco pattern of the surrounding stucco so it doesn't look like it's new. Very happy with job done.

Mark and and his Team did a wonderful Job . Bruce and Seth were very professional and completed the project in time. While searching for a good Company to get the work done , it was a challenge and almost contacted 10-15 contractors/company(big and small). The estimate Mark provided was very competitive and ended up going with Mark. One of my Builder friend knew Mark before so that added some confidence.

I couldn't have been more happier after the project finished. Bruce also helped getting few small things done. Many other company had suggested to wait for spring for the work to be done. Can't believe it's already done.

I wish they could have given warranty of more than 1 year, but Hope I don't have to ask for it .

Utmost Renovations did a wonderful job repairing my brick chimney. It was the only company that I found that would actually replace the brick, instead of simply using stucco/mortar. The chimney looks great, the workers (Chuck and Troy) were true craftsmen, and they did exactly what I wanted. The price was extremely reasonable. I heard about Utmost’s professionalism from a business associate. I called these guys to clean up after the sloppy masonry done by Rockford Homes on my new build. Now I’m left wishing they built my house instead of Rockford! A big fella by the name of Van showed his knowledge and expertise. He talked me through the whole process and explained where the issue was, and how he would fix it. In addition, he went above and beyond by cleaning up some things that I wasn’t quoted for. If and when another problem arises in my house or any of my properties, I know who to call now!

I own a house that was built in 1828. I originally called another restoration company to provide a quote for tuckpointing my home's exterior brick and the stone foundation. "H.K. Excuses" had the reputation as the Columbus "authority" in historic masonry restoration. After they failed to start the project when promised (over a year later), I got a reference through my commercial construction contacts for Utmost Renovations/Mark Huffer.

QUOTE: Mark arrived within a couple of days to look at the project. A quote was provided within 24 hrs of his visit. His quote was in line with H.K. Excuses so I deceided to hire him.

SCHEDULING: Unlike their competition, Utmost began the project when they said they would. A completion date was provided and the completion date was achieved, despite additional work that was required due to unforeseen conditions (no footing under load bearing wall) and owner requested changes.

CHANGE ORDERS: Utmost's change order pricing was very fair. They did not try to capitalize on work post bid. The additional costs were priced to cover material and labor costs with hardly any additional profit.

QUALITY OF WORK: The color match on the mortar was spot on. The workers made multiple samples until the mortar matched the existing mortar. The 190 year old brick looks new. Joints were cleanly tooled, resulting in a very nice finished product.

RECOMMENDATION: I recommend Utmost without reservation. They do what they say they will, when they say they will do it....and at a competitive price.

We had two chimneys leaking and had, what we thought was a repair, completed from another company. This actually worsened the problem. We then had Mark Huffer with Utmost Renovations out to assess the issue. He gave us a quote which beat the competition. He was readily available by phone and actually personally returned to answer further questions. He also offered a warranty on the work, which no other company was willing to do. He was professional and cared a great deal about the quality of his work. He thankfully fixed our chimney issues. Would highly recommend Utmost Renovations!
