Charles and his guys have done several projects for us. They rebuilt our dock a couple years ago. Recently they replaced all of the outside stairs on the front and the back of our house. The stairs look great! Prices are fair and they do quality work. They also show up when they say they will. Whenever we have a project, we call Charles and Virginia Home Improvement

My son's house in Louisa suffered major damage in 2021 due to a pipeburst in its confined crawlspace leaving not only major damage from flooded crawlspace but total remediation from mold and mildew infiltration. Diagnosis for the latter by a firm certified for this treatment required another contractor to remove all interior moldings and replace floors and subfloors. We found the house was a composite the oldest part constructed before 1900 with floor joists not sawn but adzed by hand to provide a flat side for the flooring and at least two later additions according to later codes and standards. All framing deviated from standard 16" on center studs and joists. We sought in vain a contractor willing to take on the complex tasks required until we found Charles Hicks' Virginia Home Improvements in nearby Mineral. Mr. Hicks himself came promptly to the site, had no reluctance to take on the demanding tasks required, gave fair cost estimates for months of tedious reconstruction and realistic completion dates. His experienced crew shared the all the skills required. Mr. Hicks himself was regularly on our job to supervise sometimes thorny requirements as conditions developed. Once we found this firm our near despair in finding a contractor able to handle such a total reconstruction project was replaced by steady action to complete the work and confidence that the job was in best hands imaginable. Virginia Home Improvements anticipated our "punch lists" and left no items waiting for an absent crew to return to finish the last steps, as sometimes happens. The reliable, professional, experienced, and competent work on our complex job earned our highest rating and respect.

Virginia Home Improvements just completed 3 comprehensive bathroom renovations for us at our newly purchased lake house, plus some additional items that needed fixing. Charles was so easy to work with and had great suggestions for the bathroom renovations that I had not considered. The work they did was amazing and the end results were so much better than what I envisioned. While working, the team was very polite, friendly, diligent and accommodating. They showed up to work on time and when they said they would, and continually exceeded our expectations. We are so grateful they were referred to us, and we highly recommend Virginia Home Improvements for any renovations and repairs you might have!

We had them replace our whole house plumbing (quest to PEX). I’ve had to deal with tons of contractors this past two years, Virginia Home Improvements is the best out there and will be the only one I use from here on out. Kept in touch the entire time, I never had to reach out myself. Left no mess, worked quickly and did the job perfectly. Can’t say enough good things.

I met with Charles Hicks in early to mid March concerning re-decking a walkway and a boat dock. He had the proposal for me within a few days. The price was fair so we asked Charles to proceed. We did request that the work be finished by May 1st. The work was completed April 8th. Charles did everything that he said he would and was finished before our requested date. My wife and I could not be more pleased! The work is beautiful! We will definitely call on Charles again for future needs! We highly recommend Virginia Home Improvements and Charles Hicks!

We recommend this company 100 %. They repaired our roof, put in a new kitchen floor, repaired drywall, put in gutter guards and put in a new electrical plug this week. They do it all. Their work is excellent. They never left a mess and cleaned up everything. You will not be disappointed.

The guys repaired cracks in the ceiling and walls of several rooms and put down flooring. Everything looks fantastic. I have use Virginia Home Improvement for 4 1/2 years on different projects and everything they have done has turned out beautiful. I would recommend them to everyone.

I recently had Virginia Home Improvements remove an enclosed rear deck on our house and replace it with a larger sun room that is fully insulated, with a heat pump, ceiling fans, exterior lighting and interior and exterior electric outlets . In addition they installed new roof shingles and ridge vents on the rear of the house as well as adding to and improving the existing open rear deck. This is a great local business with owners Charles and Robert along with some really nice guys that know exactly what they are doing. They are extremely organized in all aspects of the job including cleaning up every day. Once the job is started they work all day everyday until it is finished. I would highly recommend Virginia Home Improvements to anyone.

We were told they do great work and met with Robert Hicks for more than 2 hours. But then waited and left voice messages for 2 months and still never got the promised estimate or even a return phone call. I don't feel this is good business practice and can't recommend them based on that.

Charles and Robert at Virginia Home improvements are the best contractors I have ever worked with. They tell me they always leave a place better than they found it. it is true. They have done several projects for me; the latest is a kitchen renovation and floor replacement. As always, their work is meticulous, skillful, and timely. As always, I appreciate their professional work ethic and attitude, assistance in planning, and cheerfulness. They and their crew are a pleasure to work with, and not only is the kitchen beautiful, they cleaned up my garage when they were done. Amazing!! I hired Virginia Home Improvements to do various jobs at my home at Lake Anna. I'm so glad I found a company that truly can do what they say "One call does it all". Before I met these guys I had to work with 5 or 6 different contractors to do different home improvements. After meeting with Charles I found out that they are knowledgeable in every area of home improvements that you need done. I will definitely use this company again and recommend them to anyone that wants a respectful company that truly does what they say they are going to do. They are my one stop shop for my home improvements. I'm having them come back this fall to build a deck on my lake home and also remodel my boat house.

Charles and Robert did an excellent job remodeling our bathroom. Helped with all the planning, and did quick work to minimize our inconvenience without primary bathroom. Fair price and professional, will be calling again for future projects!

Virginia home improvements did deck repairs, dock repairs, power washing, staining of our deck, removal of ceiling fan. All work was done extremely well. I was impressed with the quality of the workmanship. I will definitely hire them again for a big or a small job. Thank you so much!

I got Virginia Home Improvements to do my painting in my house and I am so happy with there work. They did a excellent job on my paint job that they will do my exterior paint soon. They showed up on time, very respectful of my home, cleaned up very nicely. I would recommend them to everyone. I am so happy with the job they done for me.

I am very impressed with the work and the outstanding service from Virginia Home Improvements in Mineral, Virginia. I had two jobs done by them, on time and under budget, with terrific results. They handled a complicated water repair job and another job involving drywall and electrical work. On the first job, they handled plumbing, drywall, flooring, ceramic tile, wood trim replacement, and prep for painting. They did awesome work and were honest, polite, and very friendly. They are always on time and are a real pleasure to work with. I am having them back soon to do another room and a major renovation in the spring. This was not a simple project. We wanted to raise the roof on a loft area over our living room, replace siding, and replace roofing on several areas. Virginia Home Improvements knocked it out in only 3 weeks! Any questionable code issues were cleared with the building inspector, in advance. Every inspection was PASS on the first try, the way it should be. There were a few extras we added along the way. Each was handled well and very reasonably priced if additional work was required. Words fail to express our appreciation of the unique custom railings. Several things, such as rotten studs in one wall, and existing work that was not square were simply "handled" along the way. We continued to occupy the living room and kitchen areas below the loft, with no dust or debris from the major construction overlooking those areas. The crew also removed construction debris every day, and kept the work area and yard completely clean at all times. We are happy to give Virginia Home Improvements our highest recommendation.

After interviewing with multiple contractors, I chose Virginia Home Improvements to build my deck due to their prompt attention to my phone calls, emails and face to face appointments, their professionalism, knowledge, and advise and help with my project.
I can assure you that my decision hiring them was not regretted. Mr. Charles Hicks and his crew were on time each day, very mannerly, and professional. I have used Virginia Home Improvements for two large jobs over the past several years, and have been extremely pleased with the final product. In terms of fit and finish, value for the dollar, and quality of the products used, all are superb. Charles and Robert are extremely conscientious and trustworthy, and are very concerned about customer satisfaction and the quality of the final product. They work very hard at keeping you posted on the progress, and any other issues that may arise during the work. When I have work to do on our home in Mineral, our first call is always to these guys. I trust them implicitly, and they've not let me down. I'd use them again in a heartbeat!
