We’ve hired TMJ for three different projects—roofing, vinyl siding, and a deck—and they’ve done an excellent job every time. They always take the time to explain everything clearly and show us all the options and samples so we can make good decisions. The siding turned out great with clean lines and solid work, a big improvement over the last company we used. The deck is super sturdy and built exactly how we wanted—it really impressed me with the quality and attention to detail. They also helped us handle a warranty claim for faulty roofing materials, taking care of most of the paperwork and making the whole process easier. Communication has always been great, especially with Jason, and after three solid experiences, we wouldn’t hesitate to hire them again.

We had a basement window that needed replaced within 10 days of calling TMJ. Justin came out to give an estimate the next day. Steve came out a couple days later to get us on the schedule. The next week, Jose installed the window within a few hours! He did great work!

Justin was very thorough with his review and assessment of our needs. He was very knowledgeable about the products and presented us with options that fit our requirements and budget. Scheduling the roof replacement was quick. The crew showed up exactly when scheduled and were very efficient. Couldn't be happier with our experience.

TMJ was wonderful to work with. We had a complicated job that included replacing all the roof insulation and sheeting before shingling due to previous bat infestation. The crew was amazing. All very hard workers who did an excellent job. We also had new gutters and gutter guard installed. Also a great crew and excellent work. We are very pleased with the results and would highly recommend working with TMJ. The prices were very competitive too.

A tornado hit our house last summer. Justin abbott with tmj came to house to look at the damage. Justin was extremely knowledgeable and made us feel comfortable. We were so impressed, we signed a contract for windows, siding and roof replacement as soon as bid was given to us. We can't thank Justin enough for his expertise and kindness.

The process of getting the repairs done was so quick and easy. Very trustworthy when it comes to price and quality of work. I called about a few things and Tyler didn't want to charge me for work that didn't need to be done. Was able to put that money to other repairs. My wife and I were very pleased with the work that was done. There was a single guy that came by and did all the work himself. Very good attention to detail it looked really good at the end. He was kind enough to remove and replace all the rotting wood under the siding and caulked a bit extra just to make sure it wouldn't continue to happen. Very friendly and even cleaned up everything! I wish all contractors were as courteous him, it was the best service we could have asked for! The price was very reasonable I would highly recommend this company! I really appreciate the hard work they do and will use them in the future!

TMJ responded quickly when I needed a small repair on my roof. I also had another question about venting they were very helpful investigating and answering for me. The cost was appropriate and they cleaned up after themselves. I will be using them again!

TMJ installed new skylights, Pella sliding door, and composite deck at my home. Also retrimmed all exterior windows. First class and timely work!

Call 2 times to the office in Grimes about a 7 buildings property in West Desmoines with siding damage after heavy winds, and a blizzard and nothing the same person take the information twice from my office manager and a Maintenance supervisor and still waiting, I call around 6 weeks ago, I know 2 of the owners from a former job I had in Ames 5 yrs. Ago. So sad.

The TMJ Crew was in and out in a day. Arrived 7:15am all done at 5:30pm. They did a great job putting things back in place and cleaning up.

Due to an ultimatum from my homeowners insurance, I had a short time line to replace the surface of a deck constructed on the top of my garage. TMJ Construction services was recommended to me. I contacted them and Mike Hansen responded almost immediately. I explained my situation and the insurance requirements and necessary paperwork and the short timeline. Although they were extremely busy with new projects in the spring, as Iowa's construction season is somewhat short because of winter weather, Mike quickly gave me an estimate of work required, cost and a beginning date in late April. In addition, he provided the necessary paperwork demanded by the insurance company. Because Mike arranged with JRM construction to do the actual demolition and construction, the project actually began on April 2 and was completed on April 4. The work was done in excellent fashion, quickly and cleanly with no disruption to my normal routine. I heartily recommend both TMJ Construction Services and JRM Construction and will certainly go to them for any work needed in the future.

TMJ put a roof and gutters on my new timber frame barn, and they did a very nice, professional job. They were very punctual and responsive to my questions. The price for these jobs was very reasonable and I am very satisfied with the end result. I would highly recommend TMJ. Thanks.

These folks are the real deal. We moved into our new (to us) home this fall, and upon the first heavy rain, experienced significant leaking from the roof through our bathroom ceiling fan. Luckily, it was right over the tub! We knew the roof had been replaced very recently (almost everyone in Ames . . . hail . . . ugghhh). Went through realtors to former owner and found that TMJ did the work. I called them to inquire what we might be able to do, and asked if the flashing in place. TMJ came out, got on the roof, took photos, and brought down a wasp nest (in a ziploc bag). THAT was the culprit, holding open the fan exhaust. We were still moving in, and he quietly departed. And we were never billed. What a consummate business ethic! We will be reaching out to TMJ for any future work here in our new dream home. THANK YOU!

Wow, where do I start, this company has been such an amazing help to a townhouse Association in Ames. From help from the hail storm two years ago to help today with a few details. But what amazing group of people, Jason, Curt, Travis Are so amazing to work with. After being in customer service for 50 years, this company is over the top with customer service. I know this is just a review but people seriously take a look at this company for your next construction needs. They do it all.

TMJ has done two jobs for me, both dealing with downspouts from a roof with no overhang because the house is positioned well for passive solar heating. In both cases the downspouts were not capable of dispensing the rain and caused water to come into the house. TMJ were creative and important in getting the problems solved. I will recommend them for any kind of work.

I recently had TMJ repair some siding on my home, and I am beyond impressed with their work. The team was prompt and displayed an incredible work ethic, taking the time to ensure every detail was perfect. I would stay away. Scheduled for hail replacement and it took 1 year before they did it. Had to have them come out multiple time to fix mistakes and have given up trying after complaining 3 times. Over billed me for a few things and won't work with your insurance to figure it out. Check every detail they send you and don't assume they read the insurance adjusters quote that you send them.

TMJ replaced my roof and window wraps. They did a great job and were very professional throughout the entire process.

They got the roof done in one day, and worked with my schedule. The workers cleaned the mess, and there were no nails anywhere!! The billing was straightforward and they worked with my insurance to make sure it would allbe covered, even what the insurance adjuster forgot to include. The right price, the right people. I cannot recommend them enough!

The crew tore all my old shingles off and had all the new ones put down in 1 day! Excellent service from Mike who gave me an estimate and the crew who replaced my shingles. Can't forget the office gal who answered the phone, she was very pleasant. I highly recommend getting an estimate from TMJ!!!

I had some windows replaced and they did a great job. All the workers were very friendly and careful with my property.

We have had many excellent experiences with TMJ Construction within the last year. Our first experience began with a leak from our roof into our kitchen last fall. I was contacted by Travis Johnson, a small projects manager, and Travis was highly professional when he came to our home. Travis correctly analyzed the problem, and within a week a crew came out and temporarily covered the problem area. When Travis was at our home, I requested a bid to install a new roof and covered gutters. During the winter months, we had no further problems with the roof leak, and in the spring we had a new roof, soffits, and covered gutters installed. The TMJ crews did excellent work, and they were courteous and always happy to answer our questions. I would highly recommend TMJ Construction.

We have had great success using TMJ Construction Services at our home. From large jobs such as replacing windows and roofing and doing new downspouts and gutters to smaller jobs installing a handrail on our stairway, we have found their work to be first-class. The workers are talented at their jobs, are polite and friendly, and clean up their work site. If there is a flaw in the materials, they work to correct it. I am happy to recommend their work to others and to use them again at our home.

Cordial estimator came out to my place and walked around and gave some suggestions and a quote. Clearly knew the area and what he was doing. Gave some great advice as well. I usually ask a lot of questions to get a feel for what the contractors know and how friendly they are....seemed to be well informed and helpful.

I am very happy with the work TMJ did to reinforce a roof structure over my front steps. One of the supports had come loose and the roof was sagging to one side. TMJ took a look at it and said they would get back to me with a solution. They responded quickly with a smart solution which solved the problem at a very reasonable price. I would not hesitate to contact them again for future projects.

This company has a quick response time. Very professional. The only one I call after years of owning my home. I have used them for roofing, roof repairs after storms, and gutters including gutter toppers.

A hail storm caused severe damage to my house. TMJ replaced the shingles, siding, gutters, downspouts, and several windows. The crews were professional, courteous, and performed as you would hope. The entire staff at TMJ was helpful and knowledgeable.

TMJ did a lovely job installing new gutters around our home. They did an excellent job matching colors and fixing some of our water flow issues. The group came back a year later, after we installed an egress window to change the gutter set-up along the North side of our home. They were reasonable with the initial installation and reasonable with the small gutter project on the North side of our home. We recommend TMJ construction.

They are 100% reliable and do a fantastic job . They are on time and schedule and customer friendly.

We had been having trouble with water coming between the roof and the gutter. But when TMJ put plywood on our roof along with new shingles, all of the water is going through the gutters like it should. That resolved all of our water problems. They also built a deck on the west side of our house. They made some good recommendations and the deck looks beautiful.

Whether it be an issue to address for my own personal property or a clients property, TMJ has always been quick to respond, courteous, easy to work with, and fairly priced!

I first worked with TMJ after the 2020 derecho and had a great experience so after sustaining hail damage in August 2022 I contacted them again. Despite working with the same contractor, he rarely answered calls or texts and in June 2024 my house was still covered in hole and the siding was literally falling off. I fired them, hired someone else, and no longer recommend TMJ to anyone.

Well pleased with the quality of work and how well everything was cleaned up after the job was finished. TMJ was quick to respond to our needs.

One of the best contractors in Ames. The fit our small project into their busy schedule. Their carpenter did excellent finish work. Jaime and Travis were great to work with. Quality work is hard to come by these days, so I was very happy with their work.

I can’t speak to their workmanship, but I’ve never dealt with a more frustrating and difficult situation trying to get TMJ to do their job.
Two different project managers had to came out to look at a window replacement/ repair jobs; the first estimate wasn’t what we discussed. I waited four weeks after the second one came out, and received nothing. After I reached him and was told I’d get it by day’s end (“or call me back to remind me”) and then left four messages, I received an estimate that didn’t even include half of what was needed to be done.
This was a huge waste of my time. I should have known to move on after the first wrong bid, but I was told they did good work. There was never an apology or return phone call during my attempt to contact this particular manager. This lack of service and dismissive behavior speaks volumes about a company.
