TKO Home Maintenance

Working with TKO was exceptionally stressful, and a total nightmare. What we encountered goes beyond the unfortunate typical hardships you hear of when dealing with contractors. We braced ourselves for issues due to talent shortages and general contractor “stuff” and what we experienced was unfortunately disgrace in professionalism from onset to completion.

Joe Jr. was the lead on our garage repair project. He was grossly incompetent.

From day one when his crew broke glass by driving their Bobcat into our garage and left it in our driveway— we had concerns around the quality of their work. They left the job site a hazard zone each day and treated our property like trash— trampled on our gutters, broke our fence, left trash all over. Our neighbors were even appalled.

Workers would show up and work a couple of hours every few days despite us being told we would see progress or we were on track to completion. When we wanted to meet with Joe and scheduled time to do so— he did not arrive or answer our call. He tried to brick a bowed wall—- until my husband literally ran outside to stop the project. Joe wanted “status” payments before completing the work. Permits were not pulled and the project cost inflated by 50% of the original quote.

It goes on but I hope I shared enough for anyone considering this company to make an informed decision.

Joseph Murray quoted us for two rooms subfloor’s. He said it was a two day job and now after a month and a half he has not finished the job, was going to put down osb board down on rotted joists.

He refuses to refund our money or finish the work. One room he put the subfloor down and didn’t cut out any vents, not to mention the floor is not right when you walk on it.

In the bathroom he dropped boards down in joists that are sagging and rotted, I can not imagine they would hold our bathtub full of water.

Joseph Murray was also very rude to my partner who he considered a mother in law for several years. He won’t refund our money while he talks about how much he has and insulted us for having a house we can’t finish on 8 mile rd. We were held up over a month because of TKO and Joseph Murray. We now have a real contractor with character and work ethic.

My experience with TKO was nothing but a pleasure. We had our family home porch redone, and were nervous about it. Ted sold the job easily and they started right when they said and came every day until it was done. The mason’s Matt and Brandon showed up early, worked their a**es off in tear down and layed and poured the porch like artwork. The whole block engaged them and helped when it started to rain. They for sure got a couple jobs on the block. It’s been a long time since we’ve had a big job done with such care and professionalism, from beginning to end.

Stay away from them. Long story short they leave me high and dry I am out of 1400 and crack porch. Civil suit on the way. They have no experience whatsoever about masonry work. If you give them Cheque they will cash it from liquor store. They open and llc and scam people.

The cement crew is excellent a very good excellent clean up to if you need cement work I would recommend them in a minute good prices

Joe Murray is a kind hearted generous man who to my knowledge has never left a customer or employee hanging. would recommend his company sincerely

We had an issue with a roof leak, we called TKO and they sent someone out the same the day to take a look and assess the cause & they came out the next day to fix it as promised! Great service, highly recommend.

From start to finish these fellas were professional and knowledgeable. Joe jr. and Ted helped Us to plan out exactly what we wanted. They gave us an excellent price and completed our brick porch and patio within a couple of weeks! I was also very pleased with the way they cleaned up after they were done. Highly recommend them!

I live in Harrison Twp. I hired the T.K.O crew to completely redo my front brick/concrete porch and my wooden deck in the back yard..all I really can say is perfectly amazing work was left for me to enjoy with my friends and family!
Joe jr was very punctual and professional! He did a great job communicating when I had questions! Everyone with him was very respectful and did great work as well!

TKO did a roof repair, flashing, and replaced the siding on our house- were very happy with the job. Ryan, Scott, and the crew were prompt, knowledgeable, and efficient. After having multiple bad experiences with other contractors, we’re thrilled to know we can count on TKO for all of our future needs!

I hired TKO to replace my home and garage roof as well as a few other maintenance items and have to say they were a pleasure to work with. Ryan was very responsive, and willing to work with my hectic schedule. At every step of the way the customer service was phenomenal and the quality of work was clear. All the guys were fantastic and really cared about the work they were doing. I felt the price was incredibly fair and I had shopped around a little prior to get an idea of the price for the work. Ryan walked me through everything that was done, took before an after pictures or work on chimney and roof - because I obviously can't go up to inspect it. Very professional and took care to get the work done quickly and at a time when rain would not be an issue. Once the work was completed, all was cleaned up like they never came through. They even went over the driveway with a magnet to ensure no nails were left behind to puncture a tire. I would highly recommend them and will definitely be contacting them for future projects.

If i could give 10 stars I would! My water valve to my fridge burst today and I called TKO in a panic! From the first point of contact I was met with friendly and fast service and they didn’t drop the ball there! After Joe and his partner came out to make the repair they had the water turned off and my valve replaced within a half hour and that included going to purchase the part they needed! I am so grateful for their speedy response and professionalism! The cost was affordable and reasonable as well, will definitely use them again and again!! Thank you TKO!

We had TKO out to do some concrete work around our home and to add a patio to the back of our house. They did the concrete work with no problem. We removed the plants that we wanted to keep and left the others. We were told that they would take care of the plants that were not wanted. They were polite and cooperative, even if they tried to shorten some of the concrete work we wanted done. We thought they were doing us a favor when they put the dirt from the job around the fence in our backyard. (Our backyard is a large back yard, almost 1/2 acre) Well this spring we had several surprises spring up around the fence, the flowers that they had dug up. They took the dirt and all and put it around the fence. Now we have additional work of digging out flowers where we did not want them. After paying good amount of money for the work, extremely dissatisfied with the clean up that was not done.

I had to wait over a month past the date I was told for them to start. Then, the quality of the work that was done is extremely poor. The trim that was replaced outdoors was painted with the stickers still on the wood!! Of course the sticker has now lifted off revealing a bare spot. And, they took all of my paint and didn’t leave any to touch up with. The flashing replaced at my chimney was not done correctly, looks horrible from the outside and leaks worse than it did prior to them replacing it. In addition to the poor quality of the work, the lack of communication made things even more frustrating. Having TKO Home Maintenance do work on my home was a complete waste of my time and money.

My husband and I hired TKO to do work to the exterior of our home. As we neared the end of the project, we paid the full agreed upon price, with the understanding that they would be back the following business day to tie up some loose ends. This included repairing a window screen that they tore, replacing a custom column base cap that they broke, replacing address numbers that they broke and repairing an exterior faucet that they damaged. It is going on a month and TKO refuses to finish the job. Initially they gave us a time and day that they would return. After multiple no-shows, we reached out to the owner, who told us someone would be there by the end of the week. No one showed up. When we reached back out to the owner, he told us it wasn't his problem and that we needed to connect with the workers directly. The workers will not answer our calls/texts- so we are now left to assume that TKO has no plans of finishing the work/replacing what they have damaged. This un-professionalism is incredibly disappointing especially because we would have loved to use TKO for future projects and have had several friends and neighbors ask about the work we've had done. If you plan on using TKO do not pay in full until everything is done to your satisfaction.

I was very pleased with TKO. All of the employees I dealt with were very polite and well informed. The work was completed as expected and done in a professional manner. I would certainly use this company again and would recommend them to any person looking for maintenance projects around their home. I had several areas of water-damaged drywall repaired, paver patio and sidewalk cleaned, and a deck repaired and painted. In addition my leaking skylights were repaired. I was pleased with all the work.

I had a complete tear off of roof and fascial boards I told Joe I had squirrels coming in. After the job was completed I had finger smudges on the front of the house on the trim. I repeatedly call for a clean up. It took weeks before someone showed up just to look at it and never came back. After the completion of the roof the very next day I heard a squirrel in The wall all of his was in Aug 2017. Now today July 2018 I still have not had any of my issues rectified. I had a squirrel in my bathroom I'm so disappointed with this company. They took my money with no problem. I'm going to report them to the BBB

Had roof damage from a wind storm. Was told multiple thing such as I needed a new roof from various companies. TKO came out and fixed the damage for much less than I expected to pay.

They also took a great amount of time to ensure the work was completed properly, I was quite impressed with this.

A very fair price for their work, so much in fact that I have them coming back to do additional work, (not roof) to the house.

TKO went above and beyond the "small" job (other companies wouldn't touch) of replacing some aluminum trim at the apex of our two-story house by shoring up other loose trim. Fast and friendly, and the price was right. Thanks, TKO!

TKO rebuilt the entire front porch of my home. The did a fantastic job and they are very professional. I would highly recommend them to anyone who needs work done on their home.

TKO did an amazing job on my back porch. Their masonry department made my backyard look like it did when I moved in 15 years ago. The owners and workers were a pleasure to work with, and their price was fair. Thank you, TKO.

TKO did a wonderful job on our makeover, we updated the kitchen with new counter tops,
and they look better than when we first moved in. Very nice workers from the haul away guys to the finish carpenter. The paint crew did a great job on our 2 story hallway, which looked impossible. They had scaffold and ladders and expertly covered the slate floor. They even did 2 colors, for a good price.
Most important, they had great expertise when we took out the tub in the Master Bath and put in a shower with tiled walls and floors. Our home looks like a magazine now & we thank TKO for the fabulous results.
This year we tackle the outside of the house, Roof & paint, We will certainly be calling TKO.

TKO does not follow through on jobs. They will start multiple jobs and never finish! In June of 2013, I had TKO take down a bunch of trees, replace grass with new sod, reset pavers and steps, paint my front porch and extend one side of a fence. They only cut the trees down, they did not stump them as we had agreed upon. They painted the porch and it began peeling immediately. I had to call multiple times to get them to come out and fix it, but they never did. It finally got to the point where I told them to just drop the paint off at my house so I could do it myself. Needless to say, its been over a year and I have still yet to receive that paint can...and the porch looks terrible! On to the fence....they reattached the gate to the newly cemented post, even though it is supposed to completely dry before re-attaching. So of course, a year later, the fence post is loose and, to my surprise, they actually came out no problem to re-cement the post. Unfortunately, its been 12 days since and the gate is still just sitting there leaning against my house, with a pile of dirt in my driveway. I call Joe (the owner) on a daily basis to ask when he is going to come put the gate back on and his response is "you're on the list for today". Its been almost weeks and still nothing. Joe is a terrible business owner who does not care about customer happiness or getting paid, apparently because we never paid the last installment because the job was never finished. He and TKO is absolutely the worst and I would never, ever recommend them to anyone!
