Tin Roof Maui

We tried several different items and all were great! We took our food to go and went directly back to our condo (about 12 min away). Everything was still crispy and delicious! Mochiko chicken, beet box, pork belly, chop steak, fish sando, garlic noodles- all got good reviews, even from pickier eaters. We ordered online ahead, the order was ready on time in 15 minutes. We are back home and I'm wishing I could get that mochiko chicken around here! (We also got a couple of dime bags to take home). 100% recommend!

Food is very flavorful and portions are generous at a great price. Very tasty, highly recommend. I ordered online and 15 minutes later the order was ready to be picked up. Very smooth operation. Bought his cookbook and look forward to making some of his meals at home. Can you please open one of these on the windward side of O'ahu, where I live? Māhalo

Every time we come to Maui, Tin Roof is a must! Was able to snag this for lunch before our flight. The mochiko chicken is my go-to. The spicy chicken sandwich was great. Recommend doing sauces on the side. The poke bowl was also really good. Enough food for two hungry people! Well worth it

After years of bypassing this place because of the long lines, we decided to suck it up this year and wait. The line actually moves pretty fast. You get to the front door and that's where you order. There's no dine in. The food was ready in 15 minutes, and it was well packed and accurate. The chicken was so delicious and there was so much food. The pork belly was both meaty and fatty, but not too much fat. The garlic noodles were very tasty. They have a few picnic seats available in front but it was too hot. So we just ate in our SUV with the AC on in the parking lot. Go hungry and enjoy!

Awesome and authentic Hawaiian food! Definitely recommend coming here right after hopping off the plane since it’s right near the airport.

The Mochiko chicken and garlic noodles were so good I made a second stop to get more while on vacation.

Stopped at Tin Roof Maui before our flight back to the mainland to grab food for the plane. The mochiko chicken and dry mein (with a side of broth) were both delicious! Skip the mac salad - way too much mayo. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a solid local spot near the airport. Takeout only.

We really, really wanted to love this because we have watched Chef Sheldon on Top chef and he was so genuine and amazing. Our experience however was not great. We did order closer to closing, which may have impacted the experience, but the food quality was sub par. First, they forgot two of our add ones, egg and spam in one dish. Next, we had four dishes and 1 desert, with only one of the dishes being really great (Mochiko Chicken - Highly recommended!). The spicy chicken sandwich was good enough, but the bun seemed stale and the chicken was a little on the chewy side without any real juiciness. The chopped steak had really good flavor, but had quite a lot of fat on most of the pieces that had to be cut out. The Poke bowl was good, but didn't really stand out in any way from any other poke spot. The desert, Chocolate Birthday Babingka was actually fantastic with great textures and great flavor.

Hopefully, this was a one off experience because the reviews here are generally off the charts and he seems like such an incredible person. When we return to Maui next year we will try again and hope for the best.

SUPER busy takeout spot. We ordered spicy ahi poke and chicken plate - poke was good, wife didn't like the chicken plate much. Feels and looks like a tourist spot honestly.

Pro tip - order online and head straight to pick up after getting the 'order is ready' text. Skip the long line of people waiting to order food.

Tinroof Maui is so convenient near the airport. And the Staff is so friendly we ordered our food and it was ready within 15-20 mins. I Love the outdoor seating watching wild chickens come up to you. Such a Great Experience I highly recommend eating here next time you in Maui. I promise you won’t be disappointed!

Not sure what changed but I didn't think the chop steak was as good as I remembered. Kinda too salty this time. Would like to see some new menu iteams. You guys do get the orders out pretty fast, ill give you that.

The food was amazing! there was a long line when we got there and when we got our food because it seems that everyone agrees. We ordered the ahi poke bowl, macaroni, and garlic shrimp. All of which were very authentically Hawaiian and very flavorful. Would absolutely come back and recommend anyone to stop here on their way into or out of Maui

We were here on an airport transfer and wanted to get some food before we bought the flight, and we got it delivered before our flight The food was great. The chicken was really good. It’s always very hard to find a vegetarian option, and the Ramen and garlic noodle was amazing.

Had such high hopes for this place but ended up quite disappointed. The pork belly was very dry, flavor was just ok. The mochiko chicken was also dry and overcooked, honestly the best part of the dish was the cabbage. The dry mein was over salty and just very meh. Do yourself a favor and just eat at the many delicious food trucks nearby in the Costco lot. Much better food, ambiance and more places to sit and eat without being attacked by the parking lot chickens like at tin roof.

Everytime we land at OGG we stop here for a quick bite. We always get the mochiko chicken and pork belly kau kau tins - maybe a side of garlic noodles. I've always had to wait a while to get my food and portions aren't huge but its always good.

Came for the saimen and it was alright, broth and ingredients come separate so noodles will be cold and hard unless you wanna wait for them to warm up. Portions are ridiculous, one saimen is enough for three people do not order one for each person. Another person I was with ordered the spicy ahi poke bowl and the presentation was really lacking for the price (20$). The outdoor seating is the only seating available and the tables and chairs are really flimsy, but cute I guess. I wouldn't come back here, but the eggs were cooked to perfection and I love eggs so 3 stars.

Had to try Sheldon from top chef Tin roof. Had the Mochiko Chicken, Mac salad and Chow fun noodles. We also had the shrimp. Everything was fantastic

Great place. This is mostly takeout though there is small table outside. They have suggestions for nearby parks where you can take the food.

Deeply Offensive and Unacceptable Behavior – I Will Not Be Returning

I was genuinely looking forward to trying the garlic shrimp and poke bowls at this restaurant after reading some promising reviews online. Unfortunately, what should have been an enjoyable dinner turned into a deeply upsetting and offensive experience — made even worse by the fact that it occurred on Juneteenth, a day meant to honor Black freedom and resilience.

I visited on Thursday, June 19, 2025 (Juneteenth) around 7 PM. When I arrived, the place smelled amazing, and I heard the kitchen staff chatting while preparing food—which seemed normal at first. However, shortly after placing my order, I clearly overheard the kitchen staff using the N-word multiple times in casual conversation.

Disturbed and upset, I went to the front counter to express how inappropriate and offensive that language was. I was told it would be addressed. But only minutes later, I heard laughter from the kitchen followed by someone loudly mocking the situation, saying something along the lines of: “A customer got offended because we were being racist and said [N-word],” with more laughter from the staff.

This wasn’t just unprofessional—it was deeply disrespectful and tone-deaf, especially on a day that holds such importance to the Black community.

As the wife and mother of Black family members, I was and remain profoundly offended by what I witnessed.

I immediately requested a refund and asked to speak with the manager, who was likely part of the conversation. He offered no apology, no accountability, and no indication that he intended to address the behavior. Adding to my concern, a staff member bagging takeout orders remarked that this type of language and conduct happens “every day” and is never corrected.

The restaurant’s open layout makes it easy for customers to hear everything happening in the kitchen. If this is the culture among your team, then management either condones it—or is willfully ignorant.

After doing some research, I discovered the owner is a well-known celebrity chef. I find it hard to believe he would be okay with this type of behavior representing his name and brand.

This was my first and absolutely last time dining here. Racism and hate speech should have no place anywhere—especially not in a business that serves the public, and certainly not on Juneteenth.

Order at window/door and two small outdoor tables for people. Food was delicious and fairly quick as there was a small line of people ahead of us. They text you when your order is ready. Opted for Michoko Chicken + Garlic Noodles and the Chicken Sandwich. Both were delicious! Definitely should be in the list for lunch but plan to eat in car or somewhere else and there is not a dining room big enough for the crowd they draw.

Food was very good, easy to order ahead online and it was done very quickly. Limited outdoor seating, but easy to eat in the car or take elsewhere.

This is a must go to place!! Food is take-out only. They have a list of recommended places to bring your food —- beach and parks nearby. Or they have a few tables outside. An amazing gallery/store is Nextdoor to walk around while waiting for your food. The chicken was AMAZING. Fried but one of my best meals on Maui.

Food was so tasty. Service was pretty fast considering how busy they were. Highly recommend trying it. We will definitely be going back.

It's okay but the wait for lunch is super long - even late lunch! The bowls were large but the chicken and pork were average. A bit too oily from the frying for my taste. Not many tables to eat at so most folks took it to go or even ate in the car.

Small to go spot with outdoor seating, no indoor seating. We ordered online, and it was quick. We ordered the garlic shrimp and the spicy chicken sandwich animal style (animal style adds pork belly and a 6 minute egg). It was a huge sandwich. I couldn't even hold it right because it was so big. It's definitely worth the wait, and the prices are affordable.

Best fried chicken sandwich I've had in any city, state, or country. Plan to be back asap and can't get enough of that mochiko chicken.

Food: I was really impressed by their flavors! The garlic shrimp was cooked perfectly and tasted amazing, as well as the poke being so fresh and tasty. However, their rice was just okay.

Service: You order at the cashier and wait for them to call you once your order is ready. Friendly staff.

Atmosphere: There’s only like 3 tables to sit outside, which is on the smaller side. When we got there, all of them were occupied so we had to wait a bit. Otherwise, we would have to eat in your car or go somewhere else. There were also lots of birds around which wasn’t ideal while eating. Also, keep in mind that this seating area is in the parking lot.

Food is superb and there is always a line but don't leave. The line moves and you wont be disappointed.

Good food and fairly quick service.
Not meant to be fast food.
If you want food that is fast and expensive go to McDonald's.
You can eat in front of the take out only but beware of roaming chickens.

Don't be a stupid head and feed the birds anywhere in Hawaii.

1. Birds get accustomed to being around humans that feed them and aren't scared to raid your food and
2. Don't complain when they come back for more and bring their bird brain friends to feast.

Amazing food, we had the Fish sandwich, the garlic prawns, and the Mochiko chicken with garlic noodles. All so delicious. There are a few tables in front, but we took ours away. We saw the reviews saying to order it as soon as you get to the rental car pick up at the airport and it was perfect timing.

Had the signature item, Mochiko Chicken here and it was ok. It was basically fried chicken thigh. Crispy skin and tender meat. It had sauce on top but not enough. It came with salted cabbage on a bed of rice. I also ordered the kimchee and the mac salad and these were ok too. It's a walk up window with hardly any seating. So most people took their food to go or stood in the parking lot and ate.

What a disappointment. A total tourist trap.
We had high expectations for this place based on all the hype, but it completely fell flat. The poke was incredibly underwhelming and lacked flavor entirely. While the tuna was tender, that’s about the only positive. Mixing it with the curry fish of the day didn’t help either. The curry fish tasted like it had been sitting out for hours and then reheated. The rice was dry, tough, and bland.

We waited over 30 minutes for our food, and after all that, we were left majorly disappointed. For the price and the praise this place gets, it was absolutely not worth it. We’ve been way more impressed by the food trucks on the island. Better flavor, faster service, and a much better overall experience. Save your time and money. There are much better options.

Had dinner here on our last day on Maui. Should have ate here every day! Food was amazing. And I'm tough to impress. Go here, eat here even if it's out of your way. One chef to another, you guys do it right!

The fish on the fish sando was so dry. To the point I could not eat it. However, the bun and tartar sauce on the sandwich were both yummy. Maybe I just ordered wrong but bummer I threw away $14 of food. However, the garlic shrimp and garlic noodles were both great. The shrimp were large and juicy. Be prepared with a mint afterwards. The garlic is present. Tip — order online as you drive there vs waiting in line to place your order.

A friend recommended we try Tin Roof during our stay in Maui. It was a super hot, sunny day! We had a light breakfast and I was looking forward to dropping by to indulge. We made it about 11:05am and there a few people placing orders. I placed my order and waited. Suddenly, there was a huge crowd! I had no idea I could’ve placed an order in advance!

Food was tasty and filling! You can tell that the staff is hardworking and has a rhythm. It would be nice to have tables and umbrellas to enjoy the food there! By the time we made it to the beach and sat down, food was getting cold.

THIS FISH SANDO!!! I devoured it in record time, while sitting in my rental car (with no tinted windows), parked directly in front of the shop as 2 dozen people waited for their orders, were waiting to order or were eating their orders in the blazing hot sun! I'm sure I had tartar sauce on my face at one point or another but I DID NOT care! This was SO good! Trust me, eat it as soon as you get it!
