Roofing issues:
The roofing crew showed complete disregard for our property. They left tools and equipment scattered throughout our neighbor’s yard and trampled through our landscaping, despite me kindly asking them to be careful. They placed ladders and materials directly on top of our plants, damaging two rose bushes and a hydrangea – one rose bush is now leaning with visible root exposure.
Gutter installation nightmare:
After the roof was installed, we waited weeks just to get an appointment for gutter installation. I had to call multiple times before anyone scheduled us. Once the appointment was set, the gutter lead (a father-son team) called to say they’d be late because he had court for a speeding ticket. They finally arrived at 3:30 PM and spent more time smoking and eating than working, then left after two hours – again leaving all their equipment in our neighbor’s yard.
The next morning, no one showed by 10 AM. When I called, I was told the delay was due to the father needing to bail his son (our installer) out of jail. That’s when I looked into their background and discovered both had felony records, and were actively on probation – something the company never disclosed.
This behavior continued: multiple no-shows, no communication unless I repeatedly followed up, and equipment and gutters left in our yard over a holiday weekend – killing our grass and continuing to affect our neighbors.
Office staff and management:
Dealing with the company’s office was just as frustrating. Yolanda, the account executive, was rude, dismissive, and extremely unprofessional. We submitted pictures of the damaged landscaping and called multiple times. After two months of back-and-forth, she finally claimed a landscaper had assessed the damage and found “nothing wrong” – yet could not provide any date or proof of the visit. We checked our cameras and found no record of anyone coming.
Yolanda spoke to the owners and came back to us with a $125 discount for the damaged landscaping. When we asked for a modest $250 discount (despite our landscaper pricing the damage at $400), we were told that asking again might result in them withdrawing even the $125 offer they initially made. The owner’s justification? “You can’t predict how a plant will grow or thrive, so there’s no way to determine if it was actually damaged.”
Bottom line:
This company was disorganized, uncommunicative, and careless – both in how they treated our home and how they handled our concerns. The crews were unprofessional, and the management showed no real accountability or interest in making things right. I would absolutely never recommend Thoroughbred Roofs to anyone.
A big windstorm tore off part of our roof, and I thought we’d be waiting weeks. They squeezed us in, showed up on time, and got it done right.
Had damage from the recent storms and hail earlier this month, It was a big deal for me to get this fixed, and they treated it like it mattered. That meant a lot.
