What a great experience insulating our existing attic!! Josh came out and gave us a quote within days and the crew was there 2 days later to complete the work. When we had our HVAC system replaced, one of the things the technician looked at was the attic insulation. We're so glad he did because we found that we needed to fix several issues that had little to no insulation which caused the house to be uncomfortable.

We got three quotes, and even though our advisor Will was the last appointment to come out, the decision ended up being super easy. He was efficient but still took the time to do a full inspection, explain everything clearly, and got us a quote within a day. The price was middle-of-the-road—not the cheapest—but he walked us through the Dominion rebate process and explained that they’d handle all the paperwork for us. What stood out was that he focused on what actually mattered: our needs and comfort, without trying to upsell or cut corners.

We hired Will and his team to do an audit of our insulation for two of our attics. We had reached out to 3 companies and it was night and day when we met with Will. He was so thorough, communicative, knowledgeable, and genuine that it was a no brainer to hire him and his team for this project.

The two crews that did the work were able to complete the work within a day for us. They built us a new catwalk to make it easy to navigate the attic and they made sure to show us the insulation in the attics when everything was completed.

We hired Southland/Fifth Fuel to install insulation for our attic recently and I’m happy to say they did a wonderful job! Will Trenum responded to our inquiry quickly and was able to come to our house within a couple of days. He answered all our questions thoroughly, gave us options and even encouraged us to shop around. He was very responsive over our email exchanges and I never felt pressured. In the end their quote was fair and reasonable and the crew did the whole job in less than 8 hours, to include taking out our old batte insulation, air seal our attic and install new blown in fiberglass. I’m glad we decided to hire them. We couldn’t be happier with the work they did and will absolutely hire them again!

These guys are awesome! I’ve used them a lot, and I recommend them to all of my friends and family.

They installed insulation and radiant barrier in my old house about 4 years ago and they just did my new house in Bristow a few hours ago in insulation and radiant barrier, in Feb 2025.

Their workers sent me pictures of the sealing and the insulation install so I could see it all done perfectly (I requested this in writing to them of course), Josh is really smart and he knows his stuff.

Their pricing is great, knowledge is great, work is great, they showed up on time and rocked and got it done.

My new home’s already much more habitable, the temperature differential is evened out and my HVAC unit seems to be much less strained than it was before the insulation. They sealed around all my air gaps and my new recessed lights so the air quality will be great.

Great work. They did everything we agreed on and exceeded expectations. I have a basement in the process of being insulated and hey also added sound proofing to the ceiling hitting every nook and cranny. They arrived on time and cleaned up like they were never even there.

The crews came out on Monday as promised and did an excellent job! They were very courteous and professional and took excellent care of my house and furnishings. And I forgot to add the my wife, who’s pretty picky, was quite impressed by the Fifth Fuel’s crews. Do yourself a favor and get an estimate from Fifth Fuel’s if you need insulation and air sealing.

If you are anything like me you are currently scouring the web looking at reviews for possible insulation companies. I looked far and wide, called, and made appointments. Josh was the only one who seemed to look at my project with care. He spotted things in my project I had not even thought of and gave me a quote within an hour. It was fair so I booked them and they were here by that Friday. These guys did an amazing job. They went over and beyond with the detail and care. I will only ever be using this company for my insulation projects.

They did my garage which was a little over 400 square feet of two inch closed cell foam.

The fifth fuel came out to my mother’s house to give them an estimate. A previous pest control company said all of my mother’s insulation needed to be removed and replaced due to a bad mice infestation. Logan took pictures of multiple areas in the attic and sat down to show my mother. The attic was not in bad shape at all and looked clean overall. We did not need their services, but I do appreciate their honest evaluation.

The professionalism, integrity and knowledge of Will Trenum, sales rep, and the quality and workmanship of their installers are exemplary. AND, I qualified for a rebate from my energy company for a portion of the installation.

I chose them after reaching out to 3 of the top insulation providers endorsed by “Best in Fairfax.” Will’s inspection and quote was laser focused and spot on. He was prepared & clearly very experienced. He arrived on time, brought his own ladder to climb into my attic, spent quite some time thoroughly checking out my attic, assessed needs and identified potential issues. Will provided a prompt proposal clearly outlining the work with the ‘optional’ items itemized separately.

The installation team of 3 arrived on time, and ensured they were meeting my expectations. They outlined their plan for the insulation installation. Every surface was covered, safety ensured, and they made sure my little old lovebird, Cheerio, was not in danger in any way. They worked efficiently, as a strong team, and vacuumed up the entire corridor of their path upstairs and down after completing their work.

I’m happy to report that my upstairs bedroom is several degrees warmer (per my room heater with ambient temp readout) with the furnace set at the same temp downstairs. Much more comfy!!

I had a great experience having Fifth Fuel insulate an addition and the attic in my home. Josh was very professional, responsive, and helpful. I thought they had reasonable prices for the quality of work provided. I had spray foam, batting, and blown foam installed.

The only challenge was the day they booked the work, the installation team said that the truck for the spray foam was having an issue. They had to come back another day to do that work, but they were communicative and helpful to address the issue and reschedule.

Overall I would recommend Fifth Fuel and am happy that my home is better insulated. I've already felt the comfort benefits over this cold winter and look forward to the same in the summer.

It was such a pleasure working with Fifth Fuel to replace our attic insulation. They were recommended to us by a neighbor and they responded to my request for estimate immediately and were able to come next day, did a thorough but quick assessment and explained everything they would do in detail (which really helped me to compare to the one other quote I was able to get), and I had an estimate that same day. This was a relief after getting no response to requests for estimates from a few other companies! They were able to start within a week (with all their own employees and materials), worked quickly and were very tidy and polite. They also made sure to fix the couple of ceiling lights that got disconnected during the work before they left. Would absolutely recommend them and would work with them again!

I had a very good experience with 5th Fuel. It started good with my evaluation visit for attic and garage insulation. My salesperson spoke well at a technical level on what needed to happen and avoided the salesy approach that turns me off. I had another visit from another company that did all the typical annoying sales pitches. 5th fuel was maybe half the price. So be careful on insulation as I feel there is a try to get as much as you can approach from other companies. The actual workers were great too. Job was done in 1 day and all looks good. Cleaned up nice. Place feels a little warmer, time will tell how useful the new insulation is. They blew in fiberglass in attic and cellulose in garage ceiling.

Really happy with the work that was provided by 5th Fuel. We had multiple companies come out for estimates, which varied from hour long sales pitches and quick in and out estimates that barely looked into the attic.

Will (sales) was great to work with, he went over options with me about insulation/air sealing. He took his time to inspect both attics in our house and also showed pictures of the areas his team would focus on. He was also great with working with us on scheduling as some delays on our end came up.

The team that came out to do the insulation + air sealing was great too. They spotted a disconnected PVC pipe in our attic and halted their work to give us time to get it fixed. They were back quickly after to finish the work.

Company came out and gave free estimate for service requested. They started work the next day and finished most on the second day with only an expert touch-up of a ceiling required the next day. Price was competitive. Did very good job of putting dams up along all our existing catwalks. Sealing job covered everything needing it. Insulation above minimum for R-49 promised. Blower door test showed 40% improvement in stopping leaks from house. Overall, very positive experience and looking forward to energy savings and warmer winters.

The team did a fantastic job, from Will coming out and giving me an honest quote of the items needing to be addressed to the Project Manager and his two workers removing/installing insulation in multiple areas. Some of the areas were tight quarters but they handled it all with great care. And they cleaned up all areas before, during, and after too, much to my satisfaction. They went above and beyond to ensure all areas were well sealed up and done to my liking!

Great experience with The Fifth Fuel. I reached out to them because I had wanted to get insulation blown into my attic. I had one estimate from another company that seemed much too high and I wasn't looking to completely redo my attic. I just needed some insulation and some other minor things addressed. Will arrived on time, spent a reasonable amount of time looking at my attic, and came up with a plan I felt good about. His estimate was reasonable so I decided to go with it. Scheduling was easy and the team that showed up to do the work was great. They were on time, very professional, and kept me updated throughout the process. I had fifth fuel insulate my attic with spray foam and the install was excellent! Even in 90+ days in dc the temps in the attic and on the 2nd floor are very close to the 1st floor. The installers took the care required to ensure nothing was damaged in the house, made sure it was left in immaculate condition. Even if spray foam isn’t required I strongly recommend you get your insulation from fifth fuel, you will not be disappointed!

The energy consultant Will Trenum, the crew lead Remi and his team, and the supervisor Luis were all excellent to work with and great communicators (in person, via text, and email). Aside from price and communication, a deciding factor for me was that they file for rebates with Dominion Energy, reducing my expense significantly. The crew arrived on time and was very professional, respectful, clean, and efficient. After job completion I noticed one little area that needed some improvement and the supervisor contacted me and came out the next day to fix it. Great customer service! These guys did top quality work. The crews were professional, clean, accurate and punctual. I spent most of the days in the attic with them spraying (I was in a full-face respirator) and despite the hot, cramped conditions, they made sure every detail was right. Logan the sales rep was thorough and accurate. Checked in frequently through out the process. They made one error by removing a bit too much insulation in a section that was being left alone and they fixed it by reinsulating with new material instead of trying to hide it or cut corners. I would highly recommend these guys, 10/10.

We had basically no insulation, and leaks all around our attic. We knew when we bought the house that’d this work would need doing. Fast forward a year or so, and we’ve done our research - The Fifth Fuel came out as the clear, best option. Will came out to look at the situation, identify the areas for improvement, and answer all questions. He went above and beyond to help ensure we looked at everything that’d need addressing. They got rid of the dirty pink insulation and replaced it with beautiful, sleek, shiny insulation. They were incredibly thorough, kind, professional, fast, and punctual.

One of their folks even came out to patch a few places. They just wanted to do the job right. They are also incredibly clean. They vacuumed my entire laundry area and it was pristine. Just super responsive, reasonable, and thorough.

If you need insulation installed, this is the place! We had an issue with pests/rodents in our attic, and these guys came and cleaned it all out, sanitized, sealed, and insulated the entire thing. During the process, we discovered that we also had an issue with a sagging ceiling (part of having an old house), and they were very accommodating with putting the project on hold while we had to wait to get it fixed. Our home inspector was here one day when the crew was sealing everything, and he came down in disbelief about what a great job they were doing with ceiling every little crack. The crew was kind, respectful and did a tremendous job with cleanup. Our house was lined in plastic, which resulted in no mess at the end of the day. 10/10.

After I moved into my townhouse and realized there was virtually zero insulation in my attic, they scoped it out, gave me a timely quote and were cost competitive. On the day of removal/installation, they were on time and were in and out in about 4.5 hours. I highly recommend!
