During the rainy season I reached out via a contracting site for skylights and luckily landed on Tenhulzen Painting and Construction.
Scott and I went through a virtual walkthrough of the damage to my skylight, I hit a rough estimate with guidelines, and he sent out a kind teammate to take a deeper inspection between the roof, and attic space. All was great.
Shortly thereafter, the team showed and performed the work, and two days later I had a new skylight, drywall, mud and paint job to match.
That was good, right? What impressed me the most is what I don’t have time to expand upon. That was their step by step photo documentation and communication through out every transition through the job. There were NO SURPRISES. As a result, Scott and his team are at the top of my shortlist for future work, like my kitchen and wood floor refurbishing.

I’m a big fan of this kind of service, especially when you’re not the one seeing the work being performed transition by transition. Great job gents. They have a very kind crew too.

I engaged Tenhulzen Painting & Construction to both paint my house and perform various repairs around and on the house. Some of these were related to concrete and others carpentry. Most of these were not straightforward and required expertise to approach and execute. The 'team' brought a variety of core competencies to bear and a level of dedication to the tasks that exceeded expectation. Luis G., the foreman, was concerned that I know his standards for quality were the same as he'd want for his house. After a few check-ins and follow ups, I learned that I could trust his word. By the end of the project, I could simply ask Luis if he was happy? The master carpenter, Brock P. was knowledgeable and always appropriately engaged me with regard to the scope of work and his approach to a problem. He was straightforward about both, changes brought by unexpected discoveries and work that didn't need to be done. The quality of his work was superb. The crew was responsive, respectful and friendly. They all worked hard to achieve results. Scott T., the lead, was responsive to my concerns for the schedule and the need to begin and finish the project before it started raining in Seattle. He brought the crew to bear quickly. He checked-in mid project and was attentive to the punch list (even though the invoice was paid). I'd recommend Tenhulzen to anyone who is interested in a holistic approach (in other words, the job requires a multidisciplinary team) and requires a quality result, Last but not least, Scott was a good partner around adding an aesthetic / design solution that I wouldn't have thought of. As Brock executed the completion with solicited input, this design became the cherry-on-top that brought a smile to my face; since visitors remark on it most of the time!

A fallen tree damaged our attic and caused additional significant structural issues. Based on excellent Google reviews, I contacted Tenhulzen, and I'm so glad I did. Their expertise and professionalism turned a stressful situation into a positive experience.

Throughout the repair and rebuild process, Tenhulzen acted as the central hub, coordinating with a whole team of subcontractors. Roofers, HVAC technicians, gutter specialists – they ensured everyone worked together smoothly and on time.

I had to go through insurance for the repair and rebuild, and Tenhulzen's help was invaluable here as well. They helped with the paperwork and communications, providing a detailed list of all the work that was done to the satisfaction of my claims adjustor.

Whenever I had a question or concern, the team at Tenhulzen was incredibly responsive and always happy to explain things in detail. Their experience shone through – they had a clear plan for the project and addressed any unexpected issues (for example, the leak in my main bathroom which was only discovered later in the project) calmly and confidently. I am more than pleased with the interior painting and care Louis and his team took with painting several rooms in my home including 2 bathrooms, kitchen and others. The team was respectful of my home and the job was beautifully completed. When the job was completed, except for the beautiful paint job, you wouldn't know I had had any work done. All prep work was cleaned up, the leftover paint cans carefully labeled and stowed in my garage. I have had many painting and construction companies but never one this reliable with perfect workmanship. Oh - and when they said they would be at my house at 8:00 A.M., they all were not only on time, but early and ready to work! I highly recommend Tenhulzen for interior work - and I have hired them to paint the outside of my home once the weather cooperates so I am sure you will be hearing from me again. I give them a 10 plus on a scale of 1 to 10!!!

This is the second time we’ve used this company and they’re awesome. They painted our kitchen including all the cabinets and they recently painted the interior of the house including all the millwork and doors. It turned out perfect. Always on time and their work is excellent. Highly recommend!

We contracted with Tehhulzen to refinish our kitchen cabinets. I would rate them highly for a number of reasons: they responded to our initial inquiry in a timely fashion, they lived up to what they indicated they would do, everyone on the team that did the work made an effort to maintain good truthful communications, the team was concerned that the quality of their work was good. We worked with Matt Kahler, Roland Stout, Aldolpho Larios, Finian Mitchell, and Joey ? all of whom worked well together and with us. If you are looking for a firm that deal with you in a straightforward fashion and listen to your concerns for your project and respond to them, then you will enjoy working with Tenhulzen. I did and I would do so again.

Tenhulzen converted our garage into living space. They were amazing to work with and had great communication. They also went the extra mile to work with my budget which really meant a lot to me! I would absolutely hire them again.

We were looking for a contractor during the Spring of 2021, and we reached out to Tenhulzen. I was instantly impressed by the prompt response from them, and they were able to get in to do the job faster than other contractors I had reached out to.

Eric was our site manager and did a lot of the work. He was fantastic! Always arrived when he said he would, and he kept us in the loop every step of the way. Overall, I was so impressed with the Tenhulzen business model. Communication was easy, and they used an app that kept us informed and logged all of the work that happened every day.

We have been so happy with the quality of the work of our kitchen remodel, and we would definitely utilize Tenhulzen again.

We contacted Tenhulzen Painting and Construction based on a recommendation from our roofer. On the initial visit Scott showed a good understanding of what we wanted and gave great feedback on our projects. The project manager Richard contacted us about 2 months after we signed to get us scheduled. Once the work started, Richard sent daily email updates with pictures on the work progress. Very pleased with Richard and his crew.
Halfway through the job we did have a slight disagreement on the scope of work that was to be done. Scott reached out to clarify their view of what the scope of work was and I responded to clarify my understanding of the scope of work and then asked a number of follow up questions. The next day, Richard sent me an email answering all my questions about the job in progress and provided excellent clarification. Scott then reached out shortly thereafter and agreed to expand the scope of work, but did also take the time to explain why this particular aspect is normally quoted separately.
I was very impressed that Scott added to the scope of work above what he had estimated in order to make sure the customer was satisfied. Certainly one of the better experiences I have had with a contractor. The job was completed on time and I was highly satisfied with the end results.
Tenhulzen is probably not the lowest bid you will get. We did receive lower bids for the job but decided to go with Tenhulzen based on the roofer’s recommendation and our impression of Scott during the initial walkthrough. And we are very glad we did. This is a case where you get what you pay for. They are definitely on my short list for the painting scope of the work as well because I believe that they have an attention to detail that is lacking with contractors that may come in with a lower price.
All in all, very impressed with Scott and his team.

We contacted Tenhulzen in the beginning of December 2020. We called, gave our information and what we were interested in and Riley followed up with us very quickly for an appointment for him to come to our home for a walk through and estimate. Riley came out on December 12th. He was very friendly, wore a mask for the entire visit and was incredibly knowledgeable and helped us a great deal by listening to what we were considering and offered suggestions based on his expertise. The walk through was so great and we were really excited to book with Tenhulzen for our painting and remodel based on this visit. Unfortunately, we would never get to actually book Tenhulzen.

Upon leaving, Riley let us know that they should have a full estimate ready for us by midweek to the end of the following week (our walk through was on a Saturday). He did let us know that while he would have his portion of the estimate ready as soon as possible, that the construction side of the estimate might take a little longer because they had several projects they were trying to finish before the holidays and it would be the owner Scott who would be doing that part of the estimate. We said we absolutely understood. He recommended checking back in if we haven’t heard in a week or so.

By December 21st, we hadn’t heard anything so we sent a follow up email asking if they had an idea of when the estimate might be ready. At this point we had estimates from a few other companies but really wanted to work with Tenhulzen. We received a response from the owner Scott the same day that read: “We are working on your quote and expect to have something to send over to you soon. I anticipate, based on how it is shaking out so far, that we are probably going to be around the $50-$70K mark. Trying to wrap it up prior to the holiday for you, however there is a lot we are pushing on to get projects wrapped up for people for their Christmas holiday so please bear with us.”

We were pretty surprised by this estimate as Riley had given us his best “guestimate” during our walk through and it was nowhere near $50-70k. Even so, we had told Riley about some dreams we had for our home in the future including a bar in the basement so we figured some of those projects might have been included on the estimate. We were really looking forward to getting the breakdown and details so we could get started as soon as possible.

Unfortunately, that was it. We never heard from them again! We are so incredibly disappointed because the walk through with Riley was so positive and we really wanted Tenhulzen to do the work on our home. Apparently we weren’t worth their time as it is now March 2021 and December 21, 2020 was the last time we ever heard from them. The lack of follow up is so incredibly unprofessional and frustrating. We did not expect this from such a highly rated company.

Riley and his crew did a great job on our interior painting. They matched the colors perfectly, and the baseboards look better than the day we moved in!

I recently had the Tenhulzen team paint the interior of my house. They were extremely professional. I would almost describe them as artisans. The workers were very skilled and did a perfect job! I highly recommend them!

Needing siding, I asked a carpenter friend for recommendations. Tenhulzen was at the top of his list. So they re-sided our old house, working through difficult window issues, then repainted house and garage. Perfect.
Because of their great work, a year later (this spring) we hired them to remodel our entire kitchen, nook, and rear entry hall, refloor the entire main floor, demo some old add-on stuff and install new can lighting throughout the house. And paint the whole interior.
The project lead they assigned us, Rodney, worked with us efficiently, even as we expanded the scope of work - even with about 40% more work added on the fly, they finished ahead of schedule. Rodney is a master carpenter, knowledgeable about all aspects of construction, and detail-oriented, as is the owner of the company, Scott, and all the other employees and the trade subs. Rodney worked difficult aspects of remodeling an old house, meshing old with new, with attention, skill, and patience.
This is a high quality operation.
We just finished, and we couldn't be happier. While no remodel is "fun," they worked with us, and our cats (thanks, Rodney!) to make it as stress free as possible, even while we lived in the house during the major remodel.
They were upfront about costs and worked with us to do a remodel we could afford, even as we added on more pieces. They aren't cheap, but the quality of their work is exceptional and so they are a bargain.
We will certainly use Tenhulzen for further work, and highly recommend them.

Scott and Francisco took a bad interior painting job by others, and made it look perfect. The team are very thorough and detail oriented, and also extremely fast. We were expecting work to take a lot longer and we had full use of the space much sooner than anticipated. Additionally, Scott took the time to explain what products would be used and how to best apply them. Tenhulzen's thoughtful approach is great and I highly recommend them.

I actually had a little bit of a bumpy start with Tenhulzen Painting - I had submitted a request for estimate via their website, and I never heard anything. I considered writing them off, but I'm glad I didn't - I tried calling, and everything was smooth sailing from there.

Scott Tenhulzen came by and gave me an estimate for my job (exterior painting), and though the estimate was a little higher than I expected (which could just mean my expectations were unrealistic), it was obvious that Scott really knew what he was talking about. I took a couple of days to mull it over, and I went ahead with having them do the work.

The crew showed up right on schedule, and they did an excellent job. A day or two later, I noticed a small spot that looked like either bare wood or masking tape, and Scott sent his guys to check it out. Sure enough, it was a bare spot - it was an area not originally part of the job, but the paint had apparently been worn away when they pressure washed prior to painting.

What impressed me the most was that while the guys were touching up that spot, my neighbor pointed out a spot (also not part of the original job) where a tree had rubbed away the paint on my house. Since the paint was out, I figured I'd just get up and do that myself, but Scott's guys said no, don't worry about it, we'll get that for you while we're here. It wasn't a big job, but I really appreciated that they went above and beyond like that.

I am elated to have found Tenhulzen Painting! Scott and his team are exceptionally talented at what they do. Their attention to detail is amazing and it is refreshing to have a company really take care of your home as if it were there own. I own a remodeling company and do not think twice about inviting Tenhulzen onto any one of my projects to represent Nip Tuck Remodeling.
