Based on one of their drivers nearly running multiple vehicles off the road (i-5 northbound around 7:30pm Friday December 15th) I will never hire this company for any work. They clearly allow drinking on the job or don't vet who they're handing vehicles out to. The driver was playing on their phone swerving into multiple lanes and high beaming every vehicle that past him. His speed varying +-40mph over the distance of 100'. Anyway if you have your vans chipped and know who your driver is feel free to do the right thing. Yes your driver was bad enough to warrant a Google review.

We should really have a zero or negative star option on this review platform! Bruce Hunter president of Tacoma roofing and waterproofing is the previous owner to BD roofing, under BD roofing Bruce and his “30 years experience“ manage to significantly compromise my roof and I have dealt with leaks the last 4 to 5 years. Due to his “quality work” I am forced to replace the roof only eight short years after it was originally installed. I am seeking some minor compensation to absorb the cost for the roof that should at least last 25 years. Apparently awls you have to do is close one business and open another business and that allows you to be a shady contractor and not hold yourself responsibility for poor quality. Bruce Hunter Is a dishonest sneaky snake in the grass of a human being.

**Update** After my comments Tacoma Roofing & Waterproofing contacted me and wanted to make things right. They have sent their best roofers to make the repairs and the manager has personally verified the work. I originally gave them a one star review but because they have made things right I have changed it to a three star.
Original Post
I recently bought a brand new house that had its roof installed by Tacoma Roofing & Waterproofing. To say I’m disappointed would be an understatement, since the purchase of our home (about 2 years) we have had three significant issues with their roof. The first issue happened during a mild storm, I had 2 shingles blow completely off the roof. The second issue we had was with the shingles along the roofs edge had begun to separate from the roof along the gutter.
I called Tacoma Roofing & Waterproofing to come out and fix both issues with the shingles. I found the receptionist to be very polite and I will say they did responded in a timely manner. However, when the roofer showed up I requested prior to starting any work that he provide me an assessment of the damage and an estimate of the repair. I never received a phone call so I assumed the repair was covered under warranty. Two weeks later I received a $350.00 bill in the mail for the repairs. I called the office and complained about not receiving an estimate and that they performed the repair without my consent. The manager apologized via the receptionist and waived the bill.
With that all said you could only image my frustration when we discovered last night that we have a leak in our roof and water has begun to run down my walls. I have another roofing company scheduled to come out to asses my two year old roof and make repairs as needed. I wouldn’t recommend this roofing company to anyone and wish we could give negative stars, better yet a black hole.

To hire a roofing contractor, start by researching local companies with good reviews and proper licensing. Request quotes from multiple contractors, verify their insurance and certifications, and ask for references. Always ensure you get a written contract that outlines the scope of work, timeline, and payment terms.
Check if a roofing company is legit by verifying their business license, insurance, and local certifications. Look for memberships in professional associations, read customer reviews, and ask for recent project references. A legitimate company will be transparent and provide all documentation upon request.
When choosing a roofing company, consider their experience, customer reviews, warranty offerings, and quality of materials. Make sure they provide clear communication, detailed estimates, and a solid portfolio of completed projects. Local expertise is also a major advantage for understanding regional roofing needs.
Warning signs that your roofing contractor might be ripping you off include vague contracts, pressure to pay large upfront deposits, lack of proper documentation, and unexplained price increases. Always ask for itemized estimates and written guarantees, and avoid contractors who avoid answering your questions directly.
