I hired Sure Can to do several jobs around my house. Some of them went well. But I would never hire Sure Can again. And I'm sad to say that, as I was impressed with the owner's enthusiasm for his work and I like supporting local, small businesses. Sure Can was able to replace a sagging board on my deck stairs. Sure Can was able to replace an electrical light/fan switch. Sure Can was competent at power washing my patio and driveway. A bracket was fastened correctly to the side of the house to fly my flag.
A massive disappointment and frustration came from painting work I hired Sure can to do. Our garage needed paint on the walls and ceiling, and Sure Can's owner was enthusiastic about putting an epoxy product on the floor. The walls and ceiling were painted fairly well... not much attention to detail and I had to ask him to come back to touch up some areas that were left unpainted.
The garage floor turned out to be a disaster. We left town immediately after the epoxy was applied so it had over 24 hours before anyone walked on it and a week before I parked on it. Far longer than the product suggests.
We returned to find the product flaking off in large pieces where we walked, where items were placed on it, and of course, from under the tires when parked on it. I also found bags of concrete etch from the epoxy kit, totally unused. At the store, I found the product kit that was used and checked the instructions... it was very clearly stated that the floor must be cleaned, degreased, and the concrete etch used for proper adhesion. Unfortunately, no prep was done by Sure Can. Basic directions were ignored. The floor was not cleaned in any way, other than my sweeping it. There was no chance the product was going to stick.
Initially, the owner said he would make it right, that they stand by their work. But it has been 2.5 months and the owner has not shown up to correct this mistake. I've been asking for a solid and satisfactory plan for how he will address the poorly applied product and specifically what product he plans to apply after the clean up. He's told me they are just going to paint over the epoxy, which would obviously just cause the same problem. No product, rolled over the top, will adhere.
So, bits of the epoxy have been tracked into my house all summer and will only get worse. I've asked for a refund for labor and materials because I would be foolish to have him back here at this point. Responses from the owner have been angry and unprofessional.
Stressful, disappointing and I will now need to spend more money to clean up the mess. It has been a month since we agreed a refund would be best, and still no refund has been issued. Instead, I have received long, angry audio messages about this honest review. I've submitted this review to protect others. You do not want this rip off or the hassle.
February update: It has been over 4 months since we agreed a refund would be best, and Sure can has not refunded any of my money. The owner does not respond to my messages.
