Superior Siding and Windows did a fantastic job on our roof replacement. Jim Kinning guided us in the process and made the choices simple and clear - putting this picky engineer at ease. We came to Superior because of Jim's strong reputation in the neighborhood, and the team did not disappoint. They answered all of our detailed technical questions, finished in one day, shared the direct contact information for the highly responsive foreman Hector, left us extra shingles, cleaned up nails both before and after the dumpster was promptly removed, installed proper step flashing beneath new rakeboard...you get the idea. Everything. And the roof did well immediately in the following downpours. They came in on time to meet an insurance deadline, and under budget. So Superior is on my shortlist for siding and windows too.

Earlier this spring, my husband and I were searching for the best siding company in the Des Moines area that would travel to Newton and had almost settled on a company and decided to do one final search. That final search led us to Superior Siding and Window Systems. We told them they we were ready to make our final decision on a company and they came out the next day and did an estimate and gave me a quote that very same day. My husband and I were shocked that their quote came in well under another major competitor. The initial price was enticing but it was truly Grant, the salesperson, and Jim, the owner, of Superior Siding and Window Systems that made the decision to go with Superior an obvious choice. Grant gave us a long list of houses to see that Superior had previously done so my husband and I drove to over 20 houses to see their work. Every house was masterfully done!

From the first point of contact to the very last day on the job we were 100% pleased every step of the way. Jose and Caesar, our hard-working team of two siders, were efficient and perfectionists. The care they took in siding our house, and their attention to detail was phenomenal. Each and every day they cleaned up everything. They are such kind and good people. Steve, Hector, and the other men who came to work on the windows, installing lights and gutters, etc. were top notch people as well. Our house now looks as if it is brand new! Jim, the owner of the company, made several trips out here to check on progress, communicate with us and to see if anyone needed anything. It was obvious to us that Jim truly respected his employees and valued their expertise and they, likewise, respected him. Jim is the creative mind behind the company. Jim is truly a gem of a person. We asked for his opinion on several things and he was careful to listen to our needs while, at the same time, add his own perspective. He has a great eye for design. There were many “extras” that Jim added along the way to enhance the look of our home. Most companies would have added to the bill. Jim simply did what looked best and didn’t add charges. Not only did Superior Siding and Window Systems excel at their job of residing our home, installing new lights and gutter systems, frame in and dry wall for a window replacement, paint the foundation, etc. they also excelled in customer service and being truly some of the BEST PEOPLE IN THE INDUSTRY THAT YOU’D EVER WANT TO MEET! We had a great experience with Superior and our siding and window project turned out fabulous. The crew that worked on the house were so friendly and hardworking. Our mailbox fell down from snow plows before we even started the project and Jim came over and fixed it for us without us asking. Both Jim and Grant contacted me regularly before, during and after construction to make sure we were satisfied. Jim was also helpful in picking out colors to complement our roof and doors.

Jim and crew installed windows, siding, gutters, and leaf guard for me in October of 2022. I got a good fereling forom Jim in the first few minutes. After I got his quote which was the lowest out of the 8 others I had recieved, it was an easy decision to make. His crews were here when scheduled and got the job done within a week. Jim is a wonderful, honest, giving and caring person to have to work with. He and his teams are very nice, very efficient, GREAT at their jobs and were there when they said they would be there, every time. Very very good quality of materials and communication was excellent with each and everyone of them. They made our house so beautiful, I will always recommend them and if I need something done I’m calling them. I had a wonderful summer watching all of these guys work on our house and getting to know them and they kind of feel like FAMILY….Stevie did a superb job with all the new windows and the sliding glass door. He did an amazing job, installing all new front and back doors, It wasn’t on our agreement, but Jim worked it out, where Stevie installed the doors if we went and purchased them. (Stevie even went and picked them up from the store for us!!) Amazing service that I know and feel will last a lifetime because Jim’s gonna take care of us for the rest of our lives. Stevie then installed these really good looking gutters that really tops off the house. The siding guys came in knew exactly what they were doing. They dug right in. They removed three different types of siding, replaced all the bad wood we had, put on this beautiful vinyl siding after they wrapped the house and they protected it like it was their own home!! Hector and his crew came in and removed the skylight and put a new roof on that looks amazing and matches the siding, so well. Hector and his crew were very kind and considerate while working on the roof. They work hard , pick their nails up every day and cleaned up after themselves very well. Hector is amazing. He also came and painted our foundation and made it look as good as it ever has. These guys deserve way more than five stars!!

They've always done everything you can ask of your contractor - showed up on time, completed the work as agreed, answered all questions and made recommendations as needed, performed quality workmanship and followed up to ensure the job was completed to our satisfaction.

In 2017, we chose Superior to replace all of our windows. Jim encouraged us to go ahead and get additional estimates and his price was the most competitive of all the companies. His crew did a great job and we’re extremely happy with the result.

They responded to every request and explained what needed to be done as the project proceeded. Great products and people. Superior repaced our roof and siding and now we will be having them replace all the windows in our son's home. They added enhancements that we never would have thought of. Expert installation by knowlegeable and friendly people.

We had them do siding for us about 2 years ago. The installation was decent, not great. We went with one of the higher end sidings and the quality of the material is good. The real problem has been the after installation support. Pretty much none existent. It took a couple calls to get them to finish some of the painting that needed to be done. But the gutters have been a major issue. They were not attached to the house properly. The water is coming down between the gutter and the house. I called several times and left voicemails, but never got any response. I fixed the worst of the problem myself as they were a black hole for getting back to me. Now a 2 years later the gutters are getting worse. I had them show up at my house as they were doing a job down the street and I informed them of the issue. They said they'd fix it. A month or two later, and several texts, they said it was going to cost me a few hundred to fix it. I disagreed and they agreed to fix it and they'd be here 2 weeks ago. Haven't heard a thing. I'd recommend going somewhere else if you think you might need post installation support from them. It doesn't happen. It's too bad, as I think the overall look is good and had considered having them do windows for me. I'll be looking elsewhere.

We hired Jim and his team to redo our siding, install a new exterior door, hang new gutters, and complete some additional exterior painting. At first, we chose them based on the great pricing and wonderful local work they'd done in the neighborhood previously. We are so glad we chose them because not only were they extremely reasonable with pricing and wonderful to work with on our requests, but they also did an OUTSTANDING JOB. Oscar completed all of the siding on our home himself, and did so quickly but with care. He cleaned up well after himself at the end of every day, making sure we had nothing to worry about for our dogs when they would go outside after he'd left for the day.

If we ever have to do it again or need any other work done, we will definitely go with Jim and his team! Great people, great work, and a wonderful company!

Look no further than Superior! Last August my house was hit with a hail storm and over 20 companies came knocking on my door. I did my research and I called Jim at Superior. He gave not only a free estimate but also recommendations and a “vision” on how to upgrade my house to its maximum potential. His estimate was less than the 4 other bids I had received. His crew was on time, professional and meticulous when it came to the details of their work and my satisfaction with it. They did siding, gutters, windows, installed a new door (they did that no extra charge) lighting and painting in about 1-2 weeks time. Now I have the best looking house on the block!

We had our siding and windows replaced, as well as our roof. Both crews we had were very professional, efficient, and did a fantastic job on our house.

A sash in one of our windows broke during installation, and one of our window screens tore as well. It's been over a year now in waiting for our replacement screen and sash, and we've received no updates regarding the replacements. I know supplies are limited and things take longer than usual, but it would be nice to have some form of update as we've paid for everything and just want our house complete. As of right now, our kitchen window is useless without the screen, and our dining room window isn't as efficient as it could be with a missing triple pane upper sash.

I had my windows replaced and new siding installed on my home. Although a little slow, probably due to Covid-19, I am very happy with the final results. My home looks great and I know I will save on heating and cooling costs with added insulation and new windows.

I was disappointed that I was told they would add gutter toppers at no charge, but when finished it wasn't written on the contract so didn't receive them. I have contacted Jim 6 or 8 times requesting a receipt and written info regarding the promised lifetime transferable warranty, but have not received four months after work finished and paid in full.

Make sure you get everything in writing!

Just before Christmas I had Superior Siding & Windows Systems install a new patio door for us. Steve is their door installer and there's no on better in the DSM metro than him. We didn't realize how much cold/hot air our old patio door was letting in until Steve did his magic sealing/insulating our new one. It's tight as a tick now and we can already tell a difference in our family room/kitchen temperature. The finish work Steve did was 10/10 as well. Both the interior trim and the exterior custom millwork turned out better than expected for my wife and I. Big thanks to "Git-R-Dun" Steve! In addition, thx to Jim Kinning (owner) for recommending the quality product. You will not be disappointed using Superior. They stand by their products and workmanship like few companies do in today's world.

Initially, Jim went out of his way to make sure the roof his crew was installing met our needs and standards. However, not a year later, the roof has leaked causing water damage to the interior of the home. After a little over a month of phone calls, text messages and false promises, nothing has been done by Superior to fix the leaking roof.

There are many companies with the name Superior. THIS is the one you want, locally family owned and operated. Our house turned out beautifully. Every detail was completed with professionalism and with our needs in mind. Jim and his employees were great to work with because they responded to our questions promptly and efficiently. His employees have been with the company for years and you can tell they care about their workmanship. The product did take longer to get in because of supply shortages BUT completely worth the wait. The product used on our house is excellent quality and installed expertly, and they even clean up at the end of each day. Superior went above and beyond our expectations and we will be using this company again for future home projects. We have already recommended Superior to friends and family for thier projects. I recommend this company to you if you want the best looking house on the block. If you doubt it, just ask Jim for the list of homes they have completed so you can see the difference for yourself.

It was bitter cold when they were doing the work, so I made some allowances, but I've had to call them back several times to reattach pieces of siding that fell off. They also left debris around the house. The owner has responded to all of my concerns, but I wanted a job done professionally the first time.

Called Jim around 5 and asked if they did siding repaired as the first couple google places said they couldnt get to me because of the hail over a month ago (BS). Jim showed up around 7 and gave me a quote to get the job done. Tony came out the very next day and completed the job above my expectations.

UPDATE: Superior is great to work with…until you pay them. Once they are paid, do not expect them to respond to your requests, even if the issues you’re asking for help with are their fault. They installed a front door and a railing for us, and both are having serious issues, but after 3 months of calling and texting them repeatedly and receiving promises of them coming out, the issues remain. Additionally, we asked if we could pay for a new metal wrap piece for our garage door frame (as ours got messed up through our own fault) and we haven’t been successful in that request either.

Jim and his crew did an outstanding job on our house from start to finish. Once they got onsite, they were committed to getting everything done to our satisfaction - even though it meant returning multiple times for tiny details. They went above and beyond just siding- from painting the house foundation, installing beautiful soffit lights, putting in LeafX gutters, installing our new entry door and a sliding door, and even putting in a railing on our cement porch. Of course it's going to be a messy project while it's getting done (we may have lost a hosta or two)- all exterior construction work is - but they did a great job cleaning up. Communication with Jim and our project foreman Jose throughout the process was phenomenal. We did financing through the NFC (neighbors finance corporation) and Jim took care of all the paperwork at the end of the project, which was immensely helpful. We'd recommend Superior to anyone!

We had a great experience with their work siding and roofing our home. Jose was great to work with and had great attention to detail. Jose's detail with the trimming out the windows and offering innovative ideas was everything we wanted. Great company to work with!

I had a very bad experienced with a contractors who lied. Jim the owner of Superior Siding & Windows System made me realized not all contractors are the same. He gave me an estimate on Friday and was able to come and do the siding following Monday. He was honest and reasonable in his pricing. Recommendation for anyone who want siding or windows done. Contact this company. His pricing is reasonable and he is quick with his work.

First off I would like to say that Superior Siding did a fantastic job re-siding our 32 square house in WDM. When they discovered extensive framing damage on our fireplace they gladly and quickly rebuilt the damaged sections at no extra cost! Here's a summary of what they did:

Removed the old wood fiber lap siding.
Installed a new composite siding.
Wrapped all the windows and doors with pvc or metal trim.
Installed a new patio door.
Painted all the fixtures and exterior bits and bobs.
Installed stone on the front of the garage.

We really appreciate how well this job was handled and all the while they were super friendly and helpful with the whole process!

Superior Siding was amazing from start to finish! Jim was very accommodating and made sure we were satisfied. He gave us great ideas on how to make our house look great and never pressured us to do anything we didn’t want to do. When we weren’t happy with something, Jim did everything in his power to make sure we were happy, including making a trip to the store himself to buy supplies needed for the painters to meet our needs. Jim and his team at Superior re-shingled our roof and also re-sided our house and did an amazing job. They definitely went above and beyond and exceeded our expectations, especially with the little details they do that are unique to Superior. It really makes our house stand out in the neighborhood. They were very easy to work with and answered all of our questions. The workers were very skilled at what they did and also cleaned up each day after they were done. We would highly recommend them.

I used Superior for siding, gutter, and exterior painting. They had the cheapest price but in hindsight it was not a good choice. The entire process was extremely slow. Jim was very nice to work with however he was too busy to handle all the work he took on. He was very quick to come out for me to sign the contract. Then progress slowed. Weeks went by and I was never contacted to get measurements for the windows. After the initial few weeks passed I initiated several calls asking for a date to take measurements and get a window order in. It was a month and a half after signing the contract when a guy arrived for 15 mins of work to take measurements. The manufacturing delays were no fault of Superior Siding. Jim mentioned to expect delays so that was not a surprise. When the windows were finally received they sat and the work did not start. I contacted Jim twice a week for several months. I was told the work would start on several different dates that arrived and passed. Jim was not great at communicating changes and delays. I usually had to contact him the next day to mention no one showed up and ask for his new plan. The painter was not trustworthy. After showing up the first thing he did was try to swindle me into overpriced additional work. In the end he did not complete all the work as listed in the contract and refused to come back. The tie between Jim and this painter fell through due to the integrity problems of the painter. It took more than another month for Jim's other painter to finish the work as he kept putting me off for other projects. What could have been completed in two months ended up taking a painful 6 months to see completion. Jim did make things right in the end. However even after suffering all these challenges I had to wait a long time for the resolution. The communication, avoidable delays, quality of the work, and quality of the contractors were not acceptable.

RESPONSE: I did not make a "side deal." You chose to send a contractor to my house who is at best dishonest, but in reality someone that scammed your customers. You didn't check up on the project at any point. You just subbed out all the work and walked away. The results of choosing to send him to your customers is a responsibility and liability of yourself. You took a chance on him and he let you down. Mistakes happen. When he arrived the first thing he did was upsell me on the job. He lied and said that he worked out the pricing with you. I was being lied to and you were being lied to. Internalize this criticism. You chose a terrible business partner and didn't check up on them or me to find that something was awry in time. That is your mistake and both of us had to pay for it. Accept that the root cause of this issue is loose controls and project management from Superior. Until there was a huge problem you didn't check on or oversee the work or your subs. I did not set out to breach any contract. The guy that you hired for the work lied to me that you quoted the work and he is a scammer who did not finish the work. Please work on better managing the business. Customer blaming is not a very good strategy for addressing shortcomings in business management. If you learn anything please learn that you had a role in how this came to be. I find it troubling you think this is my fault. I really wish none of the problems happened and that I could write a glowing 5 star review. That was my hope for the project. Please do not show up randomly at my house again for any reason. I do not wish to further argue with you. My front door camera recorded your visit the last time. Seasons greetings.

We are always incredibly impressed with the work done by Superior Siding. They did an amazing job re-siding our first home several years ago and we knew that they were the perfect company to re-side our new home. Kyle was great to work with, he detailed everything we wanted and kept a close eye on the progress of his team to make certain the work was done exactly right.

Spoke to Jim several times on the phone. Each time it seemed he had no idea who I was and I always had to explain myself to him again. We scheduled an appointment on a Wednesday morning for him to stop by and begin an estimate. 20 minutes after his schedule arrival time I called and he said he wasn’t going to make it because he was too busy. So, we rescheduled for the afternoon. I even let him name the time. Again, he didn’t show up so I called and left a message. He was prompt to call back and it seemed like he didn’t even remember anything about our meeting and he continued to give excuses that he wasn’t going to make it because they are too busy. Both times I had to leave work to meet him at the house. He wasted almost two hours of my time. Jim explained to me that he prefers to be the salesman for his company, which is fine. Maybe it’s time to hire someone else that cares a little more about their potential customers so Jim can focus on other things.

We could not be happier with the work from Superior. We contracted with them to replace our siding, and they out-preformed our expectations. Jim, Chip, and their crews were fantastic to work with. They are hard workers, and their attention to detail is impressive. Even with all my mind/design changes, they kept up with quality work.

Jose is a true craftsman. His hand-crafted millwork and "3-D" windows has caught the attention of everyone that walks by our house.

Also, I mentioned we were thinking about extending our deck, and Jim made that happen, while minding our budget.

I will (and have) recommend them to everyone I know.

Wow, Superior Siding and Windows is top notch! From my initial meeting with Chip, to working through the final details with Jim, they really know how to make you feel comfortable from start to finish. When it was time to do the work, Steve and Alan did an exceptional job with my painting and siding. I've had lots of compliments from my neighbors. Don't get these guys confused with Superior Exteriors who didn't even return my calls. Seems like they're more interested in running their bar in Waukee.

There is only one business to call for siding, windows, and roofing. We love Jim and his crews. We did an in depth due diligence on all our projects. Just finished our 2nd major project with Jim and his muliple crews in 6 years...home siding. Every project we took many quotes. Don't waste your time calling anyone else!

Meeting with Jim at the home show to getting the windows and gutters installed by the crew was great! They were very professional and the work was top notch. Showed up early and worked hard to make sure everything was above and beyond. Made sure they cleaned up everything inside and out, you wouldn’t even know they were here! Value was great! We got better windows at a better price than anyone else we had come out and quote us. Chip also stopped by to make sure we were still happy with everything and to let us know to give him a call if we need anything. Great customer service! I noticed my neighbors getting their roof, front deck & siding done, and they spoke highly of the work the Superior team was doing for them. I remember thinking I would love to have the siding on my home done also as my home didn’t have the curb appeal that a few of my neighbors have.

Chip showed up at our door and offered his services and we sure wanted to hear what they had to offer. We decided to get our project underway and was very excited about that. We are so impressed with the siding, gutters, lighting, stonework, all the custom trim work & making our home and garage look more modern.

We couldn’t be happier with how friendly, respectful & dedicated to making each home they complete the best looking on the block.

We were incredibly impressed with the service, work, customer service, and responsiveness of the team at Superior Siding. We replaced our siding, windows, and gutters the final result is perfect. Jim and Chip were responsive and communicated well. Jose and Carlos were punctual, friendly, and did wonderful work on our house. The team that did our windows were respectful of our space, friendly, and, again, did excellent work. We couldn't be happier with this entire process and how our home looks. Despite snow storm after snow storm, the work progressed efficiently and we felt informed about the process at all points. I highly recommend this company.

Previous owner of our home had work done by Superior Siding over ten years ago. There was some wind damage and we needed to replace a panel or two of siding. I spoke to Chip on the phone and he was extremely helpful. Looked up the original work order, determined the brand and color of siding, then called up the supplier to determine if they had it in stock (which they did, amazingly). Chip didn't have to do any of that and there was no $$ in it for him to help me, but he did it anyways. That's what I call ethical and going the extra mile. They will have my future business.

Making the decision for Superior Siding & Window Systems to do our roof, siding and gutters was the best choice we've made. Their crew was very precise, quick and professional. Jim and Chip was very helpful with all of our questions and checked on the progress frequently. Highly recommended!

I don't leave many google reviews. However I felt this one was deserved. I worked with Chip. I hired them to do my roof, leaf guard and gutter my house and shed. I have never had a person or company follow through and have the dedication to make sure I was happy with the work as these guys. We are particular and hold people we hire to high standards and these guys did not disappoint. Chip returned whenever we needed him including holiday weekends to and did not quit until we were 100% satisfied. He did a ton of extra steps other companies would never even think to offer. At a minimum you need to at least speak with these guys before you decide.

Jim and his crew were very prompt, professional and the craftsmanship and integrity of their work were tremendous. Jim went above and beyond in his care and customer support and was fun to work with!

We decided to replace the siding on our 1999 home, and heard about Superior Siding and Windows from a neighbor who had had Superior re-side their own home, and spoke very highly of them. We met with Sales Representative Jim Kinning, and were very impressed with his presentation and creative ideas. He recommended vinyl siding, along with some accents that would enhance the appearance and "curb appeal" of our home. We decided to complete the project in two parts over a two-year period for cost management, and Superior was very accommodating in this regard. Steve, their installer, handled the entire project from start to finish. We are very satisfied with the results.

In addition, we suffered damage to the fascia and door/window trim on the rear of our home, due to a hail storm this past Spring. Within a week after surveying the damage and providing a written estimate, Superior's crew (again, headed by Steve) promptly completed the repairs to our home in a day.
