I live next door to someone who used their services. At the end of every work day I've had to pick up water and soda bottles, shingles, paper, and roofing nails out of MY yard. If I ever need a roofer, I'll be sure to hire someone who doesn't trash my neighbors yards. Unbelievable.

We've been living here in Alamogordo since 2002 and built a new home near the German School in 2005. A recent hailstorm ruined our shingle roof and our insurance company (USAA) agreed to pay for a complete reroofing job. When I contacted the local contractor who originally built the house for us for his recommendation on a local roofer to do the job, he told me straight-up, "Only one guy here in town knows how to properly install a roof...Andy Padilla at Sun City Roofing". So I found Mr. Padilla, he inspected the house and promptly provided a written estimate on his business letterhead. It wasn't very detailed, but it did give USAA enough specific information to approve the work. Sun City Roofing is in high demand here in Alamogordo, so it took a few months for Mr. Padilla to work our home into his job schedule, but it was finally our turn this week. He and his crew showed up at 6am on Monday morning and immediately started the tear-down of the old roof. They surrounded the ground all the way around the house with large tarps to help contain the excess debris. The tear-down took two whole days and made an incredible mess, but at the end of each day, they spent a solid hour doing clean-up so the outside of the house could remain available for our use in the evenings. Installation of the new roof took two and a half days. There was no wasted time here...no standing around and bullshitting, no excessive work breaks, no long lunches...they arrived every day right at 6am and quit each day at 3pm and just steady worked all day long. As the owner, Mr. Padilla worked right alongside his crew, shoulder-to-shoulder, making sure everything was done right to his satisfaction. His attention to detail was much appreciated...we had experienced several roof leaks in the last 15 years, and Mr. Padilla made sure to address the areas where we previously had some problems. He made little suggestions here and there that helped us maximize the benefit from the roof replacement...spray-painting the roof vents a complimentary color of our choice at no extra cost is just one example. Little things that made a big difference. When the roof was completely finished, then the crew did a 360-degree sweep around the entire property and removed all the junk that didn't belong there. Their lifter truck left a bunch of oil stains on our driveway, and they even used concrete degreaser and scrubbers to remove the petroleum stains. Again, attention to detail. Mr. Padilla doesn't talk much...he's a busy guy and doesn't like to be distracted from his work...and that is mostly okay, but I do wish he had spent a little time each day explaining to me exactly how the job was progressing and the sequence of events I could expect as they did it. Our home means a lot to us, so we've been worried about getting it repaired, and a little more communication would've helped reduce our stress a bit. This is a minor people skills thing, and I'm probably an oddity here in Alamogordo, but I thought I should mention it. Total cost for the new 4900sf roof was $15,984 and it was worth every penny. I hope never to need another roof, but if I do, I'm hiring Sun City Roofing for it!
