We shopped around EXTENSIVELY for a pergola kit. StructureWorks offered the most modern options--without all those fussy layers. Also tons of customization possibilities. A special shout out to our rep, Henry Barnes, who was endlessly patient as we worked to fit the pergola into a larger project. Absolutely delighted with the results!

We recently remodeled the exterior of our home. As part of the remodel, we added a 52’ front porch that consisted of a 17’ covered porch over the front entrance and attached 17’ pergolas at both ends. We had a wonderful experience working with the Trex products and the Structureworks design team on the custom pergolas. Matt, the Stuctureworks customer service manager, was very responsive as well as knowledgeable about the pergola products and services. And our estimator Henry did a great job working within our budget and happily assisted with several design revisions before we placed our final order. The communication during the production phase was also excellent and to our delight the pergolas were even delivered ahead of schedule. The parts, in particular the rafters and stringers, were all excellent quality and exactly what we expected. We look forward to many years of enjoyment from the Pergolas! I highly recommend Structureworks for your pergola project!

I worked with STRUCTUREWORKS for a 15 x 9 Projection Freestanding Oasis Pergola. The experience was great. Customer support representative and especially the sales representative, Henry was so patient with me. I did change my mind about several elements, such as color, size, lighting, etc. and they were always ready with the new design and quote. After finalizing the design, they sent me Rendering with all design and installation details for my contractor. They worked with me for more than 6 months and always were prompt at their responses. They had done an extremely meticulous work with shipment to assure that no piece was damaged. They had thought of every detail, even some paint, in case I would have any small scratches that needed some correction. I did install Pergola in my deck about 2 months after it was delivered because of other works I had to do, however my contractor did not have any problem or question for StructureWorks support because everything was in place. This project was finalized with a beautiful Pergola that is both functional and beautiful. Thank you StructureWorks and thank you Henry.

We had a very poor experience from beginning to end with this company. We spent $11,300 for materials from structure works to build a pergola. The material arrived damaged and the construction was delayed several weeks due to replacement. Moreover, 2 of the beams delaminated straight away. The contractor tried glue per the manufacturer recommendation, and the glue did not work. This happened straight away, and is clearly a manufacturing defect. This was installed with the defects visible. Perhaps a known defect with this product. Lastly, and the reason for the one star rating, is that the manufacturer offered to ship 2 new beams at our cost….$1500! Hard for us to call this a reputable company, as they do not stand behind their product.

I am very disappointed in the customer service I have received. Their painted product was left in the elements (where it will be for it's lifetime) for two days when it was delivered. The paint faded badly in multiple spots and they blame us for our handling of the product. Yes, they say to unpack it to make sure it is all there and then to repack it but they do not say the paint will fade if you don't treat it exactly as they say to. It is impossible to envision that an outdoor product will fade from getting wet. Now they want us to pay $1000 for paint to repaint their product.

I researched three companies when selecting our pergola. Structure Works and Peter Cook clearly stood out as the best. Peter is very knowledgeable and clearly explained all details to us. The fiberglass pergola "kit" they sent us was 100% complete and a high quality product. My husband and 2 friends assembled in a day and a half with clear instructions sent by Structure Works. I ordered samples from the three companies I was considering and we felt Structure Works had the best product. Their estimation of shipping date was accurate. When I had questions Peter Cook walked us through the answers. 100% happy with our choice and I would highly recommend Peter and Structure Works.

The team at Structureworks was extremely accommodating, professional, quick to respond, and detailed. We combined two of their pergolas and created a true "one off" custom pergola for our client, and the cut detail/assembly was spot on. The entire experience with them and their product was excellent. We hope to build many future projects with Structureworks.

For several years we had debated an addition on the front of our garage, for car shelter and entertaining. We didn’t want it to look like a carport, but to look like a natural extension of our two story Victorian farmhouse
style home. We didn’t want anything that detracted or looked tacked on in such a visible location on the side of our house. A classic Trex pergola by Structureworks proved to be the perfect solution. Covered with a nearly invisible but sturdy roofing system, our beautiful 20x20 “party pavillion” fits the bill. So many neighbors have commented that it looks like it has always been a part of the house. The team at Structureworks were outstanding throughout the project, from design to architectural renderings, packing, shipment, and construction questions. The parts are heavy duty and exactingly engineered. It took my 70 year old husband, a 70 year old friend, and my 65 year old brother exactly a week to finish the build (I was the project manager and construction supervisor!). The neighbors cheered us on and the City Inspector was most impressed. The plans were detailed and the work progressed without any hitches. So proud of our pergola and would highly recommend the product and the great staff at Structureworks.

Generally disappointed with the level of customer service in our installation of our patio deck structure.

They delayed our project due to their unresponsiveness and dragging their feet with our general contractor, ultimately resulting in a portion of our structure not being built. I just want to be clear, they stonewalled our contractor for weeks and months, not days. They were unwilling to admit any mistake, and ultimately cost us a lot of money. Our general contractor had to call the main customer service line to get a hold of anyone as they stopped responding to his emails.

When our electrician installed the wiring for the blinds, we learned after the wiring installation that the only way to setup the blinds is when they are individually unplugged and calibrated one at a time. Since the blinds were wired in, this is not a simple task I could complete alone, but required our electrician to come out on three separate occasions to disassemble the wiring and calibrate each. After we asked for instructions, and had the electrician out, we figured out we were missing instructions for the other blinds. If we were given instructions upfront ahead of time we would have saved time and money.

Just a general lack of communication and care from this manufacturer. I'll let you know they may have responded to this review, but they never reached out to me personally in regards to any of our issues.

Update: One of our shades collapsed yesterday months after installation and is damaged. Contractor advised number of clips to hold weight of shades was insufficient based on manufacturers recommendation. Attached photo.

Be very careful using this company. They demanded a deposit which was paid by our subcontractor using them. The project was cancelled and they refused to return the deposit or provide the material they SAID they bought. All this happened before they even had approved shop drawings. Be very weary of using this company.

We've been trying to complete a project for some time now and just ran into another delay with the installation of an outdoor fan for our Pergola. Out Sales Representative just told our General Contractor that he couldn't do anything to assist and that he was unsure why our STEP-BY-STEP instructions didn't included the installation of the brackets which would hold the housing base of the fan. Now we need to undo the previous work and remove several smaller and at least one larger rafter in order to install the brackets which hold the fan base. This isn't the first issue we've experienced with Structure Works. Our first issue was the companies lack of providing the pre-drilled channels for the wiring to handle the fan and outside outlets. All of which our contractor needed to complete for us. Product delivery was another fun opportunity with crushed and open boxes. Missing components and a delivery company who employed one rude driver. We reported and sent pictures Structure Works but never received any follow up. Yes, they did send us the missing components, which took additional time. If you're going to purchase a product with this company do your homework because we've not been pleased with their Customer Service, their instructions or follow up. It's sad that a project which we were/are excited to complete has turned into such an ordeal and additional costs we're having to cover due to the lack of this companies poorly written instructions. Don't believe the comments that it's like putting together Lincoln Logs. It's not.

We had a custom Trex Pergola fabricated and shipped to Alberta, Canada for a client in the summer of 2017. Upon delivery I noticed it had been damaged, most likely by the local shipping company that delivered it to the client's house. One of the two main beams was severely damaged.
I phoned Structurewoks, and they had a case file opened for replacement before I'd finished unloading the truck, and had a new beam produced and delivered within days.
This spring, after a rather gruelling winter, the second beam showed damage that hadn't been visible upon delivery, but was made visible by the freeze-thaw cycle. I contacted Structureworks - eight months after the initial install - and they once again quickly resolved the issue.

Working with Structureworks has been a pleasure. Their staff is professional and responsive, their product is beautiful and very well thought out. As a contractor I highly recommend them and their product, and I am looking forward to recommending their products to my clients in the future.

Service questions
1. Should I stay home during roof replacement?

It's not necessary to stay home during roof replacement. Roofing work is noisy and can cause vibrations inside the house, which might be uncomfortable. Most homeowners choose to leave during major parts of the project, but our team ensures safety and keeps you updated, whether you're home or not.

2. How long does roof replacement take?
+-

The timeline for a roof replacement typically ranges from one to three days, depending on the size and complexity of the roof, weather conditions, and material type. Larger or more intricate roofs may take a bit longer, but we always aim for efficient, timely completion.

3. How to hire a roofing contractor?
+-

To hire a roofing contractor, start by researching local companies with good reviews and proper licensing. Request quotes from multiple contractors, verify their insurance and certifications, and ask for references. Always ensure you get a written contract that outlines the scope of work, timeline, and payment terms.

4. How to check if a roofing company is legit?
+-

Check if a roofing company is legit by verifying their business license, insurance, and local certifications. Look for memberships in professional associations, read customer reviews, and ask for recent project references. A legitimate company will be transparent and provide all documentation upon request.

5. How to choose a roofing company?
+-

When choosing a roofing company, consider their experience, customer reviews, warranty offerings, and quality of materials. Make sure they provide clear communication, detailed estimates, and a solid portfolio of completed projects. Local expertise is also a major advantage for understanding regional roofing needs.

6. How do you know if your roofing contractor is ripping you off?
+-

Warning signs that your roofing contractor might be ripping you off include vague contracts, pressure to pay large upfront deposits, lack of proper documentation, and unexplained price increases. Always ask for itemized estimates and written guarantees, and avoid contractors who avoid answering your questions directly.
