There's a lot of steel building companies out there to choose from, some would say too many, but at the end of the day the "steel is steel" argument could not be further from the truth.

These guys are extremely diligent in making sure they provide their customers with the best steel that is available in this industry.

I would highly recommend going this route if I were a customer that is actually concerned with real quality.

Jose Ortiz (I think that's his last name). and his team did a fantastic job on building our building. They were pleasant, very polite, and attentive to the job. These guys worked in very hot weather and took very little break at all. We were very happy with the service that they provided. They cleaned up when they were finished and left nothing behind. Thank you Jose and your team. It was very nice working with you all.

Got some quotes from several dealers and many of them were for Steel Buildings. Decided to call and get some information from the horse's mouth and was impressed with how knowledgeable staff was and they were happy to answer any questions. I told them who I was quoted through, and they had great things to say about their sales reps at the dealerships. Very pleasant.

Installers were quick and professional. This is my 2nd building from them. Good quality and exactly what I discussed with the salesman. 100% happy.

The crew did quick and efficient work. The carport was installed well. The crew did a great job cleaning up after they were finished.

I would stay far away from this company. I have no idea how they have not been shut down yet! They are not professional and refuse to honor any of their deadlines. They blatantly deceive to get you to sign with them then hold hostage your money. Our job was supposed to be done months ago...yet they have not even started and refuse to give us a date. They keep making up excuses. None make sense or are valid. I wish I had read the reviews prior to signing with them. Their salespeople are experts in getting you to believe they are reputable. The review prove otherwise

Getting the engineered drawings was a little expensive in my opinion and took close to 3 months to get a set the county would accept. The building looks great and the assembly crew was also great

The team did a great job from start to finish, very professional and very polite.
They asked me questions to make sure everything was just like I wanted it.

GREAT COMPANY with reliable, honest people! We had two carports installed with contrasting trim and they look wonderful. The quality of the certified steel carports is evident and the installers were competent, friendly, hard working, reliable and efficient.

Nohemi, Jennifer and others in the office even worked with us on the payment date to enable us to focus on other moving expenses. What a great group of people working with this company!

The guys that installed my building are very hard workers an very steady at there job every body seems to no exactly what to do 30x60 completely closed in 2 12x12 roll-up doors 6 windows,3 walk in door 17' 6" to peek,lean to on the front 12x20 .All up an done in about 2 1/2 days . Everybody from sales, permiting an foundation department,an billing department has been extremely helpful an nice in every way, Thanks very much

I purchased a metal building from Keen’s Buildings, constructed by Steel Buildings and Structures (hereafter abbreviated to SB&S) in December 2024.

On February 16 (2025), during a heavy rain, I notified Keen’s Buildings that my windows are leaking. I sent a video. They told me to notify SB&S.

On February 21, I notified SB&S. I sent the video (taken during the heavy rain) and I received this reply: “Just forwarded it over to Dispatch! Thank you”

I don’t know how long these things take. On April 9th I wrote to them again: “I sent this video back in February, and I still haven't heard back from anyone about fixing this problem. What's the status?”

No reply. I followed this up with a phone call or two and also got Keen’s Buildings involved. Keen’s got a response from SB&S on April 23rd: “We will get this written up and on schedule as soon as possible.”

May 5, a crew came out and applied more silicone around my windows.

May 9, I sent them another message, notifying them that my windows are still leaking.
When I called them, the girl answering the phones in the office kept interrupting, and explaining that they will not simply send a crew out to fix my building. Rather, they will send a crew out to fix my building whenever they have a crew in my area.

On May 12, I received a text message from a new number asking me to send images of my leaking windows. I sent four new videos, one for each leaking window. I asked them to confirm receipt of these videos, and they said: “Yes, thanks”

Keen’s wrote on May 16 that they had spoken with SB&S, and that they would “…get someone rescheduled to go back out instead of randomly waiting for someone in the area…”

May 23-28 there has been a brief email exchange b/t me, Keen’s, and SB&S.

I’ve had words with both companies. They don’t prioritize me. They talk. I paid in full when the building was completed, not knowing their work was defective. Now they have my money and I still don’t have my completed building.

UPDATE July 4th: Steel Buildings and Structures has known about my leaking windows since February 2025. Two crews came out (two separate visits) to apply more silicone. I filed a complaint with BBB. On the BBB response, they said they would send someone out on June 9th to replace the windows. In reality, that crew came out on June 13th and replaced the siding (not the windows) of the building, lowering the position of the windows in relation to the siding. ALL of my windows are still leaking, and they now say they will send someone out July 17th to replace my windows. Will they be replaced with the same window manufacturer? Will I not have the same problems? Seems to me that not only are their ethics defective, but so is their product. What's more, they are in no hurry to right their wrongs. So once they have your money, you'll be placed on the back burner.

The team did an amazing job. They were quick and efficient. The garage is more than what I could have imagined and couldn't more pleased with the experience and job well done.

I went into this project with some reluctance. The more I researched, the more confused I became. Like everyone, I wanted that perfect balance of cost and quality. Well, I am thrilled to say I found them both with Steel Buildings and Structures. The quality of the end product and the install crew left me with a building that I can be proud of.

The carport was ordered on Valentine’s Day and was finally erected today, 3 months later! I was told that it would be between 4&6 weeks! I called SBS at 3 1/2 weeks because they had not called to schedule the installation. They told me that they didn’t have my order and that my salesman at Appalachian shed company lied to me that he didn’t place the order. I spoke to the owner of Appalachian shed company about this with very little success. So it took a total of 3 MONTHS to get a carport!!! One of their installers told me yesterday that he had heard many people say they had similar problems. There were multiple scheduling problems, and cancellations and zero follow through. The installers left trash laying around and installed a ground anchor that broke, and they did not replace it. Overall, the worst experience I’ve had with a company and do not recommend them at all!

Omar and his team did an awesome job installing my building and would deff recommend to a friend. Great communication the entire process. stand up guy for sure and follow up was impressive. Thanks again my friend

Steel Buildings and Structures installed a 30x40, 3 bay metal garage on 4/8/25. The poor workmanship and lack of professionalism by the crew and the nonexistent customer support following the installation make me wish they had never been asked to do the work. (SBS was contracted by Grizzly Buildings to do the installation.) The crew put up the building in one day, leaving a mess behind. Their equipment and materials tore up or graded and seeded lawn around the perimeter of the concrete slab and garage. They left dozens of nuts, bolts, screws, etc strewn in the yard. When asked who was going to clean up the mess,the crew leader said he didn't know. They left hastily without letting me first inspect the building. The crew also attempted to get an additional $300 in cash from me, $100 for each crew member. When I refused to give cash, they became angry and left ruts in my yard as they departed. I contacted the company and was told I could submit an invoice if I hired an outside company to repair the lawn, but there was no guarantee the crew (not SBS) would reimburse me. The following day, it rained and water flowed under the poorly installed bay doors. After making numerous phone calls and sending photos, a 2-man crew finally came 2 weeks later to adjust the doors and collect the nuts/bolts/screws. The doors still do not seal properly and rain continues to enter. It was suggested that It purchase tsunami seals, which SBS does not carry or install. Should I purchase them elsewhere, SBS management has said they will not reimburse me. As it stands now, I cannot put anything in the garage without risking water damage. I contracted for a garage, not a wading pool. Ilt's an understatement to say l'm disappointed with the performance of SBS. The stress and anxiety caused by dealing with this company a not worth it. I wish SBS would provide customer satisfaction by doing whatever is necessary to ensure water no longer comes in under the garage doors.

This has been the worst purchasing experience of my life. Absolutely horrible communication with a super long wait time to get my building. If I could give a lower star review, I would. Multiple promises were made from the day I put my deposit in that have not held up at all five months later still no building.

The scheduling process was a nightmare. They changed our installation date last minute and moved it to a day when the office was closed. The installation was scheduled for the mid-morning slot. They didn't show up till 3:30PM and didn't leave till almost 10:00PM. There was zero communication that they were running late, and no one was available in the office to communicate with. The install crew was great, but it was so late when they left, they couldn't properly clean up the jobsite. They left screws and sharp metal pieces all over ground which I had to go back and clean up. I had one go right through my tennis show and almost into my foot. The scheduling staff could care less. All they want to do it get it done and move on. Keep shopping if this is a business you are considering using.

Raymond the salesman walked me through all the options. He patiently helped me while I decided over a 2 week period. The installer crew was there on the day promised. Alex, the Hispanic crew leader was fantastic. Professional, courteous, and focused. They worked 3 days 11 hours a day and installed 2 buildings for me with 4 garage doors. Yes, construction is messy, if you aren't ready for a tiny bit of mess, get a shed. But if you want quality building for the money, go with these guys and Grizzly, their Reps. God bless you.

Worst company EVER. Do not use this company. My building was completed February 2025. Poorly installed missing brackets screws damaged windows screens roll up doors leaking ridge vent wrong door and the list goes on. My contractor that used this company cannot even get ahold of them for repairs. Mind you my building has failed inspection 3 times and we’re going on 3 months. Super unprofessional specially when a hard working family saves money for years to have a dream building built and gets screwed. Please take my advise and DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

Great experience! Nothing dented, damaged or busted before or after construction. These guys did an awesome job and worked their butts off.

Hey the guys knocked it out of the park with this one .They worked hard to get it done . The fit finish is Awesome . They kept checking their measurements . They made sure that it was level and plum . I’m 100% happy w/ the end product .

Can't get a clear answer when they will be scheduling my construction. They can't build it per my original design. So, I okayed the design change been in "scheduling" for 11 days with no updates or emails. As of now I don't know when my building is going to be scheduled.

Update I'm added stars to this review simply for the crew who installed my garage. They were fast and professional. They also completed a 30x50x14h building in 2 days!

The installing team did a great job. The issue is that the building is NOT 14 gauge like I it says it is. I called the company and was told that the square framing tubing is 14 gauge, but the panels are only 29 gauge ( THIN WALLS and THIN ROOF TOP ) I wanted to give this a five star but due to this misleading information, I gave them a ( 2 ) because, I feel like it is very important to get the complete details of what you're selling to a buyer . I'm going to do more more research to see if this expectable with the way it's being advertised .

Overall experience was great. Anyone I contacted or contacted me was pleasant, informative and professional and was either able answer any questions or got me to whomever could at that time, no return call later. The installation crew, Leo and crew, were also a professional, hardworking crew. They completed both structures in 2 days and left my site cleaner than when they arrived. I would HIGHLY recommend Steel Buildings and Structures for any needs you may have and if all their crews are anything like Leo’s you will not be disappointed.

Although we were in another state, the lines of communication were top-notch. From Cristian, the office staff, and the gentlemen who came out and worked more hours in a day than normal! They were all wonderful. They left the job site/my house, in a better state than they started with. I highly recommend using this company.

Install crew was top knotch. They had the entire building complete in 2 days. The quality of work was amazing. They worked long hours and kept us in the loop with everything.

I bought this building for storage and for car coverage and I couldn’t be more happier! Grizzly Steel Structures done a great job helping me out pick the building right for me, and Hugo and his crew were very professional and hard working!! It snowed the day before any they came out in the freezing cold and had my garage done in 2 days. Great company and wonderful people. 100% recommend them!!

This shady company is plagued with communication failures, both internally between departments and externally with customers. You might be able to save $500 going with this company over another, but it’s not at all worth it. I have been waiting on a building to be installed in “2-4 weeks” for about 4 weeks now. As of today, they are telling me that that it will be installed in a couple weeks, “weather permitting and all….” Oh, and they just sprung on me that I have to pay another 50% deposit before manufacturing the building. Did they tell me that before? No. Did they tell me that when I just called them and was trying to get a date? Yes.

We had Ponce installers do the install and it was great -
4 days they built the most amazing shed.

Great work to put up the building but unacceptable site left behind. We provided a trash can and multiple trash bags and there was still a ridiculous amount of bottles, food trash, bandaids, screws and scrap metal, and more left behind. It took as long for us to clean up as it did for them to do the project!

This process was seamless from beginning to end. I asked if I could delay the install for 6 months and that was no problem. Their customer service folks were available and always helpful throughout the project. I changed door locations a couple of times, including the week before my building was being delivered and they worked with me to make these changes. I priced them against many other companies and their pricing was very competitive and their sales folks were quick to call back but there was no sales pressure at all.
On the day of my installation, Miguel showed up at 6:20, his 5 man crew completed the 30' x 30' building with 2 garage doors, 1 walk in door and 2 windows, completely by 3:30 that afternoon. They worked great together and were very professional throughout the day. There were 1 or 2 things that I had questions about during the day and they were very willing to discuss these issues with me and explain what they were doing.
I have only had my building for a few weeks so this isn't a review of the lasting quality, but it's a review of the entire process, the company's office staff and the installation crew. I will revise this review if anything seems substandard, but I don't expect that to happen because this group has been excellent and the quality of the building meets or exceeds my expectations.

The building was all I expected & the group that was sent to install it was absolutely the best, friendly worked together like you would not believe in spite of the 90 degree heat. Also thanks to Barbara Duncan for all the help an patients with me.

Seem to be a pass through for other companies. Waiting on the proper door 10x10 door information. As of right now I would steer clear of this company and any building company out of Mt. Airy, NC . (REBEL METAL STEEL BUILDINGS, LEADING STEEL BUILDINGS, AND FIRST CLASS METAL BUILDINGS). They are all connected and will take your money and not pass inspections. 7 months of issues and no power to the building

I will update my review once my building passes inspection.

SBS provided a 20’x25’ foot building with a 12’x25’ attached overhang (see pics). Communications for prep, delivery and actual build were of the highest caliber. The 2 man crew worked very hard for (2) days and cleaned-up the area to original conditions. A high quality building with good aesthetics. Highly recommend SBS.

These people told me they would install my garage and then drive 6 hours there to tell me that they couldn't cross this one creek, so rather than call me to discuss it while they were there, they just left!

It then put us behind one week which it wound up dumping 2ft of snow on us where we were supposed to move out from before this happened. It wound up costing us many thousands of dollars in headaches and stuff we had to leave behind. That's a long nightmare in itself to explain.

They came back out 2 weeks later and told me they couldn't cross again despite another guy crossing with the same size trailer. They told me they can carry the stuff across but it would be an extra $500 in labor. Really, so you could have just carried out across the first time??

Aside from all that, the garage door section doesn't close easily. The regular door doesn't either. And water leakes under it every time it rains.

I'll be suing them soon when I make the time.

Unfortunately, I recommended a fiend to them before this debacle and it took them several months more to get to her than was told. Then, they told them they were no longer putting in the windows and that they had to so this themselves! WTH!

Street clear of this company! Grossly incompetent and severally disorganized as on another call they couldn't even get who I was straightened out.

I purchased my building through a dealer which utilized SBSI to manufacture the building. The building quality is subpar at best. The contactors that installed the building took zero pride in their work. After the initial installation I noticed several scratches and dents throughout the structure. There was missing framing throughout the building. The panels and trim cut too short and looked horrible. SBSI attempted to warranty and make things right, but I still have noticed several scratches and dents after the warranty repair, I even noticed that silicone was utilized on the roof where a fastener should have been located. My guess is the contractor tightened the fastener so tight that the head of the fastener broke from the body. Instead of removing the panel and broken fastener, they used silicone. Poor craftsmanship on a brand-new build. Despite the quality of the structure, the contractors damaged the driveway and culvert trying to back up their trailer the day of the initial installation - damage was more than I expected. Unfortunately, I would not recommend SBSI to build your structure.

I had a 30 x 40 building put up on my slab. The communication process was good. It got put up in a timely manner. I am pretty pleased with the building.
As far as the workmanship and contractors on site, it was not so great. I have a few dents in my building. The workers dropped a panel and dented it. They weren’t gonna tell me until I pointed out. I could live with it since it’s mostly covered by the eave. I asked for some blue color matched self tapping screws. That was a month ago, still haven’t heard anything back. So service after the sale is questionable.

Update: Thank you for your prompt response. It is possible I may have missed a call as I do live a very busy lifestyle.
I appreciate your response to my review and received a call today in which I spoke with Daisy who was very professional. I text pictures of the damaged panels. The process to get them replaced is being put into motion. Once the repairs are complete I will post an update. I do love my shop and the communication and installation process were great. I would say approximately a month after I payed my deposit, the shop was being put up. Thank you
Final Update: SBS sent a crew out to do the repairs on my building. The crew that did the repairs were much better than the original installation crew. They did a great job. I am satisfied with SBS standing behind their product. I am an industrial maintenance technician/ welder, so I know how things can happen. SBS took the time to make things right. Thank you.

I contacted Steel Buildings and Structures this morning. I'm having rollup door issues. SBS can't tell me when they can come out for repairs, but will call when they have someone in the area?? So when is it, 2 weeks, 4 weeks?? I expected them to schedule a date, but they really don't care. All warranty work appears to be at their convenience and not yours.

They did a great job putting it up. I was completely satisfied, but this is unacceptable

My Cardinal Red roof on a 24’x30’ garage installed 3/2019 started fading horribly. I didn’t notice it until this spring and thought it was the heavy pollen we get here. After 3 hard rain storms I realized it wasn’t pollen but bad fading. I called Steel Buildings and sent pictures at Mr. Smith’s request 5/4/23 at noon, sent text for update 5/5 at 2:20, called 5/8 and had to be transferred because I got voicemail which was unacceptable.
Anyway, I was then told that fading is not covered, only 20year warranty on rust. It’s the large building in the back of the pics. Wish I had read reviews and not trusted the salesperson at the retail lot.

They installed my 30-40 here in Cleveland ga and i couldnt have asked for a better job. Thanks to gasper with g rod install crew. These guys work with sbs and are amazing. The company called me several times to go over everything and was very professional. They came in a short time also. I asked the crew to work off my back edge of slab because it was a few inches out. They knew exactly what to do. I was completely happy with this purchase.

I bought a 30 by 30 with 12 ft lean shelter. Guys were very professional putting up. Everything plum square and level. TheDone

This company is a task to work with.
There seems to be a lack of organization and a massive disconnect between the customer, SBS, and the contractors installing the buildings. When trying to schedule installation or repair, they called me a couple of days in advance and always gave me a generalization such as “early morning” and never gave me an actual timeline which made it impossible for me to schedule my work. If the date got shifted around because of the contractors or the weather, they wouldn’t call me to give me an update, I would find out by calling them or by standing around and waiting for the contractors to show up. A generalized timeline that is not adhered to and lack of communication shows a complete disregard for my time. Especially considering I’m paying for a service that costs thousands of dollars.
The contractors also installed the widow on the wrong wall, despite discussing it prior to construction and the photos provided on the order paperwork. When the representative called me to schedule the repair I was told “early morning, March 13” and for some reason the crew arrived at 7:30pm March 12 while I wasn’t home. The installers said they would be back in the morning at 6am, they did not show up until 7:30am and wouldn’t answer when I called and tried to get an update.
They also took it upon themselves to use my magnetic level that was attached to my toolbox without asking. And yes, I know that it was mine because I saw my name written on it.
At the end of the job the contractor had me sign the paperwork and I asked him if he was collecting the payment and he ignored my question and left without collecting the check for the building.
All in all, approach working with this company with caution. The structure is fine, but the experience was terrible.

Great company, even better staff! Communication is so important and the staff was constantly communicating with me. The installers were awesome, hard working and very tidy.

Currently sitting on an unusable building purchased in October 2022. Nothing went right. Build was supposed to take 3-4 days and took over 7. Some of it was weather delay, which is understandable, but the biggest delays were the manufacturer gave the crew the wrong materials AND the crew ruined some of it and had to go get more. Building was finished day after Christmas and it’s unusable (county specifically said it may not be used( because it failed county inspection due to improper build (they did not build it according to their own plans). Almost 5 weeks to get another crew out here and now they refused to fix it to be built ACCORDING TO THEIR OWN ENGINEERING PLAN! So it will fail inspection again. How long are we going to have to wait to be able to use our $50,000 building? We’re now behind on other projects and our animals are suffering. If you are researching companies to use, please, I implore you to use someone else.

Update: I contacted Jeff at HOS the following day and he contacted the manufacturer and 2 of the workers returned the following Wednesday and corrected their mistake.

I purchased a carport from SBS via their distributor House of Stars. Jeff was attentive and answered all of my questions thoroughly. I didn’t feel pressured or rushed to purchase. He even gave a brief history of the company. He said install would be 2-4 weeks and informed me that I would possibly need a permit and to check with my code office. I checked and I needed a zoning permit as well as a building permit. The following week Judy from HOS called to tell me that I needed a lift that they would provide but I needed to call her ASAP after SBS called with install day so that she could get someone lined up. She gave me her personal cell number to ensure I could reach her. About 2 weeks later SBS (Laura) called to confirm details of order she’s said it would be 2-4 weeks from the date of her call before installation date because of holidays. A few days later SBS called and scheduled for the following Tuesday; 19 days after my order with HOS. I was very concerned when 2 Hispanics arrived that spoke no English and attempted to ask me questions. After a little game of charades we established where and which direction I wanted carport to face. A third man, also Hispanic, arrived and spoke a little English. They arrived a little after 4 pm and worked well into the night; until about 8:20 pm, using their small flashlights hanging around their necks and the lone street light to work. I watched as they picked up their tools and scrap pieces of metal. We were expecting rain the next day and I was going to move my car to the carport but instinct, oddly, said to wait. I went out this morning and found that there were 47 self drilling screws all in my driveway and their work area just waiting to go into one of my car tires. Upon inspecting the carport I noticed an area at the front of the roof that’s not laying evenly with the other pieces. It doesn’t look like it will be a problem but I’m no expert so I’ll be reaching out to House of Stars this morning. Overall I’m very satisfied with the service I received from HOS. The SBS contracted installers (Carlos, Enrique and Reese) worked well together and they all seemed to know their assignments. One of their machines that puts the big spikes into the ground stopped working and one of them had to turn it with a piece of rebar to get them into the ground. While I appreciate them trying to get my carport installed in one day, I’d recommend, after seeing the mislaid piece of metal in the roof, that they be made to stop work before it gets dark. I’d use them again for daylight only work so that I can inspect while they are still on grounds.

UPDATE: April 2024: It’s been a year and a few months since my install and my husband noticed several places on an overhead beam that looked like it had been sliced open with a knife and extensive rusting along the same beam. It appears that the rust is eating away at the metal. I contacted the SB & S inc. and after being transferred several times; an ultimately back to the original woman, I was told that there is a 20 year (rust) warranty on my building and repairs needed to be scheduled. The person I spoke with said she’d have to contact scheduling and they would contact me. It’s been over a week and I’ve not heard back regarding having my repairs completed. I’ll give them another week. I think that is more than a sufficient amount of time.

Yes I had a building put up by these people they did a piss-poor job to send a crew that does need speak Spanish babe The cutting on the bottom of the building along the concrete is not done properly it's all jagged gaps they did not steal Windows or anything I just think that they did a piss-poor job big buildings of it was okay but this company was very poor very piss poor quality very bad I do not like them I will never again and they complain that I altered their building I did not or alter any part of their structure I put two holes in for my water inlet and my water outlet and that was it they refused to repair the panels because of the first cruise mistakes and I will never recommend them again I think that terrible and I hope they get there just deserves for doing such a piss poor quality job

First off I don't know how I ended up with this company, I guess when you first start the process your project gets either sold to other companies or just shuffled around to an installer sub contractor. The communication is HORRIBLE, unless they want $$$, then they are very prompt.

First off my building was rather tall, so it was my responsibility to order an " Aireal lift", so I did, but when contractors showed to install, according to them it was the wrong equipment because it had a basket and not forks! No one mentioned forks, or else I would have ordered a Lull, that according to them was my fault, which cost me a minimum 4 hour rental. Then the new machine got delivered, at 3x the cost of the one they originally said I needed.

Next the crew finished and was gone without leaving keys to the man door, I emailed their office and was told the crew said the lock was missing the keys, so they just left it like that and when they had another installation in the area they would bring out a lock....until then my tools and equipment would be at risk....there is a home depot 1 mile from my house...why not just pick up a lock with keys and complete the job in a professional manner, of course not, just make more excuses. I would never recommend these idiots to anyone, as a matter of fact a buddy of mine asked who I used because they want to have one installed too, they just lost 20k dollars...I would never recommend them, steer clear of this company.

Terrible service. Put my barn up half way off the pad blocked a gate and some of a driveway. Yes, they were told where exactly to put it. They refused to move it. When we called the lady we spoke too, Emily, was very very rude and told us we could move it yet we payed them to install it properly And they didn’t

I just had a 26’x36’ barn constructed, purchased through Steel Buildings and Structures, Inc, out of Mt. Airy, NC.

First with the positive comments:

All throughout the sales process, Amanda was friendly, attentive, timely and provided everything I needed in order to make an informed decision. The price was competitive and the delivery times seemed to fit with exactly what I needed. I purchased the barn.

I needed a permit for the foundation. I requested and had the engineered drawings in less than 24 hours from SBS. That was an unexpected and pleasant surprise.

...and now, the not so positive comments:

I can go into a lot of details, but that would exceed my character limit for the review, so I’ll just stick to the bullet points...

- After the job went to “scheduling”, communication and responsiveness essentially stopped.

- Inquiries to get a ballpark installation date so that I could make plans were met with complete indifference. There is much more to this... I will elaborate on request.

- I took time off from work to be onsite for the arrival of the installer so I could unlock the gate and take the installation team to the construction site. Several hours after they were to arrive I received a call telling me they would be a little late, but to expect them before lunch.

- Several hours after lunch, still with no installation team, I called and was put into voicemail.

- At 2:30 I was able to get a live person on the phone, but was immediately placed on hold.

- While on hold, the installer called me to say he was on his way.

- The installer arrived with his young son and stated his “help” didn’t show up for work, but he would take care of us.

That installer and his son worked their butts off. They were exceptional and I am very pleased with the end result.

Two minutes of scheduling’s time could have given me the ballpark idea when to plan for the installation. Instead, I received indifference and attitude.

A good company stands out the most when things don’t go as planned. In this case, SBS failed. Not only did then not provide updates proactively, I couldn’t even get updates when I tried reaching out.

I understand the challenges of the supply chain, production issues and the manpower shortages. Those aren’t the issue. Communication was the issue, and that is 100% under the internal control of the company providing the product and service.

I have several more upcoming projects. Again, the end result was exceptional and I am very pleased... I just have to figure out whether I want to put up with the avoidable frustration or take a chance with a different company.

Steel Buildings & Structures

July 2022, we contracted with SB&S to build a 13x25x11 steel building to cover a travel trailer. We selected SB&S after meeting with three other steel building companies and we believe we chose the right company. SB&S’ staff was always professional, available (during business hours) to answer our questions, make notes about our project and listen. The products that SB&S used were excellent and we are overall pleased with the structure. We felt like the time we waited to have our building erected (9 business days) was very reasonable. Also, we believe that the price we paid for project was fair. (It was definitely much more reasonable than the three local steel building quotes we received.)

SB&S will want to continue monitoring and managing closely the installers they use (installers are contracted by SB&S). Overall, our installers did a good job and demonstrated an understanding of the project they needed to complete. The installers were respectful and cleaned up after themselves. A critical step was missed (mobile home anchors were not installed due to broken equipment) so we withheld entire payment to SB&S until the mobile home anchors were installed and the project was 100% complete to our satisfaction. (Note: Mobile home anchors are required in order to meet NC state and county code. Mobile home anchors were required on our project due to the site preparation.) We worked with SB&S to reschedule a crew to return and put in the mobile home anchors (our wait was two weeks). Also, we discovered we needed additional angle braces on the center vertical walls. This was pointed out by a SB&S representative. The missing right angle braces were installed the day the mobile home anchors were put in. Installers need refresher training to ensure all steps are completed in the right order and that the project is 100% complete. They are a direct reflection on SB&S and have everything to do with the final outcome of the project.

A word of caution: Make sure your building is 100% accurate before you pay and the installers leave.

Purchased a building in 2021 it was constructed now the county wants the drawings and they will no supply them for me for the last month. The county is now fine me $50 A-day they won't call me back With any information next move by the county will be to remove the building. Tomorrow I'll be getting in my car and driving to see them in person. This does not work I am going to file a claim against them in small claims court in cataba county. They sure didn't mind taking my $3400 cashing the check.

Although the builders they sent out made some pretty significant errors, they were very nice in agreeing and seeing that they are pretty significant. They are coming back out and are going to correct the issues. If there are any negative comments for me to say afterwards I will, otherwise, it's been a good experience.

We got rescheduled twice, once because of rain and the next reschedule was due to someone else canceling their order. We had a large concrete job going on at the same time and had to reschedule our concrete job. Finally got everything installed, which was great, the guys installing the unit worked with us to get things completed. We were told by the person we purchased the unit from that we had to come a foot off the house for installation, so when we had the concrete slab poured we allowed for that foot, BUT, when the installers came out, they told us two feet. My husband did a lot of digging and moving blocks to get the extra foot. So, when the unit was completely installed we had an area the depth of the unit by 6 inches that was dirt, not concrete. We had to have the concrete guys come back out and rework that area, so the unit is showing a concrete floor inside (the entire inside). So, all this said and done, we were pleased with how the unit looked, BUT, we discovered after all was done, we received a 20' x 20' unit (inside measurements), when we paid for 21' x 20' unit. The company was happy to speak with me when they thought everything was good, but they have NOT spoke with me at all since they found out there was a problem. Very disappointed that our truck will not fit in the unit!
