Mark was recommended to me through a Facebook group and I’m so glad I went with Starter Home Improvements.

I was originally thinking about doing a patch job on my roof where it was leaking. After talking to Mark about various aspects of my roof I decided to replace the entire roof (with the exception of the side with the solar panels - there are no issues with that part of the roof and the solar company wanted way to much money to remove and reinstall the panels). Mark also mentioned something he noticed about my chimney which I had him take care of as well. In addition to the roof and chimney I had new gutters installed.

Mark was friendly and easy to work with throughout the entire planning and installation process. He always answered my questions promptly. He took the time to review in detail the scope of work, contract, scheduling, etc. His crew was punctual, efficient and completed the job as promised.

I can’t believe how beautiful my house turned out! I had a new roof, siding, windows, trim, doors, and gutters done by Starter Home Improvement. With so much work happening at once, there were times when I doubted what the final outcome would be but Mark reassured me to wait it out for the final product and I was blown away!! Mark was receptive to all my questions and gave honest answers. I couldn’t be happier with the outcome of our project and love all the compliments I get on our home. Starter Home Improvement did an amazing job siding our home and building our shed. Mark is friendly, gave us very fair pricing and responded quickly to our many questions. The materials took sometime to arrive which was communicated up front. Once the materials arrived Mark’s crew was there consistently until the siding was completed. I’m amazed. Responsive and communicative. We needed someone to seal up the roof before a storm and within an hour they were there and everything is buttoned up. I can take a breath. I can’t wait to work with them again and will be recommending them to my friends and family.

My roof was damaged about 12 years ago and water started to leak thru the shingles where insurance company did a poor repair job. Mark was kind enough and able to come out on the weekend to conduct the assessment. Very quickly, The crew came within two weeks and did what we have discussed to replace all the shingles and improvement to my existing leaf guard.

We reached out to Mark for an estimate to fix a gutter issue that was causing flooding in our mulch beds. He shared that it was a small fix and offered to swing by to take care of it. We had Mark and his crew strip the old cedar shakes off our home and install new siding and we couldn't be happier with the work that was done, it looks amazing! Also had them do some masonry work on our front porch, they fixed a leak on the eve of our roof and even fixed some shoddy work another contractor did on the flashing on our chimney. We found ourselves in somewhat of a stressful situation when sections of our roof flew off in a windstorm. Mark came recommended by a family member, so we decided to give him a call. He provided a detailed estimate and sat down with us to review it and answer any questions. When the day of the installation came, I was amazed at how fast and efficient the team was. Mark called frequently during the installation to make sure we were comfortable and to give us a progress report. The final product exceeded our expectations and they left our property so clean, it is like they were never there. Wonderful experience from beginning to end and we will reach out to Mark again!

Mark and his crew at Starter Home Improvements replaced my windows, vinyl siding, roof, gutters and a variety of other jobs at my house. Excellent work and high quality products. They showed up on time and completed the job. My house looks amazing. Mark is a super nice guy, easy to talk to and he cares about your project. He is also trustworthy and does what he says he is going to do.

In July 2020, I hired this company to provide me a new garage, siding, and a driveway at my home. I was told the job would take a total of two months. Unfortunately, this contractor turned out to be a complete fraud - including the actual contract that he advanced as legitimate. For weeks (months) after my garage was demolished, very little to no work was even done on my home. One day, three workers showed up, provided about a half day's labor, and then left. Apparently, he did not have the proper licenses to begin working on my property before December 1, 2020. Caveat emptor.

Fast forward to February 2021: I was informed that my garage doors were finally ordered. Three months later, I come to find out that Home Depot has no order of garage doors from Starter anywhere within their online system. You read that right. He lied about ordering doors. Meanwhile, the meter is running on my storage pod.

Ten months later, the sheet rock dividing my living room wall to the garage was poorly installed, sanded & painted to the point that it all has to be redone. I have shutters that were hung upside down. I have piles of nails left all over my property. And to top it off, my lawn was left gashed by his removal of a dumpster that I was told couldn't be removed without first securing a hoist. Once he was fired, he dragged the dumpster off my property, leaving a sizable trough in my wake.

On May 24th, the CT Attorney General was contacted. Today it was a visit to the Trumbull Police Department on Edison Road. Tomorrow is the Buildings Department at Town Hall. Thursday will be the Better Business Bureau. Every legal resource will be utilized and engaged. As a former police officer that spent years investigating offenses & putting offenders in jail, I wouldn't have it any other way.

If you are reading this, I hope that I have saved your marriage, your wallet, and your home by not using this contractor.
