Started So Well and Ended So Badly

I used Square Deal to install a new roof and new gutters on our detached garage. Their quote was competitive and we authorized them to proceed. After some delay they completed both jobs, with one exception. Due to the presence of a tree at one corner of the garage, they had to leave completion of the roofing and gutter until the tree was removed. We paid the entire invoice in good faith.

When we removed the tree, we requested that they come back and finish up. That was in November 2021. Despite following up with them several times (and being assured they would come and finish), they have never come back. When I contacted them again last week, they advised that I should 'deal with it in another way'.

I have attached a photo of what I guess Square Deal considers to be a complete job. There are lots of roofers in Victoria - I'd recommend you find one that will complete the job they were paid for and that seems to leave out Square Deal.

I had a small issue with my roof which was under warranty . I called and they responded immediately and fixed the small leak within an hour . Very impressed with their customer service ! Thanks !

Ken and Jordan appeared today without their Super Hero outfits but I know them to be Super Heroes. Despite being very busy with other clients they made it a priority to fix my leaky carport before the next torrential storm. I was so relieved to see them arrive and provide peace of mind for me. I highly recommend this company for their integrity, community values and commitment to their customers. First Class all the way.

Very happy with my new roof from Square Deal, it looks great and they did a great job installing it in tough conditions! Jordan even managed to patch a leaky section while we waited to replace the roof, and now I can sleep soundly at night in the wind and the rain. Thanks Square Deal!

I was recommended Square Deal Roofing when I had a leak in my house after a big storm. I called Ken for a quote on a new roof as I was told by others that it was likely what I needed. Ken's son Jordan showed up the very next day to measure it out and give me a quote when he assured me he saw no need to replace the roof as it wasn't nearing the end of its life and asked me why I thought I needed it done. I explained to him the leak and he had a look in my attic at what was going on. He repaired my roof and fixed my problem within an hour, saving me thousands that I had been quoted by others. I cannot express how thankful I am for this good hearted family run business. Definitely will be getting recommendations from me going forward.

This is a great local company. I just had my roof done June 22-June 26., 2020. I am very impressed with the excellent and professional work. These guys are really hard working. They did a great cleanup of my property. I definitely recommend them. (just in case, you might need to pay a small deposit because they need to order a particular colour or type of material (i paid $500, this made me nervous, but I definitely trust these guys). Great friendly group of workers!

Square Deal Roofing did a fabulous job replacing the roof on our lovely old house. The results are great and Jordan and Ken are great to work with. Very good attention to detail and value! My wife and I are super happy.

My mother contracted roof repairs with Square Deal Roofing Ltd, but the roof was too high and the high angle caused the water to not reach the 2 corner drains, unless it was about 90% full of water. There is now a constant water pond on the flat roof. The owner refused to fix the problem and still yelled at my mother and demanded full payment while not fixing the mistake first. The initial response was good until the service was bad later on. We would not be saying this if the customer service was good all the way. The other stars are for the good initial service, but dropped the other stars after the drain mistake and refusal to fix the problem. They botched the roof job and now my mother is all cranky and ordering me around to do things for her like I am a servant. I have them to thank for that too.

The owner of Square Deal Roofing sent his son to try to trick more money payments to fix their roofing mistake. The owner was too eager to get full payment even before the roof repair was even fully completed. They now refuse to correct their mistake, want all the payment, and also want to charge more money to fix their initial botched job. It seems like extortion for much more money. They held the deposit money for months to collect bank interest before even starting the job.

They are behaving like a shady mechanic shop making more problems to sell more stuff. They were rude, loud, abusive, avoiding their responsibilities, and grabbed a copy of the original contract from my mother's hands and then substitute it with a rewritten contract with altered terms. They never completed the roofing job according to their original agreement terms and then fraudulently filed a debt lien on our building, when they never completed the entire job, and rewrote the contract that was different from the original agreement. We may have to take legal action against this company to force them to complete work, and retract the fraudulently filed lien with falsified documents.

This rating will change depending on how they handle their customer service, whether they fix their mistake or not, etc. Some friends said there are contractors who will just slap things together, get their money fast, and run. Client problems are their problems, bye bye. As it is right now, they are rude, fraudulent, unprofessional, with lots of bad attitude.

I have been dealing with Square Deal Roofing for many years, and it's always been a great experience! Ken and Jordan replaced the roof on my previous home about 9 years ago. After I moved, the cedar shingle roof on my new house looked pretty ragged, but Ken did an inspection and said I could get several more years out of it -- and I did. But the time was up, and I just had them replace a rental house roof, and my own house and garage roof in Oct/Nov 2019. I was diligent and got a few other quotes, but their quote was the best. And it was easy to hire them because I knew they would be fair and do a great job -- and they did! The whole team was fast and efficient. They made sure to protect my and my neighbour's property when they did the tear-off. The new roof looks great (and even impressed my developer-neighbour). The yard was left looking great both during and at the end of the job. Ken and Jordan are friendly and great to deal with. I've already passed their name on to two friends who need roofing services, and I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone!

Jordan came by to check on my gutters cuz I thought they were sagging and falling off. He took a look and gave some helpful advice on what was going on up there. Very very friendly. I'd recommend him if you have roofing needs!

We sprung a couple of leaks in our roof over a two month period. We spoke with several roofing contractors and decided to work with Square Deal Roofing. Jordan was very professional and thorough. He listened when I had questions and gave solid answers and advice. We decided to have our roof replaced and went with malarkey Vista 40 yr for tiles and had all the badger boards and fascia replaced along with our gutters. We even decided to have the fascia boards wrapped in black aluminum to preserve them. Jordan's team was very meticulous in their work, quick, clean, and kept the noise to a minimum. We would recommend Square Deal Roofing without hesitation. Oh and the price was very competitive as well.
Update - we just had ken in to replace most of the vents on our new 90's house and repair a few downspouts - Ken is very quick to respond and did great work :) Thanks so much!

After receiving the news from a different company that we would need to replace our entire roof we called square deal for a second opinion. They were very easy to communicate and very honest and fixed our minor leak in an hour and saved us thousands of dollars at a time when we really couldn’t afford to replace our roof. Highly recommend and will be using them in the future when it does come time to replace our roof.

Very reputable roofing company, I have reffered them to many of my own costumers (I own a roof demossing company and if a roof needs to be replaced rather than cleaned we refer them to these guys) and they have always been happy with the service and quality of work.

They did an excellent job on our roof. We got our quote in a timely manner, the quote was excellent and the work explemplary. The crew was great taking care to minimise any disruption. Highly recommend.

I had never heard of this company until they were recommended to me by a gutter company. I got three quotes for my house - they were the best. I asked for 3 references and followed up on those - everyone I spoke with said they were excellent.
My experience - they were just that - excellent. The job was done in a timely and professional manner and exactly to specifications. They worked hard to protect my shrubs, balcony and side of the house from the old cedar shingles that needed to be removed. They did a great and thorough job of clean up during and especially on the final day.
I would recommend them to friends (the true test) in a heart beat.
