My new favorite builder in the Fairbanks area. In a location that doesn’t build a lot of homes every year, SQC stepped up to the plate and is building amazing new homes. Say goodbye to cookie cutter boring homes and check out their elevated floor plans. Tray ceilings, fire places and more. Can’t wait to see some more of their homes in the near future.

I couldn’t be happier with the work SQC General Contractors did on my condo.

I was in the process of selling it, and the inspection report had a list of repairs that needed to be addressed quickly. One of the items flagged was a GFCI redundancy issue with the bathroom receptacle. SQC came in, diagnosed the problem right away, and replaced the receptacle to ensure it was up to code. They even took the time to double-check the entire circuit to make sure there were no other issues, giving me complete confidence in their work. I was worried it would delay the sale, but SQC handled it so efficiently that the work was done within a day. They even explained the issue to me in simple terms and made sure I understood exactly what they were fixing.

Another issue was sealing the vapor barrier in the crawlspace, which had gaps and tears that could lead to moisture problems. SQC handled it perfectly—they removed the damaged section, installed new material, and ensured the entire barrier was sealed tight.

They were always on time, professional, and kept me in the loop throughout the entire process. While their prices were a little higher than other contractors, the quality of their work and their attention to detail were absolutely worth it. Knowing everything was done right gave me total peace of mind as I moved forward with the sale.

If you’re selling a property and need inspections items done or need any other kind of construction or repair work, I would Highly recommend SQC General Contractors. They truly went above and beyond, and I’ll definitely reach out to them again for future projects!

Probably one of the biggest rip offs in all of Fairbanks. They were assigned to me through Lowe’s to install a dishwasher. I paid Lowe’s for the installation already. I wasn’t home, but they charged my family member $700 to install an outlet since it wasn’t a hard wire dishwasher (the wires and box were already there from the old one, quick fix). Absolutely insane. I wish that I waited a week for myself to get home to install it.
When I called Sam, he played it off he was “amazed and hurt” I told him he was ripping me off. He claimed he only did good in the Fairbanks community….but then threatened me “it would be smart not to argue with a contractor in Fairbanks since there are not many options …and people talk in this small town”. You guys should be ashamed of yourselves. No integrity.

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond to my review. You are right time should never diminish the value of one’s experiences; especially when one was so dishonest and crooked as this. Honestly, I saw another complaint about your company recently and it only felt right to let the people know what happened to me.

So here’s the real facts about your BS response in attempt to try and save face with future clients:
Notice how SQC never denied they threatened me not to “argue with a contractor” and “they talk”? Hm I wonder why….(because it’s true this was said to me). They take that same attitude, and overcharge their customers with no shame. SQC feels they can take advantage of the contractor shortage in Fairbanks.

Save us the time with the Loews Contract crap talk. It’s a scam. We both know it’s not that cut and dry when it comes to a customer already paying $350+ for installation. I talked to Lowe’s for an extensive amount of time and they admitted this isn’t the first time this had happened. Involving YOU guys too! Also, we both know at the time of my installation, there was no quick $45 assessment fee or option. This was a procedure put into place after this whole mess. Glad you found another way to make a quick $45 by assessing “we don’t see an outlet to plug this in”. Ridiculous.
Ah yes to your “services and materials” now:

1. 7/8x24 black rubber flex hose- $7 at Loews
2. 3/8"x1/2" single hot water quarter turn valve- $14 at Loews
3. 110v cover and wire- less than $20? (Don’t worry I rounded up for these)
4. Worked around a lazy Susan!? Laughed hard at this comment. That had absolutely no effect since the hookups were on the opposite side of it. I have pictures of the work area as proof. LAZY.

Here’s the biggest lie: 4.5 of work. Funny thing is I still have the texts and images from the security cams. Your worker texted me on scheduled installation day…

“Getting held up in Lowe’s for appliance pick up. Will be there a little after 11.”

They showed up shy of 11:15am. Job was complete at about 1245pm when SQC left. Yup that’s right folks….1.5 hours of work only. A chunk of that time was trying to coordinate with Loews too. You guys were also rushing my family member because you had other “pick ups to do”.

So it’s paramount I understand your $40 worth of supplies and over 1hr of work is equal to $700+? When I already paid $350 for installation ($1050 total in fees).
Since you just admitted that it was mistakenly logged as 4.5 hours of work compared to 1.5 hours, should I get a refund for all that labor? I should be getting a solid $500 coming back to me mathematically. I even let you keep a little extra since it was over a $700 bill.

You took advantage of a situation and left a lasting impression on me. It’s that simple. $700 might not be a lot to you, but it IS to many. And if you disagree saying $700 is a lot to you…then how the hell can you justify that amount charged to install an outlet and hooking up a hose.

When we spoke on the phone about it, you didn’t care to listen. You left me feeling hopeless, and were more interested in expressing your disappointment in me for questioning your business practices. Lack of empathy.

Hey there, just wanted to share our experience with SQC General Contractors. We've worked with them on a few projects now, including the construction of our three-bedroom home and an addition to one of our rentals. Their work has been fantastic, and we can't speak highly enough of them. From their thorough and transparent communication to their honesty and quality of work, they have impressed us every step of the way. They handle everything from permitting to engineering and change orders with professionalism and efficiency. They have been one of the most punctual and timely teams we've worked with, and we highly recommend them. Additionally, they also offer services and worked on our septic old work, excavation redid our failing foundation on one of the rentals and building maintenance. If you're looking for a reliable contractor, look no further!

I want to personally recommend SQC for any remodeling projects you might have in mind. We've used them multiple times, and each time they've done an outstanding job! Their attention to detail and craftsmanship is truly top-notch.

Not only that, but we also rented equipment and trailers from them, and let me tell you, their communication is always on point! They keep you informed every step of the way, and they're always honest, transparent, and upfront about everything. It's really refreshing to work with a team that values open communication.

One thing that really stood out to us was their punctuality. They were always prompt and never kept us waiting. Plus, the end results were beyond our expectations! They truly know how to build beautiful homes, and their kitchen renovations are simply stunning.

If you're in need of an updated kitchen or a house built, we HIGHLY recommend giving SQC a call.

They were contracted through Lowe’s, Sam quoted us a reasonable price of 1,665.00 for a dishwasher installation (electrical and water) and a fridge water line hook up…

First issue was they didn’t let Lowe’s know the quote or that it was more services than what Lowe’s could provide… Lowe’s had no clue what was going on and SQC acted like they didn’t know either. Finally we figured out that we would have to pay SQC directly… and that was fine with us.

Next they said we had to go there(to the office) in person to pay the deposit and so that was a pain for my husband to find time to pay instead of just giving the info via phone, by the time he goes there- they tell him he could have called to pay with his card and that they cannot take his payment -_- (so we could have scheduled the service way sooner).

Thennnn, they schedule us, and re schedule us (because they triple booked themselves-not our fault), then reschedule us again… I really tried to be understanding since we had already paid the deposit.

Now… the whole process started at 8am where 3 workers showed up. They didn’t have all their supplies so they were waiting around a lot for Paul to bring the items (even though I called beforehand to confirm with Carrie that they were providing all the supplies so this wouldn’t happen and she assured me that they had everything)… next they wanted to install the electrical outlet where they decided to hack/carve through our log home wall instead of just drilling a hole and creating an outlet box on the side of the cabinet (would have taken less time! Mind you I could have done all this work myself but I just had a baby so the services were a gift from my husband so I wouldn’t have to do this) and then they forget more tools, they call my husband a million times while he is at work instead of speaking with me about what they are going to do, they change the quote to add more money (1,533.50 on top of the 1,665.00) and I’m about to throw up because the cost doubled!!!! But at this point it’s the afternoon and I just want them to be done because they have been there since 8… by the time they finish its 10pm- yes, 10pm!
They also shut the power off for my fridge for multiple hours and the items in my freezer melted, they knew their was food in there because I pointed it out. My husband turned it back on when he saw that.
All the prices above, did not include the installation fee for the dishwasher, so my husband just said he would do it since it was 10pm and we didn’t want to pay more to have it installed (yes this would have been on top of the $3,198.50 cost).

Now here is the great part, we get the bill the next day, and it’s EVEN MORE. I call Carrie and kindly ask for a better explanation of the invoice, she cuts me off while I’m talking-saying she will call me in 30 mins when she gets to the office… I say okay and wait… almost 4 hours later I decide to call again and she forwards me to voicemail partially on the 3rd ring, now I’m kind of pissed because we have already dealt with all of the above and I was at my breaking point. So 3 hours after I was forwarded to voicemail and left a voicemail with my name, Paul calls me and tries to explain why the bill is higher and he will “eat the extra charge” and this point I just said ok because I wanted the nightmare to be over… so in total we ended up paying $3,542.45 to have a 700 dollar dishwasher installed… not only were we taken advantage of with a new baby but disrespected.
Please for the love of god, do not use this LLC unless you want to be ripped off and charged an ungodly amount of money and then to be disrespected by the office staff.

I will say that the employees Ben(?) and the tall guy with the glasses were extremely nice though, they were very patient for how long they had to wait for Paul to bring the supplies and they did their best with what instructions they were given and they didn’t complain about it either even though their services could have been utilized better.

SQC contracting and all the men and women that I have interacted with that represent SQC are wonderful. Their work is high quality and they pay close attention to details, which I appreciate. They are very flexible and were able to put up with my design changes and additions professionally and with great kindness and enthusiasm. I would highly recommend them for any of you renovations, remodels, or new builds. They transformed our house into our dream home and we are so grateful!

Just finished doing our kitchen remodel with Sam and Carrie of SQC General Contractors. They were absolutely amazing and professional to work with. We interviewed three other contractors in the local area and were not impressed. We were so happy when we found Sam and Carrie. We would definitely recommend them for any remodels within the North Pole/Fairbanks area.
