Look no further you’ve found the company you’ve been looking for. The wheelchair ramp they build for me is solid as a rock and it actually fades into the building like it’s always been there. I truly thank you both for everything you’ve done for my family!!

Southern Maine Builders came to me rescue after my elderly mother recently fell and the doctor told us she’d be wheelchair bound for at least 3 months. I called them at 7:00am explaining my worries to them about getting her around and mostly to physical therapy. Within an hour Mario along with Rueben came by to do some measurements and drafted up some potential designs. They gave me three layouts for a wheelchair ramp and mentioned some other concerns that needed to be addressed which I didn’t even think about until they mentioned it. I knew how busy they were and it may take awhile, but they totally went above and beyond by rearranging their schedule while saying they did it “given the circumstances”

They came by early the following morning and started with the rain gutter and brush removal than instantly started building the ramp afterwards. To me that is what truly makes a company. If they only had a rating higher than 5 stars I’d definitely give it to them.

Mario was great, until after the first meeting and demo job. Mario was sub-contracted through our GC to pick up where our first contractor left off, doing Hardie-board siding and soffits.

He convinced us to redo the 40% of the siding that had already been done because.. it would be much better. I asked what that meant, and they talked about the gaps needing to be a little larger.

The work was slow, was never finished, and the quality was variable -- four different crews came out, and the gaps were from large to non-existent on the same side of the building. We had to pay a different company to redo the front-facing side at a size-able expense in labor and materials, but it looks much better now. On top of that, he didn't put flashing tape under the corner trim, despite my repeated requests, and apparently lied about having done it. At some point, the fourth crew just stopped showing up.

I tried to call him to work it out, but he wouldn't answer the phone. Once I hired a new crew, I had to hassle him to remove his staging from the job site. But the new crew was very professional and did impeccable work.

I was so happy when my email inquiry was responded to quickly and someone was at my house a couple days later to look at the space for our intended project. Photos of inside our house were taken, then were told (on a Tuesday) that we’d have an estimate by end of day Friday. I was shocked…and even more so after weeks and weeks went by with zero response. I called multiple times, left voicemails, sent emails and was 100% ignored. I wouldn’t have cared one bit if he’d told me a quote will take 2 months…I’m not in a rush but to just plain ignore me after being in my home is unprofessional. I wouldn’t want to work with them after this experience, I can’t imagine how the actual project would go. So glad I’ve found another company that is being open and honest about timelines, even if it’s going to take a year to accomplish the project.

Came to check out my house to provide a quote for siding. They said I would hear back with an estimate within a few days, but I never did. Followed up several times via phone and text but never got a response (except once to say the estimate was on its way- which I never got).

I contacted Southern Maine Builders for a roof replacement. The project was estimated the next day and the roof installed about a week later. I appreciated the promptness and the responsiveness of this company. Work was completed in a timely manner and I was kept informed of any issues and was sent photos, etc. of progress made. Very happy with
the workmanship and would highly recommend!

I have mixed feelings about this company as they completed quite a bit of work on a big project, and most of it was good, but I was told it would be completely finished and it never was. They made me pay for materials and labor that I never received, and gave a timeframe that wasn't met. I had to hire someone else to finish the project when I couldn't get in touch with the company after the last big check was written.

I recently had my roof replaced by Southern Maine Builders. After speaking with several companies, I opted to go with them and I am glad I did. The price was very competitive, Mario (the owner) answered all my questions and was very responsive. The crew did a fantastic job on my roof and clean up as well. I highly recommend this company - they are honest, professional, and do a wonderful job!

Southern Maine Builders were working on a new construction house across the street. We were wicked impressed by how quickly it was coming together. So when we decided to install new windows and replace our siding, we gave them a call. Their estimated cost was fair. (Cheapest of the 3 bids we received and they were able to begin work sooner than the other companies.) Their crew was respectful and efficient. They completed the job in a timely manner, in spite of lots of rainy work days. We love the new look of our home! Next time we need construction work, they will be our first call. Zero complaints or criticisms. Mario and the guys were great to work with. Thanks guys!

I couldn’t be more satisfied with the roofing job these guys did for me! They were very responsive and not to mention on the first day of the job I got up at 6AM for work and left by 7:15 and they had everything set up and started working immediately!
