Given the recent storms, I originally contacted my insurance company & started researching roofing companies. Joe provided an assessment, & concluded the job was too small to report a claim. He came through & took care of the quick fixes at my convenience. He was very thorough, and went above and beyond by confirming the crawl space didn’t have any damages. No other company did that, they just quoted a full replacement for a 10yr old roof or didn’t call back or show up at all! I really appreciated that given I was afraid of having my first major repair after my dad’s passing (yes, I’d consult him for all major repairs, regardless). Thanks again Joey!!

Dale was extremely responsive, knowledgeable, and fair when we had issues with a bathroom vent leaking water during storms. He was able to quickly identify a solution where other contractors did not.

Dale and Joe stopped on out to address a cut in the pipe boot. Dale made it a priority to take time out of his busy day, and take care of this cut. He patched it, assured me that it would keep out rain, and he was done with it quickly. Upon being on my roof, he noticed I was missing a piece of shingle. He took it upon himself to also address this, and filled me in on what he saw as he was on the roof regarding any future repairs, or if we need to address anything else. I was in building maintenance for many years. Used to know guys who did this, guys who did that. I'm running out of guys tho, as we all get older, retire, etc.

Didn't know a roofing guy anymore, and had a couple shingles blow off near the peak. Tried to get someone over. Handy-guys wanted a small fortune for this work. I caught Dale and one of his crews on a neighbor's roof, asked if he had a few minutes to have a look. He said he'd come over when finished.

When done with the neighbor, when he and his crew should have been having a well earned beer, he drove over with one of his guys, who took care of the missing shingles, replaced a bunch more around them, as well as the adjacent ridge caps.

When finished, I once again had a whole roof, even nominally color-matched to existing. Number of nails, staples, bits of shingle I had to clean up or found later in my garden: zero.

The maybe-half of what I would have had to pay the handy-guy was offered to Dale, 1/4 of that was returned as "that's too much."

He had his guy inspect the roof and go into the attic to look at the decking, and yeah, I need a roof. Don't have the coin for that right now, but when I do Smart will get the job.

I know a roof guy again. Shows up, does the work. This is what they do.

Dale & Joey were able to solve my roof leak caused by a squirrel & also addressed a loose siding panel. Although it was not a major roof repair, Dale was just as diligent, professional, expeditious, & extremely cost effective. Most importantly, they were so very friendly! Smart Roofing is the BEST!

The team who installed the roof was careful & respectful of our property, using magnets & vacuums to clean up any debris following the major yard cleanup. I was working in my yard and I happen to notice my ridge vent on my roof was missing a large section. Apparently a raccoon wanted to make residency in my attic! They were calling for rain the following day so I called Dale at Smart Roofing! He had two men there within two hours and they fixed my Problem. Had everything they needed With them, including Shingles and a large section of ridge vent. Service is awesome very professional. The price was way less than I anticipated! Dale spent much time with us ahead of time explaining the Smart Roofing way of doing things to make sure we understood and chose the best roofing for our home. My real name is Lor, and I cannot stress enough how extremely satisfied I am with the folks at Smart Roofing. About a week ago (4/06/2025), my roof sustained a noticeable leak from all the rain. I did my due diligence in searching for a reputable roofing company. I ultimately settled on Smart Roofing, and I am glad I did. As soon as I filled out their online contact form, Joey and Dale Jr showed up the next day to inspect my roof. They then gave me a very reasonable quote after they informed me of all the necessary repairs. Upon accepting their quote, I was informed that they would be able to work on my roof the upcoming Saturday (4/12/2025). Lo and behold, Dale Smart Sr, Dale Jr, Joey, and the rest of the crew showed up on Saturday morning and finished the job by 5 PM; all while operating on the good faith that I will pay them. THEY DIDN'T EVEN NEED A SECURITY DEPOSIT. This is the work that they did: replaced some insulation/roof decking, reinforced some rafters, laid new shingles, installed new fascia, and correctly installed the apron on the rain gutter that is attached to my garage. They were all professional in their conduct, meticulous in their work, and conscientious enough to avoid damaging the landscaping. Now I have a new roof that will last me at least 20 years (hoping for 50 years). Needless to say I believe they have a 5-star aggregate score for a reason. I intend on encouraging everyone I know to go through Smart Roofing for their roofing needs.

We had an excellent experience with Dale from Smart Roofing. Came out to the house and spent a lot of time measuring and listening to our concerns. Provided a prompt proposal which was more competitive with better materials than the competitors proposals. In addition to the roof and gutters, we wanted a solar tube, and needed extensive work on a sunroom. Unexpected warm days in January and the guys came out and completed all the work. Dale was there every day with the guys, they worked efficiently, and cleaned everything up. Highly recommend.

We had Smart Roofing replace the roofing shingles on our home due to hail damage. We really wanted to work with a local contractor with a good reputation.
We were very pleased with Smart Roofing - Dale and Joe came to inspect and verify the damage, and then Dale came back when the insurance adjuster was here to point out all that needed to be done. We worked directly with Dale to define what we wanted done and that it was important to us to be careful not to damage our landscaping and patios and have a thorough cleanup when they were done.
We were very satisfied with their work - they had an efficient crew and supervision on site for the entire job. Complete work took only one and one half days - including installation of new gutter guards to replace original hail damaged ones. Cleanup was great with no damage to landscaping.

Dale and his team worked hard to get my roof done on time and as promised. His willingness to "get the job done" instead of endless talk was a great asset. The fact that the owner of the business was on-site and working while the roof work was being done is a testament to the seriousness with which Dale takes his profession. My neighborhood was hit by a storm and I've seen many roofs being replaced over the months since. Most of the companies seem to have an owner/marketing team and then a separate crew to do the actual work. By the time the job is being worked, the owners are elsewhere and nowhere to be seen. Not the case with Smart Roofing.

For my project, Dale came in part of the way through dealing with the insurance company. He did a great job helping me understand the process and the "industry" in a way that made sense (relative to the nonsensical nature of the insurance industry) and guiding my through the "last half" of the process.

Taking into account the frenetic nature of the roofing trade, Dale at Smart Roofing did a good job communicating and answering questions with patience and diligence. His "hands-on" approach means he has a lot going on at any given time but somehow, he makes everything work.

Dale, Joey and the crew are amazing! We have a cape cod with a very steep roof and a total of 5 dormers. We have a 2 car attached garage and a single car garage along with a yanky chimney that was a plain to work with. The guys were total professionals and spent a lot of time setting up ( protecting house and shrubs) and cleaning up after themselves! No huge dumpster to deal with as they had machinery to grind up and recycle old shingles. Less than 2 and a half days and we had a beautiful new roof!

My first contact with Dale Smart came about a year and a half before I thought I needed a roof. I had a random roof leak that would come and go that was driving me nuts for quite a few years. I randomly called (Smart Roofing) to see if they had any ideas on how I might find this leak. To my surprise, Dale showed up at my house a few hours later. My initial thought was that he was going to try and sell me a roof, but he didn’t. He actually found what we thought was causing the leak and did a small repair without asking for any money. The roof didn’t leak for about 1 1/2 years, when a new leak appeared out of nowhere. Once again I called Smart roofing. They got back to me promptly even when they were very swamped with other roofing jobs. Of the 3 contractors I called they had the most reasonable price. Then to make things better they got me in about a month sooner than I had originally planned. The crew came in and did the job from start to finish in 1 day including a very thorough clean up. I would highly recommend this company for your roofing needs.

Only wish there were more stars to give them. These people know what they are doing. I have used them four times now.

Most recently, we had a leak in our three-seasons room. The original owner that we bought the house from told us it leaked since day one, years before. It took Dale less than five minutes on the roof to identify that the wrong skylights had been used and they were also installed incorrectly. They ordered the correct skylights and put on a new membrane roof. The room is now dry.

They were timely, friendly and left the site neat and clean. All at a very fair price. They are the only people that I will ever leave on my roof.

My older home had some challenges and Dale came onsite and spent an hour and a half working through a plan to address my needs and explained options along the way ( I had other estimates and nobody else focused on getting to the bottom of the problem). I decided to get a quote from Dale at Smart Roofing because his uncle installed a high quality roof for my family many years ago. Of the three quotes I received, I decided to have Smart Roofing replace my shingles since Dale was the only contractor who took the time to personally inspect my roof and attic. Although he was slightly more expensive, I felt the additional cost was justified since Dale was very knowledgeable about shingle replacement, thoroughly explaining the methods he uses and why, he found the problems and offered cost effective solutions for the problems I was unaware of. Dale recommended that I install Certainteed Northgate class 4 shingles which qualifies me for a $90.00 yearly deduction in the cost of my homeowner's insurance. Dale and his crew arrived on time. He took the time to answer my questions during the removable and installation process. Dale and his crew completed my house and shed roof replacement in one day. His crew did an excellent job cleaning up. I highly recommend Dale and his company.

My experience with Smart Roofing was fantastic. From the salesman, Tom that spent a lot of time with me, to the owner Dale, who's professionalism and attention to detail was amazing. Smart roofing did our roof in 2003. We had a great experience then. Fast forward to 2024. We had to have some gutter repair work done. The response was quick and courteous. We had storm damage due to snow. These guys were quick to answer during a busy time. Not only were they quick and responsive they were so knowledgeable in their craft. I couldn't be more pleased with the service from Dale Smart. I called him bcs we developed a leak in the roof due to ice damning in this WI weather. He responded to my call same day, then came out in the evening to assess situation and had advice for us on how to handle the problem. Dale was kind and extremely patient with our concern, giving us time to answer all of our questions. He then came out the next day with his crew to remove snow off the roof, giving the problem area special attention. He will be back once snow is gone to fix the leak. We could not be more pleased with the care and expertise with which he handled the problem.

My only suggestion is to make sure to get whatever receipts and/or paperwork you need before they leave. I really needed an invoice for my home owners insurance, which I was assured I would be emailed. However, I have still not received one after a couple weeks, even after emailing a reminder about it. Luckily was able to work it out with insurance to prove work was completed. It worked out in the end so I don't hold it against them. I know they are crazy busy!

Although the other roofing contractors were slightly less expensive, we were willing to pay extra because Dale Smart would work with his customers. It was definitely worth the investment. We had many shingles throughout the roof that had blown off during high winds. Dale came out to inspect and give an estimate on the roof. Following the inspection, he offered to caulk all the exposed nail holes in the cold of winter without charge although we didn't sign a contract with him yet. That is customer service! In addition, he worked with our insurance to try to get the best reimbursement. Most importantly, Dale worked tirelessly with his crew on the job throughout the entire roof replacement to get the job done on time. Dale and his crew are so incredibly hardworking that they worked on the weekend and in unexpected rain. During the entire process, Dale was in constant communication with us, was very professional, came everyday on time, and worked with us to make everything right. At the end of the job, Dale even took the time to seal some leaky gutters, caulked exposed areas of wood on the soffit, and adjusted a few gutters at no additional cost. Our new roof looks amazing and we highly recommend Smart Roofing!

Smart Roofing was able to come out right away to access my roof issues and determine a fix. A few days later they were back and the completed the roof repairs within a couple hours
