Recently had my roof replaced by Slate & Slate. From start to finish they did exactly what they said they’d do. Roof looks great. The crew was wonderful & when I had a question, they stopped & explained what they were doing. Beautiful job!!! Highly recommend!!! Thank you!!
In short - Slate and Slate is one of the only construction companies I have found that cares about getting the work done RIGHT (not just fast).
In long - We bought our current house knowing it needed a new roof in the next couple years. We took about a year to shop around and get bids for the roof. Slate and Slate was the highest bid we got - coming in about ~20% higher than the other bids. We debated over the options. Ultimately we decided to take a risk on the higher price because;
1) slate and slate focused more on one job at a time and was willing to work with some of our special requests (like interacting with the chimney work we wanted done at the same time and helping switch out our skylights),
2) they really knew the materials and installation methods they were using and why they choose them, and most of the extra cost was due to the extra materials / care, and
3) of everyone we got a bid from, they had the longest warranty on their work and product.
We locked in the work and crossed our fingers, it was an unknown risk at a higher price at the time.
In hindsight I wouldn't hesitate a beat to have slate and slate help us on our next big house project - I wish they did more than roofs.
The product and work they delivered has a value far greater than the price they charge. I was up on the roof every night looking over the status as the work was done. The workmanship was flawless, the materials the highest quality. No corners cut - in fact they went out of their way to buy additional material to ensure it was right, not just what was agreed to.
Little details were added that I wan't even expecting. They shortened up the distances that the bathroom vents had to travel, the roof vents that they used to vent the bathroom fans are higher end and won't flap-flap-flap all night when the wind hits them. The flashing is installed seamless and clean - it's the best looking roof - I love looking at.
Anyway - that's the long. If you have a roofing project coming up, and you want someone that's going to care about how this roof is going to protect you for decades to come - and not just about getting the work done and paid - higher slate and slate. The price might come in a little higher - but I think you will be very happy with the end result.
