Joe Shook has been my go to roofer for several years now. I love the fact that I can trust him implicitly. I have found over the years that:
Joe is extremely professional;
keeps in touch once you contact him;
lets you know when he can put your roof on his list of current responsibilities;
comes when he says he'll come;
takes pictures showing you exactly what the problem is with your roof;
writes a proposal telling you what he's going to do;
how much the repair will cost and how long it will take;
frequently takes pictures afterwards to show you what he did;
tells you exactly what materials he used and why he used them;
and cleans up after himself.
If the problem recurs, he comes back. All this and he's pleasant to deal with too. Getting a roof fixed is risky, a roofer can tell you anything and you have no way to verify the problem, the fix, or the price. But with Joe, you can have trust that he is doing exactly what is needed, for a fair price, and if it doesn't work, he comes back.
I have recommended Mr Shook to a number of people, and have recommended him on the NEXTDOOR site, and highly recommend him to anyone looking for a roofer.
I do want to put my recommendation in context, I am a 76 year old woman, living by myself now, and have trouble trusting repair people since they seem to consider me an easy mark. I have never had any doubt that Mr Shook is beyond honest and will continue to recommend him highly.

I highly recommend Shook roofing. We received an estimate promptly, agreed to it and the work was completed within a short period of time. I think the best part was that Pictures were shown to us of the needed repairs. The service was excellent.

Joe is knowledgeable and experienced. I called him to repair 2 problematic roofs that other roofers failed to fix. He responded immediately, located the problem, and repaired the roof accurately. No more leaks! I would highly recommend him.

I contacted Shook Roofing recently for a leaking roof near the chimney of my house. Mr. Shook came out the same day I contacted him, inspected the roof and showed me pictures of where the chimney and cap needed to be repaired. He provided me a written job order, indicating step-by-step how the repair would be done as well as when he would be available. I was very happy when Mr. Shook called me a few days later indicating he could do the job earlier. He arrived promptly, performed the work, cleaned up everything and even power washed my railings while waiting for the chimney cap to dry. I would definitely recommend Shook Roofing.

Joe Shook repaired my leak on the roof. He guaranteed the labor and the product for 5 to 10 years. The roof leaked at the exact spot within 2 years. Joe was notified and did not return my phone calls. When I finally reached him he refused to honor the written agreement.
Would never recommend him. The roofer who did repair the leak stated Joe used the wrong products and I may now need a new roof!

It's rare that I take the time to rate a contractor, but I felt I needed to do so with Shook Roofing. Mr Shook responded to my voicemail within the hour, showed up on time, provided me with a written estimate, after taking the time to climb on the roof and show me exactly where the issue was in the first place, confirmed his appointment the day before, showed up on time, completed the job in the anticipated time frame, showed me pictures of the completed project and provided me with a written guarantee. We could not be more happy with Shook Roofing and would HIGHLY recommend them to anyone seeking an affordable, dependable and reliable roofing company.

Joe was prompt and fixed the problem on my roof, All I knew is that the Shook name has been around Pittsburgh for a long time in the roofing business. He was prompt, and apparently made a good repair. the leak has stopped.
