Found a really good builder.

We are in the middle of our build and I wanted to post a review now, in case anyone is looking for a builder, like we were last summer. I'm so glad we chose Sherco. A new neighbor recommended them based on their own recent experience and we are so happy with our choice. We chose them because they have almost 30 years of experience, and our friend reported that all of their subcontractors have worked with them for many years (so they show up and stay on schedule). After interviewing other builders, we could tell we'd found the real deal: quality, value and timeliness.

We have a calendar for the build for the next 3 months and so far everything has been done well and on time. All of their vendors (countertops, cabinets, plumbing fixtures, flooring/tile, exterior stone) and the subcontractors we've met (cement installers, carpenter, electrician) have been professional, knowledgeable and helpful.

Bonus: the Sherco staff are really nice people. They care a lot about making sure you understand everything about the process and provide consultative guidance initially and as you move along in the process. I'll post again after the build is done later this summer. So far, so great!

Update: we are all moved in and happy. We found one small thicker paint droplet on a cabinet door that they are sanding and redoing. The home is quiet, solid and well crafted. We feel very fortunate that we took a new neighbor’s recommendation to hire Sherco. They aren’t flashy, they don’t spend money on trying to impress you with fancy offices or slick-style marketing. Their homes are solidly built and their longevity, with years of experiences (in sometimes challenging times), is proof they are ‘the real deal’. I’m recommending them to everyone who asks me about our new home.

We had an issue with a mound in our backyard and Tom and his team were responsive and fixed the issue in timely manner! They care about their customers and will go out of their way to resolve issues!

We are extremely frustrated with Sherco. Only being in our home for 1 year and 5 months and we have noticed after some settling that they never painted behind the trim. We can visibly see behind the trim where the walls are white. To fix this many places will have to remove the trim, sand it down and repaint. A whole bunch of work we (the homeowners) should NOT have to do for what we paid for this home. We did reach out to Sherco, but they refuse to cover this and fix it.. stating "its a better finished product." Unfortunately, this isn't the first problem we have had come about. After meeting our neighbors who have homes built by Sherco as well they are known for having poor quality and have had to fight to get things fixed. This all could have been avoided if they just painted the whole wall the first go around. I do not recommend Sherco if you are looking to build.

We had a great experience. Our septic was in need to be replaced immediately. We called on Tom and the very same day he was putting a plan together Within 10 days we had a septic system and deep well. WOW!!

Builder was more concerned about getting his model homes built for the parade of homes then getting our house built in the time they promised. So in the last 4 days before the completion date every subcontractor was frantically pushing to finish their part to complete our house. Since completion we have had 1 problem after another all due to poor workmanship. STEER CLEAR OF THIS BUILDER!!!!! Having spoken to other people in our development it sounds like many others have had issues with Sherco. I'm wondering how it is possible this co. Has gotten a 4 star rating???

We have toured many of the Sherco Model homes in the past few years. The craftsmanship, the quality of materials, and the mechanicals are all exceptional! It was clear to us that they take a lot of pride in their homes.

Although we are not ready for a new custom home, we did have Sherco take care of our home when it was damaged due to a hail & wind storm. They worked with our insurance company and replaced the roofs and the front siding on both our home and detached garage. They were very attentive and got the job done in a timely matter, and again the quality truly shows; what a difference a new roof can make! When were ready for our remodeling plans, we know who we will call!
