Bill Carr went above and beyond searching for a vehicle for me. Even though he is not a salesman but the sales manager, he spent several days searching for a hard to find highlander. He kept me informed throughout the process.And when the first one fell through , he continued to search with success. He is always polite and asks questions and follows through.

'Hospitality' a word the team should investigate - specifically the lady that answers the phone in service. Made me feel like a number. I've moved on from this location. Too bad as the people that do the work behind the service desk are good people; hence the 3 stars instead of 1.

This is a hard review to write as I've purchased vehicles from Shepherd Toyota and family members, but the once high standard and integrity is no more! My Vehicle was dropped off with 63,144 miles then after the weekend it was picked up with 63, 802 miles and with a nice dent in the side of the Lexus Es 300 and scratches down the side! Upon confronting Shepherd Toyota instant deflection started, " there was no possible way ect" then I showed them their own paperwork with the mileage printed on their own service receipt! They went a step further with deflection and had the audacity to tell me that the service personnel wrote the mileage own wrong!!! I pushed the issue and only asked that the scratches and dent be fixed and that if I needed a vehicle that I be granted one the be made whole on the mileage that was put on my vehicle, the service manager graciously agreed. I dropped my car off and they took care of my scratches but not the dent! I decided not to push the issue as I had great respect for Barry whom is now retired ( here in lies the problem) and decided not to push for the dent removal. A few weeks later I reached out to the service manager Dave and requested the loaner car that he had promised me to resolve the outstanding issue and to put it behind us. He said I could have the loaner at his discount of $50 per day!! I reminded him of our agreement and he didn't care, his response was take it or leave it!! I have this all in text message and I have kept the service receipts and my next stop is to small claims court! I have a current quote to fix the dent and the scratches that they missed and it exceeds 1500! Not to mention the 750 miles that they took my car and property for a joy ride over the weekend!! I'm extremely dissing in the lack of customer service and respect of the new management at Shepherd Toyota!! Buyers beware as this is the treatment you will receive if you do business with this establishment!!

I recently visited Shepard Toyota in Rockland, Me. I was interested in purchasing a vehicle for my son and was directed to salesman James Bacon-DeWalt. I provided James with my budget and expectations for purchasing the Toyota 4Runner. James, with his straightforward, transparent, and upfront approach, added a personal touch to our negotiations. His affable personality and professional conduct throughout our discussions made me feel valued as a customer. It was James who convinced me to have my son drive off the lot with the 4Runner. He went above and beyond to have the car detailed, washed, and look like a 2025 vehicle. I highly recommend James to anyone in the Midcoast area looking to purchase a new or used vehicle. I bought my brand new 2024 Highlander from them, within a year later I am leaking washer fluid everywhere so I took it into Charlies Toyota and they said something/someone had chewed or cut through a washer line along underside of vehicle and someone tried to put yellow tape to cover/seal it. They never told me this or properly fixed it before selling it to me, so now I am out 200$ for a simple issue that they clearly knew about.

We brought our 2008 Toyota Tundra here to get an inspection sticker and they said that we needed to replace the break lines, the front brake pads, and put some new flanges and muffler on it. They wanted $5000 for all of that, and didn't even check the parking break that we found earlier today does not work! We also noticed that there was nothing wrong with the break lines, and the front breaks aren't even worn halfway. We had already bought the parts for the brakes, and luckily it was only $350, but it is safe to say that we probably won't be coming back anytime soon :(

We called ahead to look at a used truck, Mack took the call and we made an appointment. Mack had the truck ready to test drive when we arrived. Ultimately, the truck wasn't what we wanted, Mack listened to our needs and showed us a few new trucks. We really liked one of them! The dealership was able to get us a fair trade in value and the finance team put together a great package. Mack stayed well past closing to help us get aquatinted with all the bells and whistles. Toyota does not build custom vehicles, but Armando was happy to work with me to find a build that had the specifications I wanted and have it ordered and delivered to the dealership for me. I got exactly the trim, color, and engine I wanted and Armando was happy to answer all of my question on the journey from build to delivery.

We visited to buy a new hybrid car listed on the site. The car was not on site and dealers stated that they are aware that the website inventory has been incorrect for over a year. They claimed to have updated the website this morning, and that their website takes 24 hours to update. We left after that nonsense and being offered options for used non-hybrid or to wait months for a new hybrid.

Would not recommend.

I am extremely disappointed with the service I received from Shepard Toyota. Last year, due to their negligence in improperly tightening the lug nuts, my front driver-side wheel came off while I was traveling at 50 mph. Although they repaired the driver side, they neglected to inspect the passenger side for damage caused by the incident.

Recently, after purchasing new tires, I discovered rapid and abnormal wear. I brought the vehicle to two separate garages for an evaluation, and their alignment checks revealed that the passenger side lower control arm, adjustable camber bolts, and locking tabs all needed replacement because of the incident. I explained this to Shepard Toyota, who took my vehicle in for an evaluation. The dealership refused to cover the cost of these repairs, claiming that the alignment was fine when it left them last year and that the bolt was "seized" due to age and wear. Coincidentally, a coworker with a 2017 Tacoma TRD Pro, which has 70,000 more miles than my vehicle, has never experienced this problem.

Their refusal to correct the issue caused by their initial negligence is both frustrating and unprofessional. I strongly advise against using Shepard Toyota for any service or repairs.

I had a warning light suddenly appear on the dashboard of my Audi convertible. They clearly explained all the warranty plans and warranty options at the time of purchase. I wondered if all the warranties were needed at the time and am now thankful I decided to purchase the warranty plans.
So, I drove into Shepards and before I knew it I was in a rental, service had addressed the issue and was fairly major. They told me not to worry about a thing and they would tell me when the work was completed. They took care of everything and called when the work was completed! The process was seamless and without worry. A++ to all at Shepards and Thank you!!

This place was a breath of fresh air for me as car dealerships in this area go. I received help almost immediately and the salesman (Armando) was able to locate the exact vehicle I wanted - a 2024, gas-powered RAV4. Once we found the correct vehicle the financing process was smooth, to the point, and conducted in a warm, friendly manner by both Armando and Bill Jr.

In around 2.5 hours I had shown up, traded in my old vehicle, financed my '24 Rav4, and driven off in it with a GREAT (better than great) interest rate and monthly payment.

I would rate this place and the salespeople - especially Armando and Bill Jr. - 10 out of 10 and I'm glad my name and number is in the Shepard system.

In the past two weeks we have had questions regarding our two Toyota cars.
The older one showed off & on warning lights on the dash which indicated possible brake problem. It was not immediately evident what the problem was but they did take our car immediately and gave me a loaner. The problem was detected and solved.
Our other car was recently purchased. We had some questions on various operations with this car. Frank immediately came out and we sat in the car together while we went over our questions…extremely helpful!

I called Shepard to have the driver side window repaired. The folks at the service desk were very courteous and let me drop the car off the following day. After several hours at the shop a service person called me with what sounded like a laundry list of additional and in my view, questionable repairs. He said I needed an oil change to replace a worn drain plug gasket, that the the dashboard and exterior front cowling need to be taken apart to clear the ventilation system of debris. These add-ons were at considerable additional cost. I had just changed the oil and there has never been any discernable oil spots on my driveway. I replaced the cabin air filter and removed what appeared to be some nesting debris from a mouse that accumulated by the filter. The defroster and ventilation system worked/works as it should. My take away from this experience was to be careful of the dealer who tried to goose my repair bill.

They didn’t answer my calls and delayed service for weeks. After checking it out they said the car wasn’t worth fixing. Got it fixed under warranty with a third party and works fine now. Would not recommend the service department as they are impossible to reach on the phone and unhelpful.

My truck went in for its 15k service and an inspection sticker. Truck wouldn’t pass state inspection due to abnormal wear to the passenger front tire. When I looked at the rear tire on the same side it was also worn in the same spot as the front tire, not as bad but clearly worn. At 10k my tires were rotated. Therefore that means at the 10k service there was a problem with my alignment. The rear tire wouldn’t have worn the same way for no reason. They even acknowledged that I was making an accurate statement, but due to no “record of abnormal wear” at 10k they would not abide by the 12k alignment warranty.
For my troubles I was offered a special they were running the previous month of buy 3 tires get one for free. They didn’t charge me labor the three days it was there. But they did put different tires on the truck than it originally came off the lot with, more expensive ones without my permission to buy different tires. On top of all of that when I left the dealership last night in the dark, I didn’t notice until this morning, they didn’t even sticker my truck, which was what it was in there for. The service department is a total joke. I was told that the workers are very meticulous and a mistake of wear like that wouldn’t be overlooked, then I leave the lot without an inspection sticker.

Service people are rude, the lobby and waiting area are awkward, smelly, and super uncomfortable. The place is run down and needs work. Really, the main reason is the manager. While waiting, we watched him come out and berate an old couple and try to coerce them into buying a brand new car they can't afford. They could afford $x per month, he was insistent that 2x their price is still fine and they can afford it. These people are on SS and fixed income. What the hell are you doing? Shady practices from toyota and the worst dealer I've been to thru them. The service dept also tried to tack on a $90 charge for tire rotation that i didnt ask for and didnt need (just got new tires and TOLD THEM I DIDNT NEED ANYTHING EXCEPT A PRESSURE CHECK. THEY EFFED THAT UP TOO.) Corporate needs to take a look at this location for sure.

I had some work done by them. I had a new rim a whole new set of tires. But they couldn’t properly install air valve on the rim properly and ended up ruining my one new tire and more money to get a replacement tire. Would not go back their again.

My wife and I had been discussing purchasing a truck but like most dreaded the thought of going and looking ... in the past it seemed no matter what you were guaranteed to loose a whole day to complete the process. We came across this truck listed on Shepard Toyota website and it seemed to check all the boxes for what we were looking for so we took the plunge and reached out to talk about buying the truck. I have to say this was the fastest and simplest vehicle purchase we have ever made. Corey was great, he kept in touch every step of the way and Bill was there to wrap the deal up for us ... they took care of the paperwork with our lender, they gave us the trade in amount we were looking to get and the final numbers were right where we wanted to be for the total purchase and monthly payment. They contacted us and we went to our lender and then to Shepard and all we had to do was sign the paperwork ... the whole process took a few hour(s) in total from start to finish on our part. We got the truck home and a few day(s) after having it the battery died, I reached out to Bill and Corey and they told me "no worries" they sent out a tow truck and had it hauled back to the dealership and a new battery was put in and a diagnostic scan was done to make sure there was no other problems and we were back up and running in a day. If you see something on their lot I would recommend going in and talking with Bill and Corey or any of the other members of the team ... I know if the need for another vehicle pops up we'll go there first!

Not too bad of a place... I have a Tundra that had the frame recall, they replaced my frame and other things they noticed along the way at cost... no issues there...Just recently took my truck there for some maintenance... they found more things along the way, the bill was up there... but its a dealership you gotta expect to pay big there. But even so they gave me a pretty good discount... they took care of me pretty good there...So I'm not even mad at that... Once they completed the work they took it for a test drive to be sure everything was up to spec, and hit a deer with it lol... pretty good place though

I've never had an issue with a Toyota dealership before, but this dealership has issues. I scheduled an appointment to have a mirror replaced and they had 3 weeks to order the part. Even though the service advisor and I both made it very clear to the parts department the exact part I needed, they ordered the wrong one. After 3 1/2 hours at the dealership on my appointment day, I left with no mirror, but a new error code about the mirror that they said they couldn't clear. And an additional bonus, they reduced the tire pressure in all 4 tires so I had a low-pressure warning on too and had to add air myself. A very frustrating day and no one seemed to care what an imposition it was spend half a day to walk away worse off than you arrived.

Bought a used vehicle at the beginning of March this year. Would have to say that I find it pretty sad when you pay 30 thousand+ for a used vehicle, only to get it home and find out it was basically spit shined and sent out the door. Found moldy pretzels under the front seat, along with packets from a chinese restaurant that were god knows how old. Backseat had something in the seatbelts folds that was either crusted up dog puke or mac n cheese,possibly both.Then went to use air conditioner,empty! Had to already have it serviced and gone over! Mentioned to my mechanic an odd noise, pulley or water pump! Makes me truly wonder if it was ever checked over by the service dept, at all! Typical used car salesman.I should have done my due diligence and tried everything the first day I brought it home! Felt like I could trust them, know better now!

The general manager took time and stopped by to introduce himself, also other associates were pleasant and genuine while talking to you while you waited....a true family feel. I have worked at six different dealerships and purchased at probably 20....this was the best experience HANDS DOWN!

Absolutely terrible service. Paid $2500 for service I was told was complete only to find my engine plate in the back seat and my tire light on. When questioned Robert in service said a part had to be ordered. I had to notify the President of Shepard Toyota to get my car back after two weeks of calls. Crazy runaround, no one answering the phone,different story every day, ridiculous. Will never go back
