Tom and the team at Evergreen guided me through the whole process, from identifying the correct solution to providing a clear and concise proposal, which included working with us to optimize available rebates. Red and her crew were prompt and on time each day, leaving no trace. They had been in the house as they worked to complete the installation. We came home on the last date and noticed improvements in the heating of our home immediately. Excellent work from a fantastic team.

We could not have had a better experience working with Evergreen Home Performance specifically under the guidance of Chris Kessler and the crew project managed by Red. All aspects of the work were well communicated and executed with precision. Chris took the time to fully explain the “why’s” of the scope of work they were doing and even went the extra mile to point out some DIY improvements we could do ourselves to further the impact of the job. Red was a wonderful communicator each day the crew was at our home and always left the house cleaner than when they had entered. Tom was fantastic, super thorough in explaining and walking me through everything. Really educated me on how heat loss and gain occurs in a home throughout the year. Showed up with an infrared camera and showed how the insulation in certain parts of my home were ineffective, he was the only company I contacted that did that. Came up with a plan, with which I was very happy, to upgrade my attic insulation. He was able to come down a bit on price when I showed him some other quotes I got.

Install team was super professional and nice. Did the work well, on time, and did not leave a mess. Would recommend Evergreen to everyone

Working with Evergreen was great. Chris came out for an energy audit, gave us lots of good insight on things we could do, listened to our concerns, and put together a thoughtful proposal. The crew came out over a couple of days and did a fantastic job with the installation, always leaving the work areas spotless at the end of the day.

Our basement has never been so insulated! Chris was very knowledgeable and helpful. He also found a propane leak during his pre-inspection, which is kind of a big deal.

I've only just had my initial review of my home's condition and consultation with Evergreen's Chris Kessler but I'm thoroughly impressed with the knowledge, expertise and professionalism I've experienced so far. Chris spent alot of time not only examining my home from top to bottom but also answering and explaining my many questions and concerns. I feel completely confident that when it comes to having the work I need done, Evergreen will be the competent and honest company to work with.

Evergreen recently wrapped up an encapsulation and insulation at our house, and I could not be happier with the process. From initial calls and the home visit and estimate, to the work process that completely respected our home life, it was very nice doing business with Evergreen. Great work, too. And the process of billing and helping with State rebates was top notch. Very professional. I highly recommend them.

UPDATE SINCE BELOW: Had another company come quote the work today and they laughed at my experience below. Gave me a price 1/4 of this company and are happy to do the work, big or small.

Rough experience, despite the positive reviews.

Asked them to quote the replacement of batten insulation from water / storm damage during my initial call. They arrived and I asked them to give me (2) quotes; one for the insulation replacement and another for any efficiency improvements. After receiving a quote for $11K for just insulation work in an attic on a one story ranch, I asked for the cost of just the replacement batten (which was why I originally called) and they recommended I find a contractor to take on a "small 1/2 day project of that size." Wow. The kings of Maine insulation right here! If you don't want to spend $10K, forget about it, they're too busy.

Just finished my experience with Evergreen and I really couldn't be more impressed. Bruce was awesome, incredibly helpful and informative, not to mention a really nice guy. Bruce taught me a lot about my house and how to keep the heat in. After making an initial plan, Bruce went over numerous options with me, including DIY options to do before the installation to save me money. He e-mailed me a number of different options, all different prices with differing amount of work I could do on my time, this was amazing. I never felt like I was being sold into something I didn't want, Bruce clearly just wanted to help me insulate my home in a way that made sense and worked for me. He was quick to respond and made numerous revisions for me until I landed on an option that felt the best. I also got to work a little with Bryan who was also incredibly helpful. Very quick to answer clearly and honestly, his guidance gave me a lot of confidence moving forward. Finally, the installers were all really nice guys, it was obvious that they care about their work and have great work ethic. The spray foam in my basement is clean and concise, hitting all the places where cold could come in. Great attention to detail. The new hatch for my attic was very well made, and the insulation up there was installed better than I anticipated. My hats off to the crew, their job is not easy, but they do it very well. I would absolutely suggest anyone choose Evergreen if they want to improve the quality and comfort of their house. I couldn't be happier with my experience. My house is so much more comfortable this December as opposed to last! I'm very happy. If I need more work in the future, I will call Evergreen. Thank you.

Just wanted to share our experience with Evergreen. We have a condo that certainly needed some work to make more heat efficient. Our initial visit with Chris was great. He did a thorough job of evaluating the trouble areas and providing possible solutions to improve the efficiency. He spent lots of time answering all our questions. When we had the walk through with Chris and Bryan, again they answered all our questions and even identified other areas that could be improved on. While waiting for the work to be done, Andrea in the office was a huge help to getting the approval from Efficiency Maine. This week we had the work done. You know how you always dread having strangers in your house ripping it apart and all the equipment and everything? Well our Evergreen team (Red, Alice, and Terry) were actually wonderful. I can't praise them enough. They were professional and friendly. They arrived when they said they would. They worked efficiently and neatly. They even tolerated our cat who does not understand personal boundaries. When they left, everything was clean and in it's place. Their work ethic was awesome.

I could gush about our experience with Evergreen all day! They were truly one of the most trustworthy, integrity filled and experienced contractors we've had the pleasure of working with. And it was clear, each step of the way that they wanted to do the project correctly, and went above and beyond at every turn. I cannot recommend them enough.

We live in a small cape and had to insulate our attic, basement and back addition. During our assessment, Brian took time with us, and walked us through every piece of the process, doing thorough tests of what needed to be done and happily answering all of our questions. He also sent over a detailed quote outlining every piece of the project, which helped us understand exactly what was meant to happen and what we'd be paying for.

Roland and his crew did our full insulation in a little over a week. His team kept our house incredibly clean which was amazing given the scope of the project, they were very communicative about any updates or changes and were lovely to work with. At one point, we needed one small thing in our attic to be tweaked, and they made the change right away with no trouble!

A month after the project was complete, Evergreen called us up to schedule one final test to make sure the insulation was working in the house as it should. Chris came by, and again, even after the project was finished, took time to do some finishing tests and to walk us through the results to ensure the project was completed effectively. 10 out of 5 stars! Thank you to everyone -Brian, Roland and crew, Aaron, and Chris. You all were absolutely incredible to work with, and we're so grateful for all the work you put in to make this project so smooth.

We hired Evergreen to insulate our cellar and resolve a persistent dampness problem. We could not be more satisfied with the results or the team of 3-5 men who showed up consistently for seven days. The technicians were thorough, thoughtful, careful and technically competent. They cleaned up after themselves every day and left the overall site much improved. We were happy to have the Evergreen team in our home every day they were here. Great work and great workers!

We found Evergreen online, and are very happy that we did. The team was courteous, and friendly, in a genuine way. And they kept the house very clean, including meticulously installing and dismantling barriers for dust control, every morning and evening. We felt in good hands the whole way through. The attic looks like it's been sealed up by NASA now (not kidding). Towards the end of the job, there were some details that had to be dealt with unexpectedly. Brian came through with some ideas, and put in extra time to try to resolve things. And Chris Kessler was exceptional. He first came to create an estimate, and was very knowledgable and thorough. Further, he payed close attention to the legal/administrative end of things, and was able to ensure that Efficiency Maine contributed a very substantial sum to the project cost. All in all, I’m extremely happy with Evergreen, and would not hesitate to call upon them again. Highly recommended.

Evergreen was a delight to work with. Professional, on time, and very pleasant to have working in our home. They removed and installed almost 20 new windows. Not only did they do a great job installing the windows, but they also did an excellent job repairing the wood framework around windows as well. We will definitely work with them again.

From "soup to nuts" Evergreen Home Performance delivered on exceeding my expectations. They were well organized and professional. Communication was timely, thorough and thoughtful. We live in a 100 year old house. I got three different quotes for this insulation project and while theirs was not the most affordable, their approach and consideration of what I was trying to accomplish was far and away the most impressive and relevant. They really seemed to care about our situation. They took their time in evaluating the scenario and made a solution oriented recommendation that we adopted. On-site during install they could not have been more polite or professional. They also took enormous efforts to keep the house clean and neat at all times. We were impressed across the board. Most importantly, all that new insulation is paying off. The results were IMMEDIATELY tangible. Our house is warmer, the boiler isn't having to work as hard, the snow doesn't melt off the roof anymore and our oil usage is dropping. Don't hesitate to hire them.

The salesmen and installers were very professional, informative, and easy to work with. An issue arose after installation review and the installer was very quick to find a solution. I have recommended the team to my neighbors and already at least one has a quote.

The Evergreen Home Performance team is top-notch. From door choice to estimate to installation, everyone we worked with went above and beyond to deliver a wonderful new deck door for our home. We hired Evergreen to perform an energy audit and insulation work a few years ago, and were so pleased with their work that Evergreen was the obvious choice for this new project as well. The staff is professional, knowledgeable and service oriented. If there was a ten-star option, that's what we would award.

They insulated our attic. They were always on time and left our home spotless. We felt the benefits of their work during the summer heat.

Very pleased with results. Communication during the estimate phase, the implementation phase, (including the installation team) and the final review and audit. With as busy as contractors have been during this Covid-19 period that is a welcome thing!

Evergreen Home Performance has now done a number of jobs for us to make our home for energy efficient. In 2019 they insulated our basement (spray foam) and replaced our basement windows, and this year they insulated our attic. Bryan Pringle, one of the energy advisors, could not have been more friendly and helpful in informing us of our options and helping make decisions, not to mention getting his hands dirty during the basement window operation. And he didn't even make fun of us for inquiring, and eventually installing, a custom cat door into our basement window. Bruce Merryman and his technician did a fantastic job of squeezing into our tiny attic space and sealing up all the drafty areas before blowing in the insulation. I often tell my husband that if only every experience with home improvements could be as easy as working with Evergreen, then my life would be a lot easier.

We had Evergreen energy do blow-in cellulose. I was very happy with the result. They tested with blower-door before and after. House is now MUCH warmer. Also, in the time since when I've had to open walls for various access, I've been impressed with how they got got the insulation packed in everywhere. I'd use them again.

They were highly recommended. I found them to be very knowledgeable and so helpful, with practical ideas. Despite my not living within their service area, they were generous with their knowledge, describing the usual solutions to correct leaks in my basement, and what the result is likely to be by following path A, B or C, and why. I was discouraged. Talking with Evergreen helped me see that my basement problems are far from insurmountable and really, fairly common in 100-year old homes. There are proven solutions. They even recommended a reliable, reputable contractor in my geographic area. Our consultation changed my outlook on the project from discouraged to hopeful. If my home was within their service area, I would not hesitate to call on them to fix the problems.

Evergreen came out 2 years ago to do an assessment and insulate our roof. This year we had them come back and do the basement as well. They are hands-down the best crew we've ever hired to work on our house.

They are experts at what they do, and super meticulous in their work. After working in our house for a week with blown insulation, there was no trace they were ever here.

We've seen a huge decrease in our energy bills while at the same time the house has become way more comfortable. Can't recommend them enough.

Evergreen removed and replaced the insulation in my attic. They did a great job!, Crew was excellent, and the whole thing went smoothly, and the attic was NOT easy to get into or work in, so kudos to some hard work done well!

We had Evergreen redo the insulation in our roof. The team handling our project did a great job. They left the house spotless. We've already noticed the difference in how much better our house is retaining heat. I would definitely recommend and will use them for future projects

My experience with the General Manager was an exercise in frustration. The work was done on my home March 16 through 18 of '20, right as the COVID pandemic kicked off in the US. Upon conclusion of the project on my home, team lead Dave Holmes told me that my house was the last project for the near future, as Evergreen was going to be shutting down a bit until the pandemic calmed down.

The installation was completed and under normal circumstances Justin would have returned within a few days of project completion to conduct the post-install blower door test. Due to COVID-19, this was put on hold for an unknown period of time. I elected to not yet pay the remaining balance on the project, as I had no idea as to the success of the installation. Had we been able to conduct the post-test immediately, I would have sent in final payment that same day. Instead, I waited for the post-test to be done, and thus began my saga of dealing with the general manager.

Here is a brief timeline of what happened:

3/18: Work is completed, post-test put on hold due to COVID-19 pandemic.

3/19: I send an email to the GM inquiring as to when he thinks the post-test might occur. I receive no immediate reply.

6/11: I receive a call from the GM to schedule the post-test. We decide that 6/15/2020 works best for both myself and Evergreen.

6/14: My wife goes into labor with my soon-to-be-born daughter. I email the GM and Justin and tell them that we will have to delay the post-test due to the imminent birth. Justin replies within 10 hours with a cordial and understanding email. The GM never replies to my email.

6/15: My daughter is born, yay!

7/27: The GM emails me to schedule the post-test. We narrow down possible days to either 8/10 or 8/15. I write back that 8/15 would work best. I receive no reply back from the GM. 8/15 comes and goes without ever hearing back from the GM.

9/6: I send an email to the GM asking when we can get this post-test taken care of. I receive no reply.

9/21: The GM finally replies to my email and asks if 10/1 is a suitable day. In the email the GM writes the following: “At this point your invoice is till [sic] open, are you waiting to pay until his visit?”. I reply with the following: “The morning of October 1st works great for us, thank you! I would prefer to wait until the post-test blower door testing has been done before sending in payment. Once we can verify that the work was a success, I'll send a check right in. Thank you!”.

9/22: I receive a phone call from the GM. The GM implies that I am trying to defraud Evergreen out of paying the final bill. He curtly reminds me that the Efficiency Maine rebate won’t be paid until Evergreen receives final payment, implying that I am trying to receive a $1,500 rebate without making final payment. I tell the GM that any reasonable homeowner would not send final payment before a project is completed. I state that withholding final payment until the work is done is my only leverage as a consumer. The GM tells me that the work has already been done and that my leverage is word of mouth. He then tersely states that “this project has been unresolved for quite some time now”. I tell the GM that as soon as the post-test is completed, a check will be sent to Evergreen without undue delay.

10/1: Post-test completed, work verified as success.

10/06: GM calls me. I let it go to voicemail, as I felt disinclined to answer and receive any further accusations questioning my integrity.

10/7: Final payment mailed to Evergreen.

10/10: I email the GM to confirm that the check safely arrived. I never receive a reply.

I find it appalling for the GM to lay the fallout of an unprecedented global pandemic and the birth of my child at my feet as blame for how long it took to close out this project. Unanswered emails and a lack of reply by the GM are indicative of an attempt on my part to swindle a business out of final payment? I found the 9/22 phone call to be a shameful lapse of decorum and customer service. It left a sour taste in my mouth for the entire experience with Evergreen.

The Evergreen staff I interacted with on the phone and at my home were all very professional. However, Evergreen's cost estimate to insulate my basement was double that of the company I used. Evergreen told me what they proposed to do but did not give me a written proposal with a cost breakdown. I did not ask for one. The company I used gave me a verbal proposal, and followed up with a detailed, written proposal, without being asked. I am very satisfied with the work done and very glad I asked for a bid from the company I decided to use.

Evergreen has insulated two homes that we've owned now and both times we experienced exceptional service and craftsmanship. Our rep, Justin, went above and beyond answering questions and the installation team were attentive to every detail, including pulling out old poorly installed insulation and redoing a bathroom fan that wasn't up to current code. They also left the place spotless every day! Our home is already so much warmer this fall and we are looking forward to using less oil this winter.

Several years ago Brian Robinson evaluated the crawl space at my summer home on Islesboro where I knew moisture was becoming a problem. I had done quite a bit of work in the space many years prior with mixed results. When Brian offered some suggestions, they were ideas that incorporated work previously done, and would be a relatively low cost effort to improve the situation. He offered this advise over several
phone conversations of some length, informally, and at no charge.

I am certain that had I followed his advise at the time, instead of ignoring the problem from a distance for several years, that I would have been spared the large expense of replacing some beams. I spoke to Brian this past Spring and he recalled both my home and his suggestions from several years ago. This time I implemented his plan, and the results were excellent. I believe that this sort of service clearly holds the client's interest foremost. The service was pleasant, informed, and valued.

I think of Evergreen Home Performance as partnering with me in updating and weatherizing my home. The first visit with the advisor provided an extensive assessment of my home's weatherization. I was concerned that I needed to insulate the basement, and was told honestly that wasn't needed. The whole house was assessed for areas of leakage or low insulation, and the attic was the identified area to work on. Preventative action, such as replacing the bathroom vent while there was work being done in the attic, is an example of the kind of attention to detail. The team just finished the sealing and insulating. It was an expert job, in a not very easy attic space to work in. Everyone on the team was well informed, personable and hard working. Communication around dates was excellent, and I always knew the timeline and the exact costs. What was particularly appreciated was the patient and thoughtful attention to my questions and concerns. I very much felt that there was an individualized approach to my situation. I recommend Evergreen to all my friends and would use them again in a heartbeat. My review from 2020: Evergreen Home Performance shows its expertise from start to finish. Evergreen did three house projects in winter/spring/summer 2020 for me, attic insulation, crawl space under a porch insulation, and basement foam/vapor barrier. From my initial discussion with Bryan, I understood the reasons for choosing different types of insulation, the associated costs, and time estimates. Evergreen scheduled in advance, came when they said they would, and the crews were highly professional in their work and demeanor. They went out of their way to make it as easy for me as possible, especially with the basement project which required undoing and reinstalling shelving. I couldn't recommend them more highly. I'd surely hire them again!

Thorough, smart, informative, integrated, and communicative -- that's how my experience was with Evergreen even with the covid interruption midstream. I am very pleased with my experience with Evergreen Home Performance. I met several times with Richard Burbank and he was very detailed in his explanations to all of my questions. He provided me with several options for improving the insulation to our home. The team of installers were very professional and respectful of our home. They did a great job of cleaning up every day after the days work and they were also very responsive to all my questions as well as we collaborated to get our home better insulated. It was a pleasure to work with Richard and his team. On top of that all the work they performed reduced the air leakage from our home by 33 percent which is significant and will go a long way toward reducing our winter heating bills. Evergreen's professional staff did an amazing job insulating the attic of our historic home. Their were great communicators and worked efficiently and cleanly. They got the spots in hard to access places and we are seeing the results in our lower usage of heat!

We had Evergreen come out to our tiny old (100+ year old) house to see what they would recommend for decreasing our carbon footprint, saving money, and increasing our comfort in the cold season. Richard and Bryan were great to work with, patiently answering our many questions and walking us through multiple options. We could only afford to tackle a few areas this year; we ended up replacing some windows and having them weatherize the entire house. They did a blower door test before and after the work, and achieved a 22% air leakage reduction even before our bathroom renovation was finished, so I'm sure it was actually higher. We just finished a large project of air sealing and reinsulating our 1890s basement and attic which had been completely renovated 8 years ago but still felt cold and lacked proper energy assessment and corrections. Really great experience from start to finish with Evergreen. They helped up prioritize what needed to be completed first and it's made a significant difference in our hearing costs already. Plus they were really friendly and considerate to work with!

Evergreen was so helpful in securing us Efficiency Maine funding for a big attic insulation project early this winter. They did all of the paperwork, and totally guided us through a vermiculite removal process that included a payment from a trust for the procedure. I could instantly feel the second floor being so much warmer than before. The boiler does not kick on nearly as frequently since they completed the job. It was worth every penny! Brian Robinson was so thorough throughout the whole process including a full walk through after the job had been completed.

I never leave reviews, but had a great experience with Evergreen and wanted to spread the word! In short, we worked with them to insulate our roof this winter and have noticed surprising immediate results. The constant ice dams I have wrestled with are completely gone, and the home is noticeably more comfortable. It's a little too early to tell if our oil bill is going to reduce, but I imagine we will see an impact there as well.

Additionally, everyone we have interacted with at the company is extremely friendly and easy to communicate with, which is usually a sign of a positive and supportive work environment. The crew who worked at the house were very approachable, and even showed me the details of their work, which helped me understand the job they were doing.

We initially contacted Evergreen through Efficiency Maine for an energy audit, which was conducted promptly and professionally by Justin McEdward, one of their Energy Advisors who is BPI-certified. After a thorough inspection of our newly purchased home, Justin explained in great detail what we needed and did not need. It was agreed that Evergreen would remove all of the existing attic insulation, which was not adequate, and replace it with blown in cellulose, to a rating of R-60. This also involved removing defunct heating ducts, sealing the chimney chase with sheet metal and fire-rated caulk, and sealing all the electrical and plumbing penetrations and other voids. In addition, AccuVents were installed around the attic perimeter, a bathroom vent was extended for exterior exhaust and a tent hatch cover was installed over a drop down staircase.
All of this work was conducted under very difficult conditions in that, while the attic is extensive, the overhead is very low and provides little space within which to work. Nevertheless, the crew, led by David Holmes, got the job done cheerfully, on time, within budget and in a very workmanlike manner. We were consulted at the beginning and end of every workday and whenever any question arose. Otherwise, the work was not at all intrusive. The entire operation was successful from every point of view and a comparison of the blower door test prior to the work and after completion indicated more than a 30% reduction in outside air loss. In addition the cost of the project qualified for an Efficiency Maine rebate, which Evergreen prepared and submitted on our behalf. Over the course of forty-plus years of home ownership and a number of significant repairs and renovation, our considered opinion is that Evergreen ranks right up at the top and they have our highest recommendation.

I waited a year to write this review. Evergreen finished our job late last winter. Terrific results!!! we've gone from 12 day propane deliveries to 30+ day propane deliveries. The house is noticeably warmer. The Evergreen crew was/is professional,prompt,thorough,scientific,gracious and immaculate with respect to keeping our house clean. Money well spent.

The Evergreen analyst did a through examination of our home and spent a good amount of time explaining what he saw as options that would be reflected in a report he promised we would see in a couple of weeks. We even talked about a phase one that could b e started soon after we received the report. Our appointment was on JULY 3rd. Still waiting for the report... (and I did call several times and emailed as well).

Evergreen Home Performance's work was beyond my expectations. They sealed up my 1939 basement, which still had an original window flapping open on breezy days. We had them come back and do a major renovation, replacing twenty-two circa 1980s vinyl replacement windows with gorgeous and efficient Marvin Ultimate Double Hung windows. Bryan, Nate, and Jason were wonderful to work with. Their attention to detail, carpentry skills, and consideration of our time and space was spectacular. They also replaced an old metal front door with a Therma Tru fiberglass door. We have heat pumps and can already feel the difference the new windows are making. I had an energy audit several months ago and I could not believe how much time the gentleman spent going through my entire home. What impressed me more was it was free! From beginning to end – that is from the moment Justin McEdward stepped into our home to assess our energy conservation needs until the crew left – the Evergreen Home Performance process went absolutely smoothly. Justin made a thorough inspection and took pictures with an infrared camera. His proposal described the scope of work in detail, and he explained what we could expect the proposed work to accomplish. Our proposal was forthcoming within a couple of days, and Justin was available to discuss it and answer questions.

The crew arrived on the appointed day to remove old insulation in our basement, reinsulate basement and crawl space areas, seal cracks and crevices, and make our attic insulation more efficient. All members of the crew were efficient, hard-working, and professional; the crew leader was knowledgeable and able to answer our questions as they arose. We were impressed that the clean-up left no trace that Evergreen Home Performance had worked in our home.

Next step: Just McEdward will conduct a post-work infrared survey to show us before and after images and to determine whether the crew would need to return to address any problem spots.

Evergreen did everything they said they would and more. I actually don't mind going into the basement now since they sealed it. The air quality in the house is noticeably better and it's warmer in the winter. We can even store clothing down there where before, whatever was in there would mildew. Even the spider population declined! I used to vacuum so many of them from the corners of the ceilings in the house. Not any more!

First we have Evergreen do a BIG project worth about $20K (windows, basement, insulate & rebuild an entire wall, a door, attics, and air sealing). They were so great we had them come back later when we decided we did want to do our other door. They are professional and do great work. We were very impressed with the professionalism and skill of all the staff that worked in our home. We had extreme moisture problems in our attic during last winter and now that has been completely solved by sealing the numerous air leakage areas, insulating the attic, and applying foam insulation to our basement walls. We also had Marvin replacement windows and a new exterior door installed. The house feels much more snug now. We would recommend Evergreen Home Performance to anyone!

The entire process with Evergreen was excellent and I highly recommend using them. The work was done on time and we already notice a difference in our home's heat retention. Due to my wife and I being unexpectedly busy at work, scheduling times to do consultations and the work itself was a challenge. Our advisor, Justin McEdward, was very patient with or schedules and very thorough when determining how to insulate our home. The work was done while we were away on vacation and when we came back, it was as if no one had been there. While the work was being done, the project manager, Bruce Merryman, noticed some serious issues with our house that weren't noticed during inspection and needed to be addressed before the work could be completed. He went way out of his way to work with us on fixing them, even recommending an electrician and scheduling a time for him to work on our house in order to have the insulation installed on schedule. I can't say enough about how accommodating and helpful he was. These are good people who care about what they do and are very good at it, and I strongly recommend employing them.

I found Evergreen Home Performance via the Efficiency Maine site. Our house was built in the 70's, purchased it in 2016, and the home inspector said the insulation needed a lot of work in the attic. Evergreen came out to do an energy audit, and I asked for a quote to do the work. I selected Evergreen based on other reviews, great customer service and respect I received early on in the process. One year later, I'm happy to report Evergreen has now done 3 jobs on our home. Attic insulation, garage insulation and installed a window. I will be calling them for a quote for two exterior doors! All the work done by all the crews was outstanding. The guys were friendly, respectful, answered all questions and concerns honestly and I trusted having them in my home. We bought our house, built in 1886, four years ago. It is a charming house but, oh, was it cold in the winter! We spent enormous sums on fuel just to shiver in blankets and woolly boots every evening. We also had the most enormous icicles (some six feet long) hanging from our eaves. Evergreen Home Performance was recommended to us and we called for an energy audit. Richard came and did the audit. He explained everything clearly and showed me the problem areas. Later he came to advise us of the options and costs. We opted to have all the work done. We had the attic insulated with cellulose, everything sealed with caulk and and a new attic door installed. In addition, we had the sunroom floor dense-packed with cellulose. Bright and sunny, the sunroom is my favorite room, but before it was insulated, I had to shut it off during the coldest days though there is a nice, hot Jotul stove in the room. Now, I can use the room everyday. Further, we had the basement sprayed with polyurethane foam and a new exterior door installed. No more freezing kitchen floor! We can walk around the house all winter without coats and scarves! And no more deathcicles! Our fuel bill has been reduced by at least two thirds. The team who did the work were efficient and friendly. It is not easy to have work done on a house you are living in but they made the process as painless as possible, cleaning up after themselves every afternoon before they left. I heartily recommend Evergreen Home Performance. We have been thrilled by our results!

Justin and Evergreen were great to work with. I purchased an 1836 house and had them come have a quick look prior to buying to asses the insulation's condition as well as the potential for improvement. not something they typically do. It was well worth it. I had them come in after the sale and do the work Justin outlined. Quality work done on time and budget. I could notice the difference as soon as it was done. There is more work to be done and they will certainly get the call. Highly recommend them.

We've been very pleased with our experiences with Evergreen. We started with a free energy audit, which in many ways gave us a better understanding of our new, 100 year-old house than our home inspection did. Our representative, Cree, not only helped us navigate the rather complicated Efficiency Maine rebate system, he also reworked his plan for the house several times to accommodate our budget, changing priorities, and input. We had an excellent dialog throughout, and working with him was a true pleasure. We ultimately agreed to blowing cellulose into one attic, air-sealing another, and installing more cellulose above and below an additional room. The crew took about a week to complete the work and was very professional, taking care to keep the house clean and remain as unobtrusive as possible. They were also quite thorough and responsive to inquiries. We also got a new bathroom ventilation fan out of the bargain. Though the last mild winter wasn't the best test of the newly insulated house (particularly given the fact that we only lived a few months here before we made the changes), we've nevertheless been very pleased. I would highly recommend Evergreen to anyone.

The team from Evergreen was absolutely professional from the onset. Evaluation of my home to determine how we might better insulate was targeted and reasonably priced. The team that came in worked efficiently and they were very conscientious with regard to sealing the home and cleaning up the work space. I have seen a difference in my utility bills (yes it was a mild winter) but there is no doubt that my house is better insulated, warmer and the efficiency has improved. I would recommend this team of professionals for quality work and greater energy efficiency in one's home or work space.

During the summer\fall of 2015 we had two firms do home energy audits of our house, Evergreen and another Portland based company. The findings of the two reports were similar, though recommendations differed slightly. The Evergreen home energy audit was thorough, and the report clear and concise. Justin explained the pros and cons of each of the recommendations. We chose to have Evergreen do air sealing and insulation work in our three attics and follow-up on the other recommendations in a year. While reducing our use of fossil fuels was a significant motivator, we were most concerned about improving the comfort level in the house, reducing winter drafts and cold spots and second floor heat in the summer. The air sealing and insulation work was completed in a professional and timely manner. Each day at the end of work the crew left the house in a neat and clean condition. They completed the job on time and with no unfinished loose ends. Evergreen processed the Efficiency Maine rebate paperwork immediately upon completion of the job. While this past season was milder than usual, we did notice a significant improvement in our heating costs and efficiency. The first things we noticed was the reduction in drafts, and the lack of the constant sound of the furnace cycling on and off. Rooms come up to temperature faster and do not demand additional heat for longer periods of time. We look forward to seeing the house staying cooler in the summer as the attic insulation reduces the heating of the second floor.

Evergreen was a pleasure to work with. From our first inquiry to the post-installation inspection, they provided courteous, professional and exceptionally helpful service. The results have been truly impressive. They have done an excellent job installing floor, wall and roof insulation, making a tight and secure envelope. What was formerly a summer cottage remained cozy, warm and draft-free throughout the winter, and our heating costs ended up being far less than we anticipated. David Holmes and his crew worked incredibly clean and efficiently and finished the project a day ahead of schedule. I had been worried about what kind of dust would be kicked up in the course of the project, having opened up our walls before and found hoarse hair plaster and loose insulation, but each day the team left the area cleaner than they found it. I've never worked with contractors that showed so much respect for the work area.

It's hard to gauge the change in our heating bills because of all the other factors this winter but I can say that we noticed a change in our comfort levels immediately. With a new baby in the house, we couldn't be happier with the reduction in drafts and heat staying put.

Early in 2015 I asked the folks at Evergreen Home Performance for help in reducing or eliminating the ice dams that had formed on the shed dormer of our Standish home ever since we purchased it in 1979. In March 2015 they conducted an energy audit and, based on that they recommended sealing the attic and adding insulation to bring it up to R-60. They did that work in May 2015. I was very pleased with the quality and thoroughness of both the work crew and their work. Along the way they educated me on the importance of a well-sealed house and as a result I decided do some sealing work myself in our basement. Of course, I was pleased with the quality of my own work in the basement having been trained so well…
I had to wait until the 2015-2016 winter to learn if all the good work actually made progress toward the goal of eliminating my ice dam problem. The short answer is that we had no ice dam problems this past winter. In addition, here are a few other observations from the past heating season:

• We used 76 bags of pellets in our pellet stove through February 2016 vs 100 bags in the same period last year.
• Our house came up to temperature much faster in the morning from the overnight setback temp. I'm sure that the combination of the sealing work you did in the attic plus what I did in the basement was responsible for this.
• Last year, on very cold days (10 deg F or lower) our pellet stove could not keep our living space at the desired 70 deg and we would have to turn on the oil fired boiler. This year we never had that problem.

Admittedly, this winter has been considerably milder than last. Nevertheless, I am confident that the improvements noted above would have occurred regardless.

I am a very satisfied customer and as a result I have and will continue to recommend Evergreen Home Performance to interested friends and acquaintances.
