Edit: Company re-contacted us multiple times to try to remedy the situation; they also instantaneously provided us with a roof *replacement* estimate.
Technician checked back in with us and offered to meet with our insurance adjuster to go over the damage at my request. We are waiting for the insurance company to have time to inspect our damage as they are handling many claims from the last storm.
We contacted this company after the recent storm took out a tree and caused our roof to start leaking. The technician was amazing; he was kind and patient with my Parkinson’s patient fiancé who has speaking difficulties due to his muscle control but still has a sharp mind. The technician was a breath of fresh air - he actually went up to our roof twice and into the attic to inspect the entire roof and where the leaking was coming from. We are trying to get three estimates, and the other two roofers wanted to use drones and programs with a satellite view of the house instead of physically looking at the roof and where it is leaking inside the house. We both love technology, but we would still like someone to actually look at the leaks and explain the situation. He gave us a verbal estimate of around $1500 for repair, but we understood that this number could go up based on the cost of actual materials. We waited for the written estimate for several days and instead received a phone call that “his supervisor had looked at our roof before and would not repair, but only replace.” The only other time that we called a roofer is when our chimney was leaking 6 months ago. So, we must have called this company in the past for that leak - We thought it was the roof, but our insurance company denied us stating that it was the chimney, so we did not have the fluid funds to replace the roof then either as we had to try to work with our insurance company who then also denied the claim for a new roof.
We felt that this was not a fair way to treat a prospective customer as my fiancé had called me, telling me how honest and workable this company was to him - explaining everything and giving a repair estimate especially if our insurance claim is denied again, and then we can only self pay. If you have contacted roofers, you will always find them pushing for a new roof versus giving a repair estimate which is fine if you have the funds or the insurance agrees with the roofer’s conclusion. We understand sales as my fiancé was a car insurance salesman, before his disabilities overtook his ability to work.
We would also love to replace our roof, but my fiancé is now legally disabled from his Parkinson’s, and this has severely reduced our options. Even if the supervisor would have contacted us personally and stated that he would try to work with us with the insurance company, we would have better tolerated the way that this was handled.
People’s lives and homes, which the latter are the heart of the family, literally and metaphorically, depend on being able to protect their living spaces. I wish this company would have had more empathy when they altered the information that made us feel like we had one problem solved. We have not received a written roof *replacement* estimate as of today.
Otherwise, they arrived on time, were professional in their communications until the last phone call, and were thorough in their inspection of the house.
