This company is the best! Their attention to detail is superior and they did everything they said they were going to do and in a timely manner. The materials are top of the line. Jim's communication was fantastic. He would pick up the phone to call me to go over any question I had and not rely on "texting" to give me an answer. That's unusual in today's society to have the owner of the company take the time to talk thorough any question. I would recommend them to anyone who wants a metal roof that will be in place for generations.

Jim, Roy and his team are first class. They bend over backwards to get things done the right way. We had them replace our roof then fix and issue we had with a skylight -- one was a huge job the other a much smaller job -- they treated both like it was the most important thing on their agenda. I can't say enough about how positive our experience has been with Seaboard Construction. We will never use anyone else!

My wife and I would work with Jim and his team again without hesitation. They were professional to work with, on site when they said they would be, and they did an exemplary job on the work itself. Upon the first consultation of our roof project I could tell Jim and his team were going to be the right fit for the job because of their background in not only residential roofing systems but also commercial applications including historic industrial buildings in Norfolk and surrounding areas. This type of knowledge gave us a lot of confidence as homeowners going into the project with Jim and his team at Seaboard because the work we needed was way more involved than a roof replacement-- it involved full demolition of the roof to open-air and reconfiguring the actual framing of the house underneath the shingles in order to switch over to a different structural style to support the roof. Jim and his team carried out this work with precision and proficiency. Five Stars.

Let me tell you a story about my best friend and why you should not trust his company, Seaboard Construction.

After trusting Roy Standing, co-owner of Seaboard Construction, with a six figure roof demo and install, I am faced with an incomplete job and millions of gnats stemming from his work with no resolution in sight.

Instead of completing the demo of my old roof, Roy and Jim Standing decided to cut corners and lay the new roof on top of the old roof, saving them over $100,000 but still charging me for the work. This slight of hand was discovered three months later after swarms of gnats bred in between the old and new roof and infiltrated my building.

After discovering the job was not completed per the contract, I reached out to Roy and Seaboard Construction looking for a solution. Instead of a solution, they said “prove it.” Well, after I hired a 3rd party roofing company to confirm my suspicions, it was “proven” and the findings were sent to Roy and Jim Standing. At this point, they stopped contact with me.

I will happily provide proof to anyone that is considering using Seaboard Construction including photos and videos of their shady work. Just think, if he would do this to his best friend, imagine what he would do to you.

The men at Seaboard were beyond knowledgeable about the work I needed done to my home. They helped every step of the way and I am very pleased with my new shingle roof. Definitely recommend.

Service questions
1. Should I stay home during roof replacement?
+-

It's not necessary to stay home during roof replacement. Roofing work is noisy and can cause vibrations inside the house, which might be uncomfortable. Most homeowners choose to leave during major parts of the project, but our team ensures safety and keeps you updated, whether you're home or not.

2. How long does roof replacement take?
+-

The timeline for a roof replacement typically ranges from one to three days, depending on the size and complexity of the roof, weather conditions, and material type. Larger or more intricate roofs may take a bit longer, but we always aim for efficient, timely completion.

3. How to hire a roofing contractor?
+-

To hire a roofing contractor, start by researching local companies with good reviews and proper licensing. Request quotes from multiple contractors, verify their insurance and certifications, and ask for references. Always ensure you get a written contract that outlines the scope of work, timeline, and payment terms.

4. How to check if a roofing company is legit?
+-

Check if a roofing company is legit by verifying their business license, insurance, and local certifications. Look for memberships in professional associations, read customer reviews, and ask for recent project references. A legitimate company will be transparent and provide all documentation upon request.

5. How to choose a roofing company?
+-

When choosing a roofing company, consider their experience, customer reviews, warranty offerings, and quality of materials. Make sure they provide clear communication, detailed estimates, and a solid portfolio of completed projects. Local expertise is also a major advantage for understanding regional roofing needs.

6. How do you know if your roofing contractor is ripping you off?
+-

Warning signs that your roofing contractor might be ripping you off include vague contracts, pressure to pay large upfront deposits, lack of proper documentation, and unexplained price increases. Always ask for itemized estimates and written guarantees, and avoid contractors who avoid answering your questions directly.
