I have been dealing with Scott’s regarding a window quality issue since late 2024 and it still isn’t resolved

Most recently, Scott’s had ordered a plastic sliding tray for the window. I was told to check in early February regarding the status of the order if I hadn’t heard anything.

In early February, I hadn’t heard anything so on 2/13/2025, I left a message on Scott’s voicemail requesting an order status update callback - no response.

On 2/20/2025, I left a message on Scott’s voicemail requesting an order status update callback - no response.

On 2/24/2025, I called and finally got a hold of Scott and he indicated he that he will look into the order and give a call back “the middle of next week”.

“The middle of next week” has come and gone with no answer. At this point, Scott’s could have likely replaced the window many times over with the amount of resources they have used fielding and deflecting my calls.

At this point, I do not believe the issue will ever will be resolved. I do not recommend Scott’s to anyone in need of services.

I ordered a Larson storm door at Scott's. They told me it would be in by Friday, November 15, 2024. I arranged to have a handyman at my home that morning at 9:30 AM to install the door. I arrived at Scott's that morning at 8:30 AM. I was told the door was in and directed me to the building next door to pick it up. The employees in the storage building could not find the door. I went back to the sales room. A sales person then went to help look. They could not find the door I ordered. We agreed they would call me when they found the door. I ended up having my handyman work on another project since he was already en route and I would have to pay him for the trip.

After weeks of not hearing from Scott's, I went in today (December 6) to cancel the order and get a refund. The employee pointed to the boxed storm door and told me he had been trying to call me. Looking at the phone number Scott's had, we noticed numbers had been transposed. I asked to refund the transaction and that I had decided to put the project off until spring. I was informed that I could have a refund, but I would be charged a 25% "restocking" fee of $93 on the $371 door. The door was in the box unopened.

I took the storm door and will store it until spring. Dealing with Scott's has cost me extra money (pay to have a handyman return to my home), and hassle. Not being able to find a product they said was in their warehouse, not communicating, and being unwilling to give a refund without price gouging me are the reasons I advise staying clear of Scott's Lumber.

What a great company, helpful, stands by their product and has great customer service which is rare these days. I've used them on my first house and had them fix something today. You guys ROCK. THANK YOU!

I walked in today to price out some poplar for a home project. I let them know that I was just comparing prices.

They said, "we're not the cheapest, but we usually have it in stock."

So then I go to Menards, Home Depot, and Lowe's, only to find out that Scott's was, in fact, the cheapest... The dirty liars.

If I could give them zero stars I would. I have never written a negative review, but I have also never been so disappointed with a company, the quality of the product & the extremely disappointing customer service. We had SEVERAL issues with the kitchen cabinetry we ordered from them. We were told this company “stands behind” their product but that certainly isn’t the case. From their staff member yelling at me, hanging up on me, to re ordering product multiple times and it still being wrong, to several days and sometimes a week or more without a response or return message when we are on tight deadline. They have caused so much unnecessary headache and have created so much more work with having our installers have to come back multiple times to fix their issues and now waiting in limbo for “replacement” product that is taking weeks. To constantly having to reach out to see where we are at with our project (due to ZERO communication) & honestly I just hope to anyone reading this that if you’re working on a project you take your money elsewhere where you will be respected and with a company that stands behind their product. You will be thankful you saved yourself the headache. Stay clear of this place!! Having worked with several venders & companies in Sioux Falls I can say anywhere else would be a better option than this place. Such a joke!!!

Went to the store in August 2018 to get some weather seals for doors. Finally got someone to place an order for me in October after multiple calls and visits to the store. Half the order I received were the wrong parts and ever since I cannot get anybody to return my call. It is now end of January 2019 and I am still waiting for someone to re order the correct parts. I have called at least once every 1-2 weeks to try and figure out what is going on and I keep getting told that someone will be in contact with me. Not sure how there is this many 5 star reviews. I have talked to many others who have had similar experiences in dealing with Scott’s. I want to go somewhere else at this point but I have money tied up in the wrong parts that were ordered. Very frustrating how utterly terrible their customer service is.
