Excited with our new Bathroom by Schafer Brothers. It looks beautiful! Can’t wait for glass enclosure and mirror. Our lead man Neil was awesome he addressed any questions or small details we had on a daily basis. It’s going to be everything we dreamed of having.

Schafer Brothers have been amazing to communicate with from our first inquiry, meeting with Avery, and to the ending of our projects. We had two bathrooms remodeled. Erik who was our lead carpenter was very friendly, knowledgeable, organized and clean throughout the entire process.

We absolutely loved working with Schafer Brothers. Everyone from Dave, our salesman, to Erik who was our project lead, to the contractors and the guys who assisted, they were all very friendly, courteous and knowledgeable. They remodeled 2 of our bathrooms. We love our new, updated bathrooms! Dave was great helping us make our product choices. Erik was amazing. He kept us informed on how the project was coming along. Whatever questions we had, he had the answers. He made sure the areas were cleaned up at the end of every day. And, he was a friendly, down to earth guy who we enjoyed having in our home. We will be sure to use Schafer Brothers for our future projects.

We recently had Schafer Brothers add on a three seasons room. From our initial meeting with Avery until the completion the project went smoothly. The communication from Mitch and everyone on the project was so appreciated. The dream of this room turned into a stunning reality that we Love!
Lee was phenomenal. Every little detail that we might not have thought about he did. The quality of his work is excellent. Nate, Matt and Jeff also were exceptional.

Schafer Brothers workers are awesome and Erik, one of their project leads, is phenomenal beyond words. We had our entire first floor remodeled but the stairway and 2nd floor hall. Our project took longer than expected but that happens. You can tell that Erik loves his job and he is meticulous with his work as well.
Why 4 stars? The subs they hired were something else, the electricians were young and seemed more interested having fun then concentrated on the details. The painters by far were the absolute worse. Horrible mudding and painting by them and even after return visits to fix the issues they ended up being kicked of the job and Schafer . Lastly was some miscommunication with the office to the guys on-site.
Overall, my wife and I were so happy with Schafer Brothers we will use them for future projects and always ask for Erik to do them.

We had a unique kitchen remodel situation but Avery and Jeff didn't hesitate to jump in and take over! The communication was great the entire time and our lead carpenter, Erik, really made what could be a very disruptive project actually pleasant. Not only was his craftsmanship and attention to detail impressive, but we felt completely comfortable with him being in our home (which is saying a lot). Our next home project will be through Schafer and we’ll definitely be requesting Erik !

My bathroom is just what I wanted. After several mishaps the first 2 weeks Jeff and “Mister Fixit” Nate came to the rescue. They made sure everything was taken care of and even noticed things I had not. Very pleased with the outcome. Guess things do happen. Would recommend that you ask for Nate to lead any future projects you do.

We are thrilled with our kitchen remodel project which consisted of removing portions of a wall and enlarging one of the doorways to the kitchen, along with a beautiful new ceramic tile floor in the kitchen/dining room. (Without the entry way made wider we wouldn’t have been unable to open the door of our new refrigerator.)

When we met with Amy it was discovered that removing the wall would be a much bigger project than expected and the cost would exceed our budget.

Approximately one week later, Amy called and asked if she could come back out with Mitch and Jeff. She said they had been talking and may have a solution where we could proceed with the project. They spent a good amount of time including climbing up in our attic and came up with a solution that would be less costly but still achieve the look we wanted.

We put our faith in Schafer and were not disappointed. From start to finish. Everything went exactly as planned.

James arrived Monday at 7 AM, ready to hit the ground running. When I began to observe his work and technique I was astonished at the level of expertise and knowledge he had. I could give many examples, but this review is long enough. Everything James did was done meticulously and precisely. I was relieved the first day, and knew everything would turn out beautiful and it did!

James offered suggestions and helped with small issues throughout the project. Where we would have just lived with the situation, James made them perfect! Paul was amazing as well and went above and beyond.

The project was suppose to take 3 weeks and James had it wrapped up in 2 weeks and 2.5 days!

Schafer Brothers is a wonderful company from start to finish, and I can’t recommend them enough.

Great experience with the company. I feel lucky to have found a company that does what they say they will. Exploratory project to discover and solve the issue. Avery wrote a proposal to cover the expected but explained possible costs if things weren’t as expected and why.
Chad and John did the work and project went as expected and proposed. They were professional, personable and easy to work with. Schafer Brothers is our go-to for remodel and other home jobs, most recently a group of smaller fixes from our "honey do" list. We've used them multiple times and to a person, each employee is fantastic to work with. Their work is excellent and everyone takes pride in the quality. Highly recommend this team!

Schafer Brothers just remodeled our master bathroom and we couldn't be happier. From beginning to end the Company exceeded our expectations. Our lead technician, Nate, communicated with us at every step of the way and made sure we understood what was going on at all times. The work area, both inside and out, was left spotless at the end of each day. Nate is a very talented, hard worker and justifiably proud of his work.

We feel that the employees are valued and the happy family atmosphere that exists there spilled over into our remodel. We couldn't have asked for a better experience.

We recently had Schafer Brothers remodel our master bathroom and they did an amazing job! We started out with a very outdated, barely functioning bathroom and ended up with a spa like master bathroom that feels like an oasis. Lee was amazing to work with! He payed attention to every detail, was very knowledgeable, professional, kept us informed each day on the progress, he was punctual, and always cleaned up at the end of each day. We would highly recommend Schafer brothers for your remodeling project.

We have been working with Schafer Bros for many years. Every project (there have been 10+ of them!) that they have completed for us has been amazing. The process for each of these was clearly presented and explained. The work was completed within the timeframe that we were told. At the end of every work day the area was left clean. The crews were experienced, listened to our concerns and left us with a finished project that always pleased. Our most recent project involved putting LVP (luxury vinyl plank) throughout the living room, dining room, family room and kitchen. Our “lead” was Lee, who was amazing. He listened to my concerns and found a way to solve them, including working “off the clock” to find the right color match. Schafer Bros has secured a “home”with us.

I got my bathroom remodeled - and to be honest, my house is "weird" so it was definitely a challenge. Schafer Brothers was up to the task and able to turn my master bathroom from a wreck into a spa-like space. The project went a bit longer than expected, largely due to issues out of Schafer's control, but the finished product makes me quite happy.

Special shout out to Nate who did truly excellent work - kept it spotless, was patient when explaining why and how there would need to be any deviations from the original plan (like I said - my house is weird) and kept things on track. Thanks Nate!

I totally recommend Schafer Bros. From beginning to end, everyone that we worked with was great and we could not be any happier with the work that they did in our home. Absolutely the best! We will definitely use them for any future home remodeling and repairs.

This is the second time we have called upon Schafer brothers for work needed at the house. What I like is the professionalism of the office and their staff. Neil got this job with Chad as his co pilot that consisted of cedar board and trim replacement then painting of the entire house. Oh don't forget our new gutters and exterior lights. I don't usually write reviews but I just wanted to say Thank you to Schafer Brothers.

The plan was to update our kitchen and master bath with new countertops, sinks, faucets, lighting and mirrors. The entire project was completed in 10 days.
A big shout out goes to John Ilkow, who did excellent carpentry work and was onsite every day to supervise the other workers. He also made sure all the mess was cleaned up before he left each day.
Also, Paul Gibson, electrician, who consulted with us on every step in making sure the lights and lighted mirrors were exactly where we wanted them.
David Bray made the selection of materials and quoting process painless and field supervisor Jeff Anderson checked in on a regular basis. We are very pleased with the results and would definitely consider using Schafer Bros. for any future projects

This has been the best experience from Dave our sales person to Nate our lead, Eric our cabinet person to Jeff who goes over things..
Nate is outstanding for how he works and handles challenges and makes you feel relaxed about the project, what a leader.. Eric who took care of our cabinets is meticulous about his work and knows all there is to know on cabinets.. I would recommend Schafer to anyone looking for remodeling.. Nate and Eric are dependable and willing to go the extra mile to make you happy.. they are very.neat and caring..I look forward to working with them again..thank you to Schafer Builders..

We had our basement finished by Schafer Brothers and could not be happier! We worked with Nathan, Jeff, James, Paul and Nate. We were quoted to have the job done in/around 3 weeks. Our basement was completely unfinished to begin with, and James, Paul and Nate whipped out the framing, insulation,drywall, painting ceiling black, running electrical (12 can lights and new outlets) laying LVP, painting walls, hanging new doors and trimming out new windows all in 2 weeks and 3 days. I’m sure much more went into this-but this is what I saw. It was incredible to watch our unlived space transform daily into a place we all love to hang out now! This team of guys were friendly, considerate, tidy, extremely talented and speedy. Nate even brought treats for our labs! We couldn’t be happier with how our experience went working with Schafer.

Our experience with Schafer for our bathroom remodel was great! Nate, our carpenter did a great job with everything! And he cleaned up every day so that everything was spotless. The tile installer Brian was also great. Our bathroom looks amazing! I would highly recommend them!

Schafer Builders took our $2500, deposit but never provided a proposal, nor have they responded to our numerous emails and text. We even stopped into the office three different times requesting a meeting or a call; however, they never responded. As an older couple, we feel the company took advantage of us. We were working with Avery.

We chose Schafer Brothers Remodeling to remodel our master bathroom and our hall full bathroom. We worked with Mary to help pick out our selections for flooring, tile, countertops and everything else and couldn't be happier with her assistance. We worked with Erik for both bathrooms and wouldn't want to work with anyone else. His work ethic along with scheduling everything in a timely manner to clean up at the end of every day to answering any questions we had was amazing. He is a perfectionist and his outstanding craftsmanship and attention to detail can be seen in his work. We love the end results in both bathrooms and would always request Erik for any future projects. He was a pleasure to work with and we enjoyed our time when he was in our home.

They did an outstanding job. Joel kept me informed and answered my questions. Impressed with how they cleaned up at the end of each day. Joel and Alex got things done efficiently and worked well together.

We love the porches that Shafer Brothers built for us. The first image is the porch that they built (We also had a new sewer line put in, so the yard is incomplete.). The second picture is the porch with our finished painting of the front steps. The third picture is the back porch which we have not yet painted.
Everyone who compliments the porches say that they look like they are original to the house. We consider that the highest compliment that Shafer Brothers deserve.

Gosh where to start. I hired Schafer Brothers to remodel our master bathroom. The people who owned our home prior to us were self-proclaimed DIYers and there was a lot that needed to be undone. Avery was our sales consultant and he was absolutely wonderful, very personable, not pushy and really allowed me to understand all of our options. He thoroughly explained everything as we went and we would often get lost in conversation. Such a nice guy. Once we signed the contract we waited about 12 weeks before the project started so they could allow time for the materials to all get in, which I really appreciated. We had our pre-construction meeting where we aligned on everything outlined in the proposal and I got to meet everyone. The work started the following Monday where the absolute STAR of the show, Matt, came to work. Having Matt in our home was truly like having a friend over - he was so professional, kind, funny, personable and incredibly talented at what he does. He was always on time, spent time with our dog and even brought treats for him each day. Matt would start each morning by giving me a rundown of what was on the schedule, and he was so patient answering my many questions. He really ensured that everything was done well and right the first time. Matt paid such close attention to detail and noticed things that I otherwise wouldn't have and brought them to my attention to talk me through it. He exceeded every single one of our expectations. On his last day here, I was so sad to see him go! I'm definitely going to miss having him around - until the next project that is. Schafer Brothers was absolutely INCREDIBLE to work with. Matt has been with the company for 26 years, and honestly - a company that treats its employees that well to where they stay for that long is unheard of today. I cannot wait for our next project - because there will be only one phone call I'll make. And you better believe I'll be requesting Matt specifically! Thank you again to Matt, Avery, Austin and Mitch for all of your work on our bathroom remodel. We are so so happy with the final product.

Nate are friendly very professional and we are so happy with his job and he always on time and before he lives the and off the day he clean everything I highly recommend Him

First, a shout out to Lee Stiemke, our on-site supervisor and all around master builder. He totally gutted our master bathroom and installed a new, large shower, double vanity, and closet. Wonderful result that was tailored to our wants and needs.

The 2nd half of the project was stripping out old flooring in a large great-room and installing pre-finished wood flooring that matched the remainder of that on the rest of the floor. That was a trial that they over came because the quality control of Bruce flooring is not anywhere close to what it was when our original flooring was installed around 15 years ago. Lee had to overcome many boxes of flooring with much waste. The end result looks great!

Schafer Brothers Remodeling, specifically the very talented James, remodeled our entire kitchen. We couldn’t be more pleased with the end result.

James was always on time, always keeping us up to date on how the project was going, friendly and easy to work with.

Schafer Brothers did an outstanding job with our bathroom remodel. They delivered exactly what they promised -- beautiful workmanship done on time and within budget while maintaining a spotless job site. They made the entire experience pleasant and hassle-free. Kudos to Matt for his excellent work. We will definitely be using Schafer Brothers again!

We contracted with Schafer Brothers for home exterior repair and the work was completed by Patrick Bass. Patrick completed the work ahead of schedule and did a great job! He was also very professional, prompt, and tidy. Patrick communicated with us during the process which was greatly appreciated. A shout-out and thanks to Patrick!

I would like start by saying I've used Schafer Brothers before & it was a good experience overall. This time we used them for a basement remodel & a new stairway to the basement. The basement remodel was good also, but this review is for the stairway. First, the person that installed the new treads & risers never sanded the treads, then used one coat of stain & poly. The result was blotchy & unprotected. When I swept the stairs hair & dust would get stuck. Since we have animals, that's an issue. The communication with the office & the project lead to come back to fix it was beyond horrible. Finally the project lead came back. He sanded the treads, applied a couple of coats of stain, & we agreed to at least 3 coats of poly to protect the stairs. The project lead said he used a new product to get the job done quicker, although the time not accessing the stairs wasn't an issue, & it dried white in places. We used a dark grey/black stain so the white from the dried poly was very obvious. There is also stain on the risers & mop boards now so it looks like a child that can't stay in the lines completed this work. The project lead was nice & worked on some walls that he didn't like the final look on while he waited for things to dry, but he then dripped grey paint on the white trim in places. I have called & texted a couple times to have them come look & figure out how to fix this. The first time I was told they'd arrive about 3:30 pm, but I got a text around 5 pm that his day went south & he'd come by Saturday. Then he was sick Saturday & he'd call next week. I had to text him 2 weeks later & he said he'd come by. Nobody has been by or called again to set anything up. In the pictures I circled a couple places you can see the stain on the risers. Schafer Brothers isn't cheap, but when they do the job correctly they're worth it. They charged between $15-$20K for these stairs & the result I have right now is not worth what I paid. I do not recommend using them for stairs.

Update 2/13/24: Schafer has come back & basically redid the stairway. The treads were sanded & stained. They also cleaned up & painted the mop board & risers. They look amazing now. At least I think so. I still don't know if I would recommend them to replace stairs, but they did ultimately get the job done the way I wanted. Thank you Matt!! I added a picture of the completed staircase.

Bill and his team of high professional staff did an outstanding job constructing two new 3-season porches on our home, even during the winter months! Our construction crew led by Lee and staffed by Brandon, Paul, and Anthony were on time every day, did accurate and professional work, and left the site clean every day. Other staff members who worked on the project included our electrician Austin, Mitch, Mark, and the Garcia Roofing and Siding crew. Thanks for the great work!

We just had our kitchen remodeled by Schafer Bros. The best part of this company has to be their team. We had great experiences with everyone who we worked with but a few highlights have to be...

Nathan: From the first initial meeting with Nathan, we knew we were in the right hands. Nathan was always friendly, professional, and clear about each step for this project. He made the planning completely stress-free!

Mary: Designed the layout and overall look of the kitchen. It's obvious she's experienced with how fast she understood the style/vision we were going for. During our showroom appointment, she came prepared with recommendations and guided us through the process with ease.

James: Handled everything once the remodeling began. He always arrived with a clear plan and a problem solving mentality. He was the backbone of this project, treating our home as if it's his own and always willing to give his expert opinion. We will definitely be working with Schafer Brothers in the future and requesting James to work on our home again.

Schafer Brothers is a phenomenal choice for any remodel! Kitchen remodel turned out amazing! We worked with David as our sales consultant. He squared us away after several changes made by us. He was patient, knowledgeable, experienced, friendly, and always for the customer! When it came time for the remodel, James was also amazing! He was always responsive, knowledgeable, hard working, communicative, open to changes, offered his opinion, came to work every day and was always available! Even came on the weekend to discuss the project just to assure us. Thanks to both James and David for a quick remodel! We are so grateful to have used a family oriented company such as Schafer Brothers! We will certainly recommend them and use them again!

Schafer Brothers did a phenomenal job with our 1st floor renovation (kitchen, powder room, family room and den). Dave Bray really guided us through the entire process / project and always made himself available. Mary did a wonderful job with the design (really listened to what we were looking for). And Patrick Bass, lead contractor, was with us day-to-day. He did an incredible job! He delivered with quality and within schedule. He worked with us day to day in our home, keeping us continually informed, and was someone we could trust. It's the quality, availability, flexibility, communication and trustworthiness of the team that will bring our business back to Schafer for our next project.

I needed better cooking ventilation. I had them install a new microwave with better range coverage and they created venting to the outside up through existing cabinets. Plus they installed new tile to match my existing backslash. In and out in one day! Great company to work with.

What a great job by Schafer Brothers. Full kitchen remodel and I do not have one complaint. They were very professional and clean all the way through the whole project. Great quality work! James, our foreman, was the best addition to our project. You cannot go wrong if he is on your project!

We chose Schafer Brothers for our kitchen and laundry room remodel because of their reputation for quality work and because they took care of everything. We were extremely pleased with how smoothly the job went. Joe gave great suggestions and options and walked us through the blueprints, costs, and scheduling—and was right on with the time frame. Mary’s eye for color was extremely helpful. And Lee was not only a skilled craftsman (for instance, we needed some angled cabinets built), but also was very informative in keeping us updated and answering questions on every part of the job. Good solutions were quickly found for “surprises” like a steel beam above the ceiling. Not least, each day the jobsite was completely cleaned. With Joe, Mary and Lee in charge of the work the kitchen and laundry room turned out fabulous. We highly recommend Schafer Brothers!

High praise to Brian and John for their outstanding work on the installation of a new deck and railing on my front porch. Also, they went above and beyond by installing a ramp and grab bar to help me negotiate the step up to the porch and the step up into the house. Great job.

An outstanding job on the major upgrade on our townhouse. Avery Schafer told he would knock our socks off and they did just that. Daniel the lead on our project was responsive and dedicated to performing the work to a high level of quality. It is not very often that a vision that you have of how the outcome of project will look and this work exceeded our expectations.

I was very happy with the entire master bathroom remodel, Lee was fantastic. Throughout the process Dave was friendly and professional. He even tolerated me sending him Pinterest pictures at 5 a.m. asking his opinion. LOL!

At the meeting before the project began, we met Lee. Lee would be the guy who handled the entire kitchen remodel from demolition to final touches. Lee was friendly and payed close attention to detail. I was very comfortable having Lee in my home, even when I wasn't there. Lee was highly professional. He ensured the process went smoothly. We had our deck refinished. Replaced the flooring and privacy fence and added a screen room! I can’t tell you how beautiful a job they did!! I’m truly amazed by Dave Bray! I call him with an idea of what I’d like done and he’s on the spot coming up with a vision. Then when it comes to life, the project always exceeds my expectations! Lee, the man who makes the vision a reality, is an outstanding carpenter and over all great person to work with. Lee has the vision of the project before work even begins. He gives advice when asked, and can point out unforeseen issues before hand. Lee’s attention to detail on every job he's done for our family is on point & greatly appreciated! The entire crew is awesome which includes John the other carpenter which worked on our project down to the guys that hauled away the old deck!!

I had a kitchen remodeled from top to bottom and it turned out great. Schafer Brothers might seem a bit expensive but they are worth every penny. Always on time, always communicating and available, clean and on budget. Working with Lee was a treat as he is just a great guy. Would recommend to anyone.

We just had our bathroom remodeled by Schafer Brothers and could not be more pleased. Daniel was an excellent foreman. He was very neat and answered all our questions along the way. Highly recommend!

We had a 4 season added a handful of years ago, I wish I would have had them redo the complete roof, before we made the final payout, the roof leaked into the room after a heavy rain, they apparently fixed it and I trusted them, they took advantage of us, perhaps they are ignorant or at least the subcontractors they use. The brief storm today returned water to to inside.... it’s going to be a mold problem waiting to happen, keep an eye on them and hold them accountable to your needed standards, not theirs, as it appears they cut corners. This is not a singular event, on top of this I have had to have some of the electrical work redone to......the lights in the crawl space quit working....

When looking to do some remodeling of a master bathroom, guest bathroom and powder room, we wanted to support our local businesses. We passed the Schafer Brother Remodeling office on Route 14 so many times but never took much notice. Hidden in that office ... a wealth of experience, resources and a staff transforming rooms from dreams to reality. Our initial contact was with David Bray who was more of a friend than a salesman ... he listened to what we wanted, gave us suggestions, let us make decisions in our time and never pushy. He was always positive, jovial, and always so accommodating to our schedule. With so many decisions to be made and one of us very indecisive (that would be me), he was patient and suggestions. This business is a well-oiled machine...they are a team working together and never once did we meet with anyone that didn't want to please and make dreams come true. They were always clean and respectful of our home and us (to include our 2 dogs). Seeing the awesomeness of Mark and Dan transforming the rooms with the help of a talented Mike who did the tile and with the assistance of plumbers /electricians and a team that supported them fully was such a joy. The quality of their work and craftsmanship exemplary. If you want a remodeling job done and done right with outstanding results, consider this company seriously. Why even consider anyone else? They rock!

We had a bathroom remodel and Dave from Schafer was the only salesman who truly understood what we wanted. Once work started, it was done quickly and well. Daniel was great to work with. There were only a few unavoidable delays . . . waiting for the glass to come in after it was measured. Daniel kept us apprised of any difficulty, worked very hard and cleaned up before leaving for the day. The quality of the work was good and we love our new bathroom. Thank you!

They have done multiple jobs for me over the last few years, and do a great job. They explain everything and, best of all, they listen to your wants and needs!

We had committed to having the shower unit updated with a company that found serious leakage/potential mold issues both interior and exterior and that company was unable to complete their part of the project. Schafer Bros were contacted and very quickly gave an assessment and detailed information about what needed to be done. Their work was started the next day and completed within a few days. Very professional - knowledgeable - and their work was exceptional. Because of their expertise we have contracted with them for further remodeling work.

It’s such a pleasure to recommend a company that is excellent in every way! We have had Schaffer Brothers assist us with several projects, the latest of which was a remodel of our master bathroom. Everything from the beginning to the end of the project spelled excellence! From Joe Schaffer’s assessment of the need, his guidance in design and materials, to the project’s implementation and completion by Matt, truly a master builder and craftsman. The project site was kept clean, great care was taken to keep the dust and debris at a minimum and vacuumed up each day, and the project was completed ahead of schedule! Really, we can’t say enough about the Schaffer Brothers organization . . . they all are truly professional in all they do, from initial contact with Joe or Bill, anyone who answers the phone at their office, and those who work on the job. I just want to thank you for stopping my roof leak issue.

I really appreciated you calling me back right away after my initial call and coming out within 2 days to take a look the problem. Your roofer was here the following week. I think his name was Will. He was very professional and courteous. He replaced the MWV flashing and also went over the entire roof and re-seated and patched any nails that had popped up.

Well, Mother Nature gave it a good test that very night. I remember waking up in the middle of the night to the noise of the pounding rain on the roof. When I got up the next morning, there were no traces of any water leaking into the bathroom or the basement. It has rained a couple more times since then and still no leaks. I took down my plastic and put my buckets away yesterday.

Thank you again for being there for me.

Schafer’s just finished a kitchen and living room remodel for me and I am extremely satisfied with the results. They are detail oriented, efficient, and just happened to know what I really wanted in a remodel.

We are convinced that with most contractors we would have ended up in court. Their people are great, their work is impeccable, and their integrity is unquestionable. They are worth every penny and we would not go any place else for future projects.

We recently had our master bathroom remodeled. It turned out even better than my wife and I expected. I would especially like to commend Matt Leuhr for his outstanding work, attention to detail, professionalism, and customer service. He was exemplary. He met with us every day to explain to us what was to be done that day and then again to keep us current for work the next and beyond. He always had a pleasant, cheerful attitude, and would always answer any questions we might have had. We did a complete kitchen gut and remodel. The quoting process was great and Schafer was very easy to work with. The crew was very friendly and responsive to my inquiries. They cleaned up after themselves each night before they left. They did excellent work and I am very pleased with the results.

Women Beware: I called to have someone come out to give me a quote on a bathroom remodel. The gentleman I spoke with was condescending and rude, asking inappropriate, sexist questions about whether or not I was the 'decision maker' and if I owned my home. News flash: Women aren't chattle and can own property in the United States.

After more than 15 years of use, our attached screen porch vinyl windows were in sad shape and needed repair. When we contacted Schafer Brothers for a quote we happened to mention that we wished that the porch had normal windows instead of vinyl. They picked up on this comment and said they would investigate to see if this was possible. We were pleased when they came back with a proposal that would replace the existing vinyl windows with standard energy efficient ones. Since this option stayed within our budget we gave them the go ahead and within a short time the project was completed. We now have a porch that looks great with the real energy efficient windows making our porch usable more days of the year. From first contact to completion, Schafer Brothers were great. Their friendliness, attention to detail and skilled workmanship made this a total 5 star and all smiles project.

What I love about Schafer brothers is that when an issue or problem arises (and every construction job has an occasional issue), they immediately take care of it CORRECTLY. We have had our basement finished, master bath remodeled, new brickwork, new windows and an entire external wall repaired/replaced by Schafer. They did a total tear out and all new bathroom for us. Turned out spectacular! They rebuilt our old bathroom into a showcase bathroom. We highly recommend Schafer Brothers. Our 96 year old house needed a lot to get up to code before the transformation. Schafer Brothers took care of all of it - they were timely, professional and great at their jobs.

Through the years my spouse and I have observed the high-end quality of Schafer's workmanship throughout McHenry County. When we recently purchased our 50+ year old house, we decided to call upon Schafer to improve our investment. We are happy we did. They took the time to talk with us, and were conscientious about the quality of the products they used, took care in their work, and each day cleaned up the area.

As for the details of the project: Our entryway only had the original frosted, single pane, side-lite windows on both sides of a drafty door where we could see the sun shine between the hinges. Schafer replaced our entry door with a custom Therma-Tru door to fit the era of our house and stained it to our preferred color choice. They also installed double pane, customized side-lite windows to the exterior of the original frosted side-lites, and to further protect the glass they stripped and repainted our decorative wrought iron panels and installed them over our new side-lite windows. They removed the clunky old storm door and replaced it with a Larson's full view door and brass lock. The entire exterior door frame was also given a fresh coat of paint. Our entryway work was completed in August and now that we are approaching November and have experienced a variety of weather, we can honestly say that our house is more energy efficient since Schafer made these improvements.
