Kelvin worked on our patio ceiling installation under our existing covered deck as a subcontractor for our patio installer who does not do any deck work. Outdoor treated wood was chosen within his guidance (we were asked to pick between wood or vinyl). We let him know that the water-proofing was done by another deck company who built our covered deck about a year ago.

After a couple of months, we noticed some black marks on the ceiling. Our patio installer checked and said it looks like stain for being outdoor(?). The black stain kept spreading and so we had it tested with a MOLD kit. The result was positive. The WHOLE INSTALLATION HAD TO BE REMOVED DUE TO WIDE SPREAD MOLD within a couple of months.

We contacted a few other deck and patio companies after this experience to see how they would go about installing a ceiling under the deck with a water-proofing done by another company. Two companies mentioned that the water-proofing should be tested for any leaks prior to planning, which Kelvin COMPELTELY FAILED to check or even comment during his evaluation.

Even some professionals can make mistakes. As long as they own up to it and fix the issue, it can be understandable. Unfortunately, both Kelvin and the patio installer were very quick to blame it on us for choosing that material against their recommendation (untrue, and even more infuriating that they are putting this on the customer. WHY WOULD WE EVER GO AGAINST THEIR RECOMMENDATION AND THROW AWAY THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS DOWN THE DRAIN?). Their version of a resolution was to buy more material and spend MORE money on Kelvin's work, so he can 'fix' this ridiculous situation that should not even have happened in the first place, as if they are doing us a favor. WE ASKED FOR A FULL REFUND, so we can get this work done properly by another company and THEY REFUSED. It is a real shame. Our patio project was going so beautifully until Kelvin got involved.

After obtaining 5 different estimates to add a porch onto the front of my house, I choose Reliable for two reasons: 1) A neighbor had hired them and gave positive feedback; 2) Very reasonably priced compared to others.

I was so pleased with the price, that I asked Kelvin if he could do more work on the house for me, and he agreed! I now have new insulated siding, a new roof, new gutters and a new front concrete sidewalk in addition to the wonderful porch that has electrical outlets and a lighted-ceiling fan! The fan makes all the difference!

What impressed me most was how Kelvin met all my needs, and made suggestions to improve on my plans. I really felt as though we we're a team! And then he surprised me with little extras like detailed crown molding, tying the new gutters into the existing underground release pipes and adding a few extra feet length on the sidewalk that really made a difference ! Some ground leveling and planting grass seed from where I had the tree removed was another nice surprise!

I would definitely hire Reliable Construction again!

Excellent pricing, great communication, and Kelvin and crew are wonderful craftsmen. Even did a few extras for us, which was really nice!
