On a $30K-$70K deck project, most consumers are educated enough to get a few bids and carefully study them.

Most of us are too busy with our work and daily lives to carve out 90 minutes for a simple thing as a preliminary estimate. Thank you.

Communication was clear and consistent throughout the entire process. Once we had HOA approval the project was started and conducted quickly. The quality and workmanship was great. We did experience a slight miscommunication with the install team as we had a gate that was on the project but they originally stated the project was complete before installing it. I let them know and the gate was installed within the week. This was an extension to an already installed deck and it matches closely and looks great with the existing deck!

Every aspect was professional. Work was true craftsmanship with attention to detail and customer service minded. We are thrilled with the result and really felt listened to and weren’t upsold anything but given possibilities that fit our vision

It is July 2025. I received a quote from PW in 2020, but ended up going with another business for whatever reason. PW has been told this, I’ve asked them to stop calling. I stopped answering their calls. They never leave a message. So I started blocking them, but they call from a different number every single day. (Literally). We’re not interested. Their build may be fine, I wouldn’t know, but their pushy contacts when requested to stop is less than desirable.

We just had our deck completed by PWHI, and this marks our third project with them. Once again, they exceeded our expectations. From the scheduling team to the on-site crew, everyone was professional, hardworking, and made us feel like we were their only customer. The ground crew, in particular, was exceptional—efficient, respectful, and highly skilled. We appreciated the daily email updates detailing what to expect each day, which kept us well-informed throughout the process. If you're looking for a company in Northern Virginia that delivers quality craftsmanship with professionalism and courtesy, we highly recommend PWHI. We wouldn’t consider hiring anyone else—they’re simply the best.

I am beyond THRILLED at how well my new deck turned out! Prince William Home Improvement was with me every step of the way and made the entire process seamless and hassle-free. The craftsmanship and quality of the finished product is worth every penny. You cannot go wrong with this company!

We contacted Prince William Home Improvement (PWHI) because they are one of the few authorized dealers/installers of Trex decking, which has such a fine reputation. PWHI was outstanding throughout the project. The salesman who came to our house was knowledgeable and not at all pushy. We took advantage of the offered discounts and decided on the spot to move ahead, knowing we had a couple of days in which to change our mind. Once we had finally committed to the project, we were frequently contacted by the office staff, who provided detailed plans for our review and approval. Our project manager regularly communicated with us about the start date and gave updates on progress, weather-related issues, and expected time of completion. A quality control inspector was on-site almost daily throughout the project and we were able to talk directly with him about small matters that arose and these were addressed immediately to our satisfaction. After the project was completed and we had signed off in final inspection, we noticed an issue. The project had been built exactly according to the plans, but we had failed to notice that one element of the design was not what we had intended. Although they had no obligation to do so, PWHI was extraordinarily gracious in returning to the site and addressing the issue, charging us only a small fraction of the true cost of redoing that one section. We were blown away by their professionalism, top-notch customer service, excellent quality controls, consistent communications, and willingness to go the extra mile for us.

The work is good but if you have issues that they do not want to address then they will make it difficult for you to fix. They installed my enclosed deck. There has been problems with my screen from the beginning. It’s loose and sways when the wind blows. They have come twice to address but the problem still exists. Also had issues with birds getting inside which also resulted in water damage/mold. They came to repair the water damaged wood which resulted in mismatched wood. I had to request a fix for that which they made it seem to be a hardship. I’m still not happy with the end result. They just stopped calling me back. The salesman does not tell you about the hardship with follow through when there’s an issue. In fact, you’ll never hear from the salesman once the sale is final. A real disappointment considering they cost more than average. I thought I was paying more for quality and service excellence.

I recenlty worked with Prince William Home Improvement to replace my deck. I was comfortable with the customer service team. They were professional and informative. My sales representative, Niko, explained the philosophy of the company and the steps involved in the project. The daily updates, written by Patricia, kept me informed of the work which would be done on the project each day.
The gentlemen who built the deck, Juan and Alex, were polite, timely, and answered my questions. Their workmanship was excellent. The project, an elevated rear deck, was completed in three days. Juan and Alex worked long hours. I am highly satisfied with the outcome of the project!

Attention to detail, high quality workmanship throughout, and they actually left a clean work site when done (I am used to having to do a lot of debris cleanup after a work crew comes through the property). Not only that, but a better price to boot.

I cannot recommend Prince William Home Improvement enough! They installed a patio in our very small backyard and now we have a great space to entertain! It seems the yard has doubled in size!

In March 2025, we underwent a complete deck and patio renovation with PWHI. They collaborated with us to design a hybrid Trex deck and concrete paver patio. While the overall process was satisfactory, we weren’t entirely satisfied, which is why we’d give them a 3.5-star rating (google doesn’t do half, so 3 for here).

We encountered PWHI at the wine and chocolate festival in Chantilly. We registered to win $10,000 off a project. The following week, they contacted us to send a salesman to discuss our project preferences. One of their salesmen arrived, and from the outset, I felt uneasy about him. His proposed design was overly elaborate and would have required decking space to achieve a fancy appearance. We weren’t convinced by the design nor were we comfortable with the price or agreeing to a contract. Concerns about potential job loss due to the upcoming election added to our apprehension. I expressed my reservations, and he became increasingly rude and dismissive. He practically refused to leave our house until we signed the contract. I politely informed him that we wouldn’t sign that day, and eventually, he departed, still attempting to pressure us with the notion that “this deal won’t be available after I leave.” This further intensified my negative feelings.

A couple of weeks later, we received a call from PWHI. They inquired if they could send an engineer to discuss the project and explore potential solutions. The company’s owner had reviewed our project and expressed his willingness to assist us. We agreed to the meeting and discussed the possibilities for the deck and patio. They were able to modify the deck design and propose cost-saving measures that aligned with our budget, such as removing existing stone ourselves. We decided to sign with this engineer because the cost was significantly lower than the original salesman’s proposal, and he was very respectful.

The next phase was pre-production. Throughout this process, they were highly communicative and collaborated with us to ensure that the design perfectly aligned with our preferences. We made minor adjustments during this phase that resulted in some cost savings. However, this was where our second issue with PWHI arose. The measurements person who visited our house had made a mistake. The design we had finalized had the patio flush with the final deck posts and the stairs descending slightly further than the patio.The stairs we had designed appeared to be suitable, but the people who came to measure did not accurately measure the slopes. Consequently, they had to improvise during production.

Production was efficient, and the workers were professional. However, the biggest issue was the stairs, which stemmed from the improper measurement from the outset. Since the last step was too far from the ground, they had to construct a platform to ensure the project passed inspection. The platform they built is quite nice, but instead of building a proper retaining wall to support the soil where the platform sits, they improvised by bracing our old wooden fence with a few boards. This is a costly alternative that will require the fence’s replacement and is not a suitable replacement for a proper retaining wall. It was a cheap solution for them which incur additional expenses for us in the future, which we find unacceptable. If they had accurately measured the stairs and informed us of the necessary modifications from the beginning, we could have adjusted the placement of the stairs to avoid this entire situation.

In conclusion, the work they completed was of good quality. The workers ensured that everything looked neat and worked diligently on the property as if it were their own. They did leave some debris, such as a broken hose they brought, a few nails in the ground, and litter that was not collected, which we had to dispose of. However, compared to other contractors we have had, this was not a significant issue. Therefore, from the start with the sales department to the finished project, we would rate PWHI 3.5 out of 5 stars.

This company builds a very nice deck. We'll built and even the inspector was impressed by the work. Communication was lacking at times but the quality of the deck was outstanding.

Complete joke of a company, anyone who uses them must be getting ripped off. They gave me an estimate for an approx 20ft x 20ft patio, being built on level ground. The sales person wasted time fluffing up their company which was a flag to begin with and came up with an estimate of $70,000.00. Get real, they are a scam.

My wife and I live in the Kingstowne area and decided to replace the elevated deck behind our three story townhouse. The deck was 30 years old and in poor condition. We got three different quotes from three different contractors, and admittedly, Prince William Home Improvement's quote was the highest of the three. We informed PWHI that we would be going with a different contractor, and within an hour, Nick Rodriguez called and asked if he could do a home visit with us and discuss materials and pricing options. We agreed to meet with Nick the following day and are so thankful that we did. Not only did Nick price match the lowest offer, but he took the time and care to go over the different Trex materials, baluster options, and deck construction types. We ended up deciding on a Trex Transcend which is a higher tiered material than the Trex Enhance that next lowest priced company gave us in their quote.

I was extremely impressed by the level of personal attention that Nick gave us. He walked us through the HOA application process, explained the Fairfax County permitting system and filed the required permit on our behalf, worked with us to obtain a 12 month deferred interest loan with no upfront payments, provided us with professional drawings and renderings of the deck with dimensions and explanatory notes, AND followed up before and after installation. It's been 8 months since the deck was installed and it is in perfect condition.

The installation itself was smooth and efficient, with the deck being put up in the matter of two days. The foreman did an excellent job with quality control. Plus, they even took care to carefully pick up any nails and debris in the backyard so I wouldn't have to worry about my dogs injuring their feet. True professionals. Would absolutely recommend!

Worst experience we have ever had. The crew came back three times for doing work that was unsatisfactory ( butcher). They take zero pride in there work. The steps were out of level and the railing on the deck out of level. They couldn't build a gate to save there souls and they can't even make sure all the screws are in the railing and hinges. They said we will send someone back out and I said absolutely not. Never in my life do I recommend anyone to use this company. We spent a substantial amount and got an awful product. I will be passing the word on in my development for sure. Looks like someone chewed on deck boards instead of using a saw and post are all split. Yes and the work they done i would never have you come back. Look at the photos. Ridiculous

PWHI was an amazing company with which to work on our deck expansion. They had to fix the 'work' of a shady contractor and then created a deck we can enjoy for many years! Our expectations were more than exceeded in the professionalism and workmanship of this company!

The job started off very slow and there was some hiccups in the beginning, but the manager (Mr James Gardner ) did not make no excuses for all the dum things, that happen in the beginning.

Manager,Mr.James Garner took charge, and show that he was a man of his word plus more, I was surprised in 2025 that people like him were around, (Dinosaurs).

The warranty, that Prince William home improvement is very good.
Mr Gardner should be making a million dollars a year, he has a very gifted gab, and he makes sure the company stands by their word.

Worst experience I’ve ever had with any contractor. The guy comes to my home and is very pushy and aggressive about getting a sale right after he does the deck measurements. He offered a very high interest payment plan for a 10 year duration. It doesn’t end there. They will call you non stop when after you tell them you’re not interested and do not wish toto be contacted. I now know their numbers by heart with the amount of unwanted calls I’ve received from them over the past 2 years. Thanks PWHI

Omgoodness we had the greatest meeting with our design consultant Curtis Saxton. He was so informative, patient and understanding of our vision. He stayed with us right down to the last decision, making us feel comfortable and not rushed. I know he went over his time, but was so calm and ensuring to our needs. Prince William Home Improvements (PWHI) did an outstanding job in replacing our old multi-level decks with an incredibly well designed, new, screened-in, two-level deck with an A-frame roof. They initiated the process by sending their amazing representative, Akash Tailor, to our home to meet with us. With Akash’s excellent communication and sales skills, and his thorough knowledge of deck construction and products, he was able to walk us through a proposed design based on our vision. He also reassured us of the competence, integrity, and follow through through-out the construction process. He also accurately calculated the costs and provided us with a well-constructed contract.
He was able to immediately and thoroughly comprehend our design concept and was able to translate that into a polished draft rendering. Construction started and was completed on time. As a further incentive for us to sign the offer, Akash promised a firepit coffee table upon completion of the new screened in deck. He had the firepit table delivered immediately timed with the completion of the project as promised. The construction team of three men were highly skilled and did an absolute spectacular job in making a beautiful enclosed deck with a walkout open area for grilling and steps down to a lower-level deck. Other important team members that handled a myriad of other important tasks in such a professional and friendly manner included, James, Olivia, Patty, Christopher, Angel, and Mike—all were stellar individuals!

Based on our exceptional experience with PWHl, we would highly recommend their services to our family and friends.

My experience with Prince William Home Improvement has been getting better. I was not happy with them at the beginning. But, I must say that, they are doing a great job with helping to resolve my issues and getting me what I want. Miah A. has been truly exceptional. Always professional and very polite. Sam M. got the ball rolling on making me feel better about my project and they company. They have gone above and beyond with getting my project on track with something I will be happy with the end results. If i was just rating them it would be 5 stars. I'm waiting for when my project is complete to see where we stand. But nice recovery.

Above and beyond. Four years into the five year warranty, and they came out and fixed everything. Moved the items on the patio, laid new sand, cleared the weeds on the lights, and much, much more. Absolutely fantastic and treated our patio like it was their own. Well work every penny.

I’m a new homeowner with a deck built by this company, and I think they did a great job! However, the deck didn’t come with a gate. When I reached out to inquire about adding one, I was told it couldn’t be done unless I committed to a larger project, like adding a pergola or a cover—just to get a gate.

Frankly, that turned me off. I only wanted a gate that matched the deck, but it seems this company is more focused on upselling larger projects rather than accommodating smaller, standalone requests.

If you’re considering them, I’d advise you to tread carefully.

Update: They reached out to clear up the misunderstanding and offered to sell just the gate, which I can purchase à la carte or have them install for me.

In my view, they’ve redeemed themselves.

We met with Curtis Saxton Design Consultant at PWHI about two weeks ago for a consultation on a new deck. Curtis was very patient and took time to answer all our questions and concerns. He took his time to explain the process and the options we had. By the end of that meeting Curtis was able to lead us to a decision as he understood our needs and most importantly our budget.

Very Professional. From the time I called to inquire about their service to Cornell who came to my house to discuss everything with me, explained in depth about all the options, to the scheduling lady to the crew members. They were all fantastic. They always keep me informed. Overall I am very happy with the projects. My family came to see and they were very impressed. I greatly recommend them. We needed a deck built for our new construction and we went with PWHI because of their reviews and because they’ve been around for decades and seemed very professional. The design process was very thorough and we were able to see exactly how the final product looked on the computer before signing off on it. The permit process was easily and after approval it was built within a week! I was very impressed with the construction process and the work crew. There were a couple small issues nicks on the trexs boards we saw after they were done, but we sent a quick email and they were replaced within a day. Customer service was fantastic.

It was a great experience all-around with this company and the final product looks fantastic, is built extremely well, and will last for decades!

The work was fairly standard. Everyone was friendly and I appreciated them handling the administrative items with the county.

They weren't the most engaging when it came to consulting on potential deviations from the project. They also never finished our gutter. Basically they had installed it on the wrong side which resulted in drainage issues in our yard. The initial gutter connected to a pipe that went under the yard and directed the outflow outside of our property. Spoke with 3 separate individuals all of whom promised to get back to it. It's been over a month.

So not terrible work if you're looking for something cut and dry. Their enthusiasm pre-sales noticeable dissipates after the contract is signed. I would recommend their work but with caveats and tempered expectations.

Curtis Saxton has been here since 1pm trying to convince us with our new deck and we were able to work it out with him around our budget. He is patient, knowledgable and very helpful.

Curtis Sexton came out & was very informative & helpful with all my questions. It was an enjoyable process meeting with him.

They are a very expensive company . I cannot see paying 3 times the money to enjoy a patio. I want to cancel the contract on the patio before any work was done or any supplies have been ordered. I did miss the 3 day deadline due to life issues. It will cost $7750 to cancel because of their price gouging.
When i heard that, I needed to find an alternative to me losing the money. So I suggested them letting me use the $7750 to have deck stairs installed. They said "No" basically, cause it is too small of a project. I have tried lowering my price through purchasing the pavers and having them delivered myself and having PWHI install them. That is when I truly saw how much they are taking advantage of people.
The salesman pressures the sale and they keep you by charging soo much to cancel. There is more to tell and i will save the details for another review after I see how this all ends.

PWHI did a great job in demolishing our old deck, making some repairs caused by the old deck, building the new deck, and then re-attaching the existing electrical work that was under the deck. We're very impressed with the workmanship of PWHI's team. Once the permits were completed by Loudoun County they were able to do the work in a very timely manner finishing the deck in 2 weeks.

Curtis Saxton was our Sales Representative earlier this week. Amazing individual who took the time to listen to the needs of my wife and me. He then continued to work with us to hammer out a cost-effective deal that allowed us to take the patio of our dream and make it a reality.

We first heard of PWHI at a home expo show. Curtis came out to our house for a consultation; he was super knowledgeable and very passionate about his job. He went over the different products, workmanship do's and dont's, and how PWHI would deliver our dream deck. While we weren't able to pull the trigger on the project due to budget constraints, we were sold on the company and its work ethic. For anyone looking to redo their deck, give PWHI a call. I had a great start with Prince William Home Improvement, thanks to their incredibly patient and thorough design consultant, Curtis Saxton. Curtis arrived early and took the time to address all of our questions without rushing us. His focus on both safety and value was truly impressive. What really stood out was how transparent he was about the pricing—there were no high-pressure tactics or sneaky price increases. Instead, Curtis presented us with multiple options and explained everything clearly, ensuring we felt confident in our choices. He provided various options, and every time we asked a question, he didn't resort to sales tricks like raising the price of items to steer us toward a specific target.

He provided detailed insights into materials and supplies, offering straightforward information without unnecessary jargon. Curtis also took the time to explain how the company operates, emphasizing the accountability of their installers and suppliers. He even walked us through the warranty process and how PWHI stands behind their work and materials, which really instilled confidence.

I was kept informed throughout the process. Any issues that came up, mostly with the county, PWHI were right on top of them. Great experience with this contractor.

We used PWHI on our first deck so it was a no question who we were going with a refresh. This time around was just like the first time. They took care of all the heavy lifting and we got the beautiful deck. We extended the deck and added an enclosed room. We have used it almost everyday since completion. The staff on site was respectful of our property and the admin team was in constant communication with us. We love the finish product! We have no complaints working with PWHI for the second time.

Very professional sales and installation team. The company provided daily updates electronically which was very helpful. The company ensured that I got the exact deck that I wanted. I felt safe with hiring this company because it provided a lot of metrics regarding how they compared to other companies in the area and they were properly ensured. Our deck is our new favorite spot in (on) our home! The construction team worked impressively efficient. They arrived at the same time (give or take a few minutes) every day and left at the same time as well; their dependability and job site manners were appreciated. I also appreciated Patti reaching out each day with a project update keeping us up to speed with the progress of construction. I encourage you to be VERY thorough and ask an absurd amount of questions to your salesperson. Have them very carefully explain every single detail and make sure you're both on the same page before you sign. We had an issue that surfaced once we received the cad drawing and while it was a pain to get resolved, Luis offered a resolution that we were happy with. I will restate that we absolutely love our deck, and will consider PWHI for the next two phases of our outdoor projects.
