Prime Cut Landscaping

We have been with Prime Cut for four years. Matt's crew showed up for the first mowing this Summer. The crew leader remembers us from our first year, and is handling the yard work just the way we like it to be done. Young guy on the mower even cut our steep hill lengthwise which keeps the mower from scalping the crown.

We have been using Prime Cut Landscaping for over 10 years. We have utilized their spring/fall clean up services, lawn installation, flower bed construction and maintenance services, hardscaping of a walkway and most recently their insect control services. I believe they were instrumental in creating the curb appeal needed to successfully sell our first home - and as soon as we were under contract for our new home they were our first call! We continue to enjoy the services they provide and appreciate their knowledge and expertise to help us create our own private oasis! We will continue to utilize them as we grow our new area!

Prime Cut has been reliable and responsive for both my lawn care and snow removal needs. I have contracted with Prime Cut for the last 3 years and will continue to do so. Highly recommended!

I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY.
This will be a long review but worth reading if you're considering hiring this company.
Prime Cut was hired by my elderly mother and they did work for her for 2 years (approximately) until the end of the 2023 season. She was never happy with them. Sadly, my mom passed away last August at which point I moved into her home. Last fall Prime Cut was still mowing the property on her contract so I got to see for myself what kind of work they did. To give you a picture of my mom's property...the back yard is about the size of a tennis court and the front yard is half that. It doesn't require much work other than a quick mow (roughly 10 minutes) and a little debris removal every now and then. At one point during a wind storm a large branch had fallen in the middle of the yard and I watched the crew mow around it for well over a month before I went out and managed to drag it into the woods. Meanwhile, the grass under and around this branch had become quite overgrown. At the time when I removed the branch, mowing had concluded for the year so it has remained like that. When they blew the leaves, they often blew in the direction of my mom's screened in porch creating a cloud of dust that settled on everything inside it and required extensive cleaning/vacuuming afterward.

Fast forward to about 3 weeks ago, I reluctantly decided to renew Prime Cut's contract because I had so much going on with settling my mom's estate that I just didn't have the mindset to find another company. I called their office and requested a quote for mowing. I stated that I would NOT need a spring cleanup because I was going to take care of it myself and to just send me the quote for mowing...no blowing, no weed whacking, nothing. Just a quick, simple mow. The woman asked if I wanted weekly or bi-weekly mowing. Since the entire property is in the woods and heavily shaded, the grass grows very little so I opted for bi-weekly. I waited and waited and today, 3 weeks after requesting a quote I got not one but two. They emailed me a quote for a spring cleanup even though I said I didn't want one. And then there was the quote for mowing: $130 per single, basic, no frills mow! I thought surely that can't be right so I called and Matthew Corbeau picked up. He told me that the per mow rate is $70 if I have it done weekly. But if I just want it mowed every other week, the PER MOW rate is DOUBLE that (minus a tiny discount....how generous). I honestly had to ask him to clarify that because it seemed so ridiculous. He explained, "the grass keeps on growing so it costs more!" Huh? I was clear that the grass in a wooded area grows half as fast so a bi-weekly mow would be the same amount of grass growth as a weekly mow of grass in a more sunny area. His attitude was like, Nope. Sorry. All our equipment is expensive and we gotta pay for it somehow so we're gonna charge you almost double for not having your grass cut by us every week. His attitude when I spoke with him on the phone was arrogant and dismissive, as were his subsequent email responses.

Honestly, if this company was the only option, I STILL wouldn't hire them out of principle. In my opinion, they're greedy and unprofessional. The way they operate might be fine for large commercial accounts or super wealthy individuals who don't care about tossing a few hundred (or thousand) bucks away. But if you're an average middle class property owning individual expecting to pay a reasonable and FAIR rate and get the services you pay for, this company "ain't for you." If you have other options, I STRONGLY recommend you explore them before choosing to do business with this company.

Reached out to Prime Cut last year and was told by one of their office people they would come out for a quote 2 days later got an e-mail back from another office person saying they wouldn't be out after saying they would. This year reached out and got a denial right off the bat. I won't be contacting them period. I live in a moble home park where the lot is aprox 70' x 40' you'd think that they could squeeze a team into what would only be maybe 3 hours tops for a 3 or 4 man to clean up.

Over a month ago I called MATTHEW CORBEAU and Prime Cut to give me an estimate for Spring and Fall clean up. I have 3/4 of an acre of leaves and acorns I want raked up each fall and spring.
Never got an estimate, I called back today and was told that the company has just taken their last fall clean up customer on Monday. They are not taken anymore customers. I couldn’t believe I called over a month ago. Matt came and looked and said he would send an estimate, which he never did and now basically gives me “the screw you” because he has his quota.
Now I’m struggling to find a company to come do this. Thanks Matt.
There are way too many companies like this in Maine and they should be ashamed they are like this. Not very professional.

Unfortunately, we had the worst experience over the 2+ years we contracted Prime. Management is rude and not professional, it is what they say or the highway. They caused extensive damage to our property (curbing, plowed over our fire hydrant, damage to lawn) and refused to make repairs to it all. They also just started only mowing half of our lawn even though they were contracted to do it all? During the snow season, they would come two days after a storm (people have to get to work!), wouldn't clear driveways, and overall just had poor delivery of service.

Unfortunately, I found their service to be inconsistent and lawn/bug applications were not done according to schedule. I spent too much time calling and emailing them to make sure I got the service that I had prepaid for. Maybe its a result of the current labor shortages, but overall I would not recommend.

These whole crew/staff are amazing. The whole process from start to finish was super easy. The crew that delivered the rental dumpster was awesome and incredibly helpful. I would recommend them anytime, and we will definitely use them again in the future.

I just hired Prime Cut for a project on Pine Point. Matt was professional and flexible, coordinating around a tight schedule. Jeff did an amazing job, was very professional and went beyond our expectations for the work required. Their prices are reasonable. I would highly recommend this business and plan to work with them again on future projects. It is refreshing to find a local family owned company that takes pride in their work.

I’ve been using Prime Cut Landscaping for about two years now and I don’t regret a moment! Even during labor shortage, crazy weather etc They are here every week making our property look fantastic. I highly recommend them to anyone that asks and will be renewing my contract on the next cycle.

I’ve used Prime Cut for several years for mowing, spring/fall cleanups, and mosquito spraying. Their service is excellent and reasonably priced. Matt and Beth, the owners, are excellent to with work with and will always make time to accommodate special requests. I was hosting a party and they allowed me to reschedule my service for the day before so everything was fresh for day of. I’ve recommended to many friends and family and will continue to do so.

I’ll just say this. I didn’t even hire them and I’m leaving a review. They were working on my neighbors yard and did such a thorough job I couldn’t not notice. They came over a little into my yard to clean in order to make the whole area look good. Now that’s pride!

Prime Cut is fast and reliable and our yard looks great! They show up with a very nice and professional looking trailer and get the job done lightning fast. It was taking us over an hour to mow our lawn with a large percentage of it on a steep slope and if we had any energy left to trim and edge. These guys are here and gone in a flash and it's not a sloppy job at all but clean and thorough. I highly recommend!

I highly recommend Prime Cut for all your landscaping needs. I have dealt with many landscapers in the past, but the quality of the work from this company is unsurpassed. They did a fantastic job performing a Spring Cleaning and the prices are very fair.

Wow. We have been using Prime Cut Landscaping for our plowing for a couple of seasons. This year we decided to have Prime Cut do our full year-round yard work. It started with our spring clean up. I drove up to my house and couldn't believe it was my yard. It was the best spring clean up we've ever had - it 10 years of cleanups. Each time I drive up to my house, I'm still amazed and so proud that this is my yard.

We are so happy Prime Cut will be doing the full yard with mowing, gardening, and spraying for mosquitos/ticks and winter plowing/shoveling. I know they do a great job at plowing! I highly recommend Prime Cut Landscaping.

I moved into my home late last summer and didn't want to purchase a lawn mower for only a few more months while needing to do other things around the house. I contacted Matt at Prime and we set up a schedule for the remainder of the season. This spring I contacted them again since they did such a great job last year and have them mowing this year as well! They do an amazing job. I frequently leave my hose on the lawn and they move it every time. I don't have a huge lawn but they come with a crew and have it mowed, trimmed, and blown in no time. Other than seeing the grass shorter and pretty (they do awesome lines!) you'd never know they were there, they just get in and out so fast. Recently I had a cookout scheduled but it was a few days before Prime was scheduled to come. I contacted Matt again and his crew was able to come a few days early (on a Saturday morning even!) even though they were behind schedule due to rain earlier in the week. They've certainly gained a long term customer from myself, and I've talked them up to anyone that brings up lawn mowing!

I have had a terrible winter and because of an ailment I have strict restrictions. I am unable to move my car according to the usual protocol for snow removal. However, Prime. Cut is A company with a heart and common sense prevails. I could not move my car but they came through and did an OUTSTANDIING job. It’s wonderful to find a company who truly cares and their customer service was outstanding. Thank You, Prime Cut.

We have used Prime Cut for a few years now and could not be more pleased with their service. They are totally reliable, efficient and professional. The yard looks fantastic and it's so great to never have to worry about the landscaping. Always a "prime cut" at a great price! Matt is fantastic!

I called Matt because of a large snow drift all along the ridge of our house, and half way down the roof line...common this February 2015! We had cleared some of it ourselves, but found as 60 & 63 year olds, it was too much for my husband & myself. Matt sent a crew of 6 over and they took care of it in short order. I called on Monday, after a weekend storm, and there was a midweek storm, and by Friday sunset it was done....before the next storm coming in. Matt worked hard to get us fit in between the storms and all the other work they had scheduled. The receptionist, Matt and Matt's wife all could not have been nicer and more helpful. I would highly recommend them, and when we decide our large lawn is too much for us to cut, I will certainly give Matt a call

Very professional group -- they did exactly what we asked for. We were always kept up to date on timing and cost of services. We are very pleased with the end product and would highly recommend them.

The team is very professional, their work is timely and most importantly my yard looks amazing! When people come by the house they can't stop saying how great the yard looks!
