Needed a company to board up a garage that was victim of an arsonist. At the late hour Paul responded and was on site .He boarded up the doors and windows and returned the next day to board up the missing garage door. Did a great job in a timely manner. If fire strikes he would be the person to call.

Honestly, one of the worst experiences I've ever had working with a business. They lied over and over again. They delayed the project by weeks. The 3rd party contractors they sent out did sloppy work, were unprofessional, and left huge messes. I honestly wouldn't wish Paul Davis on my worst enemy.

Do yourself a favor and use *anyone* else.

*Update*

Since Google doesn't allow you to reply to replies, I just have to edit my review to follow up with your response.

1. We didn't go with you for the non-insurance work because it took 3 weeks to get a quote. By the time we got one, I had waited to weeks, then got 2 more quotes, and got the work finished.

2. Our insurance forwarded us all the communication. You consistently lied about sending everything in. You said it was sent when it wasn't. And when it got sent, you sent incorrect information that made the process have to start over (where you lied about sending it in again).

3. There weren't "a few items" — there was about 40% overcharging — which I've hesitated to call "insurance fraud", but if it's not, it's a severe lack of attention and utter disregard for your customers, as they were only removed after I requested it, got a second copy that was still wrong, then waited three weeks to get the final corrected invoice. There was $2,700 worth of work (on a $7,000 job) you were trying to get paid for but never completed.

Lastly, I just wanna say how interesting it is you say you "sincerely apologize" here in the public review — because in our back and forth over the last couple of days, you didn't apologize once. In fact, you repeatedly lied about having never spoke about any of this — but got real quiet when I sent you all the screenshots.

Apology not accepted.

Had a shakey experience at first, but come to find out it was with insurance company communication with PD. I spoke with the owner, Stuart, who has been a pleasure to work with. Brennan was our site guy for the mitigation portion. Everything went very well and looks great.
We will be using them to do the reconstruction portion also.

Kalum & Ronnie called in advance to give me a time frame of their arrival. They arrived, went straight to work, and finished in a timely manner. They worked efficiently and with a smile. I would certainly recommend them.

I worked with Greg and his team to mitigate and pack out my house after a tree fell on it. Greg was very helpful and very calming in what was a very stressful situation. He was able to get people in that same day to start the clean-up. He was great at communicating and letting me know what was being done. Once the mitigation was done, Savannah and Greg and their team packed up all of my belongings to go into storage. The way that things were packed and stored appeared to be done with great care. Thanks to the Paul Davis team much of home was able to be cleaned up and look almost normal. I appreciate Greg and the team for all of their hard work making something awful feel a little better.

One of the worst experience of our life. We had mold issues and had tenants. PDR was referred by Insurance, project started well but then they kept expanding the issue and it took them 4 months. Brennan was good but hard to reach. Kaelei was very rude and never let us talk directly with Brennan unless there was an increase in scope of work. We lost lot of money because of using them. Be very cautious before using this company especially if you are not in the state. Our insurance also made a comment that the way they scored the project seemed unreal and they were quoting so high and added too much material cost which didn't make sense. Only good people I worked with from this company was Savannah from Contents department who was very professional .We still have few things that they broke such as missing parts for the sink and countertop was damaged and we are having someone else fixing it. I will never use this company again and would use extreme caution.

Unfortunately we had a property insurance claim. However, from the great folks at the water mitigation team, to the project managers Eric and Karen made the repairs happen, and truly pleased with the final results.

We had a small (by comparison) water damage remediation job and were referred to the company by our insuror. They did a great job - very professional, courteous, thorough, and knowledgeable. They kept us informed every step of the way and communicated with the insurance company for additional needs. I would highly recommend Paul Davis Restorations for anyone with similar needs.

We had an outstanding experience with Paul Davis Restoration. Their team efficiently restored our basement after two sewage floods and promptly addressed subsequent water issues post-pipe replacement. Punctual, fair, and honest, they exhibited true professionalism and provided exceptional customer service, consistently going above and beyond. They are trustworthy and reliable. I highly recommend their services.

I have been fortunate enough to only have had one restoration experience, so maybe the standard is a drawn out process that leaves you craving the end instead of full resolution... We had two toilets leak through our ceiling in late August - the job was “finished” in mid November.

It has been a constant chase, with the theme being a lack of communication/expertise. Their restoration department had to replace broken dehumidifiers on 4 different occasions, which they continued to say “we (Paul Davis) needs to service these more.” Every time I had to call them back, there was never an apology, just further inconvenience on our side.

They scratched our hardwood floors excessively on one side, didn’t raise it until I discovered it, then took 3 phone calls to get a single response that they’d even repair it - then scratched our floor on the other side of the wall doing the exact same thing.. I suggested putting padding down after the second instance - they responded “oh, good idea.”

They raised a “second leak spot” right at the end of the job that was 3 feet from the first leak and was somehow missed for 8 weeks, then told me as a “courtesy,” (lol) they’d help dry it out.

And finally, they didn’t finish the job. Our bathroom got a new tile floor - with hit or miss caulking, damage to the walls where they removed the vanity, and gaps in the baseboard. I’ll be hiring another third party to fix this.

If you’re in the unfortunate position to need a restoration company, I’d look elsewhere. If not, I hope my experience was an anomaly.

I don't even know what I can say for how this company has helped my home along with my family.
When we had concerns they addressed them and assisted the best they could to remediate a mold issue that occurred from a bad water heater.
5 stars is to low in my opinion and I hope whoever needs their services feels the same way.

Jesse and Derek were incredible! Derek was the original project manager and was a wonderful communicator, he got the initial part done quickly and efficiently. After Derek’s portion was complete, we had the pleasure of working with Jesse. Jesse provided some of the best customer service we have ever experienced and was a true champ while working with a difficult situation. He was in constant communication with our team and ensured the project was completed to everyone’s satisfaction during the final walkthrough. Would very highly recommend!

First time I had experienced water damage from an AC line that busted in attic causing damage all the way down to first floor. The demolition team was outstanding making sure everything was protected. Sheetrock, painting flooring and electrical all completed as scheduled. They worked great with my homeowners and stayed in touch the entire time. Karen was a dream to work with organizing every step of the way! I can not say enough good things about my experience. I would highly recommend them to anyone. My nightmare turned into an ease having Paul Davis of Richmond West End handling it all from start to finish. Thank you !!

Stuart, Brennan, and the entire team were great to work with throughout our repair and restoration. We had a plumbing leak that required the removal a cabinet and our electrical panel, and repairs to our ceiling and walls. PaulDavis worked with our insurance and did all the coordination with plumbers, electricians, and painters that was required to help put our kitchen back together. Since so many parties and steps were involved it took longer than any customer would hope, but in the current environment we knew we needed to be flexible and just stayed in consistent communication with the PD team. The team always did a great job of cleaning up at the end of each day and were very professional. We are very happy with the final product, which looks as it did before the leak!

They fixed our house after our refrigerator leaked through the kitchen flooring and through to the ceiling of the basement and the basement floor. While the repairs did take longer than expected, our project manager was very responsive and made sure everything was done/redone correctly.

Excited to have this company fix a water leak in my roof that I have had an issue with for some time now. They came on time with several men on the team ready to troubleshoot and repair my issue. My repair will take more than just this visit but I was impressed with the customer service from this first visit. They listened to what has been occurring and got to work while explaining things along the way. They professionally secured the hole in my ceiling as they have to return to finish the work and cleaned my kitchen of the drywall dust. They even did a mold treatment on the visible mold they saw. I feel confident in this company for the services they provide and feel like they are very competent!

Thanks! I had a great experience with Paul Davis. I had a 2 inch flood of water in my townhome several weeks ago, after hours. I contacted your organization immediately and was contacted back by Neil Parr, your project lead. He and Sean and team came and set up blowers, dehumidifiers and floor system that night to dry things up as quickly as possible to try to save the hardwood floors. They checked on me daily and came by two other times to check the equipment. It took about 5 days but they saved the hardwood floors from having to be torn up. I was pretty amazed they were able to remediate this damage and the floors look great! Sean was particularly helpful and attentive to my time as well as my questions. One thing that set you apart from other service providers in my mind was the willingness of your team to meet with me at my convenience rather than me working around theirs. I know this isn't always possible but I appreciated the extra effort since I work from my home and run a business. They came in to take meter readings on the floors on several occasions. They worked quickly and limited any inconvenience to me as much as possible. I do still need to have a carpenter come to re-install my toe boards and put panels on my cabinets as well as patch a small sheetrock hole behind the refrigerator where the water pipe broke. Thank you so much for your awesome help and assistance at a very stressful time. It really made a difference!

Excellent customer service and attention to detail. Paul Davis handled the remediation and restoration and did a great job. I was always able to reach their staff with questions or concerns. They also fixed several minor issues quickly and correctly. They worked with my Home Owners Insurance company which required little effort from me.

“Neil was on site with in an hour and got his men right to work in cleaning up the water. A sprinkler system pipe was inadvertently hit installing new cabinets. Thanks to Neil and his team there was very little damage to the house. He was able to get the house back to normal with in a week. I am very pleased.

Service questions
1. Should I stay home during roof replacement?

It's not necessary to stay home during roof replacement. Roofing work is noisy and can cause vibrations inside the house, which might be uncomfortable. Most homeowners choose to leave during major parts of the project, but our team ensures safety and keeps you updated, whether you're home or not.

2. How long does roof replacement take?
+-

The timeline for a roof replacement typically ranges from one to three days, depending on the size and complexity of the roof, weather conditions, and material type. Larger or more intricate roofs may take a bit longer, but we always aim for efficient, timely completion.

3. How to hire a roofing contractor?
+-

To hire a roofing contractor, start by researching local companies with good reviews and proper licensing. Request quotes from multiple contractors, verify their insurance and certifications, and ask for references. Always ensure you get a written contract that outlines the scope of work, timeline, and payment terms.

4. How to check if a roofing company is legit?
+-

Check if a roofing company is legit by verifying their business license, insurance, and local certifications. Look for memberships in professional associations, read customer reviews, and ask for recent project references. A legitimate company will be transparent and provide all documentation upon request.

5. How to choose a roofing company?
+-

When choosing a roofing company, consider their experience, customer reviews, warranty offerings, and quality of materials. Make sure they provide clear communication, detailed estimates, and a solid portfolio of completed projects. Local expertise is also a major advantage for understanding regional roofing needs.

6. How do you know if your roofing contractor is ripping you off?
+-

Warning signs that your roofing contractor might be ripping you off include vague contracts, pressure to pay large upfront deposits, lack of proper documentation, and unexplained price increases. Always ask for itemized estimates and written guarantees, and avoid contractors who avoid answering your questions directly.
