This is a horrible company .We called our insurance when we saw a little water lickage on our living room ceiling. They came and placed some heavy fan They said they want to dry it and gave us an estimate for a very high amount whereas my personal handyman fixed it for 700$ .One week later they got their machine back .Byt they had send us invoice for 900$ .We were astonished and tried to tell them several times that they did nothing to fix our ceiling but they kept sending us invoice and even blackmail my husband that we have to pay because he signed the paper on first day .I don’t know how ethical it is to get money from people like that .very very bad company and do not let them get in to your house they will rob you for doing nothing.
In reply to your comment:
There was nothing that you guys did to prevent further damage .My roof was already dry.Your company did nothing to make it dry .We have said that many times to your people that keeps sending us bill . Still if you want us to pay for the huge fan ( which has only created hassle in our life) we are ready to negotiate but your team can’t impose unnecessary bill on our head for doing nothing on top of that blackmail us .That is simply unacceptable.

If i could leave them Zero stars i would!! My ceiling was leaking and got in the wall. Paul Davis put me in contact with Irving which is a terrible employee jerking me around with the times that the teams were meant to be there. They left a hole in my ceiling for months and made me sleep in my living room for almost over a month. When it was time to do the reconstruction Paul Davis was supposed to contact the property manager for permits. After a long wait i contacted the property manager myself just to find out Paul Davis never contacted them for the permits. The property manager send a different contractor and got it fixed from Thursday to Saturday.

Terrible communication and service from Paul Davis

Highly skilled/competent, caring people and a company that puts their customers first. Truly, an amazing experience. In time of crisis, the main thing that someone needs is care and concern and to know that everything will be OK. Paul Davis Restoration is that company. You hope that you’ll never need them, but if you do, you will be in the best hands.

From the beginning Pablo with Paul Davis was very professional and kind. So far everyone has worked hard to make sure we understood what was going on. We met with Fred from Paul Davis today and he also was very courteous and explained their process step by step. I would highly recommend their company to anyone that is looking for a Restoration company.

My wife and I had contracted Paul Davis Restoration to remediate a few holes in our townhome walls that had been opened to fix some water damage. Our project coordinator, Chris was thorough in communicating expectations, timelines, and costs throughout the entire process. The onsite work of sealing the holes and painting by Jimmy and his team was also performed efficiently and to a high quality; our rooms looked better than they did originally. During a year where it’s been challenging to find reliable contract work, Paul Davis Restoration did an excellent job and we would highly recommend their services.

Despite a very stressful time for us, Paul Davis Restoration made the water mitigation process a tolerable experience. Pablo, EMS Crew Chief, was at our home within a few hours of my call, and he came back for 7 days straight, always explaining what they were doing, what to expect and what time he would return the next day. He communicated with the claims adjuster and us, so everyone was on the same page. I hope we never have this experience again, but I know who to call if we do!

If you’re seeking stress, their services are the way to go. I had a PM assigned to me with terrible communication skills. Despite my HOA’s insistence on using their services, I discovered that the materials they quoted were significantly lower than what my insurance assessed. Moreover, the labor and overhead costs were 30% higher.

Initially, I had planned to have them work on my kitchen island at my own expense. However, I’m glad I reconsidered. The quote I received was a whopping $7K, excluding only the installation of cabinets, countertops, dishwasher, and plumbing. In contrast, I found a different company that offered a much lower quote. They provided me with a new faucet, workstation sink, and garbage disposal at their expense.

If I could, I’d give them a zero-star rating. However, I must acknowledge that they did link me up with a reputable flooring company who performed an excellent job on the installation.

We have waited months for Paul Davis to come repair our floors after a leak. They repeatedly had excuses for things not happening. Then they told us the project manager we had was fired for being incompetent. Finally they were supposed to start work yesterday. They showed up and ripped out our floors in the basement. Then we waited today for the workers to come back and no one showed up. We called and texted the project manager Chris. He finally got back to us and told us they don't have our flooring in yet and he didn't realize. So now we have a third of our house unusable. The supervisor Dan said the project manager claimed he let us know they didn't have the flooring yesterday and that they offered to put down ram board. This is all lies. I offered to show him the texts and phone log and he didn't care. It will be at least a week until they get our flooring in, still waiting to hear when for sure, and the supervisor let us know that this was all the original plan to have our floors delivered over a week after the other ones were torn out - which is clearly another lie and doesn't match what they told us at all. They also forgot to add in the stairs and foyer we asked them to do. The same project manager claimed we didn't want it done because insurance didn't cover it. Another complete lie so our stairs and foyer will now match nothing else in our house. When you point out the lies of the project manager all the supervisor has to say is he is "relaying a message." Avoid this place at all costs! They are slow, incompetent, and liars.
Update: Paul Davis came a week and a half after ripping out our floors to install. They got done for the day and said, by the way we ran out of flooring because we didn't order enough. They let us know they figured this out the week before but didn't bother to tell us. Then it took them another three weeks to get the rest of the flooring. It's laughable that they claim my husband and I were misaligned. We were not, it's another lie and attempt to avoid accountability. It's also funny that they are pretending the owners care because I called corporate and the owners were supposed to call us and never bothered. Basically this company avoids talking to you so they can lie about what happened. They then did damage and said things were broken before and they would send pictures to prove it. We never received the pictures and all the sudden they agreed to fix it. Incompetent liars.

This is a top-notch company. We hired them a second time because they did a such great job the first time--and we were not disappointed! Every member of the staff seem to go out of their way to be helpful. A special thank you to Laine!

Paul Davis has been horrific to work with. We go for a month without anyone responding to us or providing updates on our work schedule and then will send over various work crews without coordinating with us while I have a newborn baby and 2 dogs at home. When they actually do come and do work it’s always subpar and they have to send in additional crews to fix work (like tiling over water lines and doing incomplete jobs). I wouldn’t recommend them to even my worst enemy. It’s been a taxing project that has almost taken 6 months to complete. I will say the work crews they have sent have been so nice and great workers, but clearly have not been provided clear directions which has led to issue after issue making this project last much longer than needed. This project has taken years off my life and I hope to never see them again once it’s finally done.

I had an excellent team servicing my home. The timeliness of the service, the excellent communications, the knowledgeable interactions, and the patience were all top tier. I am not putting reviews for this certain place but in general they are worst people to deal with. NEVER go to Paul and Davis they will make you wait for 2months for the stuff that can actually get fixed in 2 days. And they will charge tremendous amount for the job which only deserve like few hundreds. They put the floor in my bathroom which doesn’t even match to me cabinets so now every time i go to my bathroom it reminds me of my mistake which is to hire them to get the things done. Horrible service.

I was very pleased with the team Paul Davis sent to mitigate and repair my water leak damages that destroyed my bathroom ceiling. The team was very professional, punctual, and proficient. My bathroom ceiling is as good as new. Kudos to Fred Chopin, Beth Anne, Pablo and Carlos for the excellent work and patching it up so swiftly!

Had a disaster on a Sunday night where our basement got flooded. I contacted our insurance company who sent out a team from Paul Davis, who arrived within the hour and went to work in the basement. They brought fans, dehumidifiers and assessed the issue. 4 days on the equipment is still there drying out our wooden floor. Great service and professionalism.

This is the absolute worst set of "professionals" we have ever encountered. We had the misfortune of getting paired with them through an insurance claim in August via Liberty Mutual. It is now March of the following year, and we have been awaiting a refund of many thousand dollars for materials that was paid directly to Paul Davis by our insurance company (but owed to us) for almost 6 months now. Despite sending email after email and calling every individual assigned to our project daily or weekly, no one has the professional skillset required to follow up adequately. They will promise you things over the phone, and just never follow up after. Even though the contractors themselves were decent, I would absolutely never recommend this organization to anyone needing restoration or renovation work because of the abhorrent project management and accounting departments.

In the complex process involving multiple parties—my insurance, the condo's insurance, condo management, and the restoration company—I found that one party stood out for their exceptional accommodation. They provided unparalleled support and understanding throughout the project, distinguishing themselves as the most cooperative and helpful participant in a challenging situation. Highly recommend their services for their professionalism and dedication.

Our Insurance company bypassed our quotes to use this poor restoration company. They sent field rep, Mitchell Walters who dropped every ball on the project there was to drop. His Manager, Rebecca Brown also made repetitive excuses for his lack of followup and she herself sent us out of office notices weekly nor communicated that she would be moving on to another position within PD. I had to find out from her manager months later. We were ghosted for months and the last I heard from PD was September until a few weeks ago. Her upper manager, months later reached out to clean up Mitchell Walters’ mess of overhanging projects. He was following up after Mitchell’s departure the company and wanting to work with us. Are you kidding me?! I gave him a real world view as to how a company and consumer partner and how PD did not live up to their promises. Their employees lack honesty, followup and follow through. There are internal issues top-down in this company. Mitchell apparently left a mess of unserved projects. His 2nd tier manager admits only realizing the true issues weeks ago where for us, it had been months. At that point, we had already filed a complaint at corporate. To gain context of how long we hadn’t heard from anyone, we had our kitchen and floors completely done. PD use multiple vendors (ex. can deliver the countertops but no sink)and complete deliverables. They will tell you they had a meeting and will followup with excuses with weeks gone by promising to so better with no real output. Further, underpricing the work to insurance companies. I am a business owner and there is no way you do business this way. I cannot in good faith recommend this company nor should anyone use this company for your home restoration. PD needs to revamp business internally, hire quality team, and make it right with their customers.

Flooding occurred Feb 2023 - April 2024 still not fixed - avoid!!

10/9/23 - The most inept organization I've ever witnessed. Major scammers. I needed a simple bathroom re do, but they damaged 2 different replacement tubs, didn’t screw in plumbing all the way which caused another leak to occur and thus had to order a second replacement vanity, terrible paint job (got paint on my personal belongings, hammered in nails and painted over them), chipped my ceiling with a ladder… the list goes on. Go with someone else if you need timely restoration. I’m out of money for hotels and they can’t even send a plumber same day to address an ongoing leak!

Update 11/10/23 - They are officially offering pay me out because they can’t do anything right.

Update 11/21/23 - Still no bathtub, vanity, floor or toilet.

Update 11/30/23 - Still no bathtub, vanity, floor or toilet.

Update 12/14/23 - Still no bathtub, vanity, floor or toilet. Project managers refuse to take their jobs seriously. Careless contractors who continue to break things.

Update 12/21/23 Work is still not complete. It has been 12 months. PDR is denying cutting holes in my walls and has not returned to finish work. Many fixes to be made still. Project managers are now stating "I'm not their client" and the Owner of PDR emailed me asking to take down my review. Beware of this business!!

Update 1/23/24 - Left holes in my walls and they refuse to come back and take responsibility. Left my house a mess! Officially telling PDR to not come back, pay me out, and looking to hire someone else to finish their job!!

4/4 - they still haven’t finished work and deny responsibility for damaging my unit

Horrible experience, completed demo and 6 weeks later I can barley get them answer the phone with a gutted kitchen and two small kids with no stove. 3 consecutive project managers on our job either fired or quit. Seem to have serious internal issues at the company. Everyone just keeps punting to another employee and NEVER return calls. Was referred to them from our insurance company and we are now stuck with them to complete the job. The only thing they are good at is sending out bills for work they they can not even answer the phone to discus completing. Please do yourself a favor and stay away.

Update it is 8 months later, and the project is still not finished with, lost hardware, multiple sub contractors of all skill levels having their hands in the same project, causing confusion and subpar repairs. I can not understand why an insurance would refer clients to what turned out to be such a sketchy company..

I was very pleased with the service I received all around from the Paul Davis of Nova team to help get my home back in order after a washer overflow situation. The scheduler, estimator, and project manager (Jeff, Eamon, Trevor) were all very responsive and followed up in a timely manner and made it super easy to get insurance approval by handling the process. The crew who repaired my ceiling and floor were were organized, thorough and respectful of my property and the workmanship was top notch. Not all contractors are reliable like this and it made the experience so much less stressful for me. Would def recommend PD for your water damage restoration/repair needs.

New Review: The Team at Paul Davis Restoration, stellar/amazing!!!! Extremely professional!!! Extremely friendly!!! Highly knowledgeable!!!! Fully transparent!!!! After the initial, amazing, work they did after water damage in my home, I knew I had to have Paul Davis help future upgrades…cabinet and banister upgrades.

I informed Rebecca Brown about the look I wanted (1940’s vintage mahogany) and she colored matched the staining of my cabinets perfectly. Dave Honaker along with Rebecca got their team geared up to start within 24hrs after my approval of proposal (fair pricing too I must add!) My cabinets and banisters are beyond perfection today. Project is still on going but what has transpired thus far is a tear jerker for sure!!!

The work I see so far today is EXACTLY what I imagined. When contractors do great work and it’s worth every penny I give kudos. And everything is perfectly clean when they leave for the day…OUTSTANDING!!!! KUDOS Paul Davis Team!!!!!

Cannot wait to see everything come together in the coming days. Along with the flooring and granite countertops, all thru the aid of Paul Davis Team…Rebecca Brown, Dave Honaker & Fred Chopin!!!!!

Previous Review: Paul Davis came and addressed issues that were caused by a separate contractor. They swept in within an hour of being notified by my homeowners insurance. Addressed the water damage issue set up equipment walked me through the entire process of water, mitigation and what would need to occur with renovations. It was continuous communication with the project team and management. I have never seen a contractor in 20 years provide this level of customer communication. I will definitely be utilizing Paul Davis for future remodeling on my home that I proactively want to initiate. It’s just in this one instance it was fixing damage by another contractor, so not something I anticipated doing. But overall I am very happy with Paul Davis restoration (their communication, material available to pick from for restoration and overall craftsmanship for installing said materials). I would highly recommend them to not only other homeowners, but I will be recommending them to my clients that are in the engineering construction industry.

Unfortunately I have had previous experience with PD when my wife's condo flooded, twice. When my house flooded PD was my first request, but you were not on the preferred list for State Farm. I had to fight to get you and I'm glad I did, because you were the only choice for me.

Responsive, trustworthy & professional.

Thank you so much for making a bad situation a little easier. I look forward to the estimate and possibly working with you as I continue fixing my damage.

Shout out to Hernan, Ricky, Peter, Tristan, and Anthony who did a fantastic job taking care of mold remediation in our basement office and kitchen/main floor hallway. They worked quickly, were extremely communicative prior to and throughout the remediation process, and left everything neat and tidy at the end of each day and when they completed the job. I hope we never have to experience any of this ever again, but if we do, we will definitely be calling Paul Davis.

Paul Davis was assigned for water damage mitigation/clean up. The team is very friendly and was responsive to our calls/questions. However, we were ultimately disappointed with their lack of judgment and unwillingness to truly investigate the damage. In our case, water leaked from a toilet and exited the side of the house about 15 feet away. They only wanted to treat the area around the toilet and the exit point without exposing the 15 foot path the water obviously had to travel. They said their sophisticated equipment couldn't detect moisture... they were wrong. I ultimately had to pull up the subfloor myself so they could see the water underneath that saturated the joist so much that it took 10 days of blowers to dry them out. So much for sophisticated equipment. If they had only used good judgement they would have known what really needed to be done... instead they settled for the bare minimum and only things insurance would 100% cover. Ultimately they finished the remediation but lost my trust and therefore I did not use them for the repair work and wouldn't recommend you do either.

If you are looking for a pro/con list for Paul Davis then read on..

The positive - Paul Davis (PD) is quick to be at an accident. In my family’s case they were the only restoration company there after an accident from our tenant damaging the deck and main floor of our townhouse in April 2021 (around 600sqft of space) That may be the only positive we encountered in 16 months with them..

The negatives – Timelines are meaningless and are just a lick in the air. They provided us a timeline to be originally finished by November 2021, the project was ultimately finished at the end of July 2022 (16 months later). Our home sat for weeks on end with nothing being done and we emailed/called/texted any way we could to reach anyone at PD. They just provided excuses, false new timelines, or ignored our calls.

The other negative is poor project Management/program Management. They passed us on from one manager to another and each ignored our request to obtain power at the home. As a result, our home sat without power from April 2021 until almost January 2022 as they did not apply for the permit with NOVEC until December 2022. PD blatantly ignored our concerns. I had to pay NOVEC directly so they could release the paperwork in order for the construction crew to start restoring power to the home as PD said it would take PD an extra 10-14 days to process a check to get this paid to NOVEC. They also approach materials for the home as an afterthought. They waited until 8 months - December/January 2022 to start securing materials for the deck rebuild.

Another negative is the quality of subcontractors is poor. The majority of the work is completed by subcontractors yet their contractors could not apply the permits correctly throughout the project. One applied the plumbing permit onto the deck permit which kept getting denied. PD went through 3 plumbing contractors to get the issue fixed while the house sat with nothing being done for practically 2 months.

Lastly, the cherry on top…On Aug 30th 2022, PD sent a non-detailed invoice for over $23,000 for supplemental work, after we had paid the entire originally estimated amount. Thankfully they had to go through our insurance adjustor and the settled on around $3,700 in additional monies owed (after 8+ weeks).

Be wary of working with this company. I would not recommend Paul Davis to do any work on your home. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere, they are just ambulance chasers. They can’t do the work in a timely manner and you will spend most of your time babysitting them.

Overall we had a good experience. They worked directly with our insurance which made things easy. We are very happy with the quality of work as well. If I had one criticism, it would be that communication about when work would start could have been more proactive on their part as I had to ask for updates on this. That being said, our repairs were not an emergency situation so it was no issue to wait a bit.

I contacted them about some damage around windows, water leaking in and causing drywall and paint damage. They stated they would be able to service this issue when I spoke with the national office but when I was put in contact with the local office in Ashburn the individual stated they wouldn't be able to do anything until the cause of the leak was found and repaired. So the parent company says yeah we can do that just to pass it on to a subcontractor who honestly didn't sound interested in the job from the start.

The Paul Davis restoration team was amazing! Particularly Christine Byles, Fred Chopin, and Laura Matthews - they handled my entire project professionally, quickly, and were always graciously responsive to my needs. They treated this project as if it was repair work being done in their own home, and consequently took extra care to ensure everything was done correctly with minimal interruption to my home! I would hire them again for any related work that I might need in the future.

The team at Paul Davis did a great job for me. The team of Laura, Fred, and Christie were responsive and helpful to me. They showed a personal interest in getting my work done. They worked with my insurance company to be sure the amount I paid was accurate. The subcontractors they used were on time, completed the work in a timely manner, and cleaned up everything. One contractor that cleaned the carpet even brought little "bumpers" to be sure the hose did not mark the wall on its way to the basement.

If I could give zero stars I would. This company is a complete joke and the sad part is I’m writing this review almost four months later and they haven’t even started my project yet. Communication with their so called “project managers” are abysmal some would say non existent. This company will play every trick in the book on you to make them not liable for anything. I’m scared to let them in my home for the small restoration of our bathroom just seeing how they have handled everything so far. Don’t waste your time or money with this mismanaged, dishonest, and fraudulent company.

Update to 2024 - we used Paul Davis a second time to repair damage caused by a leak from a second floor bathroom into our pine-paneled family room. Unfortunately, during the repair of the tub leak, a hole was created in the roof above the bathroom. Paul Davis to the rescue by securing the roof until all the materials could be obtained and insurance hassles worked out. Our Project Manager, Vidal went above and beyond to do a perfect repair on the roof and the family room ceiling. My only concern is small, but it communication with clients. Some companies are recognizing that communication is an integral part of customer service and should be rewarded. Everything else is better than expected.

Wonderful job, matched the pine in our 100-year-old plus home beautifully!
