I used John and his colleague (son?) based on the recommendation of my effective father in law for a wall opening project between my kitchen and living room. I respect that he honored a 3 year old quote I received from him. However, the job dragged on for weeks and months. He openly complained about having to wear a mask for covid-19 mitigation (while cutting sheetrock?), so I often left the house so he could choose not to wear one while I was out. There are a lot of little details that are the kind of things I can live with if I'm saving money doing a job myself, but not when I pay a professional. Things like not puttying the nail holes or using primed wood, minor scratches from dragging tools on my floor without a drop cloth, corners not lining up, hammer dents in my remaining sheetrock, the framing, and baseboards, unnecessarily chopping up my spare threshold... No hard feelings, but I won't be using John again, but do think there are probably projects he could excel at. Mine just required a little too much patience, precision, and creativity.
