They answered all my questions directly and clearly - no vague answers or runaround. They gave me an accurate quote, had me on the schedule for the following week, kept me updated with regular progress and photos, and did an amazing job! This is the best contractor I have ever had in over 30 years of home ownership. Charlie Fowler - one of the owners - was my daily contact. I had roof damage causing an interior leak and he came the same day in very bad weather and fixed it literally saving my house interior from serious weather damage. I hired them immediately to completely reroof, replace two skylights, install all new gutters, and to replace most of the aging aluminum cladding on my house. The work began within several days and was finished in a week. The quality of this extensive exterior work was truly amazing and supervised by Charlie continuously. I will never hire anyone else for any future exterior or interior work.

Excellent company. Superior continuous gutters and experienced team to install it without a hick-up. One tricky downspout issue was easily resolved. When they left, everything was clean. Getting an estimate was a breeze. Saw the work they did on a neighbor's home and had to use them. Quality of materials and workmanship is a big step up from the typical gutter installing company.

After a discovery of mold in our attic slowly unveiled a leaky roof and a host of other problems, we found ourselves facing a confusing world of conflicting contractor opinions and wildly different proposals. Thank goodness we found Charlie and New Dominion Exteriors. Our interactions with them were a breath of fresh air during this stressful time. Charlie was insightful and practical, never pushy, and devoted to ensuring he had provided both quality products and quality service. Unlike other companies that aggressively push to sell you a new roof, Charlie was careful to not over-sell or rush things. In our case Charlie pointed out that only part of our roof needed to be replaced; the roof over a first-story remodel/extension was newer and undamaged. He also was careful to consider where our roof decking did and did not need to be replaced. In addition to installing a new roof, Charlie was able to help us think carefully about what was and was not needed to support proper airflow through our attic, and to handle the installation accordingly (in our case, replacing our attic fan and removing an unnecessary ridgeline vent). We also had Charlie replace our gutters, as we had been intending to eventually switch from 4" to 6" gutters anyway. His team was able to seamlessly connect the new gutters to the drainage system we'd had installed a few years before. And when one portion of our gutters along an oddly-shaped roofline still had a slight drip, Charlie came back out and fixed it himself at no additional cost. I've inspected the work in heavy rain and everything is holding up wonderfully -- this was a huge upgrade in quality and workmanship. We are very pleased with Charlie's team and we are happy to highly recommend New Dominion Exteriors. We'll certainly be going back to them for any future needs.

After talking with 5-6 contractors and receiving several quotes, we decided to contract with NDE who offered us very reasonable pricing to have our homes' storm damaged aluminum siding replaced with vinyl siding. We also had new gutters and screens installed and 3 bay windows and all the wood exterior trim boards capped.

The work took about a week to complete. Without fail, the siding crew was here by 7AM every workday, started by 7:30AM and finished at dusk. A very high level of skill was exhibited by the crew throughout and their installation was top quality. Of particular note was the exceptional brake bending of the aluminum trim coil performed by the crew chief Mr. James Lee. The crew worked hand in glove communicating, measuring, making and installing the formed capping. In addition, Carlos' team performed gutter and gutter screen installation and did an outstanding job. NDE worked around a late delivery of an exterior door we purchased separately. NDE returned to install the siding after the door installation as discussed early on, and they also promptly addressed some water issues caused by heavy rains during the installation period.

Charlie was responsive to our needs, meticulous about the details and did an outstanding job communicating with us throughout the process. As with any job of this size, communication, explanation and expectation are key to a successful project and Charlie made it easy. We are very grateful for finding such a gem in NDE!

It is notoriously difficult to find a reliable home improvement and repair company. I found New Dominion to be prompt, courteous, professional, and true to their word. They were responsive to questions by email and telephone. In short, they were all I could reasonably ask for. They replaced gutters, fascia behind the gutters and soffits under the roof overhang, which on our house are quite large. I recommend them highly.

For siding replacement, we did interviews with four contractors . We went with  Charlie Fowler at New Dominion Exteriors and had a great experience. He was a good listener and bid on what we wanted to do (no annoying up-selling). Price was very fair and his experienced crew did good work, finished early, and cleaned up afterwards. We hired NDE in the past to replace missing shingles on our roof due to inclement weather prior to replacing the entire roof. At that time when he came out to inspect the roof for missing shingles, he assured us that a new roof replacement was not needed and only recommended replacing the missing shingles.

However, after a recent wind and rainstorm, a claim was filed with our insurance company to inspect the roof for replacement. Charlie met with the insurance adjuster on site to assess the damage and missing shingles. He was truthful in stating that a roof replacement was necessary. He was diligent to follow up during the insurance claim process to obtain additional funds from our insurance company for the required work.

He and his team worked meticulously to complete the roof installation to perfection. He was on site to manage and help in any way (even at the conclusion of the project to help with the cleanup). We are extremely pleased with the outcome of the job and the roof looks incredible! Charlie was exceptionally pleasurable to work with and his crew is superb. We highly recommend NDE and would not hesitate to hire them for any future project.

Charlie was personally invested in the project: he worked with us to nail down the details of the renovation, supported us in securing funding through the City of Fairfax Neighborhood Renaissance Project, and then personally oversaw all aspects of the work, including making sure that the crew was happy and well-compensated.

Compared to other companies (I got quotes from 5 roofers), Charlie stood out as experienced (in both roofing and his previous work in remediation), well-spoken (in an approachable, non-marketer way), and reasonably-priced (especially after some standard negotiating).

I reached out to Mr. Charlie Fowler of New Dominion Exteriors the day our insurance sent their approved estimate. He responded within a workday and continued to respond to any questions with the same timeliness. We had our rental condo roof replaced with New Dominion and communicate/timeliness of working with Charlie was painless. He worked with me (in California) and renter, once I got the approval from the HOA it was done within a week or so. Excellent work, reasonable pricing, replaced my attic fan, painted the vents/chimney stack, reinstall the existing gutters and clean-up. He even mentioned to my renter about the noise and toddler naps, so she made arrangement to take him to a friend's home for his nap. I would recommend this company, hands down.

Upon recommendation from a neighbor, we interviewed Charlie with New Dominion Exteriors about remodeling our full bathroom in a 1940's home. Charlie knows historic homes in NoVa very well and was a delight to work with; he understood our vision through a shared Pinterest board, helped us organize materials from local providers, and helped us ensure the best quality for this remodel. Though his team is locally known for roofing needs, they do select occasional remodeling projects within their scope. Charlie constantly updated our family about project details from pre-remodeling to post, including a thorough clean up of construction areas. Every employee of New Dominion Exteriors exceeded expectations. A friend of ours who is in the remodeling business dropped by and commented on the professional and high quality of the work - "just like I would do it" was the highest compliment from someone 20 years Charlie's elder. Throughout this process, we chose to stay in our home and work with friends to host our pets and get showers. Once demolition was over, we were able to continue living at home with our pets out of the construction area. Now we have a delightful Scandinavian inspired full bathroom, just as we dreamed. Charlie Fowler listened to what I wanted, assessed the project objectively, answered my questions and then followed through with a prompt, clear description of what they could offer and the exact cost. When I made the decision to proceed, he followed through promptly with execution of the project, complete attention to detail, photo documentation of what was found under the old roof, and then clear no nonsense recommendations of what could and could not be done to address it correctly. They completed the job in a single day with respect for my property and cleaning up meticulously after the project was complete. Loved the responsiveness to my initial request for quote. Multiple trips were made to our home to drop off a sliding color sample book, answer questions and review options. Once the install was scheduled, there was consistent communication on deliverables and timing. Crew came on time and clean up the property before leaving, Nothing was missed.
Final but main point, they were honest. There was one portion of the work that ended up not needing to be done, so it was pointed out and deducted from our final bill.
New Dominion Exterior was not the cheapest quote I gathered, but again I'm so glad we followed our gut and went with them for this project. I called a few places to install some gutters on my house, and this is the company I had to the job. They did great work! I no longer have a waterfall over my porch when it rains. Their price was very reasonably compared to my other estimates. I worked with Charlie who is very knowledgeable and honest which is another reason I went with this company. In the spring time I'm going to have them do some more work on my house. I should have went with them for my roof, because I was seriously price gouged by this other company. I know New Dominion Exteriors would have been cheaper, but I listened to my neighbor and went with the company who did their roof. Anyway, this is a great company who I will be doing business with again.

Can’t say enough good things about Charlie and his crew! From the start he was super responsive and was out right away to give me quotes which were in line with others I received. He gave me some great recommendations which saved me thousands of dollars and then hung in there with me as we battled with my insurance company for 3 months. Feel like most contractors would have walked away for such a big hassle. He was on site, on time and responsive every step of the way and in the end, the quality of the work was great too. Will absolutely work with him again and would highly recommend this company because at the very least you can feel safe working with someone who is trustworthy and fair, not just looking to run up a bill.

I am strict about getting multiple quotes, but from the beginning, Charlie with New Dominion was by far the most likely to get my business. The best contractor in 33 years, and we've seen many! If I could give New Dominion Exteriors 100 stars I would. Charlie Fowler the owner, is excellent– a rare dedicated person you never find these days. Furthermore, he was trustworthy, attentive and meticulous in replacing our roof and some of our gutters. The job was executed professionally and promptly. Charlie notified us and kept us up to date during every step of the project. The project was finished on time and did I mention Charlie's
price was competitive. Another contractor recommended by a friend wanted over $7,000 more! Charlie himself even participated in the clean up, which is cumbersome with thousands of nails and debris. He wanted to leave the property exactly as it was before his arrival. We so much appreciate all of his hard work. We have a gorgeous roof first class Certainteed roof that updates and beautifies the home, plus we have functioning gutters! We are educated home owners who vet and choose our contractors very carefully. We knew we wanted to give the job to Charlie when we first met him in the fall of 2019. We wanted gutter covers. Charlie, being knowledgeable was honest and advised us against purchasing them because the pitch of our roof was too high. You have to respect a guy who walks away from a job rather than sell us something we would not be happy with. New Dominion Exteriors installed a new gutter system for my house in April, 2021. Charlie, the manager, promptly responded my initial inquiry. He stopped by on the following morning, made a proposal and estimate on the same day. After a week of comparison with several other vendors, I decided to choose the New Dominion mostly because of their attentiveness. Charlie and the team came in a week later, and finished the job in half day. After almost two months of the installation, the new gutter system sustained through several heavy rains, small showers and high wind. I am happy to give their work with 5 stars.

We have used New Dominion for replacing our house sidings. Charles Fowler was of immense value to us from the beginning. To start with he suggested we talk to our homeowners insurance since be noticed hail/wind damage. When the insurance adjuster came he was there. Charlie also helped us with paperwork and interacted with the Insurance company in getting the right payment. When the work started, New Dominion finished the work in 2 days (ahead of schedule) and cleaned up the site right after. The workmanship looks very good and I have no qualms about recommending New Dominion to prospective customers.

With a large project you kind of expect issues at some point, but I honestly can't think of a single thing that went wrong. Charlie and his team were great! I loved how humble and honest Charlie was during the estimate process. New Dominion Exteriors rebuilt the exterior of our home and made it maintenance free following a very rare tornado that struck Leesburg, Virginia, in early February to set off a series of frustrating episodes with our insurance provider. After reporting the damage – that impacted numerous adjacent homes (including one that lost the front porch and part of the roof along with chimney – a contract insurance
“adjuster” arrived after several days. Inexperienced with insurance claims and over the age of seventy, my wife and I allowed the “process” to continue. After a month, a “settlement” was determined and the complex (and complicated) list of approved repairs arrived and included approximately $100 for roof repairs along with funding to reattach missing siding. The highly complicated computer website remained a mystery to us as our point of contact, the original “adjuster”, had moved on to new employment. And all of this began to unfold as the COVID-19 lockdown developed and far distant insurance personnel began to work from home with probably limited access to their computer databases.
As we were considering a home equity loan to get repairs completed, particularly the damaged roof that was beginning to leak, New Dominion Exteriors’ owner-manager stopped by to inquire about the reasons that our house was the only damaged home in the tornado-affected neighborhood that had not been repaired. After hearing the problems and seeing that we were seniors, he became our advocate with the insurance provider and the contract adjuster company to arrange a second and more comprehensive review of the damage, all of which were complexities we couldn’t manage on our own. Even accompanying the adjuster during the second damage assessment, the second review resulted in a settlement that was literally ten times the amount of the initial survey – saving us from incurring substantial debt from a home equity loan.
In the end, our home had a new roof, new (and greatly improved) siding, new garage doors, new gutters and all of the exterior of the house is maintenance free – essentially a new home. Special mention must be made of Mr. Lee who managed the team of siding installers. He was an amazingly hard worker (and his age was nearly the same as mine) and his attention to detail was unmatched.
Would I recommend New Dominion Exteriors? Absolutely – and I have done so already. I intend to write an article for the Disabled American Veteran magazine regarding the financial disaster we were facing when New Dominion arrived on the scene.

Everything you would want from a contractor, you can expect to get from New Dominion Exteriors. From start to finish, there's literally nothing I can complain about. They answered all my questions very quickly, everything written down in the contract was done, and they even suggested ways for me to save money on my project! Really great experience to repair our siding with Charlie and New Dominion Exteriors. They had terrific services and did a beautiful job to match/paint the new siding to our existing siding. Very professional, honest and trustworthy. Would hire them again with our future home improvement needs!

I contacted New Dominion Exteriors for a bid on replacing our existing gutter system on our primary home. I was contacted by Charlie on the same day I made my request. He came out took the measurements and provided me with a winning quote. I had great communication throughout the process with Charlie. He went above and beyond and answered all my questions and offered very sound advice.

We scheduled the job to begin at 800 a.m. and Charlie and the entire crew started the job right on time. The job was finished in four hours and the quality of the work is exceptional. I cannot say enough good things about New Dominion Exteriors from start to finish it was a seamless process.

Really great experience with Charlie and New Dominion Exteriors installing soffit, fascia, siding and gutters for our home. Communication from Charlie was exemplary, minor issues (mostly outside their control) were dealt with transparently and quickly, install team were fantastic, and everything looks great. Charlie is exactly the kind of business owner that customers want to work with. He has now completed two projects at our home (Installed new gutters and 6 months later installed a new roof on our home and on our gazebo). He showed up to our home the day that I emailed for a quote and was professional but not pushy. New Dominion Exteriors has helped me out on TWO water leaking related situations. The first was an unexplained leak we discovered after renovating our master bathroom. I had roofers out who couldn't solve the problem. NDE came out and took the time to test out with a hose all possible avenues of the water leak & diagnosed the problem. They were able to quickly replace any damaged facia board & installed new larger gutters to prevent future issues.

The second time they helped me out was when our dishwasher over flowed, leaking into our ceiling and completely destroying our garage. Charlie came out right away after remediation and put together an estimate quickly for our insurance during COVID-19. It was immediately approved & they started work the next week. NDE's team worked quickly so we could get back into our home, & fixed everything beautifully. After the job was complete they left our home clean (which is always a problem with contractors) and looking better than ever.

I met with Charlie Fowler, on a Friday , 4/24/20 to review a water issue we were having on our property. Charlie identified the issue as under-sized gutters, and recommended that we increase the size to account for the amount of run-off. After examining the gutters, it was determined that the gutter color was not standard, and would need to be special ordered. He told me he would contact the supplier, and get back to me by Monday, 4/27 to see if the color was available. He contacted me on Monday, said he could get the color, and much to my surprise, asked if I wanted to schedule it immediately due to the significant amounts of rain expected over the next few days. Charlie was more interested in protecting my property that I could have imagined. He and his crew showed up this morning, replaced the gutters just in time as we started to get rain again a few hours later. I would highly recommend Charlie and his team at New Dominion Exteriors. We've been working for 6 months to stop water from intruding into our sunroom. Charlie figured out the problem with the siding in place and had a crew out to fix it the next morning. It rained hard this week, and no water! While out, the team saw and fixed a minor roof issue and a minor siding issue on another side of the house. We will definitely use New Dominion for any future roof or siding issues.

During my very first consultation with Phelan and Charlie to redo my basement from an unfortunate flood, I knew they were going to be the company I selected. They met with me to review my damages and provided an honest assessment of what needed to be fixed and what could be salvaged. At no time did I feel pressured to select them and they didn't try to up-sell me on anything. Since they have years of experience working with insurance claims, they took care of most of the correspondence with the insurance company after I filed the claim. During the construction phase, their workers were always on time and they completed my basement in a timely manner. Since my basement was gutted due to the flood, I had a blank slate to make modifications from the original layout. They were flexible with the changes I wanted to make and provided expert advice on how to make the best use of the space. Phelan and/or Charlie came by my house almost on a daily basis to check on the progress and ensure I was satisfied with the work. If I had any questions or issues, they would respond to them immediately. The final result was a finished basement that looked better than before the flood.

All of my subsequent projects with NDE ran just as smooth as my basement project and I've been satisfied with all of their work. I'm not sure if it was just good timing, but they always seemed to be able to start my projects within a week or two after I signed the contract. I trusted them so much that I referred them to my parents after a portion of their fascia was blown off their house during a wind storm. The fascia was part of a discontinued proprietary system from the builder that connected to the soffit and roof. My parents contacted three different companies to fix the issue, but none of the other businesses could repair the issue within the insurance claim budget or didn't know how to replace the discontinued proprietary system. NDE spent a few visits to assess and research the issue to create an acceptable replacement solution that looked fantastic.
