Great work by Murphy Contracting. Rafael installed vanity tops, did shelf woodwork under kitchen sink, new bathroom flooring, some plumbing and fixed door trim. Great quality work and very professional. Will definitely hire again for any odd end jobs we have. Highly recommend!
I needed an interior wall and door put up in the basement to create a bedroom. A relatively simple job. I like Matt and fully expected a successful project. Unfortunately, the result was surprisingly poor quality.
I paid the balance due as soon as they were done, assuming, incorrectly, that they would take care of the problems. My bad. The crew made one trip back to fix things, but the result was still completely unacceptable. The following are examples of how it was left:
1. They had burned a six inch hole in the carpet when they tipped over their work light. Despite promises, this has never been resolved.
2. Paint from baseboard seeped onto carpet. Could be cleaned but wasn’t.
3. Paint was slopped over the hinges and handles and glass on the door.
4. Left gaps when trimming and re-installing drop ceiling tile.
5. Baseboard trim did not line up in the corners.
6. Gaps where baseboard meets door casing.
7. Paint globs left on woodwork.
8. Door trim nailed up before door hung so hinges couldn’t be made flush in the door jamb.
9. Door handles installed crooked after painting.
Perhaps the simplest summary of the work quality came from another workman I hired to fix these issues. He said the previous work was “amateurish”.
