If you're considering buying from Mungo, I’d recommend looking at older homes you can update instead. Their homes may be fine for entry-level buyers seeking an affordable option, but if you're moving up into an average or above-average price point, I would be cautious.
If you do choose to build with them, monitor the construction process closely. Corners are often cut, and inspections are rushed—important details can be missed, which may cost you later. Be prepared to advocate for yourself throughout the process. Mungo prioritizes speed, and if you don’t speak up, many concerns will go unaddressed.
In my experience, the warranty managers have been helpful, but their involvement is limited—most coverage ends after the first year. We bought during a time when inventory was scarce and needed a home quickly. Now that there’s more available on the market, I wouldn’t recommend buying new from them.
Let someone else deal with the early issues. If you're looking at a Mungo home that’s 3–5 years old, it could be a good option—as long as you hire a trustworthy, experienced inspector to catch anything the builder may have missed.
No matter what, make sure you have a realtor on your side and insist on getting your own inspection. Contact the inspector directly and make it clear that quality is more important than speed. Just keep in mind that both the builder and many realtors want a fast closing, so stay alert and don’t rely solely on their guidance.
Mike and Rachel from Mungo Homes are the absolute best! They made buying my dream house in paradise an amazing experience!!
