I contacted MLK roofers to help find a small leak in my roof. They couldn’t find the leak, so instead they repeatedly tried to pressure me into replacing my entire roof. Another contractor and I have found where the leak is and are working on fixing it. Don’t call MLK if you need help with a leak, because they’ll just do a cursory glance at your roof, and if they can’t find it they’ll try to get you to spend 10’s of thousands of dollars to maybe fix it. My issue was that the tarp on my roof wasn’t properly sealed over the edge; I’m glad I didn’t follow the advice of this terrible company.

MLK CONSTRUCTION, LLC were very professional, communicated well with us, did properly all the work needed on our flat roof, according to our contract, and cleaned up very well after they finished their work. The three workers, Alex, Cale and Will were courteous and thorough in their work. Affordable pricing. We recommend them highly.

I’ve had a great experience with Matt and his crew. 6 years ago, they put a new roof and gutters on my house. I recently called them out because I had a small leak upstairs and a gutter that was starting to come off the side of the house. I was technically just out of warranty, but they fixed the gutter and attempted to fix the leak for free anyway. It turns out the leak was caused by a bathroom fan vent installed by a different contractor later on, but they still tried to salvage it for me. When that didn’t work, we lined up repairs at a reasonable cost and they took care of it. I made it through the recent storms leak-free now that it’s been properly repaired. Definitely recommend these guys.

Josh was fantastic. I showed him all the water spots we were seeing, he took lots of pictures, then thoroughly checked my roof. Another company that came out told us we needed a whole new roof despite the roof only being 8 years old, but he was able to diagnose the issue and fix it same day. I would absolutely recommend working with MLK, they’re honest, thorough, and easy to work with.

Excellent roof replacement done by a very professional staff. ALL
debris was cleared. NO nails left in yard or alleyway, which was not the case with other contractors. Very reasonable price for excellent workmanship. We recommend this company to all neighbors and friends.

As a real estate agent I have used MLK Roofing for my clients roofs and am currently working with them as well for my own. They show up when they say they will and they do what say they will do at a fair price. That is difficult to find these days. If you need a new roof or not sure, give them a call. Had wind damage in April and my insurance adjuster gave me the option of choosing a contractor for the repairs. I found MLK Construction online and the favorable reviews were good enough for me to give them a chance. All I can say is that I was totally amazed with the superb service and high quality work performed. Jeff and Matt were very responsive to any questions and concerns that I had. If I would need any service in the future that MLK Construction can provide, I will certainly call them. Thanks so much to their entire staff for the outstanding work.

Guys, if you need any roofing/construction work done on your home, I cannot recommend this company enough! We have had our share of contractors not showing up on time, leaving a mess, saying they would be there at a certain time and showing up hours later, etc., etc. MLK was nothing but the consummate professional from the get go. They came out in a timely manner to give us our estimate; made suggestions on other work we could have done; worked with us, and our budget; went to the exact same paint store we used and matched our paint colors for the work they were doing; showed up exactly when they said they were going to; worked at least an eight hour day; cleaned up the work area at the end of every day; and we’re careful not to disturb my garden too much. The completed work is above our expectations and looks great! I have to mention that our house was built in 1865 and the work they completed was on a dormer on the third story, so NOT an easy task! They sent me at least 30 pictures in a google photo album before, during, and after that work. These guys are the real deal! 

I have zero complaints with the work, cost, or customer service provided by MLK Roofing & Construction. They evaluated and worked with us to find a leak in our roof. It took a couple of tries but that's what happens when the job is a 110+ year old home. I would recommend to my closest friends and family.

We had a flat roof replaced as well as repair of extensive damaged wood under the roof. We shopped around a bit and found MLK to be the most reasonable in pricing. They provided a few options for types of roofing and were very clear about the possible extra expenses that might come up due to the extent of damage on our roof. They provided photos of before, during and after. The team was respectful of our property and cleaned up very well when they were done. I would absolutely recommend them for flat roof replacement.

We were out of town when we had a small roof fire. MLK came out immediately and did a temporary repair. Then they came back to repair the roof structure and replace the entire roof. Great job, easy to work with and workers cleaned everything up.

We have hired MLK Construction for several jobs. Our roof top, our Mansard roof, etc. They always do a great job and outshine our expectations, and I am very picky. They will show you pictures of everything and explain what is wrong and give recommendations. The first time we hired Matt, we consulted with a few companies. He came to our house, explained the situation and gave a very honest and upfront recommendation and quote. We will continue to go with him. Our house is 150 years old and he is keeping it whole and beautiful.

I compared bids from many roofing companies, and MLK was the only one that offered a bid I could believe in. The others were way too low, way too high, or being bid by someone unprofessional. The repairs were great. They sold me exactly what I needed, did great work, and didn't try to oversell with a bunch of useless extras. MLK offered many ways to communicate - phone, e-mail, docusign. They were responsive. I never had to hunt them down to get information. There were weather delays - like all outdoor jobs, - but they followed through with completing the work in as timely a manner as weather would allow. I did think the business was named after Martin Luther King Jr, admittedly - the man or the street. I really wanted to use a homegrown St. Louis business, and I thought MLK Roofing may have once been located on MLK - a nearby street - or even be named after MLK. Now, I figure those are the owners initials. Nonetheless, they are a local business. In fact, it is a family business, and I enjoyed talking to the matriarch whenever she would answer the phone. They treated me and my home with the utmost respect, and now, they are my first choice for questions or repairs to my roof, gutter, or siding.

Matt and the MLK team are professional, knowledgeable, and provide quality work. They took the time to explain work needed along with before and after pics. Their high level craftsmanship showed in their work. I would highly recommend MLK.

Without a doubt, one of the best home renovation decisions I have made in the past 30 years has been to use MLK Roofing and Construction for a new roof - and with improved venting.

Matt and his team were superb from beginning to end. Matt Kettner (MLK) is personally involved and communicates all along the way from inquiry to bid to roof installation to wrap-up.

The quality of work was simply the best - including improving past ridge venting, adding new vents, changing old out-dated vents to more up-to-date vents, and installing an attic exhaust van as requested. And, my 1915 built house has old house nuances that Matt and his team had the patience and skill to manage through as needed.

The MLK roof installation team could not have been any better and the clean-up was amazingly good. And, there is a lot to clean up when an old roof has to be ripped off.

Matt was committed to the project as if it was his own house. MLK strikes the right balance of not being too small nor too big of a roofing company when you just become "another job".. MLK and his team were professional and personable at all times.

Please avoid at all costs! I chose this company based upon reviews which were false. I hired the company to fix a dip in my roof which was causing a leak. The original guy who was assigned to my house ended up not being with the company after which also delayed the work being done on my house. The company sent a set of new guys to my house who literally spent less than 30 minutes doing nothing that was quoted in the contract. The guy even told me he couldn’t find the issue. I brought him inside of the house to show that there indeed was damage so that he could locate the spot where the work needed to be done. Instead of looking again, he and his team left. Yes, left without even telling me. To them the job was done. I called the company and told them that I was unhappy about the service and that I was still concerned that the job was not completed. The owner literally was the most unprofessional person to speak with. During our call he told me that I was basically stating that they were trying to scam me and that I didn’t want to pay. He even reassured me that his team did work on the house. I have cameras on my house and can prove the amount of time the guys were there and I didn’t say I didn’t want to pay. I only wanted my roof fixed. I was expecting a professional to call me with a solution of coming back out to review the work for my satisfaction and didn’t get that. My fiancé even called to speak with them and the first thing the guy said was “what did she say”! Like are you kidding me. If I can give anyone any advice, please avoid this company at all costs. I literally just threw away money.

Matt and his team was super helpful and very responsive via email. They provided plenty of pictures from the inspection and also from the repair. It was quality work and also reasonably priced. I would definitely recommend!

I requested an estimate for a flat roof in Nov. 2020. I received a reply requesting additional information on the job and promptly replied to the email. Kim noted that they are running "7-10 days to come out and do the inspection". It's May of 2021 and I've yet to hear anything from them.

I had a full roof replacement, and although my insurance was insanely slow, MLK did an amazing job and in good time as well - weather permitting. There were a couple of mishaps which I investigated on my own after the job was complete, and after sending pictures and explanations, Matt came out personally and inspected the work. By evening the crew was back out there and fixed everything up to high quality with brand new replacements. I am highly satisfied with the quality of work and accountability of MLK. I would highly recommend them for your next roof job.

I had a great experience with MLK Construction. They redid my flat roof for a reasonable price, pointed out what needed immediate attention and what could wait. They were prompt and had the work done within 2 weeks of inspection. They called when they couldn't come one day due to rain to make sure I was aware. They cleaned up as if they had never been there. Matt included before and after pictures and was very professional. I will use MLK again.

These are the people you want if you have an older house, in Soulard, Lafayette Sq. etc. If you want it done right you can count on them. Pictures taken at every step of the way showing what is done. Couldn't be happier and you won't go wrong with them.

Contacted them for a few missing shingles and some crooked ones I could see on my back dormer. They were able to assess the job and make a bid while I was at work, and even identified some other shingles that needed fixing not visible from the ground. After the work they sent me photo documentation of the repairs they made, and the price was very reasonable. I can't recommend this company highly enough!

We recently used MLK Construction for some "small", but important repairs to the exterior of our house. They added/repaired/tightened, and caulked window wraps on our windows. One was missing completely and water was getting in. They also replaced the damaged rear downspout, and patched some areas of our front built-in gutter, which I think was leaking and rotting our cornice. It took a couple months to get on their schedule, but when it was scheduled, they came as promised and finished quickly. They took and shared many before/after pics. Give them a consideration next time you have an exterior project.

I was Worried affordability, Mlk was the right roofing company to go with, did an amazing job , when most companies told me the job would take 3 days some said 6 , Mlk took one day . Then gave me a follow up visit to make sure they were please with their own work and ask if I had any issues. The stress of finding somebody to stay in budget with in reason and not do a bootleg job or run off with my money weighted heavily on my mind, For I was negotiating this for my mom . Thank you mlk , will recommend to friends and family.

MLK is one of the best contractors I've worked with. Matt Kettner and his crews have worked with me on a range of projects from flat roofs to complex roofs, on roofing, soffit, fascia, dormers, and more. Their work is always high quality and when there are issues, they go above and beyond to make things right. His prices are always competitive, but it's Matt's responsiveness that made me come back. He answers the phone, gets bids back in a timely fashion, and will actively communicate scheduling. Don't think I'd go anywhere else on future roofing jobs.

I asked for a roof quote on the house I purchased a few months ago just so I could start planning for the expense. In the seller's disclosure they said that they thought the roof was around 18 years old but had no documentation. Even after I relayed this information to MLK, Matt let me know that the roof actually looks more like 10 years old and that it probably has 5 or more years left in it. I got another quote and while they didn't say the roof was in bad condition they didn't say anything about it being in good condition either. I definitely appreciate the honesty and will most likely use MLK when the time comes to replace the roof or gutters.

We had been having problems with progressively worsening water damage on a wall beneath our chimney. I called MLK to come take a look and they responded quickly and checked out the roof. Apparently the flashing we had "repaired" 2 years ago was not properly fixed and the roof put on by the previous owners of our home was poorly installed. The workers took several photos so we could see the damage for ourselves and it was not pretty!

Matt gave us the less expensive option of patching just the problem area of the roof, but was straightforward that it was only a temporary fix. Ultimately we decided to go ahead and get a whole new roof. Matt drew up a very reasonable bid and the work was completed quickly. He was in touch every step of the way, and responded to questions promptly. I really appreciated the "after" photos he sent so I could see my pretty new roof and exactly how the damage had been repaired.

Were to busy to even come out and look at a repair that was needed, not worth their time according to person that answered the phone at the office. Actually asked the question, "so, you don't want to look at it because its not worth it because its just a downspout, ok then"

I've been using MLK Roofing/Matt Kettner for many years on multiple rental properties. Whether it's a repair, or full roof replacement, he's always quick to respond. Work has been top quality, and his crew always takes lots of before, during, and after pictures so that you know exactly what was wrong, and how it was fixed without crawling up on the roof yourself. I would highly recommend this company.

Pro. 1. Fast to get work done. Within 2 weeks from Inspection to work done.

2. No more leaks. I used to get a lot of leaks, and that is fixed.

3. The price is upfront and clear. With cheaper options for a quick fix or more expensive replace all fix.

4. Very informative about every step to keep you updated.

Cons.
1. Still have not have an office set up yet. That maybe solved in the future. It would be great to visit their office if anything comes up.

Overall. It is a good roofing company.

MLK roofing did a great job with repairs and estimates . Provided professional pictures of work done. Very efficient and knowledgeable. Would definitely use this company again.

The heavy rains this fall wreaked havoc on my old flat roof and skylight. A full tear-off and replacement aren't in the cards for a couple of years, but Matt came up with a great solution that will see me through. He is super-professional and responsive, and the quality of work is of the highest standard.

MLK provided over 100+ pictures of the work they performed on my historic home and updated me along the way, working in and out of my family's schedule. This is the second roof tha MLK did for us. Two different projects, one in the north side in 2013 and one in the south side in 2018 (city of St Louis). Matt and his team did an excellent job both times and were able to accommodate our tight schedule. Highly recommend for all roofing needs.

I've had three projects completed with MLK Construction, and I could not recommend a better company for your roofing needs, especially if you live in the city and have an older home.

I am currently living in my first home, and don't know the first thing about roofs. When I moved in, I had water damage on my ceiling right where the chimney was located on the roof. I was unable to tell if it was an active leak or the plaster had come loose previously and hadn't been fixed. I had a bad feeling that I was going to be "talked into" a completely brand new roof from the multiple roofing companies I had inspect the leak. Matt was very honest and straightforward with what I could repair as I was not wanting a brand new roof. He was the most reasonable bid I received from multiple roofing companies.

Matt's team added counter flashing to my chimney and made other mortar repairs to my brick chimney that could have been letting water in. Matt is very customer service oriented, and his company does quality work. He was thorough in explaining everything to me, and provided complete documentation of what work would be done. I highly recommend him and would definitely hire him again for any of my roofing needs.

Matt always does phenomenal work and sticks to his budget. I've went back to him for 3 projects now and he's always made sure I am completely pleased with his work and he sends pictures of the work after it is completed. Overall 10/10 best roofing company I've ever dealt with.

After difficulties with another contractor, Matt (owner) and Jared (project manager) came in and were outstanding. The work from each crew that came to the house was efficient and of high quality. I would highly recommend MLK for roofing and other needs.

Greg was thorough and professional, answering all my questions when he came to estimate the work on my roof. He took the time to go up onto the two story roof which has a steep pitch. The work was done in a timely manner, for slightly less than the original estimate. Repairs included missing shingles which could have been potential leaks in the roof. The replacement shingles are a pretty close match in color. I would recommend this company to my friends.

Could not have been happier with the service and honesty from Greg and his team at MLK Construction. Had additional roofing companies come out as well for what we believed to be a simple fix to a leak from the roof onto the ceiling upstairs. Other companies wanted to replace the entire roof, but Greg took the time to actually look in the attic and go onto the roof and fix the issue quickly. Couldn't be happier...no more leak!
