We selected Maryland Custom Construction to remodel our kitchen. We also wanted to replace our flooring with solid hardwood. The one deciding point for selecting MCC was the fact that they are a one stop shop. They use subcontractors as required but everything goes through a project manager. Our remodel was recently completed and we could not be happier. Kenny was our project manager and was in contact with us almost daily. We worked with Steven on the initial design and he was very receptive to our concerns and input. We decided on a two -tone layout with hickory hardwood flooring throughout. Lighting was an important aspect and Kenny came through with an impressive lighting scheme with numerous recessed LED lights, along with above and below cabinet lighting. We eliminated the "L" shaped countertop and replaced it with a stand alone island. This design really flows, especially with the upgraded quartz countertops, farm sink and dual fuel range. The professionalism of the work crews was second to none. All floors and surfaces were protected during the work and clean up done every day. Derek was the lead for all aspects of the hands on work and is a highly skilled craftsman. He would quickly resolve any issues we brought up throughout the project. A few minor items were identified during our final walk through and were immediately resolved. The project was completed on time and in accordance with the original quote. We would most definitely use MCC for any future projects and would strongly recommend them for anyone planning any remodel jobs. Thank you MCC for a fantastic job!

These guys are awesome! Good work! Easy to deal with! Weekly updates all the way thru! They put a brand new bathroom in our basement, from scratch. We got multiple quotes and they were reasonably priced and very responsive. We WILL use then again!

From the very beginning I was impressed with MD Custom Construction. Every detail was brought to my attention. Mike explained everything from the permit process to all the inspections that were to be done. They let us pick the materials we wanted, and listened to all the ideas we had for our deck. The project manager, Eric, kept us informed throughout the construction process. The building crew did an outstanding job. They moved at a quick pace while showing great attention to detail. My wife and I are more than pleased with our new front deck/porch. We will definitely choose MD Custom Construction for our upcoming projects.

Regarding our recent major kitchen renovation project, I cannot recommend anyone other than MD Custom Construction for such a task. From start to finish this company made the experience convenient and stress free even dealing with the inevitable unplanned surprises. Planning with Steven was a pleasure and a breeze considering our challenging space. Steven listened to our ideas and was sure to incorporate the elements into the design. Their onsite showroom was packed full of quality materials and fixtures making planning so convenient. Their computer generated renderings are high quality and go a long way to helping you foresee the final product. Kenny and team always showed up when they said they would, were on time, and always cleaned up the workspace at the end of each day. The team was always friendly and respectful and actually felt like friends over the duration of the project. Even our pups looked forward to their arrival everyday. Kenny always kept us up to date with regular progress reports. Once the project was finished, the team's main concern was that we were satisfied with the results. Man...we were so happy with the results!!! The craftsmanship was/is top notch!! Even still MD Custom Construction assured us if anything went wrong, they would back it up and address any issues. We could've gone with the lowest bidder, but I firmly believe you get what you pay for. What we received was a high quality kitchen renovation, with the piece of mind that the entire job was done correctly and on time with the reassurance that MD Custom Construction stands behind their workmanship. I contacted seven contractors for pricing on the installation of a large deck. All contractors did come as scheduled however this company, MD custom construction were the only ones who stayed in contact with us after initial visit. The salesman, Mike Bassford, worked closely with us to provide drawings and stay within our budget. He was not pushy but more like a friend. He wanted to make us happy and also offered suggestions. Eric Burdette, project manager, kept us informed as to everything that was happening and what the next steps were. Both of these guys have exceptional customer service and communication skills. Love working with both of them. The workers were friendly and professional. The construction area was left clean and tidy when they left for the day. Really glad the other six contractors did not bother to offer their services as I am very happy with Mike, Eric and MD Custom Construction. Highly recommend this company. Love my new deck.

I can't say enough good things about the team at MD Custom Construction! I was not looking forward to this kitchen remodel project but I did my due diligence and got three quotes. They were not the cheapest but also not the most expensive. Steven responded quickly to come out and do an estimate. Good vibe #1. Really easy to work with, no pressure, threw out some good ideas, and let us figure out next steps. He let us explore some other vendors but also did a good rendering of what it could ultimately be with all the details figured out. They understood my concern about timeline given the age of my kids and knowing themselves what a mom without a kitchen for x weeks would be like. Good vibe #2. The team was punctual and cleaned up at the end of every day. I got updates throughout on what to expect and when. They pay attention to all the little details that ultimately matter because as they say “the devil is in the details”. They worked with me on a change order when I ultimately pivoted and said to rip out the living room too. Steven was super easy to work with, Kenny was a fantastic project lead and all around good guy and ridiculously hard worker, the sub contractors were all good (especially the tile guys) and Brian and Matt were excellent, detailed, and the work horses that got it all done. I highly recommend MD Custom Construction for any of your home upgrade projects and will look to them for any future updates to my most expensive investment. I know they’ve been dealt a blow recently but hope they power through and continue the great legacy Kenny S started.

I could not be happier with the renovation of my kitchen, two bathrooms and new bookcases that MD Custom Construction just completed. Steve was so wonderful to work with, for his great designs and ideas for all the fixtures and materials needed to complete the job. Kenny, the project manager, was always in communication with me on the progress of the work, and I was always able to reach him with any questions. The quality of their workmanship is top notch! They do an outstanding job on everything, and you couldn't find a nicer company to work with. My house now looks like a new home, thanks to them! The work that MD Custom Construction did for me was on my dad's home (my childhood home). He passed away in July 2024 and needed an entire home makeover, to put it mildly. I live in Florida, so I needed to find someone I could trust to handle multiple projects. I met with several companies, but what sold me on MD Custom Construction was Mike Bassford, if I'm being honest. To say that this project was an emotional one for me is an understatement. He met with me, we talked through everything in detail, and brought Kenny Lagana in, as well. I have built homes before, and I know it can be stressful at times, but those two men made me feel so comfortable and confident throughout the entire process. My project started in October and ended in February and during that time I received numerous texts and emails with pictures and information. I had an email wrap-up every Friday from Kenny, letting me know what was completed that week and what to expect the upcoming week. They even worked with me on dates so I could travel up there to do the final walk-through. If you have ever built a home, you should know there is usually a punch list with numerous items to correct. I lived in that home for 2-3 days before the walk-through to make sure I could use everything and really look at the work, and I found only 3 minor fixes. One was a cabinet that rubbed a little against the countertop in the kitchen, the next was a small spot in the ceiling that needed touched up and the last was just to tighten the drawer handles. I am a pretty picky person, so for me to only find those extremely minor corrections was baffling to me. The work that the whole team did on that home is amazing. I am forever grateful for their care for the home and for me. They treated it as if it were their family home, and I never doubted that for a second. I will continue to refer anyone I know to MD Custom Construction and fully intend to use them for any needs in the future. I can't say enough good things about the team at MD Custom Construction. A friend recommended them to me when I mentioned I needed to do a complete kitchen/dining room remodel. From the careful rendering of a mock up of exactly what I asked for, to the showroom choices and subsequent detailed mock up, the actual tear down, build-up and installation, to final clean-up, every detail down to the color of the grout for the backsplash was discussed with me. The team were punctual and cleaned up at the end of every day. The project completion was predicted at five weeks and that schedule was met, and would have been beaten by a full week but for an outbreak of the flu. Steven was super easy to work with, Kenny was a fantastic project lead, and Derek did most of the work which was superb. I highly recommend them for any of your home upgrade projects!

We had a whole first floor including our kitchen remodeled 2 years ago by MD Custom Construction and now just had a beautiful new sunroom/3 season room added on to our house again by MD Custom Construction. I contracted for a full kitchen remodel and it was a great experience working with MD Custom Construction. Steven really listened to my vision and created a plan to implement that vision. He was invaluable in assisting with selection of colors and material. Communication with the project manager was professional and timely. Every subcontractor arrived on the day promised and on time. Totally blown away by MD Customer Construction’s professionalism, communication and ultimately their beautiful work that they do. We did a full remodel of our master bathroom, where all of our ideas were brought to life. The contractor Derek was phenomenal! He was tidy, talented and kept us well informed all within a timely fashion. Would highly recommend and use for future projects!

We reached out to Steven at MD custom Construction as the 4th bathroom remodel contractor. His quote wasn't the cheapest, nor was it the most expensive. However, Steven was the most responsive, he was knowledgable, upfront and realistic. We designed the bathroom with him and were put on contract. Within a month we had MD Custom Construction at our house. MD Custom Construction completed our bathroom on Budget and on schedule and I am very happy with the results.

Derek was the primary contractor that was over at the house everyday. The First Day Derek put floor to ceiling plastic throughout our master bedroom. Everyday Derek laid out drop-cloths to and from the bathroom across our house. At the end of each work day Derek cleaned up all his tools and drop-cloths and vacuumed his work space.

Also, MD custom Construction completed our remodel while my wife and I worked full-time. We had no issues with any of the Workers accessing our house while we weren't there, pure professionals.

This company does fantastic work and are very friendly, reliable, and easy to deal with. They replaced the spindles on my stairs, kitchen lighting, door handles throughout my house and new flooring in three bedrooms. Their work is high quality and I intend on using them in the future for more home improvement work.

Very rarely do you find a business owner who helps you along the way or gives you great advice on personal experience. Not only do they do phenomenal work but Kenny actually cares about his customers and friends. If it wasn’t for him giving me the opportunity to work for him I would have never opened my own business. At the end of the day there is enough work for all of us but Kenny truly is a great person and so are his employees/staff.

Before contracting our deck job, we asked for an estimate to retile our bathroom shower because the grout had deteriorated. We didn't want to spend a lot of money and MD Custom Construction is so honest that they put us in touch with a company to try professionally cleaning it. Ultimately, we just regrouted and saved about $20k!

I thought I knew what the deck might look like after talking to the sales person, looking at pictures in the brochure and checking out the material samples. All I can say is WOW!!! It was way more amazing than what I pictured in my mind. If you are thinking about a composite deck, you need to give Maryland Custom Construction a call. Trust me you won't be disappointed. If you are worried about price don't be It was within $500 of what I was expecting it to cost. With the cost of lumber right now I payed less than $1000 more for the composite than what it would cost to do a wood deck with a great material and construction guarantee I would not have gotten otherwise. I will definitely be talking to them again when I get ready for my next home improvement project.

MD Custom Construction was great and professional through the whole process. At no point did the try to oversell me, but actually came back during construction to let me know if they thought something wasn’t going to work, and provide a credit. They were quick to respond to any questions or concerns, and quick to fix any issues that arose. Steven was great through the estimating and financing process, and Eric ran the project flawlessly and finished a week earlier than projected. Norm, who came in to do the finishes and trim, did a great job, and put together what my wife called “the most beautiful” hand rail she’d ever seen leading down to the basement. These guys will be the first people we call for our kitchen remodel, and we highly recommend them for any project you might have.

We just completed our second home improvement project with MD Custom Construction, and we could not have been happier with the quality of the materials and workmanship. Mike and his team of expert craftsmen removed an unrepairable/compromised and hard-to-open sliding glass door and installed a new, high energy efficient United sliding glass door with new flashing, sealant, and Azek trim. MD Custom Construction made our dark cramped kitchen into the open, bright kitchen we wanted. Steven listened to what was most important to us in terms of how we wanted our new kitchen to function which was reflected in the design options he shared with us. He was the only designer we met with whose design opened our space and gave us an island when other designers, at other companies, told us neither was possible. Everyone working on our kitchen was pleasant, professional, skilled and always arrived on time. We were kept informed of what would be happening each day and any questions or concerns were promptly addressed and resolved to our satisfaction. This was a great home remodeling experience.

We had MD Custom Construction rebuild a boardwalk down to our house. Mike Bassford was always responsive to my questions and helped work up different itemized quotes for additional railings. In spite of building on steep slopes, the boardwalk is extremely sturdy. The crew clearly took pride in their work and the craftsmanship shows. I wouldn't hesitate to go back to them for more work in the future.

We are having issues with our sub floor feeling weak in some places. Steve with MD Custom Construction spent hours with us crawling around the crawl space and attic to find the culprit and has spent his time helping in the process in tracking down a solution. They have gone above and beyond. Their attention to detail, experience, and willingness to help is a relief to the family and me.

These guys are top notch. They showed up on time, kept to schedule, stayed on cost, and respected the property. They replaced all our first floor flooring, repainted, updated lighting, updated our stairs/banisters and remodeled the kitchen. They did an amazing job and were super easy to work with. If you have heard of problems with contractors, it is NOT these guys. One stop shop for everything with fair and reasonable pricing too. Cannot recommend more highly! Would use again!

Originally hired the company for an addition and dealt with Steve. Luckily we had them do a smaller project first. We had them install a new door and fix the flooring. After installing the door I could see daylight through the door w a strong draft. They came back and said a piece of sealant must of been accidentally thrown away by their workers then installed a tiny piece of sticky foam at the bottom which did nothing. Thankfully we decided to hire someone else to do the tile work bc the door continued to leak. They wanted to chant he is $2500 just to tile in front of the door despite us having all the supplies. We called them back 2 more times bc the water was coming in by large amounts. Each time they blamed it on something else then ultimately said it's nothing they could do. That it was the door. Yet we have flooding coming through in the middle and sides. In all directions at the seam. We made the decision to ultimately go with park place construction for our addition and extremely happy and thankful we did. I uploaded a picture of just today with the rain and what it does every time it rains

This company was referred to a relative of mine (2019-2020), a very large renovation project, which, needed mass repairs. My relative met this company and went over the details of the home as it had to go thru the insurance company. She purchased and supplied paint, kitchen and bathroom hardware, accessories, etc. The repairs seem to be going fine in the beginning with drywall and door replacements, after that, it started going downhill on many details as she and I saw. Occasionally, I would do a check after work when my relative could not be at the property and kept her abreast of the work. Let me just say we were dissatisfied and disappointed with the level of service. She mentioned to me that they DID NOT communicate with her on several details before preparing the work and since I saw several issues, I knew her frustrations. We were both dealing with major losses with our family, etc., during COVID, much like many many others were experiencing. So I offered to assist where I could. The first major one was they used an old gray-brown colored grout to seal the tile around her tub, she was extremely upset regarding the grout color choice on an ivory tile and did not know why they would use such a color instead of white or ivory color, I agreed. She expressed her concerns to the owner Kenny and basically told her the work was done on the tub and there was nothing he was going to do to fix it. They continued to use sealant for the sinks as well, which made it appear like dirt or rust around the stoppers instead of using clear or doing a better job in cleaning it up. They also left a ton of work dust all throughout the house when installing floors, bathroom and kitchen cabinets, etc. Her bathroom new sinks were leaking, they removed hardware parts from bathrooms and never placed back, painted one of the bathrooms with flat paint instead of adjusting the paint with semi-gloss or gloss. Additionally, they didn't install cabinets over the refrigerator and now she is missing cabinets. My relative communicated with them constantly with the owner and his Office Manager Steve via text, email and pics of everything. They said they would return to finish any touch-ups and cleaning after final payment was made. The final payment It took them 2 months to return and did not do as they promised. Her laminate floors are still separate in some areas as well. Now they did send a new worker who she said was very nice but Steve only allowed him to work 1.5 hours to do minimal work. At the time, my relative was very upset with the details, she had a few of our other family come and see how the home was coming along and all agreed that although they put the home back together, their workmanship and cleanliness were not up to par. They did not communicate well with my relative as a customer and did not keep their word to fix and touch up repairs. They gave her a small check to hire a maid or pretty much do it herself. We will not work with contractors who have poor workmanship and lack of communication with customers.

Everyone we dealt with at MD Construction were amazing. Our deck turned out absolutely beautiful. We will definitely use MD Construction for any further construction need we have.

It was great working with Mike and MD Custom. Once our permits came in, they had our deck up in less than 4 days. Mike was very responsive and helpful throughout the entire process and our deck turned out beautiful!

This is the second time we’ve used Maryland Custom Construction, and they’re the only company in southern Maryland we’ll work with. Mike Bassford has been our point person, and he gives us a straightforward, informed advice with no up-selling and lightning fast response time. He’s direct and easy to work with. We needed our wood floors replaced and were concerned about the complications of construction time, and I’ve been completely amazed at how quickly they’ve turned this around. Once the crew was assigned, they showed up at 8:05am, worked without interruption through the day, finished at 5:05pm and left us with a pristine new wood floor. The crew was respectful, focused, and most importantly, did excellent work. I can’t say enough good things about Maryland custom construction.

I hired MD custom construction for a linen closet renovation (drywall replacement, new shelves, flooring, door, paint, etc.), and they did an absolutely amazing job. Steven was excellent with communicating with me about the project expectations and the quote. The man (I’m so sorry I forgot his name!) who did the renovation was on time everyday, and was extremely hardworking! I can’t thank you all enough. The new closet looks fantastic!

Mike was extremely responsive and available to discuss options. Once the project started, the crew that came out was on time, quick, and efficient. My deck only took 3 days. I didn’t observe any major errors in workmanship and the construction was well done. Overall, great company. The other estimates we got for this project were similarly priced, but the responsiveness from Mike sealed it. Thanks again!

We contracted MD Custom Construction to install a support beam after removal of a fireplace and load bearing wall. They were very professional and worked with our delays and complications. Two words - FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE. We had contacted several contractors in the area, looked through reviews, etc. and Maryland Custom Construction was BY FAR the most responsive and knowledgeable with making the complex basement and backyard work we needed done a reality (masonry, plumbing, regrading, etc.). The whole process was smooth and professional including the subcontractors that they work with. Mike in particular provided superior customer service by answering questions promptly and every other MCC employee we encountered were also friendly and respectful. Highly recommend!!!

Mike’s crew did excellent work! They installed screens on my covered porch and hung my daybed swing. I am a very happy customer and will be using them again for future projects!

Our patio at the end is absolutely stunning. I am always nervous about home improvements and having to trust various contractors that over promise and under delivery. Most of that fear comes from hearing horror stories not any experiences of my own.

I believe what sold me on going with MD Customs and Constructions was before the project even begin I had tons of questions and the project manager always answered my call and questions. Also, he would stop by our residence once or twice a week to check on the project or to provide us with next steps in the project. The workers where always on time and ready to work when they arrived on site. The Yard was always picked up clean when they left for the day, no equipment or tools laying around for the next days work.

We ran into a snag during the project and my fears of the worst outcome felt to be coming true. But no that was not the case, the company made significant corrections to make things right and they followed through. It really was a smooth process and that’s because of the open communication this company overall displayed. I would say if you have any projects big or small give MD Custom & Construction a chance to answer that call.

I love MD Custom Construction. I only use them for my repairs. They never disappoint. They sent a team out to repair the 4 roofs on my house. The guys were able to finish the job in one 8 hour day. It was a messy job, but they cleaned it up and it was like they were never there. They were professional and polite. The hardest working roofers I have ever seen. I will continue to use them and highly recommend you do too!

We could not be happier with our experience with MD Custom Construction. We obtained multiple bids from local companies for two projects (new deck, replacement of back sliding glass door) and not only was MD Custom Construction's bid within our budget, the salesman (Mike) who came out to do the estimates could not have been more professional or nicer to deal with. Both crews (deck and door) were extremely professional as well, and the work was completed VERY expediently. We are absolutely thrilled with our new deck and door and would 100% call on MD Custom Construction again for future home renovations!

Even though MD Custom Construction's quote was higher than others I had received, I selected them due to their timely response, willingness to discuss options, and great reviews. Unfortunately the work they performed did not stand up to the quality they advertised.

I had my open concept living area painted, hardwood floors and carpet replaced, recessed lighting installed in my kitchen, and a new ceiling fan installed in my living room. For the price I paid, I had very high expectations. They hired subcontractors to do all of the work, 1 of which they had never worked with before. That was concerning to me as I had to be out of town for work but they assured me that they are insured and bonded and everything would be perfect when I got back. When I returned home, I discovered they did not finish the job, used my equipment (ladder, LED work light, and clothes dryer!), and left my house and equipment in complete disarray.

The MD Custom Construction project manager would only come to my house for ~15-20 minutes on the first day the subcontractors would arrive to tell them what to do. He never came in to check up on the work they were doing nor did he come in to inspect the work after the subcontractors said they were finished. When I would contact the project manager about the issues I had with their subcontractor’s work, he would always first respond with a reason or excuse as to why it was the way it was. After the project manager would come to the house to see the issues himself, he would finally agree with me and schedule the rework. This happened with every subcontractor except their electrician.

When the original work was being performed, they discovered a leak which resulted in a new contract to repair my dormer, and replace my drywall, insulation, and front door. This time the work was performed by MD Custom construction. Again, their own workers did not perform to the quality they advertised and the project manager never inspected their work. They promised to address the leak and make it looked like nothing had ever happened.

When they repaired the dormer, they installed black counter flashing which was nailed to my roof without any sealant. This 4" black piece of aluminum stood out like a sore thumb compared to the dormer next to it. They said that was the proper way to fix the issue and all of the other houses in my neighborhood probably have leaks too because it’s not installed on their dormers. When I disagreed with them and demanded it to be repaired, they told me they will not guarantee their work without the double flashing and it would cost me extra materials. Unfortunately 3 months later, I discovered the leak is still present. I paid $10K for this to be fixed and it is not.

The new front door they installed cannot be opened by a child. The first issue I had with the door was when they drilled the holes for the deadbolt and door handle latch, they were misaligned. When the door was closed, it could not be deadbolted and vice versa. After they finished the door installation, the door was so tight that I could not open or close it unless I put my full body weight into it. They refused to adjust it any further because they said it would loosen up over time. They told me that I’m a petite woman so I may have more trouble opening it than others. It’s my house and I should be able to open my front door without any issue! I have had to tighten my door handle twice in 3 months as a result of the door being pushed and pulled so hard to open or close it.

In the end, I was only discounted less than 2% of the contracted price for the issues I experienced during the renovations. I was also credited for the work that was not performed under our original contract (insulation in crawl space, painting of interior doors) and the cost of my missing LED work light. That still resulted in me still paying for the material and labor to do the unfinished work myself. 3 months later, I am left to hire another contractor to repair the leak that they never fixed and adjust my front door.

MD Custom replaced all of our aging wood doors. Their communication throughout the process was excellent. Their craftsmanship was superior. The did a great job!

We decided to build our deck with MD construction. They are very responsive through emails and phone. Everything was done in 4 days for 12x12 deck. Great craftsmanship! I highly recommend this business.

MD Custom Construction, job well done by the entire staff! We had a single story and a two story deck taken down and rebuilt; the work crew was very professional and did a fantastic job! We are extremely happy with the outcome and will certainly return to MD Custom Construction for future work.

My basement flooded and MD Custom did all the repairs. They installed vinyl plank, carpeted most of the basement including the stairs, installed new baseboard, and painted the entire area. From picking out flooring and paint to completion was 11 work days. All of the remodeling was done in 7 work days for an 1100 sqft basement and all this at a reasonable price. I'd definitely recommend them for your remodeling needs.

Great experience working with Mike Bassford on getting a new roof, flooring, and external door. Repeated leaks led to needing a new roof and I also had a leak that caused damage around my kitchen door. Finances were a major concern but I was very happy with the quote Mike got me for everything. And because the finances worked out favorably, I ended up expediting plans to get the entire floor redone between the kitchen and living room. Everything turned out great and the LVP flooring is such a big improvement over the old carpet and linoleum! I also appreciated the communication from Mike that kept me updated on the timeline for all the work. In the future I know there are some more projects I'll want done and I'll definitely be a return customer based on this experience.

MD Custom Construction completely finished a basement bathroom for us as well as the framing and drywall installation in the rest of our basement. We were on a budget and opted out of completely finishing the basement at this time and they worked with us to provide a reasonable quote and quality product. Not to mention their patience and flexibility in responding to our change requests was greatly appreciated. Now that everything is complete, we are delighted to have this additional space for our family for years to come. The company was always responsive to our requests, the contractors were respectful of our home (especially during Covid), and the finished product is flawless. I will definitely hire them for our future projects and recommend them to others based on the experience this time around!
