Had a good experience with Marlon. It was a 20 square hip roof that had a leak. Marlon ended up replacing some of the sheathing with new cdx plywood and redid the venting with the newer style peak / smart vent system. The job started on time and ended on time. We had a small bit of rain mid job but no issues since the guys got underlayment up in time. Clean up was also good afterwards. I would use them again.

Best roofing company you wanna have working on your house. Best bid, best service, exceptional result. I could go on forever about how happy I am with the work Marlon and his team did, but you should hire them yourself without any hesitation and convince yourself.

MCS did a wonderful job on my roof. They stuck to the agreed upon timeline and were very honest with me about the price. I would recommend them.

We had 3 Roofing Companies come out to inspect our roof. They all came to the same conclusion, they could do a TEMPORARY repair but it will eventually need to be replaced.
Marlon the owner of MCS bid was by far the most responsible. Check for yourself..
Marlon and his team members Erick and Reinel were the BEST you could ask for. They arrived about 8-9am and didn't leave until around 7pm.
Once they were done for the day, they left the place spotless..
Overall I would rate MCS a 10 Star if it was available.. Hiring MCS for the job, You Won't Be Sorry.

Got a nu-ray metal roof. Crew worked hard, cleaned up every day, and had a competitive price. I'd use their company again for other services based on this experience.

Wow! Where to begin with all the issues we had with this company. First off, let me say that the roof “looks” good. Most of the install appears adequate, but looks can be a bit deceiving. In hindsight, I should have paid a little more and gone with the better company.

Our roof was over thirty years old and the underlayment made of OSB was beginning to rot in places and was generally spongy all over. We ended up replacing all the OSB underlayment with CDX plywood throughout the roof. Marlon wanted to charge me over $5000 to do that and I eventually negotiated it down to just under $4000. The real problems started with his crew tore out the OSB. We have LP siding and in a very few places it had become brittle or rotted, but most of it was still very solid. At worst, the roofers purposely damaged the siding, at best, they were careless and neglected to treat the siding with any care. During the installation of the new plywood, the roofer hammered on things so hard that things fell off shelves mounted on the walls and pictures ended up crooked. It was like an earthquake struck our house.

Entire sections of the siding were damaged along the edge close to the roof. Instead of cutting two inches off the edge of the siding and leaving a gap (per local building codes that they weren’t aware of), they tore out the edges while installing the new underlayment and forced flashing under the siding. In all, they damaged about 70 linear feet of the edge of the siding. Now we have to replace the siding, or at the very least, repair 8-9 large sections of it.

What made this worse was the response I got from Marlon. He refused to take any responsibility for the damage, saying the siding was bad. I don’t think that telling me our siding was bad, which I was fully aware of, gave them license to recklessly damage it. Speaking of license and reckless, that leads to the next issue.

Marlon’s contract specifically stated many things which they didn’t follow. They were supposed to take care of any building permits needed to complete the job. They didn’t file for the needed permits. We received a letter from the city the day after they finished with a stop work order. We ended up filing for the permits ourselves. And because Marlon didn’t obtain the permit, the building inspector couldn’t confirm that the underlayment was properly installed. The inspector did point out a lot of “shiners”—nails that didn’t fasten to the rafters and were exposed. This means that the plywood underlayment may not be properly attached with the necessary code-required number of nails. According the building inspector, it also indicates the general subpar workmanship of the roofing job.

His contract also said they would have a port-a-potty for his workers. Like everything else that he cut corners on, Marlon didn’t provide one. We saw on our cameras his workers peeing on the side of the house or on the corners of the fence.

There were numerous other issues. The building inspector pointed out that kickout flashing to divert water into gutters weren’t installed in many of the places where they should be. Flashing around the furnace exhaust wasn’t installed properly and apparently made up for with lots of sealant.

When I contacted Certainteed about the workmanship of our roof, I found out that Certainteed has two levels of certification, a basic and a premium. The premium certification guarantees both the materials and the workmanship. The basic certification only guarantees the materials. MCS has only a basic certification, which is why they have to offer their own warranty for their workmanship, which is meaningless if they go out of business.

Don’t make the mistake I did. I can’t recommend this company. They weren’t much cheaper than a reputable company. In fact, the City of Edmonds building inspector told me he has had many complaints and violations regarding MCS Roofing, citing poor workmanship that’s not up to code, and failure to obtain permits. He wouldn’t recommend them. I think that says it all.

All around good business. Owner Mat called me back right away, looked at my roof the same day and fit me into his busy schedule. He gave me two options, starting with the less expensive repair, but I chose the 2nd option to have roof vent replaced. Price was responsible and materials look of good quality and matched my existing roof. Workmen were professional, worksite was left clean and work was high quantity. Very happy!

It’s always smart to get three bids on a major home project. Last year, I needed a new roof and had three come over. MCS Roofing and Construction was #3. Companies 1 and 2, sent a salesperson out. Number 3, MCS Roofing and Construction, was represented by the owner, Marlon. No salesmanship, just straight talk and a bid that was at least 20% better than either of the other two. MCS did a phenomenal job. The came out when they said they would and finished ahead of schedule. The crew cleaned up after each day and were professional and respectful. In December, during an unusual deluge of rain, I noticed that water was dripping into my fireplace. I called Marlon. He came out the same day. The first thing he did was to go up on the roof to put tarp around all of the usual suspected areas. That solve the leaking issue. A day or so later, he came out to do some detective work to see what was causing the problem—no, it wasn’t a roofing issue, it was a chimney issue. He reassured me he could fix it and a few days later, he did. And the price was terrific.

I don’t know many companies—especially the owner of a company, that would provide that kind of service. Marlon and MCS Roofing and Construction is THAT company. For a job done well at an exceptional price, go with MCS—at least give them an opportunity go give you a bid. You’ll be glad you did.

Our tenants called during the recent rain storm telling us water was coming into the kitchen. MCS showed up in less than 12 hours and had a temporary solution in place until they could come make the permanent fix just a couple days later. Their price was reasonable, especially considering the emergency situation. I didn't even have to go meet them at the property, which was a huge help. Couldn't be happier.

Three months ago we noticed a leak from the roof into the dining room. We contacted Marlon Castellanos and he came, surveyed the problem and did a set of patches and commented the roof was in poor condition. Two months later he came out and showed us all the nails popping out of the asphalt shingle roof (30 years old) and gave us an estimate of about $8000. It was done in 3 days and looks much better than the original. AND they started work less than a week after we received the estimate.

They showed up right on time and gave me a very fair bid to repair some shoddy work that another roofing outfit had done. MCS did a wonderful job on our roof replacement. Marlon came out and gave us a bid promptly and beat other companies' estimates by about 25%. He brought a skillful team of roofers who replaced our large and complex roof and even followed up afterwards to make sure no details had been overlooked. Several of our neighbors have been asking who did our roof and we have already recommended MCS Roofing to them.

He is really straightforward and quick with his bids and they come in at a really good price with high quality materials. We had gotten a leak in our old roof and I called him up and he was over within a half an hour and had a bid for me before he left. They were able to fit me in within the week, before the rains came again, and even replaced some of my relatively new vents with ones that were better as part of the whole package. Because we had had one side of the roof done for a remodel, I was able to compare. Even though both sides we’re good quality, he put in really nice metal components where the roof runs perpendicular over the bedroom to the main house. It was a noticeable improvement over the previous roofer’s job… Even though the method without metal flashing works well too, this builds in a lot more durability and provides me with more confidence. He’s even going to come back when we get the chimney done to reflash it properly as part of this job.He also provides a detailed pronounce of all of the new parts of the job and the materials that they use which is really helpful. I had just bought my home late last Fall and found out that I had issues with my roof. MCS was the first of many companies I called to inspect and provide an estimate. Without even asking Marlon threw a tarp over my roof, immediately gave a quote onsite and left without any sales pressure. Subsequently after seeing numerous other roofing contractors and bids, researching different types and brands of roofing material, and calling MCS back for another quote on a different product, I finally made my decision.

Although I hadn't planned on replacing my roof this soon, I went ahead with MCS to do a metal roof and gutters. Marlon provided the most competitive price, best product, financing, which other companies didn't have, and had great reviews. He was very friendly and

Marlon and his crew were out to the site and made sure my roof repair/partial reroof was done in a timely manner in spite of the rainy winter weather.

We needed a patch after three old electrical masts were disabled. Marlon removed the old masts and patched the holes perfectly. He also cleaned downspout entry points that I could not reach. We appreciate the quality of his work, and he is a pleasure to work with.

I had a branch hit my roof which caused a small leak. Luckily we noticed it before winter. In this area it's next to impossible to get a reliable contractor in a reasonable time. I called MCS at 830 am and explained my situation, he was out at my house before noon. He went up, cleaned my roof of branches, found the hole, and then gave me a fair quote to patch it. He did the work and now the leak is gone. He was very transparent about his work, and sent pictures throughout the process. On top of that, he cleaned the area of all work debris when he was done. I'd highly recommend MCS, and would use him again.

I live in Edmonds, I had my roof replaced by MCS Roofing this summer, and I will tell you that if I could give them 6 stars, I would! Professional, clean, and knowledgeable 100 percent. By the way, I’m a huge pain to contractors because I hover to make sure it’s done right, and they didn’t mind at all. Really satisfied!

Marlon is very professional and responsive. He replaced the gutters and downspouts and the flashing around all the roof penetration (vents, vent pipes, etc). He also repaired some ripped shingles. All for a fraction of the cost of a new roof. This will keep my roof lasting many more years. His bid was by the job so when some parts were tougher than expected he took care of it.

I had a totally positive experience with MCS for a roof repair job. Marlon, the owner/operator, was able to come out within a day of my call to inspect and provide a reasonable estimate for repairing a roof leak which has resulted in periodic water penetration through my master bathroom exhaust vent into the bathroom during heavy rain. Marlon was able to schedule his crew to come out within two days of his estimate and completed the repair and replacement of the cracked and failing vent stacks in the course of several hours.

He was responsive, timely, professional, and proficient with his work. And he provided me with before and after pictures of the roof areas, along with a two year labor and materials warranty.

I plan to use Marlon and his MCS crew for all my future roofing, maintenance and repair work given this very positive experience.

Hello Google reviews. This is a positive review. Needed a new roof. I got 3 bids from only local roofing companies. All had high ratings. MCS bid came in below the others. All said the same thing about the scope of work. Except MCS had to do the job during the February 2019 snow in Seattle area. Short story..I live in Edmonds and had a leak around Thanksgiving 2018. From previous place I lived in Kent I am so sick of taking care of Cedar Shake roofs that all bids were attractive...and long term roofing solution. All three very reputable places that I got bids for said the same thing...replace the danged cedar with high end composite system (cedar I love...but not the maintenance). I accepted MCS bid which was a bit lower price. We're talking a new car (not luxury but significant) price on top of your house...I won't disclose the range...but you get the picture. Nils and Marlon told me they work all year round in rainy winter (within the dry breaks incrementally) so I agreed to the price and scope with them. About 2 days into the job came the snow. MCS did the best you could expect with that weather. Long story short...they got the job done albeit a bit later than we both expected due to the weather. They shoveled snow off my roof to get the job done, for example. I spoke with all their employees and thanked them personally... Give them a shot . 5 stars.

Marlo and his crew did a very good job replacing our roof. They were listening to, and addressing our concerns in a timely manner, they made sure the yard and driveway was thoroughly cleaned up when they were done. They did a good work at my friends too. That is how i heard of them. I would definitely recommend them.

I had a roof leak and called MCS based on some reviews I saw. They came out the next day to assess the problem. They were upfront about what the issues were and completed the repair that day. I later had another small issue and they came right out and fixed it for free. I’m very happy with these guys and will for sure use them again in the future.

We chose MCS Roofing over 3 other bids for several reasons, chief among them was that Marlon took the time to answer all of our questions during his visit to work up an estimate. He never hurried us along, and his attention to details exceeded that of their competitors. Price point was median and fair for the work needed.
The job took 5 days to complete and included tear off of 2 existing layers and replacement of 15 sheets of plywood. All roof vents were eliminated in favor or the newer style of ridge vent. The roofing material was as promised and of very good quality. The crew was kind, clean, and professional. Cleanup was performed daily and the final cleanup was thorough. They even took the time to paint our metal chimney for our pellet stove (was an ugly grey color) with high temp black paint to match the new roof. This wasn't in the bid but is just an example of he level of detail that was put into the job.
I myself work in the public service sector and know what great customer service looks like. As such, I can say with confidence that MCS Roofing is a company that I will feel confident in referring to friends and family.

After a storm, I had some water leaking into my house. Another roofing outfit came and spent an hour examining the area inside and out and suggested another type of service provider. They couldn't find the source of the leak. I called MCS and Marlon came out, immediately found where the flashing had come away from the faux chimney where the funace exhaust is and fixed it in an hour. MCS was timely, on time, charged exactly what was estimated and, most importantly, fixed the problem! Highly recommend them.

August 2019: I was planning on doing my roof myself, but I met Marlon and he came out and quoted me a price that was worth it to have them do it. His crew did the entire tear-off in one day and shingled it in another. They did a great job, paying attention to the details.

Whenever I had a question or concern, I contacted Marlon and he responded. He was out there at least once each day his crew was working on the roof. I would use this company again.

June 2020: My gutters were leaking so I called Marlon for a quote. His quote was very competitive and his crew had the gutters done in a few hours. They did a great job and cleaned up after themselves. Haven't had a hard rain yet to make sure there are no leaks, but Marlon stated to give him a call if there are any issues.

When I called Marlon to make an appointment, he came on time and ready for all of the questions I had. Very professional, punctual and did everything he promised. The property was cleaned up every day and the crew was amazing.

We would not hesitate to higher Marlon and his crew for future work. MCS replaced our roofs and they look amazing and downright classy. We initially got three bids and his was the best. It took about two and a half days to complete the work which started soon after we accepted his bid. The crew worked the job in such a way that our private lives underwent no interruption. Marlon and his team were great! They removed my old shingles and had the new roof done in 3 days. They replaced several sheets of plywood for me, and even reinforced/lifted a section that was sagging. I had a total of four companies bid my roof, and MCS was the best price. They used the same shingles as the other companies and offered the same warranty as well. He also replaced my gutters for a great price. I would recommend MCS roofing to anyone who is in need of a roof.

This is a very accommodating and professional company. They were prompt, both for the bid and the job, and fair in pricing. They found damage after stripping of the old roof, and were flexible and reasonable about fixing it and pricing it. My roof is a flat roof with an internal gutter system and the crew they sent were very knowledgeable about this roof. It looked great when they were done and I've gone all winter with no problems.

I had MCS redo my roof back in August but wanted to wait for some rain before posting a review. The bottom line is the job was completed fast, looks good, and the cost was on the lower end of the estimates I received. Marlon also didn't nickle and dime me on some sheathing that needed replacement which was nice. I would definitely recommend this company.

As far as I can tell this was a full service roof replacement and there was no corner cutting as all flashing was replaced, rotted or damaged sheathing replaced, a ridge vent installed, and vent stacks were painted to match the new flashing. The area surrounding my house was cleaned up reasonably well after the job considering how messy a roof replacement is.

4 stars instead of 5 because of a missed first estimate appointment and a skylight that wasn't originally replaced as specified in the contract. But the skylight was replaced within a couple hours after I mentioned it and before the final payment was made.

It would also be nice if they spent 5 minutes to run a magnet over your driveway after the job to pick up some of the expected metal debris and reduce the chances of flat tires.

Update 4 months later: We ended up selling the house semi unexpectedly and the buyers didn't have anything bad about the roof come up in their inspection.
