We’re very satisfied with the services provided by McKown. Over the past couple of weeks, we had our home pressure-washed and some exterior painting done, and the results exceeded our expectations. We’ve used McKown before for pressure washing and were very happy with the outcome then as well.

Chris completed the exterior painting, and his attention to detail truly shows in the final result—it looks fantastic. He was also very friendly and professional throughout the process.

Had deck pressure washed and sealed in October 2024. Within 3 months, deck was discolored and water doesn’t repel. After the work was initially done, I called to confirm they had indeed pressure washed because they was still a lot of discoloration on the deck. I was assured the work had been done. Extremely disappointed in the quality of work; what a waste of $1600.00!

How did I not know about this amazing service!!! My house actually looks BRAND NEW!!! I though my home needed a paint job and after a power pressure wash it no longer needs it!

The staff was great and efficient in getting me schedule in a timely manner. They instructed me on what to do to prepare and made the process simple, from beginning to end.

WOW!!! Did an online inquiry about 4:00pm. Next morning they were already there to do the estimate. Don’t think the guy had even left yet and already had an estimate. Called them after receiving (a VERY fair estimate) and was scheduled the same week. When I got home from work I couldn’t believe the great job that was performed by Al. If it weren’t for the fact that my house and pavement were so dirty I would have never even known they were there. Zero damage done to any of my flower beds (I have them around most of my house). They are a great company to work with. Thanks for a job well done in all aspects of the process!! 10 stars if I could :)

McKown power washed a rental property and our own home yesterday down here at the south end of the beach. Great value, their employee Al was a great guy, did an awesome job. Everything looks brand new, even the gutters are spotless, and good news is I didn’t have to get on a ladder. I highly recommend McKown’s power washing team, ask for Al.

Vince did an amazing job pressure washing my house. He listened to my concerns and took care of getting everything meticulously cleaned. From the moment he introduced himself to the end, he was genuinely friendly and thorough. I didn’t have to worry for a minute. We normally have McKown come out to pressure wash the house 1 or 2 times a year. Today, they came out and did our fence, pool deck, shed, driveway and sidewalk. I'm smiling ear to ear! They did an amazing job and continuous communication throughout the process! KUDOS and highly recommended.

McKown Pressure Wash did an excellent job removing dirt and mold from my 2-story home in Virginia Beach. It was a pleasure working with Erin who was always prompt and courteous with coordinating the service and letting us know what steps we needed to take before Zack arrived. I cannot recommend them enough. Super helpful and nice over the phone; they had a quote within 2 days of inquiry. We got our house pressure washed. They did a phenomenal job and even pressure washed a little cement area that needed some love even though it wasn’t what we were quoted for. McKown pressure washing/painting brought life back into my concrete patio and the outside of my home this past summer with their pressure washing team….now they’ve done it on the inside with their fabulous painting team! I had no idea I would love my house like I do….and Im not stopping here….I have more rooms that I will be calling them to revitalize! Everyone from beginning to end has been so professional and just plain nice! I highly recommend them!!!

I am blown away with how good my painting team has been. They spent far more time prepping walls and ceilings than I have experience having used 4 other professional residence painter teams! The team was timely, professional in demeanor, and so thorough in protecting my furniture/belongings, etc.! The result has been incredibly flawless ceilings, walls, and trim! It looks fabulous and was relatively painless given the invasion of having your interior painted. I STRONGLY recommend using these guys! Absolutely fabulous! Thanks so much McKown painters! The service attitude of this store is extremely bad. I hired them to paint the walls and spent a lot of money. They demanded $2000 more than the market price, claiming they would complete all the work, but ended up cutting corners. When I questioned them, they even demanded an additional $2000 . In the end, they took the money and left without completing the job. I will give this company a negative review to let more people know about their behavior. Additionally, I found that this company engages in racial discrimination, offering different prices and treatment based on people's skin color. I plan to file a complaint against them to have them legally sanctioned.

Chris did a great job here at Autobell on Portsmouth Blvd. It looks awesome and did it in a timely manner. Will definitely use for any other paint jobs!

So disappointed. I just got my house pressure washed today and I have plants that I was worried about. I looked at their FAQ that said the solution doesn’t harm plants. I spoke to the receptionist that said as long as I water the plants well the day of, they’d be ok. So I was surprised to come home and notice my entire home smells like chemicals, and so many of my plants (including the ones I moved) are dead/dying! I wouldn’t have booked this if I wasn’t given that reassurance. I don’t know what kind of solution they’re using, but this strong smell and the quick death of my plants tells me it’s not as safe as they say.

EDIT: I was contacted by Stephanie about my review yesterday and they had someone come out and look at the plant damage but I never got a call back. I called today and she said that the landscaper said my plants weren’t dead and there were only 2 yellow leaves on my potted elephant ears. Which is one of the plants I moved away from the house! When I told her I have pictures within the last week of my plants showing that they were healthy, she told me to text or email them. I originally texted them, but decided to email them a couple hours later for official documentation. That’s when Stephanie called in a very cold manner and said she received them and wanted to correct me that she didn’t say anything was wrong. I decided to let that go. Then she said I should’ve moved my potted plants and when I corrected her and said that I did, she had a problem and said I wasn’t being respectful. I didn’t raise my voice or curse her out but all of a sudden she can’t handle being corrected in a matter of fact tone. She’s telling me I need to be professional when AGAIN I did not raise my voice or curse once at that point. If you can’t handle customers complaining about what YOUR company messed up, get a new job. The call ended with her saying someone will review the pictures and give me a call back by Tuesday, but that’s all the entire conversation should’ve been in the first place. Work on that sensitivity when you hear a strong tone of voice by then, Stephanie.

EDIT #2: The landscaper Derrick came out today and cleaned up the dead plants and replaced them. He was really nice, gave me product suggestions, and explained everything to me, so I updated my rating for that since the company did come out and mostly fix the issue. I’m still sad about my plants since my elephant ears were getting so big and one of the plants had sentimental value to me. If you have plants, wait until late fall/winter to get your house pressure washed because they will suffer!

Had our two-story house power washed and it came out wonderful. We’ve used McKnown Co. before, but it’s been several years. My windows look amazing! I didn’t expect them to come out spot free. Usually you always have to do your windows afterwards. I just have to do a touch up. We were waiting for all the pollen to be gone. Demarcus was our technician and he was very polite, attentive to detail and very through. Their pricing was great. If you’re a returning customer, you get a discount and also they are running a special now. I had gotten several estimates. They were very competitive. I highly recommend them and we will definitely use them again next spring.

After the house took some minor siding damage in a windstorm early in 2023, I began the rather lengthy process of trying to get it repaired. Insurance [rightly] determined that the repair would be less expensive than our deductible, so I started looking for local contractors to handle the job. I called McKown for a pressure washing of the house and they offered to quote the siding repair as well. The cost was reasonable, the work was on time, and the service was 100% professional. The folks in the office communicated with me faithfully, and took great care of us. They did an outstand job, and I will be bringing them back when we need their services again.

The whole process was handled very professional. From the estimate to the actual work we were very pleased. Gabrielle, Caleb and Chris did an excellent job.Your whole team exceeded our expectations. You are highly recommended.

The McKown team just painted our kitchen and hallway ceiling. I can’t say enough about how wonderfully it turned out but what was even more impressive was their professionalism and care. We had new recessed lighting installed and the electricians left the drywall in rough shape. We had a plaster specialist fix the problems but it took us a while to get it painted—mostly because several painters we called were unwilling to do a small job. The ceiling still needed a lot sanding but the McKown guys took care of everything. They completely covered the floor with tarps and covered everything else in plastic—even the pictures on the walls. When they were finished, they took a small paint brush and dusted all the tops of the pictures and the tops of the baseboard. Then they ‘swiffered’ the entire floor. As a retired executive, I’ve rarely if ever seen this high level of professionalism and craftsmanship AND the price was more than reasonable. I simply can’t say enough good things about this team! They will be getting more of our business in the future and I’ve already sent texts to my neighbors letting them know that if they need any painting, or the other services McKown offers, to look no further.

I can’t say enough about this company, there aren’t enough stars to truly show my appreciation! They are here pressure washing Nichols Park, and were hired by my HOA. Yesterday, when it was time to do the side of my house….I ran outside like a crazy lady and pleaded with them to come back at a different time because I had literally just put my 1yr old down for a nap. The nice man said he totally understood my predicament and said he’d ask his boss. They came back 3 hours later to pressure wash my home and that gave my baby a two and a half hour nap, and this new mom a two and a half hour break!

After they finished the side of my house, they told me they needed to come back the next day to do the front and asked what time would work around my baby’s nap schedule! In that moment, I felt so cared about. They came early, pressure washed the front and now I’m getting my baby down for her morning nap!

Y’all are a wonderful family business and I truly appreciate the wonderful and caring service. And my house looks amazing, too!

I hired McKown to pressure wash my house and deck, replace rotted deck boards and stain the deck. As often happens with old decks, the wash revealed more rotted boards than I originally thought needed to be replaced. My son was graduating in two weeks which meant I was on a short timeframe before his party. McKown’s team sent a crew out immediately to resolve the issue. After staining, my deck looks practically brand new. I cannot say enough nice things about their service and professionalism. This is the third time I’ve hired them and they’ve done an amazing job all three times. You cannot go wrong with choosing McKown.

I requested service for pressure washing my home. The quote was competitive and service was excellent. I requested an appointment and they were able to fit me in the next day. I had expressed concerns about my mahogany front door to the scheduler. The gentleman that came out knew about my concerns and took extra care to avoid spraying the door. Will definitely use them again in the future.

McKown has consistently provided great service and excellent customer support at a reasonable price. Many people don't realize that they can protect their homes and have them cleaned so simply and inexpensively. They are coming again next week, so I'll post some before and after photos.

We had McKown out to clean our siding a couple years ago and called on them again this past week. Since we were already in their system, we were sent a quote via e-mail that was very reasonable. Technician came out and did the washdown this afternoon. Superior job done once again!

I hired this company to paint the shudders on my house and they were great. The painter showed up at scheduled time and promptly began painting, and did an outstanding job. I would like to add that he's a veteran and had a great attitude and was very professional.

I hired McKown Painting to take down the 18 shutters on the windows on the front of my house. They took them to their shop and fully restored them: stripped, sanded, primed, and re-painted. Then they returned and, using new hardware, re-installed the shutters. They took extra care to re-use one shutter that was broken, which I had repaired years ago. It was somewhat fragile and they were extremely sensitive to handle it with extra care. The crew of three, Sam and Chris, were led by Gabe. All were most professional and careful. Gabe explained every aspect of the job and took seriously my several concerns. I dealt via email and phone with McKown’s office, particularly with Ms. Heather. She was a delight to correspond with. She took extra effort to send me photos of the shutters in various phases of the restoration process, a step I don’t think many other contractors would have taken. . . This is my 4th contract with McKown; I have had power washing of my exterior, and two interior painting jobs, and always they communicate accurately, are on time, and they are very polite when dealing with me, the customer. They like to take up tons of parking spots and very rude about when you asked them to move they give me a attitude like there’s some big shot And they’re really overpriced most of there power washing is done with a bleach wash what is not good for that environment

Great company and associates! We had our 2 story foyer and ceiling painted as well as 2 halls. Ron and Gabe were very professional and did an awesome job! Great care was taken to protect our floors, staircase and banister. We would highly recommend McKown for painting as well as pressure washing.

Not only to the do a stellar job cleaning our buildings but they came in like ninjas and in a matter of a few hours all 8 buildings completed. I watched the whole process.
