I recently had my vehicle serviced at the Deacon Jones Honda Service Department for a full engine replacement and since routine maintenance, and I couldn't be more impressed with the experience. From start to finish, the team demonstrated outstanding professionalism, technical expertise, and a genuine commitment to customer satisfaction.

The leadership within the service department is clearly strong—everything was organized, transparent, and efficiently handled. The staff took the time to explain the process clearly, kept me updated throughout the repair, and made sure all my questions were answered.

What stood out the most was their exceptional customer service. Everyone I interacted with was courteous, knowledgeable, and truly cared about making sure I felt comfortable and informed. It's not every day you find a service team that combines high-level skill with such a positive and welcoming attitude.

Thanks to Deacon Jones Honda, my car is running like new again. I highly recommend their service department for anyone in need of quality automotive work backed by excellent people.

UPDATE: Changing from 1 star to 2 stars. The GM later called and promised to handle it personally. Fingers crossed. I hope to update this review once they improve their communication—with each other and with me.

Original Review:
I purchased my car a month ago, and part of the sale was a windshield repair for a crack pre purchase. After no returned calls, I started showing up in person late May, and secured a windshield repair date—but they couldn’t provide a time (understandable, since it’s a third party). I checked in the week prior without a callback. The day of the appointment came with no word, so I showed up when they opened. Service said they would send a text the glass guy and said they would call back. After not hearing I went back up there, they finally confirmed the glass tech was coming but likely after 2 PM. So I went home, only for my salesman to call 30 minutes later and say the appointment wasn’t happening and needed rescheduling.

This blindsided me because service had assured me three times the tech was coming and would call when en route. I immediately drove to the dealership and spoke to the GM, who apologized but insisted the glass guy had come that morning, asked him about the windshield, and left. When I asked why service would assure me they talked to him, and that he was still coming in the afternoon—and why no one would contact me if he did show up? His response was "You're not our only customer." (Understandable, but ouch—I had done everything I could to make this happen) The GM was apologetic but followed with "How is that my fault?" and "What do you want me to do?" So I walk over to service myself to triple check this wasn’t happening and they said they had no idea what I was talking about, the glass guy was never there, and the glass guy just confirmed he would be there in 10 minutes

Turns out, the GM and salesman weren’t on the same page with service.

The glass tech finally arrived and was great but couldn’t fix the issue. The dealership said they’d follow up about a replacement.

Great experience—until my card swiped. After that, my Deacon Jones experience was totally different.

My wife and I were stranded in South Hill after trying to charge my GMC Hummer at a Tesla station that ended up not being online. So, we stopped at the Honda dealer for help and they took my truck right in and charged some miles on it for us. They did it just because and to help some people in need. Thank you Deacon Jones Honda for your great service and kindness! If you're in the area and you're going to buy a Honda, buy it from Deacon Jones Honda in South Hill!

Horrible, awful experience. I have confirmed so many times if the car on sale was available at their dealership and they confirmed it. I drove an hour to go check the car, they sent me to another dealer telling me that the car was over there. I drove another half an hour to go to that dealer and there was no car there either. They did not even say they were sorry ! Unbelievable. Do not lose your time buying a car at this dealership.

My experience here was horrible. My mechanic took my car here to change my airbag sensor. When I got the car back, 4 other sensors was blinking on my car. That was my break system sensors, my steering wheel sensor, and my tire traction sensor. I called these people to see why my car was like this. They said I had to get my mechanic to bring it back. They tried to claim that the sensor lights were already on when it arrived there. I know for a fact that they weren't. When I tried to ask for the paperwork to have evidence of this, they said it was there. So, it is proof that they lied. They also wanted to charge me 150 dollars just to look at my vehicle again AFTER IT WAS JUST THERE!! These people are a joke and a rip off!!! I wish I could get my money back

They took advantage of my 60-year-old mom. They sold her a 2020 Honda Accord LX with 18,495 miles on it for $30,092 on 9/16/23. Telling her that was a good deal. She being a older woman, trusted them and went along with the purchase. After getting home she called me telling me about her new purchase giving me all the details. After I heard her say she paid 30k for a base model 3 -1/2-year-old Accord. I said Mom you got ripped off. You could have bought a brand new 2023 Accord EX for that price. I go on their own website and they're selling 2 brand new 2023 Accords for the same price she paid for her 3 -1/2-year-old Accord. She goes back up there the next day to tell them redo the contract and put her in the new car and take the used car back. Of course they give her the run around saying there's nothing they can do. The paperwork already went through and so on. Any other decent sales guy would have told my mom that they have two brand new cars on the lot for the same price with a 5-year warranty but all they care about is ripping elderly women off.

It doesn't take 41/2 hrs to replace 4 wheels and tires and valve stems and balance and and alignment ,plus they didn't work on it constantly till done ,I know cause we watch from side door of shop and we was told 200.00 for complete work, I even bought my 2016 truck from Boyd's in South hill va. I've had several disappointing experiences with this facility. You call you only go to voice mail no one calls you back for days. Had my car for over a week with no one to let me know why the delay. They charged double the price my insurance company wanted to pay for a windshield, then didn't even manage to put my toll tag back on the window and left it on the floor, did the same thing to my wife's car. Poor communication, HIGH priced poor quality repairs. Don't have a lot of options guess I will try the Oxford location.

Took a recent 2-week trip to Montana and had a dilemma- rent a car and spend $5k or try to coax our 2015 Honda Pilot with 185,000 miles for the ride. Angela convinced me they could do the necessary repairs/tuneups/safety checks to make the trip - happy to report all went well on the 6200-mile trip (pulling a 5x8 trailer!).

I have dealt with 100’s of businesses and 10-15 dealerships in my time and I have never dealt with any more unprofessional and more than likely greedy than Boyd Honda in South Hill, Virginia. They do not honor their commitments and their management is inexperienced at best. Trust me when I advise you to drive a few more miles and deal with a trusted dealership.

I was travelling from NC to DC on I85 earlier this week. Twenty miles south of South Hill my CRV started making some noise. I pulled over on the shoulder and found out that the metal panel under the hood was hanging. I brought it to Boyd Honda in South Hill at their Service Department and explained the situation to Angie. Angie immediately took it in and within 10 minutes brought it back fixed. It seems couple of clips had come lose. I was simply amazed by such a quick service. Special Thanks to Angie and their Service Tech (I did not get his name) for taking care of it so quickly and putting us back on road!! Truly appreciate such an amazing customer service!!

High praises for the service team!! Our car had an issue (important bolts fell out) as we crossed over the state line on our way to Richmond. We google the nearest Honda place and rolled in right at closing time. They took us in, had us fixed, and back on the road in 15-20 minutes. Amazing service! Huge thanks!!

A few months ago I was traveling down 85 on a road trip and I got a notification to check my tire pressure on my 2020 CR-V. About two weeks before that I had a flat tire and despite getting that fixed I was worried that there was something wrong. I pulled off on the South Hill exit to look for a tire pressure machine at a gas station and there weren't any but I saw the Honda. I pulled in and told them the situation. They took my car back, checked all the pressures, and told me that because of the change in temperature my tires actually had too much air in them so they put the pressures where they were supposed to be. They were so nice, completed this in less than 10 minutes, and did not even charge me! They made what was turning into a stressful situation 100x better and I really appreciate how wonderful they were. Excellent customer service!

I can't speak highly enough about the service I received here. I was on a road trip and my car (Subaru) broke down in South Hill, hundreds of miles from anyone I know. They're a very busy dealership but at 5pm they made arrangements to squeeze me in the next day. They consulted with Subaru (it was a fairly significant issue) and fixed my car. I was so worried that it would break down again but they were very reassuring and I haven't had any problems since. I also felt I was charged a fair price. The people were great to work with. Excellent service.

The new service facility is no comparison to the previous location! 1000% better for checking in/out and parking! The "lounge" area for waiting I didn't like as much. It's in the center of the showroom, not peaceful or private for phone calls or even watching the monitor that was there. I was expecting to at least get acup of coffee while I waited- amnesties offered at other dealerships I have dealt with. But it is nice and new and comfortable.
