Mr. Nelson with Matrix Construction assisted us in checking our roof to see if there were any leaks or problem areas. He notices a few areas that needed attention soon to prevent future problems. We decided to have him complete the repairs and we were very pleased with the outcome. He even trimmed one of the bushes in the front yard and trimmed back a tree that was close to the front of the roof. I had called two companies out to the house to address the problem and make repairs to water entering the inside of the house. The work performed was expensive and did not solve the water issues. As a result, I contacted Matrix Construction and they were able to resolve the issues. They provided me with photographs of what the problem was, photos after the work was completed and communicated with me. I was very pleased with the entire process. Their fees were also reasonable. If you are in need of a roof repair or replacement, hire Nelson and Rolando to do it. You will not find anyone who cares more about how well the job is done than them.

We noticed a wet spot on our ceiling and called around to several companies for someone to give us an estimate on a repair. Nelson was the only one to call back, period. He came out that very evening and took a look. He went onto the roof and did an inspection, giving us a tentative quote. He sent an email with the official estimate and we accepted. He came out about two weeks later, because it had been raining and started the repair. Throughout the entire process, Nelson and Rolando showed me what they were finding and explained what they were going to do to fix the problem. The repair turned into a much more extensive repair than originally thought. There were several leaks and it had caused a lot of rot in the wood. They were able to replace or reinforce all the problem areas. There was even a section of the roof that was lower than the rest and they were able to lift and repair that section as well. They added roof vents so the air that is brought in through the soffit can escape, which was a huge problem for us and left the room below much warmer than the rest of the house. As they repaired the roof and laid down the new shingles and protection, they added a reflective layer to bounce back more heat. So far, the room is far cooler than it was before, in line with the rest of the house. Their final product is a work of art. I am going to hire them for the front porch roof repair in the future. I've hired Matrix Construction two times now. This review's been a while coming, but so well deserved. Oddly, the circumstance that prompted me to write this was when a neighbor had their roof redone by another contractor and the result was so shoddily done (all kinds of cut corners, lumpy bumps in the shingles, crooked lines, and 0 attention to shingle pattern in the finished roof) that it opened for me real insight into just how amazing Matrix Construction is. First of all, Nelson's attention to detail is meticulous. I laugh because a few times, I even told him, "gosh, what you're doing looks really hard. I'd never notice one way or another how you do it." and his reply was always "no, hard or not, this is how it is done the right way." He is an honest man, the hardest working person I've known, and a true master of his craft. His work beams with pride, and his results speak for themselves. Multiple times, Matrix Construction has gone above and beyond in the scope of what he was hired for, and when I questioned him, he said "this is how it would be done right. If this was my home, this is how I'd do it." Matrix Construction doesn't cut corners. So much did I have faith in his quality, the second job he did for me (a whole-home re-roofing), I was completely comfortable leaving him to finish without my being present to inspect. There was no need to; I simply knew his strong ethic would not cut a corner, especially after flat refusing to do so EVEN WHEN I'D PREVIOUSLY SUGGESTED/ENCOURAGED IT! As a 20-year homeowner, I've worked with MANY contractors over the years and I would NOT say that about any other contractor I've ever hired. If I hire one, I watch them like a hawk! Neither have I ever had a contractor call me months and months after completion to ask if I was still happy and if everything was doing well. If you need a roof, and want it done solidly, beautifully, and honestly, then do not hesitate! I've even called Matrix Construction to ask if he'd help me do other projects besides roofing, because it's hard to find such a reliable, honest, trustworthy individual.

Hey, so I just wanted to share my thoughts on Matrix Construction of Hampton Roads, Inc. I recently had some roofing repairs done by them, and I have to say, I'm pretty impressed with their service.

First off, Nelson, the owner, is a really good person to work with. He's friendly, approachable, and genuinely seems to care about his customers. It's always a plus when you can trust the person in charge, and Nelson definitely gives off that trustworthy vibe.

As for the repairs, they did a solid job. The team was efficient, and they made sure to explain everything to me in a way that I could understand. I appreciate that because, let's face it, roofing stuff can be a bit confusing.

I had a stopped up kitchen sink and nothing I tried would clear it up. I put in a trouble call to my home warranty, but they would not do the work. Mr Nelson Peña’s name was given to me by my son who suggested I call him, I did and Mr Peña was at my home the following day. Mr Peña worked on the blocked sink with a drain auger (snake) tirelessly, but it didn’t work, he left and returned with a motorized drain auger and to my amazement, the blockage was cleared! Not only did he get that done, but he noticed my front door was slanted and not closing like it was supposed to, and said “I have the tools and only takes a couple of minutes, so why not!” And, he fixed the door! I told him he was sent by God! I highly recommend Mr Nelson Peña! Although he is a master roofer by profession, I think he can do almost any type of job in your home.

I have a very old 3story house with a steep slate roof. Having identified broken and missing slates resulting in roof leaks, we solicited repair bids from contractors.
