I need some information about putting a sunroom on the back of my house. The gentleman I spoke to advised me about what I needed and how it should be done. He was very informative and I appreciate his time to explain all the aspects of my project. Unfortunately, what I needed they don’t provide. He gave me three different engineering companies that could help me with my project. In a world that is so busy this gentleman took his time and explained everything that I needed to do. I called ABC Consulting Inc. to see if a structural engineer could come out to my home for a foundation analysis. While they did not offer the service for my specific request Fadi spoke to me for about 10 minutes evaluating what I actually needed to be done to my crawl space. Fadi is very knowledgable and incredibly helpful. We were told (by another company) that we would need to spend $15,000 - $20,000+ to fix an issue with our garage, but Fadi assured us that was not necessary. If you want a REAL engineer to evaluate your home, call ABC Consulting, no one else.

I had called Fadi because I was concerned with the structural integrity of a section of my home's foundation. He had asked me multiple questions and what solutions I had already tried. He couldn't confirm exactly what the problem is because he was not looking at the house, but suggested some plausible causes as well as other solutions to try based on the information I gave him. All of this advice was free of charge. He was upfront with his costs, but wanted to save me some money by telling me to try the other cheaper solutions first and then to call him to come out if none of them worked.

I rarely, if ever, write reviews but felt compelled to in this case. My property had a structural issue that caused me great concern. I received proposals to fix this structural issue from several foundation repair companies. All proposals offered the exact same solution. Having worked in engineering myself (but in a different field), I just did not feel comfortable that these foundation repair companies were offering a viable, permanent solution that would last for the long term. Fadi reviewed structural damage to my property that was caused by a tornado to verify that I would correct all issues both seen and unseen by my insurance inspector. Once in a while you find a business that appears to be ethical and competent. Seems to be the exception these days, but it does happen. To address continuing foundation issues not addressed by prior "foundation experts", I decided to contact a structural engineer first, because that's what they study and they are not trying to sell you their service to sister beams, install unnecessary hydraulic piers, etc. Fadi answered the call. He was able to work with my difficult schedule, performed an inspection within a short period of my call, and provide a thorough report a few days later. He also specifically talked me down from additional services that he could provide which would cost me more money without likelihood of much benefit. He walked and talked through it all with me on site. At the end of the day, Fadi likely saved me from a very costly fix that was recommended by the "foundation experts". I hope his fix does the trick, but my modest understanding of physics and his confidence tell me it will work. Thank Fadi for scoring a point for honesty and competency in professionals.

I recently called ABC Consulting. I was inquiring about a potential foundation inspection. I didn’t quite catch the gentleman’s name who answered but he was very courteous and even advised me to seek a good drywall company first. More often than not, companies want to sell their products/services regardless if it is beneficial or not for their customers. I own a 95 year old home, and contacted ABC Consulting after discovering some concerning wall cracks and a sagging beam. The admin staff promptly responded to my inquiry and had me in contact with Fadi, their engineer, within a matter of hours. Fadi was even able to work me into his schedule last minute since I was concerned about my family’s safety. During his visit he was on time, polite and personable. He was able to quickly assess our problem, give us direction on a safe temporary solution, and then provided a very detailed report and design to permanently correct the problem.

Even if you don't hire them there kind enough to give you advice over the phone.
Other agencies wanted to come out and charge me $300 or more for my do it yourself project.

We had a very tight timeline and they were able to come out to our property within a couple of days and within 24 hours from seeing our property provide us with the structural report we needed for our permits. When we realized what we had originally wanted to do would leave our house not structurally sound, Fadi came up with a solution and helped us come up with a new plan/layout that we love even more than what we had originally wanted. And when things didn't work out with our contractor we felt comfortable reaching out to Fadi to ask his opinion on something and he generously gave it as well as provided a contact of someone who could help us. If that's not going ABOVE & BEYOND, I don't know what is. I also really appreciated that they were $500 less than the other company I got a quote from and that ABC consulting stuck to the minimum number of hours needed for the project.

I hired ABC consulting to investigate a loose ceiling joist in the attic. Fadi pointed out right away that an entire roof truss had been removed to accommodate the chimney and that it was the cause for the loose joist. It was also causing leakage around the chimney into the attic, something my home inspector did not catch. I have not decided to have an inspection done at this time, but Mr. Debbas was very helpful in explaining the process involved with the inspection of my kitchen sub-flooring and how the supporting structures for my second story could be involved as well. He seemed very knowledgeable, and was clear about costs and how to set up an appointment.
January 20, 2020--I first contacted Mr. Debbas 7 months ago for information about a structural question resulting from a recent renovation to my home, and wrote the above review. I contacted Mr. Debbas again today to set up an appointment for an inspection of my home. Again, Mr. Debbas was most helpful and very candid about the actual necessity of an inspection that could, quite possibly, lead to very expensive remediation work. He listened to my situation and asked some questions, and instead of gladly taking my money for an inspection, he suggested several things I could do to detect any problems, and to put off an inspection until (if ever,) I noticed any indications that there might be a problem that needed further investigation. I am most grateful for Mr. Debbas' candor. So many businesses today are self-serving and willing to take advantage of people who cannot afford to pay for unneeded services.
