I'm always amazed at the selection they have in such a small store. If you need expert help, this is the hardware store to visit, especially for plumbing. I discovered the store when going from store to store to find a solution to a plumbing issue. ACE wasn't helpful. Home Depot couldn't help, they didn't have any parts or even offer solution, but a customer told me to come here. The worker told me what I was looking for and offered multiple solutions to fix the problem. I've gone back a few times and always been impressed. This is what a local hardware store should be.

I discovered M Tanaka store a few years ago after leaving the local Home Depot, frustrated that as a 'Do-it-yourselfer' I couldn't find what I needed and had a heck of a time even trying to find someone who could help.

I Googled 'plumbing Kauai' and found M Tanaka Store conveniently off Rice Street in Lihue. The worker (maybe the owner) spent time showing me multiple solutions to my plumbing problem. I left spending less than $10, but they earned my business from that moment forward. I've been back many times and regardless of who is working they are exceptionally knowledgeable and always willing to help. M Tanaka store has hands down the best customer service and I recommend them to anybody for their hardware needs.

Prices are reasonable in this family owned plumbing and hardware store. They often carry items the large stores do not. You can also often get advice that is usually lacking in the large chain stores.
